Problems installing Chinese fonts

Hi guys,
I've found a page where I can download free chinese ttf which are supposed to be compatible with OS X at http://www.travelphrases.info/gallery/Fonts_ChineseTraditional.html
However when I tried to install, the system gives me a validation error and asked me not to use it stating it has some missing OpenType data. Is it safe to ignore this and continue to install and use the font?

Is it safe to
ignore this and continue to install and use the font?
Normally yes. If you do run into any problems, just remove the font.

  • Can't get Acrobat 9.3.2 to read Chinese characters or install Chinese fonts

(Please read what I've done already before suggesting solutions.)
I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9.3.2 on Windows XP Professional with administrator privileges, and I just cannot get it to read PDFs in simplified Chinese. (Apparently the Asian fonts weren't installed when my IT people installed Acrobat.) I've downloaded and installed FontPack90_zh_CN.msi. No use. I have gone into Add/Remove Programs, gone to "modify" in the Adobe Acrobat item, and ensured that the Asian fonts are installed through that. Everything seems to go OK, but I still can’t read Chinese PDFs.
When I try to open a Chinese PDF, I get a message saying, "The Simplified Chinese Language Support Package is required to display this page properly." It then offers to install it, and I click "OK". Then it goes through the installation process. But at the end, I get another message saying, "The missing CMap or font was not successfully installed. This could be due to insufficient privileges. Please check with your system administrator to ensure that you have sufficient privileges." Recall that I already have administrator privileges.
    Suggestions?

"When I try to open a Chinese PDF, I get a message saying, "The Simplified Chinese Language Support Package is required to display this page properly." It then offers to install it, and I click "OK". Then it goes through the installation process."
I have the same problem, but I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit.  I have Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.3.2 installed.  After installation, it reboots my computer, but the same error comes up.  After doing this twice, I tried using Control Panel/Programs and Features to Modify the installation and add Simplified Chinese Language Support.  That process also completed succssfully (i.e. no error messages) but even after rebooting again, and re-entering control panel, it showed that the support had not been installed.  When opening the same document the same message was displayed.
It is clear that Acrobat 9.3.2 has an issue across a number of Windows platforms.  Will soneone (anyone?) from Adobe acknowledge this issue?

  • Font problem -- unwanted Chinese fonts

The image below shows the front panel of my application.  Three of the indicators have labels in Chinese, while the rest are in English as expected/desired.  Originally, they were all in English then suddenly some changed to Chinese.
The project explorer sometimes comes up in Chinese and other times in English.  The block diagram looks like
This makes the program unreadable for me.
This issues has been discussed in the past, and I have found no suitable solution other than to re-create the application.  An inconvenience for smaller apps, but a major problem with larger ones.
    Does anyone have any insight?

My insight: You should post this in the LabVIEW forum

  • Unable to install Chinese Character Fonts in CS4

    Hi,
Wondering if anyone successfully installed new chinese characters fonts in PS CS4?
I downloaded some fonts, managed to install in Windows but these chinese fonts are not reflected in PS. I'm currently using Vista.
I only have problem with chinese fonts as installation of other fonts works well.
The chinese fonts i'm trying to install are named HanDing-CS-Fonts (Truetype).
Can anyone help me out with this?
    Thanks! = )

I don't have that font, nor do I have CS4 yet, but I can make some guesses: some Googling inclines me to believe that the font is not well made. This thread over at DTPForum indicates that it doesn't even show up correctly in Character Map. That's not a good sign (I'm assuming you're using Windows platform, here). Is there any chance that it's showing up with a Chinese name in your font list? In your Type preferences, there's a "Show Font Names in English" checkbox.
Barring that, I've noticed over the years that poorly-constructed fonts with decent multilingual coverage often show up in the wrong language category in Adobe products. You may want to scroll through your RTL and Thai fonts (which Pshop will show, even if it can't use them) to make sure that there's not a new font in there that is showing up with a broken name.
These are all guesses, though. Best of luck.

  • Chinese Font Package

After I design the form template, and have it used in a process and renders into a pdf, then writes to the disk, now, when it is opened on another machine with basic acroat reader, it asks to download and install Chinese font package.
The client do not like that, where can I go about fixing this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi JoeTuf,
You need to install both Chinese font packs for Reader X (Reader XI comes with one combined Extended Font Pack).

    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4884
P.S. the latest Reader X version is 10.1.9; I recommend that you update to that version.

  • My fonts that are installed in Font Book are not showing up in Microsoft Word. Can someone help me fix this problem?

    Hello!
I am needing some help. I own a Mac Book Air with OS X 10.7.5. This computer belongs to the school district I teach for, so I do not have permission to do a huge wipe that would uninstall programs such as Word. When I first got my computer, I added all my fonts. I did this by putting them into a fonts folder. The fonts were not all showing up in Microsoft Word, so I was told to use Font Book. All of my fonts show up and are installed in Font Book; however, they do not show up in Word. I have restarted my computer. All the fonts are validated. I have tried almost everything I could think of after researching answers online. Another problem--my bullet points are messed up. When I click the bullet button, instead of an open circle it's an open rectangle. This doesn't concern me as much, but I thought it might help as a clue as to what is wrong. The fonts also do not show up in the Format > Font box.
Also, I want to point out that my colleagues, using the exact same computer, network, etc, are able to download and use all the fonts. They have tried to fix mine, also.
Any help is much appreciated! Maybe there is some way to wipe out my fonts and start clean?
    Thanks so much!

There's a whole lot to read in your post, and frankly I have not read it all.
Having said that, this troubleshooting guide should help:

In particular, pay attention to the mobile device support sections near the bottom, assuming you have already done the items above it.

Start by rebooting the computer. If that doesn't work, search for adobefnt*.lst and delete all instances where * becomes a 2-digit number.

Does anybody knows how i can fix this?

Yes, I ran into the same problem.  Mine is a fairly old (3 or 4 years) Mac Book, and I'm guessing that it came this way from the factory.  I don't think I have ever reformatted this hard drive.
And when I opened up Disk Utility, it was not immediately clear how to enable the journaling, as Im used to selecting the pick list, and that was not budging.
But under File there is a Enable Journaling option, and if you select the partition in Disk Utility, that option should become black and selectable.
If you do that, then Journaling will start.
    Hope that helps.
