Problems installing htmldb 2.0, totally new db/http server/htmldb install

I grabbed the new version of htmldb 2.0 and followed the install instructions that came with the htmldb 2.0 seperate download file. The scripts run fine etc. Evrything at default with default example db - orcl. But at a certain point I need to configure:
This is after the htmldb script has run and you need to configure the http server,
marvel.conf - I have not such a file in my Apache directory
dad.conf - really not clear what and how I need to change the values, no explination found either.

What to use for the PlsqlDatabaseConnectString localhost:1521:htmldbdv ServiceNameFormat ?????
I'm running a windows xp box. And the db and companion disc used are the latested found on OTN.
The instructions state that you use the following url as login:
http://hostname:port/pls/database_access_descriptor/
I don't get anything but an 404.
Completely lost. HELP!

I managed something, changed the PlsqlDatabaseConnectString to
PlsqlDatabaseConnectString 192.168.2.2:1521:orcl SIDFORMAT
When I now browse to the http://192.168.2.2:7777/pls/htmldb I see the login page, but how and with which credentials do I log in? Here is my dads.conf setup:
Alias /i/ "C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db\Apache\Apache\images/"
<Location /pls/htmldb>
SetHandler pls_handler
Order deny,allow
Allow from all
AllowOverride None
PlsqlDatabaseUsername test

PlsqlDocumentProcedure wwv_flow_file_mgr.process_download

I see no pictures, I think the Alias is oke, but maybe I'm missing something

  • Cannot find 11gR2 HTTP Server to install

I've recently upgraded a database from 10gR2 to 11gR2, and everything is working fine. However, a new project has come up that requires APEX, and I can't find any HTTP server in my ORACLE_HOME. I'd be happy enough to install it, but I can't locate the installation media to download. I've downloaded database_1of2, database_2of2, gateways, grid, client, and examples from the [OTN 11gR2 download page|http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle11g/112010_linx8664soft.html], but I don't find any "install HTTP server" options in the installers. Other posts refer to the Companion disk on 11gR1 and 10g, but I've not found a corresponding companion disk download for 11gR2.
I skipped whatever HTTP server option I may have been presented with when I installed 10gR2, so there has never been an HTTP server on this machine.
I'm confident that I can install it, if only I could find it. I'd be most appreciative if somebody can point me in the right direction.
    Thanks -
    Wally

Anyone have solved problem yet? I am searching the Oracle HTTP Server is installed in an Oracle home after Oarcle 11gR2 is installed. Where is Oracle HTTP Server? Thank you very much.
SumeiIt is no longer included in the database download.
If you really want the HTTP server, you need to download that from the Oracle Fusion Middleware downloads. http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/middleware/htdocs/fmw_11_download.html and look for Web Tier Utilities (11.1.1.2.0)
I have not investigated the license considerations of this. Let us know what you find.

  • HTTP server download/install problems

This experience so far has been so awful, I hopt there's a fundamental problem, like I'm trying to download from the wrong place or something.
I want to set up a Solaris HTTP server to serve up my portlets. I tried downloading the HTTP server from http://download.oracle.com/otn/solaris/apache/apache0921_solaris.tar. Most of the time, I get a timeout error when clicking the link. Once I actually got a download, but when I untarred the file (tar xvf apache0921_solaris.tar), I got a directory checksum error. I also got lots of files and directories, but it's not obvious what to do with them. Do I even have the right download? Is there a more responsive server I can use to try the download again?
    null

    Todd,
Thank you for pointing out the problem with the Solaris download of the Oracle HTTP Server. We have placed a new file on OTN and I have tested that it downloads and extracts okay. The file is larger than the previous version, so it will take longer to download. Please go ahead and try the new file.

  • Down Time for  Installing APEX 4.2.1 and oracle HTTP server?

    Hi, all:
I plan to install APEX 4.2.1 and oracle HTTP server on 10.2.0.4 database.
Is there any down time required during installation?
I mean during installation, do I need to block users from accessing the database?
Can they do their normal data entry / inquiry?
    thanks,
    John
ps. There will be server backup before installation.

    Hi,
    Documentation says
    >
    3.1 Recommended Pre-installation Tasks
Before installing Oracle Application Express, Oracle recommends that you complete the following steps:
Review and satisfy all Oracle Application Express installation requirements. See "Oracle Application Express Installation Requirements".
Shut down with normal or immediate priority the Oracle Database instances where you plan to install Oracle Application Express. On Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) systems, shut down all instances on each node.
An alternative to shutting down the database is to prevent all users from accessing Oracle Application Express when upgrading your installation from a previous release of Oracle Application Express. Oracle only recommends this option in high availability production environments where planned outages are not available. For all other scenarios, the database should be shut down.
To disable access to Oracle Application Express when the existing installation is using the Application Express Listener, shut down the appropriate application server where the Application Express listener is deployed.
To disable user access to Oracle Application Express when the existing installation is using the Oracle HTTP Server with mod_plsql, you should either shut down the Web server or disable the Application Express Database Access Descriptor of the Web server.
For an existing installation using the embedded PL/SQL gateway, you should disable the Oracle XML DB Protocol Server by setting the HTTP port to 0. This can be accomplished by starting SQL*Plus, connecting as SYS to the database where Oracle Application Express is installed, and running:
    EXEC DBMS_XDB.SETHTTPPORT(0);
Once you have prevented access from Oracle Application Express users, you should log into SQL*Plus as SYS, connecting to the database where Oracle Application Express is installed, and query V$SESSION to ensure there are no long running sessions which would interfere with the upgrade process.
Back up the Oracle Database installation.
Oracle recommends that you create a backup of the current Oracle Database installation before you install Oracle Application Express. You can use Oracle Database Recovery Manager, which is included in the Oracle Database installation, to perform the backup.
    See Also:
Oracle Database Backup and Recovery User's Guide
Start the Oracle Database instance that contains the target database.
After backing up the system, you must start the Oracle instance that contains the target Oracle database. Do not start other processes such as a Web Listener. However, if you are performing a remote installation, make sure the database listener for the remote database has started.

    Hi all.
I installed the Oracle HTTP Server from the Oracle 10G Release 1 companion CD on a Mac Powerbook running the Tiger OS. I have a CentOS Linux server on my network with Oracle 10G R2 database running that I've installed HTMLDB 2.0 on. I can not seem to get the HTTP server to serve up a front end to my HTMLDB. • Can the database cache be installed w/ 9ias http server only install

The 9ias 1.0.2.2 db cache is offered as an option only with the Enterprise install. This a 4.32 GB installation most of which I don't require like Forms, Reports, Discoverer etc.
Is there a way for me to install just the 9ias http server and the db cache??
Note, in the Enterprise install, even though you are given the option to deselect components , it has no effect. The installer still goes ahead and installs all the components.

For Http Server without any other components, you can go for
Core Edition of iAS10221 & during installation deselect
Oracle9iAS Web cache from Component Configuration & Startup

  • Totally frustrated with SQL Server Express Install

Before updating my PC to Windows 8.1 I had a working VS 2008 environment and SQL Express 2005. Now that I have upgraded the OS, I am unable to get any version of SQL Server Express to work with my version of Visual Studio. I spent a couple of weeks trying
to get what should have been a very simple process of creating a working connection string. None of the examples on several "connection string" web sites worked. I had difficulty installing the correct version and finally zeroed in on SQL
Server Express 2008 (SP3).  Then, after several posts to community forums I discovered it should have been installed BEFORE I installed VS 2008 ... so, very reluctantly, I uninstalled EVERY SQL Server related file and EVERY VS 2008 file on my system.
Reinstalled SQL Server 2008 (SP3), SQL Server Management Studio 2104 (even though I selected SSMS 2008 from the MS Download site), then installed VS 2008.  I opened and created a test DB using SSMS 2014 and everything seems to work.  BUT, when I
try to access the table from VS 2008 I pretty much am running into similar issues.... Like an earlier post on a frustrated user, WHY is it so difficult now?

    Hello,
You can use Visual Studio 2008 with SP1 installed, but SQL Server 2005 is not supported on Windows 8. I will recommend you to uninstall
SQL Server 2005 via Control Panel or use the following article for that purpose:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909967
Once SQL Server 2005 is uninstalled you can install other newer versions of SQL Server. SQL Server 2008 requires SP3 to make it compatible with Windows 8, while SQL Server 2008 R2 requires SP1. For more information, please read the following article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2681562
    Hope this helps.

  • I am trying to install Iphoto on my new MacBook Air adn the install button is grayed out  Any suggestions

I am trying to install iphoto 09 on my new MacBook Air and the install button is grayed out.  Both for installation and custom install.  Is there a problem that I am not aware of?

    Check for receipts
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

If I install 10giAS in differnet home, how can I get that in to appsTier?, does it mean adapcctl script no longer be used to start webservices?. • Install SSL certificate for Oracle HTTP server

I received a PFX file that contains an SSL wildcard certificate for our company *.xyz.com.
I used this tool "xca" to extract two files: "server.crt" and "serverkey.pem".
I want to install this on the oracle 11g HTTP server (OHS) installed as standalone based on apache 2.2
With oracle, i have to create a wallet and point the SSL.CONF wallet directive to use that wallet.
I used Oracle Wallet Manager to create it and import the certificate but this is where i am having a problems.
First I could not restart the web server but the it worked but I got SSL handshake errors (Shown below).
According to oracle steps, I have to create a CSR and then import the certificate into the wallet
    http://www.apache.com/resources/how-to-setup-an-ssl-certificate-on-apache/
However, when I tried to use Oracle Wallet Manager, there were two options: import server certificate and trusted certificate.
The import server certificate was greyed out. I had to create a CSR just to get it enabled but I did not use the CSR, i just imported the "server.crt" file.
I also tried to import the "serverkey.pem" into the trused certificate option but was rejected (invalid certificate).
Do you know how to create a successful wallet based on the files i have and not creating a CSR since i already have a certificate file?
