Porting j2ee application from Weblogic to Oracle 10g AS
What are the common guidelines/consideration when we port a J2EE application on Oracle Application server 10g. from WebLogic 8.1. If you have some inputs on pin points/guidelines/Architecture decisions that we might need to consider when we port a J2EE application on different J2EE application server
I got the link for app server migration but it is broken :
http://www.oracle.com/consulting/technology/appserver_migration_ds.pdf
Our application uses the following J2EE components
1. JDBC 2.0
2. JNDI
3. DAO
4. EJB
5. JMS
6. JAAS
7. JAVA Mails.
8. Servlets, JSP’s
I can think following point that needs to take care while porting
1. Its deployment configuration vis-a-vis the apps on top
2. The APIs it exposes (actually the information it allows the apps to pass in to the framework
3. The data it encapsulates (in order to be app-server agnostic; does it need to be now exposed to apps?)
Some J2EE specific areas
1. JNDI usage and exposure to apps 2. Properties files/XML files
2. Location specification 3. Resource bundle location specification
4. EJB deployment descriptors
5. Class/jar references between wars and ears
6. Jar sharing model across ears
7. Class loader differences across app-servers
8. JMS settings (queues, topics, factories, durability etc)
9. UI tags 10. Startup services
11. Managed services (JMX)
12. Security context passing
13. Clustered configurations if any and how they port across app-servers
Thanks

Double submission problem in J2EE application under Weblogic 8.1 SP2 server
Hi,
We are facing double submission problem in our J2EE application which is running under Weblogic 8.1 SP2 and for the same we already implemented or added the below preventive solutions.
1. We disable the SUBMIT button once the user clicks it.
2. We preventated pressing 'F5' button and clicking 'Refresh' button in the browser.
3. Also we tried to prevent by declaring the idempotent is 'true' under weblogic-ejb-jar.xml as below.
<stateless-bean-methods-are-idempotent>true</stateless-bean-methods-are-idempotent>
So please somebody help us on this issue like how to prevent in some other way.
Regards,
Dinesh.I have no idea why you would think changing your EJB configuration would have anything to do with preventing double submission at your servlet layer.
One technique I've seen for preventing double submission was first used in the Struts framework several years ago. When a page is "prepared" for display, a token value is created and stored in the session. The page is displayed with a hidden field containing that value. When the page is submitted, the value of the hidden field is compared with the value stored in the session. If they're not equal, the submission is ignored. -
Have anyone done porting COBOL application to ABAP and J2EE?
Hi all,
(Hi Stefan Klensch: this is my next question:-))
I am a newby in the SAP world and just walking around a few days.
The problem I am facing is porting a large COBOL application to ABAP and mapping the generic business functions of that COBOL application according to the business process involved to adequate functions of the CRM- and HRM suites.
AND
The required customization of strategic business domain knowledge must be implemented in the J2EE domain e.g. for portability reasons. So at the end of the day I will have a SAP J2EE application and the above mentioned SAP ABAP solutions.
Yes, I want to use UML for the analysis and design (e.g. clas/component diagrams) because UML diagrams give me an better architectural (and maintainable) view and design of the system.
I am looking for the rare developer(s) who did such a kind of challenging job before. I hope they can give me hints and information the way they handled and solved such a problem. E.g. roadmap, methods, tooling, etc.
Many thanks in advance.
Thiel Changetresoft,
I downloaded the sample code for EvenBetterAuthorizationSample project and I changed the userid for the Developer id application as suggested by Apple below and built it, but still when I run the app and click on the "Read License" button or other buttons I get the error NSCocoaErrorDomain 4099 connectionInvalid
Before you build you need to adjust some Info.plist values to match your Developer ID. Specifically, search the entire sample code directory hierarchy for all instances of "SKMME9E2Y8" and replace it with the User ID value from your "Developer ID Application" certificate.
As far as I can tell, the sample app is properly code signed with our certificate along with the helper tool
Is there something else I need to change to get this sample app working so I can understand this better -
Shared folder access problem in j2ee application
Hi,
We are using SAP Netweaver 04s JAVA system.
In our j2ee application we are trying to access shared resource(file), but ejb is giving exception. Our code is as follows:
File srcDir = new File("\machine_namefolder");
if(!srcDir.exists())
{throw new Exception("directory does not exist", srcSys);
It gives expection "FileNotFoundException".
The same j2ee application is working fine when deployed on IBM Websphere.
We trired to access same shared path from windows, it is also working.
Please help us. Thanks in advance.

Error while running a J2EE application on Oracle10gAS
Hi,
I am receiving an error when trying to run a J2EE application on Oracle10gAS. The application runs successfully on Oracle9iAS, but throws the following exception on 10g application server:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">

- <SOAP-ENV:Fault>
<faultcode>SOAP-ENV:Server.Exception:</faultcode>

<faultactor>/STAR-TicketBroker-context-root/TicketBrokerWS</faultactor>
</SOAP-ENV:Fault>
</SOAP-ENV:Body>
</SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
Does anyone have any idea why I would be receiving this
error? We are using Session EJBs in our J2EE application. Are there any changes needed in the code in order to migrate a J2EE application from 9i to 10g ???
Please help.
Thanks,
-PrashantHi Somil,
I've just had this same error message, and it was because I had a bogus character in my JSP sources. I'd cut-and-pasted the text from a Word document, and it included the "registered trademark" sign (an R in a circle) as a single character. This worked in my test environment, but not in my production environment (where presumably the default encoding is different). I replaced the character with the equivalent HTML entity &reg; (ie. the five characters & r e g ; ) and it all worked.
Have a look through the offending JSPs and see whether you have any characters that might be incompatible with your default encoding (anything that isn't plain old 7-bit ASCII is potentially a problem). Change them to HTML entities and you should be fine.
Hope this helps,

SSO:Portal to J2EE Application
Hi all,
I have developed a simple java application that has user-id & password textboxes along with a submit button.(login.jsp)
this is deployed as an iView in the server.
When the submit button is clicked,it navigates 2 another JSP page(welcome.jsp) that displays the user's name if the id and passowrd matches with that present in the backend DB.
I want 2 display this welcome page directly without prompting for a logon frm the user.
How can i do this with AppIntegrator?I referd the following <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=95024">thread</a>I cant find the system uri,in the source code of the application!
How should i proceed further?
Thanks in advance.

SwarnaDeepikaHi Swarna,
Kindly try these steps..I have accumulated the points as per the discussions on mail.
Just try all these steps..
1) I hope you have created a J2EE application which has its own data source (i.e: tables in the Data Dictionary which has enteries for user and Password).
2) Create a HTTP system for usermapping.
3) After that perform all the steps as mentioned in the WebLog for the <b>App integrator</b>. (i.e: do the user mapping to the system by providing the User name and password.)
4) In the J2EE Application write the code that If that username which you got from the URL and the userName in your data source is same then show him the main page directly, else show him the Login Page.
5) Create a URL View in which you can put your application. Set the <b>admin,u</b>ser property from the User Management.
I hope all these will solve your problem!! Kinldy check this!!

Unable to connect to the OracleForms application through a J2EE application
Hi there,
I have deployed a custom J2EE application in Middleware instance of my Oracle 10g AS 10.1.2
The application is sso enabled . Once a user logs in the application he is able to see a jsp in which i display hyperlinks for him to access.
One of these hyperlinks is pointing to the forms application.
the url is http://psc-pc0592:7778/forms/frmservlet?config=abs_deploy[b]
Once i click on the URL the forms applet begins to load but as the applet opens up i get the database logon screen.This should not happen
I am already logged and have been verified by sso.
Also the forms configuration is associated with a datasource.
I am not able to get as to why i get that screen when it shoud directly connect to the forms application.
Any help on this is appreciated.
Thanks & Regards,
Madhur Pantwhen you go through your carrier provider, there is an additional step in the SSL tunnel. Not sure how this transcribes, but it is possible that your carrier does not use the same port as the one you want it to use.

Simple J2EE application fails under activation
Hi,
I have a simple J2EE application which contains one Servlet.
I have two DCs: SSORedirector (Enterprise application project) and SSORedirectWebModuleWebModule (Web Module)
(there is a third DC which is a child DC to SSORedirector, but I don't think it causes any problems)
The web module has by default public part called war (an I haven't touched this).
The Enterprise application project I have addeed the required references to the web module in the application.xml(this automatically set a Used DC reference).
When right-clicking the enterprise application and selecting build, it builds a correct ear file, and if I deploy it to my local workplace installation, the J2EE application works as expected.
However, when I try to check in and activate the activity the SDM deployment fails with the message: Info:java.lang.RuntimeException: Incorrect EAR file. EAR /usr/sap/ED2/JC00/SDM/root/origin/bouvet.com/SSORedirector/JDI_ZEPSSO_D/8596/bouvet.com_PASSTHROUGH_SSO_1_default_bouvet.com_SSORedirector_200602161842250637.sda does not contain entry META-INF/application.xml as required by the J2EE specification.
I've retrieved the .sda file on the file system (shouldn't it be an .ear file) and it contains the application.xml under the folder meta-inf. The complete contents of the sda file is
./d1c66970ddbec7e6ffcc4d01c4705600.HASH
./META-INF/application-j2ee-engine.xml
./META-INF/application.xml
./META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
./META-INF/SAP_MANIFEST.MF
./META-INF/sda-dd.xml
./src/java/src.zip
./bouvet.com~SSORedirectorServlets.war
What could possibly be wrong?
Below are some logs.

I had earlier deployed the .ear file directly from NWDS to our dev system (hadn't installed dev workplace then). By removing the application from the deploy service in visual admin, the import suddenly worked.

Integrating J2EE application with SQL Server Reporting Services
Hello everybody,
I want to integrate a J2EE application with SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. In fact, it is the first time to be involved in developing an interoperability component between .Net web service and Java application. So I have learned for some time how to pass this challenge. Moreover, I found the following virtual lab is an excellent starting point "MSDN Virtual Lab: Implementing SQL Server Reporting Services with a Java Enterprise Edition (EE) Application" [http://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/WebCastEventDetails.aspx?EventID=1032315323&EventCategory=3&culture=en-US&CountryCode=US]
After going through the lab, I tried to apply the same code in my machine but I have stuck with the following error:
{color:#ff0000}*; nested exception is:*
org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Premature end of file.
{color}{color:#333333}I use the following tools:
- Netbeans IDE 6.5
- Java SDK: build 1.6.0_01-b06
- Web Server: Apache Tomcat 6.0
- axis Jars (axis.jar, axis-ant.jar, commons-discovery-0.2.jar, commons-logging-1.0.4.jar, jaxrpc.jar, log4j-1.2.8.jar, saaj.jar, wsdl4j-1.5.1.jar)
- Reporting Tool: SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services
I will be so grateful if someone help me. I am waiting your response

How to use KM APIs, Can we use them in Standalone J2ee Application
Hi Experts,
I got KM APIs.
I need to use them to access the KM Repository Content.
I m a newbie in SAP KM.
Can anyone help me to use KM APIs.
For Eg:
com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement.IUser user =
IResourceContext resourceContext = new ResourceContext(user);
RID rid = RID.getRID("/etc");
try {
IResource resource = ResourceFactory.getInstance()
.getResource(rid, resourceContext);
if( resource != null ) {
// resource found
System.out.println("resource " + resource.getRID() + " found");
} else {
// resource not found
System.out.println("resource " + resource.getRID() + " does not exist");
catch( ResourceException e ) {
// problem while retrieving the resource
System.out.println(
"exception while trying to get resource " + e.getRID()
+ ": " + e.getMessage()
How will i get the IUser populated?
Can i use KM APIs from a standalone J2EE application?
Can i Populate IUser in standalone J2EE application's Servlet?
Please help me out.
Waiting for reply
-pankajHi Prem,
Can u tell me how to deploy a war file on to the SAP J2EE server?
I know how to deploy on Tomcat Server, but dont have any experience abt SAP J2EE server.
Does SAP J2EE server also have some Webapp directory like TOMCAT where we have to put our WAR File?
Or to Deploy a WAR File in SAP J2EE server is different, if yes then wats the procedure to do that?
And can i access the KM APIs in SAP J2EE Server? -
I am using Jackrabbit Repository (jcr's implementation) as backend in my Web Appl.Whose data persists on Oracle Database. To make connection with Oracle database jackrabbit provide provision of JNDI Lookup to read the data source defined in WAS (using WAS 8.0.0.4 as App Server).
I am able to perform JNDI Lookup everywhere in my application,But in a flow where i am creating a Thread using Java Concurrent Api and insidethread's call() method when I am trying for JNDI Look following exception occurs –

All I'm posting is the info that I got from my Sys Admin on the fix to my problem I encountered when trying to install Oracle 11g (11.2.0.0) on Red Hat Linux Enterprise 5. Since we're mouting onto an NFS, these are the steps he took. I'm not trying to "hide" information or post as little as possible. What other info do you want? I don't know what you are referring to when you mention "Filer, make, model, software version"? Please elaborate. I was just trying to post to others that may have encountered this problem, and I get somewhat attacked by you. I don't assume anyone can read my mind (especially you).

J2EE application not getting started.
Hi there,
I have depoyed my J2EE application successfully but it is not getting started, below is the log trace that is being shown.
My java path seems fine but cudn't get to know why the initializing is failing.
Favour would be definitely appreciated.
One Observation is, WAR file seems like not got deployed properly even though at the time of deployment every acknowledgement message shown was fine.
