PROBLEMS INSERTING FLASH

I created a very simple Flash document in Adobe Premiere
Elements and would like to use it on my website I created in
Dreamweaver 8. I would like it to auto play and auto loop, and
don't want a skin. I cannot do this when I use Insert, Media, Flash
Video so I thought I would try Insert, Media, Flash. The properties
box has loop and auto play checked, but when I preview it in my
browser, nothing shows. I do have the flv file saved in the root
directory (called WebsiteFlash.flv) If you want to see what it
does, here is the link:
http://www.hiringsolutionsinc.com/WebsiteFlash.html

You have saved as FLV. If it's a video, that's the right
format. If it's a
Flash file, save as SWF.

  • Problem inserting flash from flash 8

I am using flash 8 and dreamweaver 8. When I place a flash
header into my web page there is a space created between the header
and the lower content on the page. My publish setting in flash are
set at default. Thanks for any help.

This could be a problem w/ the Screen Mimic file because I have no problem inserting other flv files supplied to me by others.
That would my guess too. Here are few other things to consider:
    1)  Does your FLV filename contain any spaces or special characters?  If so, rename it without spaces as these can cause problems.
    2)  Output Screen Mimic project to a QuickTime MOV file.  Then use Adobe Flash Encoder to convert the MOV to FLV.
    3)  When you tested your page, was it a live page on remote server?  Did you upload the page and all supporting files to server (Scripts folder, SWF, FLV...)?

  • Problem Inserting Flash Video (flv) File into Site

    Hi -
I'm having problems inserting a Flash Video (.flv) into my webpage.  I'm using Dreamweaver 8.
I'm going to: Insert -  Media - Flash Video, browsing to the .flv file that's in my local site folder, entering the settings.
In Dreamweaver, there's a big gray box w/ flv icon in the middle.  But when I go to preview, the screen is empty, no video.
I'm creating the .flv file w/ Screen Mimic (a screen capture recording software).  This could be a problem w/ the Screen Mimic file because I have no problem inserting other flv files supplied to me by others.  This is the first video that I've made that I'm trying to insert.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would be most appreciative.
    thanks!

  • Problem Inserting Flash Video (.flv) File in Page Using Dreamweaver CS4's Insert Media Command

    I am using Dreamweaver CS4.
I am attempting to put a Flash Video (.flv) file on a standard HTML page in Dreamweaver.
When I either click the Insert Flash Video in the Common tab on the Dreamweaver toolbar, or if I choose Insert > Media > FLV to inert the video, I get the standard Dreamweaver FLV interface. I make my choices, click OK, and when the video is place on the page, I get the following dialog box:
"While executing inspectSelection in flvProgressive.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
    with an OK button.
If I preview the page, all that loads are the various buttons of the skin that I have chosen and no video.
Anyone have an idea what is going on?

Are you sure you aren't working with a template driven page?
When you insert media files into DW, it must write code in the <head> tags to reference Scripts necessary for Flash media to work on the web.
If you're working with a page that was created from a Template, the DWT page must have editable regions in the <head> tags, or you won't be able to add media to your web pages.

  • Problem inserting Flash video into DW CS3 template

I would like to insert some flash video into an editable
region inside a DW CS3 template. The template I am using seems to
work for literally hundreds of other pages I have made (none of
which, incidentally, have any media of any kind in them).
I have created the template and then an editable region and
now want to insert the flash video in that editable region. All
goes well until I hit the OK button. then I get this error--Making
this change would require changing code that is locked by a
template or translator The change will be discarded.
Can anyone suggest how I might over come this error??
    Thx.
    Jane

The problem is the detection option in the video insertion
    dialog. If you
disable that option, you will not get the error.
This is a problem because the detection routine requires a
    modification to
the <body> tag (insertion of an onload event) which you
    cannot easily do in
    a template child page.
If you really must have the detection, then you can copy and
    past the load
call from a dummy (non-templated) page on which you have also
    done the same
insertion. Post back with that page's body tag code, and I'll
    show you
    how....

  • Problems inserting flash movie into webpage

I am trying to insert 2 different flash movies on one webpage
One is a banner made in flash cs4 that works fine.
The other is a movie that I encoded with flash cs4 from a m4v file. When i test this file using the flash player on my computer everything works fine.
When i try to play on the webpage it shows there is flash object in dreamweaver but is blank in webbrowser.(right clicking shows there is flash there but nothing loads)
I have managed to get the movie working on a completly blank html file except that there are no controls (controls work fine in the flash player on computer)
As far as I can deduce it's not the html file because one swf file works ok
It's not how i'm inserting it onto the page because dreamweaver is doing it for me(and including the nessecary javascript etc)
It's not the movie because that works in the flash player on it's own.
    So i'm stumped
    any ideas guys?
(if it's any help the webpage it's on is www.csdrummer.co.uk , click on top right image on sidebar, has play button, under navigation)
    Thanks
    Jamie

I'm sorry I missunderstood the post from earlier. If I add the flv file in dreamweaver and upload the corresponding swf all works well but the flv file is 45mb which is a  bit large for a 3 min video.
What i would like to do is turn this into a swf file. But this is where the problem is happening. THe swf when i export from flash wont work, comes up in the browser as doesn't load

  • Problems inserting flash buttons in CS3

I used to be able to do this but it's not working like it had
    been.
When I go to insert a flash button using the built-in styles,
it gives me a source that is "undefined" and does not create the
SWF file of the button. This happens on a site that is already
using these buttons and a new website I created to test it out.
    I'm on a MacBook Pro with 10.5.6, Dreamweaver CS3.
Any insight would be very appreciated. Thanks.

Are you really set on using Flash buttons? You understand
    that there are
    many good reasons not to?

  • Problem inserting Flash movie into a Dreamweaver page

Hi, I've inserted a .swf movie on this page.  It used to work, but doesn't now. In Dreamweaver (CC), when I highlight the movie and click 'Play' in the Property Inspector it works (but doesn't in 'Live' view within DW).
Please be gentle about my code. I'm a hobbyist and started this site about 7 years ago  so don't have time to keep up with latest coding trends! Answers re. non-appearance of movie only, please.

Flash really isn't the way to do this anymore, very few people viewing your site with a mobile device are going to be able to see your .swf. Adobe stopped mobile Flash development a few years back and most devices that used to be able to see Flash, no longer ship with a Flash plug-in. Certain devices, like all Apple iOS devices, never had the ability and there is no way to add it to those.
Since it appears when uploaded, I would guess the reason it doesn't work locally likely has something to do with your machine's security settings, especially if Microsoft is involved in the equation somewhere. If it works when uploaded, you're good to go.
HTML5 <video>, CSS3 and jQuery (javascript) are now the default for video and animation for websites since they're compatible with virtually all devices used to browse the internet.

  • Problems inserting Flash video

I'm updating a colleague's site. In one of his pages he has a
Flash video embedded. The code he uses is
    <embed src="FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf" width="342"
    height="291" align="left"
    flashvars="&MM_ComponentVersion=1&skinName=Halo_Skin_3&streamName=swf/AirMilesTVad_NEW&au toPlay=false&autoRewind=true"
    quality="high" scale="noscale" name="FLVPlayer" salign="LT"
    type="application/x-shockwave-flash" />
This works on his page in IE but not in Firefox.
I tried putting the code into my page, with the relevant
Flash file in a subfolder and it didn't work in any browser. It
just put up a blank space the size of the video. I abandoned that
and tried using the DW menu Insert > Media > Flash video. The
dialog box asked me to browse for the URL of the swf file. But
whenever I OK that, it comes up with 'the URL cannot contain spaces
or special characters. Please enter it again.' I've tried putting
it in the same folder as the page, and renaming it so there are no
underscores or uppercase letters, but it still comes up with the
    same message.
Both pages, the new and the old, link to
AC_runActiveContent.js; both pages are ASP files. I'm using DW
    8.0.2.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Give us a link to the page, please.

  • Problems inserting flash movies with DW CS 3

I just started playing with DW CS3 and I got a feeling I'm
doing something wrong here but when I go place a Flash SWF in a
Dreamweaver HTML page the Flash portion of the page is not showing
up when the site is placed on a sever and looked at over the net,
I've tested it on a couple of PC's now so I'm pretty sure its not
    the brower messing up.
Now’s here’s the crazy thing. When I preview the
page from DW CS3 the flash elements are coming up just fine!
They look like there is some kind of auto swfObject attached
to them cause of the removal of the "click here to activate this
    control" message.
I've been using Dreamweaver 8 as a work around but this
seems really strange to me any one got any ideas on what’s
    going on here?
    Thx for the help

  • Problems with flash insert

Hi! I ran into a problem inserting flash site. When uploading files, leave a message, you need to install flash player, although Mozilla Firefox have the latest version of flash player.

    Best Regards, Alexander

I tried to insert Flash into the newest version of Dreamweaver CS6 (downloaded and installed yesterday). Now mozilla FireFox installed Flash Player 11 (in the screenshot). I do not see how to attach files here on the forum.

  • Insert flash video problem

    Hi all,
I know this question has been asked before, but I've tried
all the solutions offered and none worked.
I am using the command "Insert -->Flash Video" to insert a
video on a web page (using DW8). Plays locally, but not after
upload. Scripts folder and both the skin and
FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf file are uploaded to the appropriate
places. I've tried on multiple computers and in multiple browsers
and can't figure why it won't work.
    Here it is on a
test page. Should play in box and flv file is only a little
    over 1MB.
Any suggestions would be very appreciated. I'm ready to pull
    my hair out.
    Thanks in advance.

Guessing here but, is there supposed to be a blabla .flv file
    on the server
    or in your code?

  • Problem with flash shortkeys in standalone app

There is a VC++ Win32 project, hosting flash as ActiveX.
Flash contain text field, in which user should enter a text. Aslo
he can cut/copy/past entered text into or from a text field. If
user do copy/past with right click context menu - it's all ok. But
if he try use shortcut key for it (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, ect), copy/past
doesn't occur. Moreover, text field display a small square instead
a letter (although should display nothing, just copy or paste into
a text field). I note, that it take place with some other
Command+key combinations, but not with all. For example Ctrl+J,
Ctrl+I and some others are working.
When I inserted flash into IE browser, all shortkeys are
    wirking correctly.
Note: all other flash fetures are working correctly in Win32
    app.
    Where is a problem?

Paul sent me a couple of extracts from his text files to play with. When assigning (in the Text File Import dialogue) text fields to Address Book if some of the fields are for postal address, first make the assignment of the street value in the text file to one of the AB address fields; it will be assigned to the street sub-field, and you will then be able to pick out the other text fields for assigning to the other sub-fields - city, country, post code etc.

  • Inserting Flash in a DW template

I'm relatively new to Dreamweaver (version 8) and I'm having
a problem inserting a flash (.swf) slideshow of pictures into a
template that then updates several webpages. The problem is, when I
insert the flash into the template page and the webpages get
updated, the flash animation does not play on the webpages and just
has a white box. If I detach the template from the webpage, then
the flash displays correctly. But the problem with that is then
there is no point to using a template because I would have to
manually update each webpage instead of just the template when I
want to make a change to all the webpages. The problem must be with
the template, because when I try to attach the template to a very
simple webpage containing only a couple words and no other
graphics, the flash will not display correctly. Any ideas on what
is wrong or how I can insert a flash slideshow into a template so
that it updates the webpages correctly?

Make the link to the Flash element ROOT relative.
That way, the link doesn't need to be managed and will work
    just fine in
    your Template child pages.
