Problems getting a TV fixed or exchanged

I am having problems getting a black friday tv purchase fixed or replaced.  I bought the doorbuster 50" panasonic TC-50A400U on thursday along with the 2 year protection plan, took it home and it has vertical lines on left center of the sceen. Went into a store on saturday to fing out what to do, was advised to call 1-800-geek-squad because it was a 50" tv.
Geek Squad came out yesterday immediately diagnosed the problem, called it in and was told that panasonic is not going to provide the needed board to repair it and I would have to bring the tv in for an exchange as it is within the return policy period.  Of course there are none in stock and will take at least a week to get a new one. While I understand the TV was a special deal, it should not mean that it or the person buying it should be treated any differently than soeone buying a more expensive tv or other product.
I feel this reflects poorly on Panasonic as well as they do not seem to want to stand behind products that they are selling unless it is a certain price point

Thank you for your patience while we worked through our backlog to reach your post.  We’ve been very busy since the Thanksgiving holiday and it’s taking us a bit of time to catch up.
Congratulations on getting your hands on one of the Panasonic doorbuster TV’s.  I can only imagine how disappointing it was to see that it wasn’t working correctly and that the only option available to us was to exchange it for you, which meant waiting for us to get stock back in.
Normally during the manufacturer warranty period, we have to follow the manufacturer’s instructions regarding potential repairs, so if they stated that it would be more economical to replace that to repair, we do need to follow those directions.  It does appear that since you’ve posted, we did get more of these TV’s in stock and that you’ve completed your exchange.  I hope that the new television is working well and you are enjoying it!

  • Problem with Indicator: Fixing of Exchange Rate

    Dear All,
    i have a PO, where the "Indicator: Fixing of Exchange Rate" ist set. But in the header info of the goods receipt there is not the rate from the po, there is the actual day rate. And the system book the rate difference value to G/L Account 'exchange loss' and 'price and inventory difference'. I the note 518114 they write, if this flag is set, the system uses this exchange rate.
    Is there maybe any wrong customizing or why does the system use the wrong rate?

    Check the GR Posting Date and Date on which you have activated "Exchange Rate Fixed" Indicator (Check in ME22N - Environment --> Header Changes).
    Whether it has been activated after GR Posting Date.

  • Can't get BT to fix a line at new property, how to...

    Since we moved address on the 7th March we have not had a working phone line, just a series of BT mistakes and delays.
    Series of events:
    We booked a house move 3 weeks prior to moving on the 7th March
    7th March we got a text saying your line has moved, but clearly hadn't as no dial tone
    7th March contacted BT, who said yes your line has moved, and no we cant record a fault until midnight in case it hasnt been moved, the sort of twisted logic you have to fight through
    8th March, finally got fault registered after arguing with a very unhelpful Indian call centre, who wouldn't believe we didnt have a line because it was showing as engaged - the fault as it turned out.
    11th March - order BT infinity with a delivery date of the 26th March thinking is a simple problem.
    13th March - Diagnostic shows it is a fault with the BT network,  two BT openreach engineers turn up, who detect the fault is in an underground cable 100 yards up the road, mark up the road and tell us they will report it to the dig team, should be later that week, early next week.
    22nd March - After much chasing through the Indian call centre, who after explaining that we need to know when they are going to dig and fix the cable, are getting told such unhelpful things as have you tried a different phone in the socket. Finally get a call back to say the hole has been dug today to fix the trunking, the cable guys will arrive Monday. I explained that no digging had happened, to which she said she would get back to us.
    25th March - Another phone call to tell us quite bluntly that the digging team had more important jobs, and as we are just a residental line the digging won't now happen until the 5th April. We ask if there is any point in sending the Infinity engineer out, and they want to do so anyway.
    25th March - Cable guys turn up and point out the digging hadn't happened so they can't do anything. Nice to see they don't talk to each other either.
    26th March - Infinity engineer turns up at our old address, and needs re-directing to us, says he needs a working phone line, but he will do what he can. Plugs in the box that did arrive at the new address, disappears for an hour and comes back to tell us the exchange equipment has been installed in the local exchange for the old address.
    27th March - BT phone, no apology, just blame the engineer, re-arrange infinity for 12th April.
    30th March - Talking to new neighbour he tells us that the cable was crushed by some digging work at the beginning of December 2012 and they had no phone line for December, until BT realised there were some working pairs in the crushed cable and switched them, then didn't bother to repair the cable. Leaving a nice little time bomb until we asked for a line.
    5th April - As expected nothing happens.
    8th April - No contact as yet.
    I would like to cancel the whole lot and go with someone else, knowing they will still need to get Openreach to fix the line, but hopefully another provider that doesn't consider residental lines to be unimportant, and don't use hopeless Indian call centres. As BT have never delivered a working service from the beginning of the new contract they insist on when moving, how do I go about doing this?

    i fully understand your frustration. it will not be a quick solution
    on the 1ST OCT i ordered, from BT, a phone line connection together with there broadband package. This was to be re-installed into a farmhouse that i have been renovating. I ran a underground service duct from the existing pole into the house. It was my simplistic view that bt would simply send an engineer to run a line through my service duct and connect either end, SIMPLES!
    At the end of Nov, and after a series of engineer no-shows, we get an engineer. Hooray this must be it. This engineer persuaded my wife to help him feed the wire through the duct, he then made the connection and declared that he would have to travel 6 miles to our local exchange to turn the line live. An hour later he returned and announced that he could not find any fault but that the line was not working.
    I then made a series of phone calls to eventually get another engineer out in December. When he turned up he did not have a clue as to what he was to do. He thought he was there to simply connect the line. Eventually i managed to make him understand that the last engineer just gave up. This engineer did make some effort to problem solve. He dis-appeared in his van to climb some poles and look in some boxes. after a couple of hours he returned to announce that he thought there was a break in the line 500m away. he could not do anything about this and he would get someone to contact me with a solution
    In February i then recieved a letter from BT saying that they were sorry that i had cancelled my order and that they would be refunding my money that i had already paid. I called them immediately to explain that i did not to cancel anything i just wanted a phone line.
    Hey presto another engineer turned up. This guy seemed to be on the ball. After just 1 hour he had located the break in the line. He then marked on the road surface "BT DIG HERE" and left us saying that things would now get sorted 
    Weeks came and went and still no sign of action until i found they had refunded the cost of the installation directly back into my bank account!
    So i called BT today. Apparently because i had not been using the phone line they had cancelled the order! 
    I am getting to the point where i am considering forgetting the phoneline. Satellite internet connection may be expensive but it seems that the speed is consistant and i do not have the painful experience of trying to deal with BT

  • What is the current schedule for 6.1.2 and will it fix the Exchange transaction log issue in 6.1?

    Just spent the entire night with virtually no sleep with our firm's group of IT engineers trying to keep our Exchange system online due to massive transaction log growth. Confirmed the issue related to 6.1 calendar bug with Activesync. The workarounds are not practical for large groups of users who depend on their mobile devices for work. Our users have no way of knowing that they are causing an issue so the Apple guidance isnt terribly useful to communicate to 1000 users. When can we expect a resolution? The problem is only going to get worse as more and more users hit the bug. Does anyone know if the issue will resolve as soon as someone installs the 6.1.2 update, assuming that has the fix. Im not trying to bash anyone but this is a very serious problem in enterprise deployments.

    The update was released some time today. 6.1.2 appears to specifically fix the Exchange issue causing excess comms and logging issues. However, although the update is available i do not see the notification badge on the Settings icon. Is this controlled by Apple or is there a user setting i am missing somewhere? I would prefer that all users see the badge to expedite user action.

  • Best practice for getting a satellite fix

    I'm having problems getting a GPS satellite fix and would like to make sure I'm going about it the right way. 
    Menu / GPS / GPS Data brings up message searching for GPS satellites
    Position reports back Waiting for GPS
    Options / Satellite status generally returns No Satellite Data Available.  On some occasions I get up to 5 outlined bars with various changing numbers by the side of them.  Sometimes these outlined bars turn black.  Is this the satellite search ?  Do I only get a fix when 5 bars go black ?
    What other setting should I check to help this process ?
    From Ovi Maps / My Position all I get is a red dot, followed by the  message Connection Failed.  Will I be able to get any map to appear without getting a full set of satellite data ?
    My reading of other posts on this forum seem to indicate that it takes up to 20 minutes in the middle of a field to get a full set of satellite data, and then it will be lost as soon as I get into a car.  If this is really the case, the "functionality" is next to useless.  Please tell me this is not the case.

    I've found something funny about the satellite reception. When I just got my E52 I couldn't get it to work, no matter in what application (GPS Data or Ovi Maps). I tried leaving it outside for an hour, in different weather conditions, everything. I don't use A-GPS, only the satellite signal.
    Everything changed when I installed Garmin. After first run it took some 20 minutes to get a signal lock, and since then it works perfectly. Now it only takes 1-2 minutes to get coordinates. Both in Garmin, Ovi Maps, and GPS Data. I am amazed by it's reception capabilities, I can hold my phone down in the car (next to the hand brake) and it never looses signal. I used it in back of a van, even inside a building with large windows.
    It's like Nokia's own programs don't know how to start using the GPS receiver, they need Garmin to show them.
    The outlined bars you're talking about are satellite indicators. When a bar is only outlined it means your phone receives that sat.'s signal but not strong enough. Your phone needs to get a strong signal (when a bar is full or almost full) from at least 4 satellites to be able to give you coordinates. Just keep trying, it should start.

  • MacBook Pro Restarts: How have people fared in getting apple to fix this?

    So, I have had trouble with my mid-2010 MacBook Pro restarting because of a problem: black screen, restart, then white screen with the "problem" notice. I have read all the threads and problems that people have been having, and everything points to the video card or logic board.
    I have brought my computer to the Apple store twice now for this same issue, once within the three year repair window, and most recently a few months beyond that deadline. The first time I was led to believe that it was the RAM, and I replaced (and upgraded) the RAM through Crucial (their recommended RAM), and replaced the HD as well. It continued to happen, though having a child decreased my screen time and thus decreased its instances to have some of that fade in my memory. After some more heavy use, and multiple restarts during one session, I once again replaced my HD (because I hadn't learned anything apparently), and upgraded to Mavericks. 35 seconds into my first session after a day of restoring my computer, it restarted and I scheduled an appt at the Apple store.
    They took my computer, ran tests on the RAM and the video card, and after about a week told me that it must be a software issue. They reset (took out and reinstalled) my new HD and my RAM, and gave a full reinstall of Mavericks. I brought it home and rebuilt my HD using Time Machine, avoiding anything system-level and bringing over only apps, music, photos and documents. And... it persisted. I have since used process of elimination, swapping out my RAM, to learn that it is indeed not the RAM... its something in this computer.
    After that long story, what do you recommend for my next trip to the Apple store? Can anyone point to a good approach, or an additional point of contact, to help me get this thing fixed for free? I did bring it in within the 3-year window, they just mis-diagnosed it. They seemed to suggest that their hands were tied... I saw there was some mention of people having success outside the 3-year window and I would love to know how.

    Pearson put out a tech note on this today - the new versions of Java are what's causing the problem. If you can use Time Machine to rollback java prior to a java 7 or 1.6.0_37 version that will get you going again. I've been searching for hours for a place to download the older version but it seems Apple's site and Oracle all only have the latest release. Still trying to see if I have a copy downloaded on a system that hasn;t been updated to copy off to a network drive or usb and install the older version on to systems.

    An update to Java for Mac OS X was released on October 16, 2012. An issue has been identified with this Java update (Java for OS X 2012-006) which prevents teachers from launching PowerTeacher Gradebook.
    Teachers using PowerTeacher Gradebook should avoid taking this Java update to version 1.6.0_37 until notified that PowerTeacher Gradebook has been certified with this latest version of Java 1.6 for Mac OS X. PowerTeacher Gradebook will continue to work on Mac OS X workstations with Java version 1.6.0_35.
      Additional communication will be provided once a workaround is identified or an updated version of PowerTeacher Gradebook is available.

    Annoyed with Final Cut Pro JVC import problem; will they ever fix this?
    I've shot footage on JVC GY-HD111E in the UK in 720p/25p PAL mode.
    I'm trying to import lots of short clips (average 10 seconds) into Final Cut Pro (latest version with 720p/25p support) with a new Mac Pro maxed out with ram and 3 extra internal HDs.
    Problem is, on a scene-break i.e. pause/stop, Final Cut detects this and creates a new clip, but it takes about 5 seconds to 'searching for media" before it starts the new clip. Because some clips are only very short, this 5 second delay sometimes means I only get the final few frames of a clip, rather than the entire 5 seconds or so of it.
    JVC UK are blaming Apple and are saying it is up to them to fix it as Premiere and Edius does not have this problem.
    However, Symbiosis in the UK (who do HD-Connect box) say that the JVC ProHD cameras do not wrap the shots up properly at the end, they are kind of left open and this creates problems on scene-breaks.
    I've tried turning off the "create new clip on timecode break" etc, but it does not make any difference, when I do this it simply quits capturing on a scene break. Besides I have about 300 cutaways like this and I don't want to spend the rest of the year breaking them up on the timeline as this would be a futile and long workflow.
    I'm importing and working on a native HDV 720p/25p timeline and this is the way I want to work. I've already imported and edited 4 hours of footage, but these 4 hours were easy as all 4 tapes had no start/stop points, they were recorded continuously from beginning to end of tape for 64 minutes each time so importing was no problem; 1 clip per tape.
    But now I've come to my 5 tapes containing hundreds of cutaways I'm kind of screwed and need some advise on how I can import them natively in HDV without losing this 5 seconds off the beginning of each clip whilst FCP searches for the media each time.
    I've been told this issue is definately with FCP, any ideas how I can get around this?

    I haven't heard of this JVC/FCP problem, so I can't comment on it. However, whoever shot the cutaways didn't do you, the editor, any favors.
    I've been doing video since 1984, and I've got to say, anyone who shoots a scene that is only 5 or 6 seconds long on tape is making a huge mistake, and it's been that way since the beginning of computerized editing in the late 70s.
    Shoot at least 5 seconds of pre-roll before the shot begins, then roll tape for at least 5 seconds after you've got the shot. That's the protocol I've followed for 22 years now. Tape is cheap, edit suite time isn't.
    But laying down only 5 to 6 seconds for a scene is wrong, IMO.

  • Getting Apple to fix incorrect title in store

    There's a song title in the iTunes Store that's wrong (On "A Thing to Live With" by Fond of Tigers, the sixth track should be "Here You Are, Hated", not "Here Your Are, Hated"), but I don't know how to get Apple to fix it. I tried going into my purchase history and click "report a problem" on the song, but I keep getting the error "The iTunes Store could not process your request; please try again later". I've tried off and on for two days.
    Is there another way to contact the store about fixing simple stuff like this?

    Contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the form at the bottom of their web page and explain the problem to them.

        Oh no! We don't want you without a phone, locknessmanster. You can suspend service anytime by logging into www.vzw.com/suspend and selecting the option you'd like. The vacation suspend that Elector mentioned allows you to suspend up to 90 days at a time for a total of 180 days per year. I'm sure you will not need that long though.
    As for the phone troubles, it is normal for a phone to get warmer when it's in use, charging, or working to find a signal that may not be available. However, if it is getting extremely hot to the touch, I would recommend bringing the phone and all accessories (chargers, batteries, etc) into a Verizon Wireless store http://bit.ly/3SdsA for a hands-on evaluation.

    When do we get a proper fix for the Mail app on my iMac? The last one made things worse. Or ta least, how can I roll back the OS to Mountain Lion?

    Mail has stopped refreshing as it should. When I click the get new mail envelope, there used to be a sound after around five seconds if there were no new notifications. When I try that now the program just hangs. When I look at 'Force Quit', which incidentally I have to open another app or Finder window in order to access because Mail freezes totally, including the Apple menu, it says that Mail isn't responding. The Mac won't shut down sometimes because Mail won't quit. If I manage to open a mail and then go to another inbox, the whole thing is liable to hang. Using Apple help just before Christmas I cleared out the old cache that M.Lion left behind and now there isn't a cache for Mail.
    We are on Tiscali Broadband through a multi-port router and usually getting around 11Mb download speeds. My mail addresses are either tiscali.co.uk or gmail. It will not successfully send group mails either, despite the upgrade before Christmas. I never had a problem with M.L. and Mail. From looking at the Forums it seems I am not alone here. I also have a windows pc and an iPhone and they both access my mail addresses without any problem.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Make sure that y do not leave any foreign material or leave anything in the jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
    Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

    If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

  • My Droid Ultra cannot get a GPS fix nor a 4G signal

    For the past couple of months my Droid Ultra cannot get a GPS fix or a 4G LTE signal. I've tried the following:
    1. Downloaded and ran GPS Status to attempt to get a fix and clear the GPS data.
    2. Start up in Safe Mode.
    3. Check for Software Updates.
    4. Re-seated SIM card.
    Before I'm forced to do a full factory reset (not even sure that will fix it), is there anything else I can do to see how to get either or both of these functions working again? Thanks!

    I don't recall any major changes a couple of months ago.
    I checked Network Mode and it was set to "Global". I switched it over to LTE/CDMA but still only get 3G.
    The GPS issue seems to affect all apps that use it. I initially noticed the problem using the navigation tool on Maps (by Google). I've also been able to get a fix using Waze, GPS Test and GPS Status & Toolbox.
    In Settings>Location I have set to ON and the following
    E911 Only
    Mode: High accuracy
    Location Services: Google Location Reporting
