Problems downloading Java 1.4.1 plug-in

Hello. I need to download the Java 1.4.1 plug-in but am having the same problem every time. I'm using a dial-up (56k) connection and have downloaded the latest version of internet explorer. I have also removed the old Java versions from my computer. I keep getting the same error about 2/3 through the download. The error is:
"The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity, and try again".
I am downloading directly from the Java site so I don't understand why I keep getting this error. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks for your time.
Rich

Man... you probably resumed your downloading over a period of time, that means you did not fully download the whole file at one go? The program you used to resume probably backtracked afew bytes and it resulted in the error...
If that is not the case, just grab the file from other sources like Kazaa and try... I am quite sure its not the site because I just tried downloading and it works fine ;)

  • Problems downloading java in firefox

My new forms install 11.1.1.4 will not work in firefox 3.6.16 . It wants to download jre 6.12:
    http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/6u12/index.html
However the download is immediately cancelled. If I tell it to resume it, it looks like it was downloaded but it is not there.
This is a problem I've had in recent times downloading anything from oracle and not just java There's something wrong with firefox vs oracle's web site. Sometimes you can use firefox sometimes you can't.
Anyway I got 6u24 installed but the test form does not recognize it because it is not 6.12. So this has got to be an faq how to
change the dependence on 6u12 to 6u24 (or better whatever the current version of java would be). I'm sorry to ask such a dumb
newbie question but if anyone knows how to change it I'd really appreciate it.
this does not work with firefox with 6u24, that's all I know. (the test form does work with chrome and with IE 8. BTW I found that if
you have this problem downloading any java with firefox, it is easier to download it with chrome. I see that chrome is very cognizant of
jre versions and there's a lot of confirming things on sun's website. So you can download and install java via chrome if the other avenues
are not working. (I'm getting a real java headache now. I think I'll work on something else :-)

Oh a simple fix. You merely have to find the formsweb.cfg file which in 11.1.1.4 is something like:
    c:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\forms\config\fmwconfig\servers\WLS_FORMS\applications\formsapp_11.1.1\config\formsweb.cfg
change these 3 items to as follows:
    jpi_classid=clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0024-ABCDEFFEDCBA
    jpi_codebase=/forms/java/jre-6u24-windows-i586.exe#Version=1,6,0,24
    jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.6.0_24
you could also change the download so they are not downloading the wrong thing:
    jpi_download_page=https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_Developer-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewProductDetail-Start?ProductRef=jre-6u24-oth-JPR@CDS-CDS_Developer
    I probably missed a few.
(But does this mean that every time there is another version of java I'm going to have to change this file? Actually I though mozilla was
going to run the latest version of java if you specified one that was earlier. There's just no telling what that program is going to do.

When i am done downloading java its says this update is for v10.6 but i am 100% sure that i have v10.6

  • At a complete loss.....problems downloading Java

I had Java on my laptop for ages and never had any problems until recently where it just wouldn't let me use it, kept getting an error message saying there were components missing...or something like that.
Completely removed it from my laptop (well I thought I had) and tried downloading it again. The automatic download would do nothing, but shows up when I do control-alt-delete in processes. Can't end the process though.
Tried manual download, same problem...when I go to run it by double clicking the icon, nothing happens but again shows in processes.
What am I doing wrong, and does anyone know how I can solve this?
    Many thanks

  • Problem downloading JDK 6

    Hallo,
I don't know if this the right place to ask my question. Since few days (last friday) I can't donload JDK 6, neither for Windows, nor for Linux. The transfer rate is very low and after downolading ca. 700 kb I get a message thate the file couldn't be downloaded due to errors. What's going on? Is there another place where could I make my download?
    with regards
    Rafal Ziolkowski.

I don't think that someone solves my network problems, but it could be that Oracle has problems with accessibility, such a thing can happen. As You have no problems downloading java, so it is really problem here in Poland. Meanwhile I have solved it with GetRight.

It is best to go to the source, Adobe, to get their software and updates. Sometimes malware can infect sites with messages that appear legitimate, but will, instead, install malware/virus/trojan on your system. Read the following carefully to install and/or update Adobe Flash.
There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash; an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only and a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox. On a Windows system, you should always update both individually. '''''You do not have Adobe Flash (aka "Shockwave Flash" in Add-ons > Plugins) installed.'''''
#'''Using Firefox''', go to the following direct download link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
#When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit '''''OR''''' Firefox button > Exit)
#Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
#*In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
#*The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.
    #*The installation is quick.

  • Jar files download problems in Java Webstart with JRE 1.6

We have encountered a few problems in Java Webstart with JRE 1.6
In JRE 1.5, the jar files are getting downloaded onto the client
    machine with it's original names.
    Example :
    Server File Name : acm.jar
    Client File Name : RMacm.jar
But in JRE 1.6, the jar files are getting downloaded with improper file names.
    Example :
    Server File Name : acm.jar
    Client File Name : 4fb074cc-66fc7407
Moreover the path itself seems to be invalid.
    Example Path :
    JRE 1.5 path:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application
    Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javaws\https\D17.16.23.11\P443\DMtest\DMwebStart
    JRE 1.6 path:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application
    Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\12
Due to this, we are facing Classpath problems.
What changes do we have to make to the code, for Java
    Webstart to work ?
We are using JBoss 4.0.4 and JDK 1.5 in the Server
On the client machine, we have IE 6 and JRE 1.6.01

  • Cannot download Java SE6 plug in

I have an iMac running Snow Leopard 10.6.8
Apple have removed Java (thank you; very useful and no warning) and I have tried downloading  the original version from the Apple support site.  Get message "Installation successful" but, since I cannot see it and still get "Blocked Plug in" message this is not correct.
    Can anyone advise, please?

Apple barred Java from running on Macs in order to safeguard users by blocking Java 7 Update 11 and adding it to the banned list in XProtect.
This was the second time in two weeks that Apple had blocked Oracle's code from running on Macs. The threat was so serious that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security had recommended that all Java 7 users disable or uninstall the software until a patch was issued. This time Java is blocked through Apple's XProtect anti-malware feature.
Java has come under fire as the means by which hackers have been able to gain control of computers. In April 2012 more than 600,000 Macs were reported to have been infected with a Flashback Trojan horse that was being installed on people's computers with the help of Java exploits. Then in August Macs were again at risk due to a flaw in Java, this time around, there was good news for Mac users: Thanks to changes Apple has made, most of us were safe from the threat.
Unwilling to leave its customers open to potential threats Apple decided it's safer to block Java entirely.
In order to block older versions of Flash, Apple has updated its "Xprotect.plist" file so that any versions that come before the current one (version 11.6.602.171) cannot be used on a Mac. Users who have older versions of Flash installed will be greeted with an alert that says "Blocked plug-in," and Safari will prompt the user to update to a newer version.
Macs running OS X Snow Leopard and beyond are affected.
UPDATE for those running Lion or Mountain Lion:
Oracle on Friday February 1 released a new version reportedly addressing vulnerabilities seen with the last build.
Apple disabled Java 7 through the OS X XProtect anti-malware system, requiring users to have at least version "1.7.0_10-b19" installed on their Macs. The release dated February 1 carries the designation "1.7.0_13-b20," meeting Apple's requirements.
Oracle "strongly recommends" applying the CPU fixes as soon as possible, saying that the latest Critical Patch Update contains 50 new security fixes across all Jave SE products.
    Update for Snow Leopard users:
Apple issued update 12 for Java for OS 10.6:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1573
Note:  On systems that have not already installed Java for Mac OS X 10.6 update 9 or later, this update will configure web browsers to not automatically run Java applets. Java applets may be re-enabled by clicking the region labeled "Inactive plug-in" on a web page. If no applets have been run for an extended period of time, the Java web plug-in will deactivate.
If, after installing Java for OS X 2013-002 and the latest version of Java 7 from Oracle, you want to disable Java 7 and re-enable the Apple-provided Java SE 6 web plug-in and Web Start functionality, follow these steps:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5559?viewlocale=en_US
    Further update:
Apple issued this Java related security update No. 13 on February 19:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5666
and Update No. 14 on March 4:  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1573
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5677
And the latest update from April 16, 2013:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572
and for Snow Leopard from June 18, 2013:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1573
    You should also read this:
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT5672
The standard recommendation is for users to turn off Java except when they have to use it on known and trusted websites (like their bank). Javascript, which is unrelated despite the name, can be left on.

You cannot download or install any plug ins in Safari on the iPad. You can only turn on JavaScript in the Safari settings - which is different than you want to do.

Can i download java for my ipad, the problem is i open glovis.usgs from my ipad, but i can't see the full page, cause the page need a java...help me please

Nope. The iPad (and iPhone and iPod touch) cannot execute Java applets. It's a limitation in iOS from the beginning (just like lack of Flash). You will either need to use a desktop computer or access a desktop computer via RDP or VNC to access that page on iPad.mIn short: there is no native way to use a Java applet on iOS.

  • Very big problem with java downloads - geo targeting problem ?

    Hello,
i am from germany and i hope you understand my english.
    I have following problem.
our official IP Adress is listed in some geo targeting servers to a false country.
for example - a website language is not in german - but in english / arabic
-> this problem is now solved - anyone in the world change this false IP-to-country entry - but not all sites works fine
If i test my IP adress via utrace.de i see, that my ip is not in germany but in israel. utrace.de wants to fix this in the next 2 weeks I hope so.
My provider and RIPE settings are OK
if i try to download java or other software from sun.com i receive a message, that the download is not allowed, because my location is in an embargo state. (false ip-to-country entry)
My problem is to find a contact to sun.com or the service provider of sun.com, who manages the geo targeting DB
forgot the normal sun support - nobody can help me.
    can you help me ??

While I certainly appreciate ejb's helpful responses, this thread shows up a difference in perspective between how I read the forum and how others do. Author ejb is correct in advising you to stay inside JSF for form processing if form processing is what you want to do.
However, I detect another aspect to this post which reminds me of something Marc Andreesen once said when he was trying to get Netscape off the ground: "there's no such thing as bad HTML."
In this case, I interpret ungar's request as a new feature request. Can I phrase it like this?
"Wouldn't it be nice if I could render my nice form with JSF but, in certain cases, when I REALLY know what I'm doing" just post out to a separate servlet? I know that in this case I'll be missing out on all the nice validation, conversion, l10n, i18n, ajax, portlet and other features provided by JSF".
If this is the case, because it really misses the point of JSF, we don't allow it, but we do have an issue filed for it
    https://javaserverfaces-spec-public.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=127
If you can't wait for it to be fixed, you could decorate the FormRenderer to fix what you want.
I have an example in my JSF book that shows how to do this decoration. http://bit.ly/edburnsjsf2

  • Download Java JRE problem

This is what I receive from a webpage:
    Important Notice
You are required to install/enable Java JRE for processing PPS online payment.
Please press "Download Java JRE" button to install/enable Java JRE
Please press "Reload" button after installed the Java JRE successfully.
Then I went to sun's webpage and it told me to download it by referring to Mac's software update. I tried but then there was no such update found. I tried reloading the webpage, opened it again with Chrome, firefox, manually clicking open the Jar Launcher and Java Web Start, all couldnt work. I need to enter that website to do some payment. Could anyone please help? Thank you.

I ran the software update process already and there was nothing about java for me to update. And that webpage is still asking me for a JAVA JRE installed. Would it be that Safari could not recognise the java in my os?
