Problems moving mails out of Inbox

Hi,
We are having problems with a couple of users that occur when they manually move emails out of their Inbox in Outlook; they're complaining that the changes aren't re-conciled to their BB.
They are using Curve 8900's.
We've tried wiping their BB and re-setting them up but to no avail.
On the server-side we are using BES 5.0 installed on Windows Server 2003.
Kind regards,
Danny Cater

Hi and Welcome to the Forums
By default, BES uses Deleted Items as the trigger to remove an email from the BB. For the method you describe to result in the same, you need to enable Hard Deletes on the BES server...see this KB.

  • Problem moving Mail from old to new iMac

I followed instructions about moving Mail--with all mail folders and old emails intact--from my old PowerPC iMac to my new Intel 3.20 MHz iMac. I copied the folder "Mail" inside my user library and the "plist" file from Preferences onto my thumb drive from the old computer, then uploaded these files onto the new one. I was able to easily replace the "plist" file with the onscreen prompt (Do you want to replace?), but the Mail folder went into the Library folder as a duplicate only. So, I tried to delete the original and unused Mail folder, but everytime I sent to the trash and empty the trash, it magically reappears, so that my old emails don't show up when I open the Mail program. I know the files are there--but how do I make my new iMac recognize them and how do I delete the empty Mail folder that was on the new computer originally to avoid confusion? Thanks for any advice you can give.

You may need to rename the copy to be simply Mail. This is best done having first removed any Mail folder on the new Mac, but this should work as well.

  • Problem moving mail from one computer to another...

    Hello.
I'm trying to move a specific mailbox from one computer to another computer. I'm doing this to 2 pairs of machines and with the first pair I had no issues. But, then second pair I get errors.
On the first computer I just copied the .mbox folder (which contains the sub "Messages" folder & info.plist file) from the one computer to the other. Then, in mail.app I "import" the messages via the Import option (importing mail from Mac OS X). No problem and all messages are imported.
On the second pair of computers, I did the same thing, but when I try and Import the messages onto the second machine, it says it can't find any OS X mail messages to import.
I really need to get these messages from one machine to another. "Forwarding" or "Redirecting" all the messages from one machine to another isn't an option.
Can anyone suggest what might be wrong, or another way of migrating the single folder of messages (not the entire account) from one machine to another?
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

    Hi Kristin,
I stay away from mbox files because it has never worked for me, but I may have a solution. This may not be THE award winning answer, but you could consider it when the other options don't work:
I assume you want to import a mailbox that is NOT part of an IMAP account, because otherwise you would not have this problem (right?) (otherwise just open that IMAP account on the computer you want the messages on).
But if you have an IMAP account, besides the POP account that contains the mailbox in question, you can use that account to fix your problem:
Go to the compu that has the desired mailbox, make a new folder in the IMAP account called 'backup' or whatever. Copy all messages from the desired mailbox to that new IMAP folder (depending on size this may take a while, because you are uploading via your internet connection). Now go to the other compu, make a new 'local folder' in mail.app. Open the IMAP account in mail.app and open the 'back up folder'. Now copy all messages to the new, local folder.
If you don't have an IMAP account, you can always open a free one with gmail.
I know, it's not very elegant, but this will work guaranteed.
    Good luck,
    Feddeg

  • Using mavericks, mail, gmail. Moved messages reappear in inbox, then move.

Using mavericks, mail, and gmail and have been through the latest configuration recommendations (all mail is shown, etc.. When I drag a message from the inbox to a folder/label in mail it will reappear in the inbox briefly, then move to the destination folder. That odd bounce back to the inbox is amazingly annoying.
    Ideas?

Whenever I dragged messages from my Apple Mail Inbox to the Apple Mail Archive Gmail All Mail folder, they were returned to my Apple Mail Inbox within a few minutes. I read a number of posts here, and fiddled with settings in Apple Mail and Gmail, and made a host of other changes until I was red in the face, but no luck.
Then I reasoned that DRAGGING the mail items might be the problem, so I conducted an experiment which showed that whenever I dragged items to new folders, Gmail was not updated with the new label, and so the mail ended up back in my inbox. Whenever I MOVED mail items by means of the menu system, the mail moved successfully. Therefore it appears that Apple Mail does not change the mail labels if the mail is dragged, hence the original problem.
With this information, I opened Apple Mail and Gmail (in a web browser) and manually reconciled the Inboxes with each other. Once they were identical, I then customized the Toolbar in Apple Mail to include the Archive Icon, to make moving mail from the Inbox to the Gmail Archive All Mail, easy.
This solved the problem for me.

  • Problem collecting mail since 8th/9th - almost a s...

Is anyone having or aware of any general problems or issues collecting email since about Wednesday night 8th/9th June? -- I use OE.
BT has been my ISP for several years, so I have BT addresses as well as some set up with a former ISP (tesco.net) which are also of course handled via the BT Yahoo account. All are set up correctly (I've checked the settings are in place as they should be, and haven't been varied/altered for any reason), and they've always all worked without any problems at all since joining BT.
But between switching off the system in the early hours of Thursday morning and booting up again later in the day, collecting mail has been a nightmare. At first it seemed as if clicking Send/Receive froze it up, but I realised later on it wasn't actually stalling altogether -- it's just very, VERY slow. For instance it takes the best part of an hour to download one small message of a line or two, maybe about 2kb.
Outgoing SMTP mail for both lots of accounts via mail.btinternet.com is no trouble at all and works completely normally at the usual speed and with no issues. Only incoming mail is affected, but I can't think it's anything to do with the Tesco POP3 address, because it's not only affecting mail on those accounts, but the BT ones as well (mail.btinternet.com again). They're all having the same problem.
Of course I can check both sets of inboxes online for incoming messages, but it's a hassle as I use the various different accounts for different categories of mail, so it's less straightforward than the convenience of a desktop client which I'm so used to, where they come in to one place and I'm able to browse all my mail from there, as well as store it on the system and compose at leisure offline. Online means logging in and out of each one individually. I just hate webmail... call me old-fashioned!
Internet browsing is unaffected, with Firefox (and IE). My BB package renewed at the beginning of the month and I changed from Option 3 to Option 2, but (a) this was about a week before the problem began, and (b) I'm not sure it would have any bearing anyway.
So any general issues anyone's aware of which are going on at the moment, or any ideas?
    Many thanks.

I still have this problem. Yesterday I thought it might have sorted itself out, but no such luck. As I have several different email accounts (and they all have the same trouble whether it's a BT address or others from another ISP), I've only been trying to download mail for one account at a time (in turn) with OE, instead of all accounts at once.
Yesterday seemed no different to begin with, than it had been for the previous week -- clicked Receive for one of the accounts, the dialog box showed 3 messages to download, and as usual it was slow, slow, SLOW. The first message took all of about 50-55m to come in, and it was only 4kb! But then suddenly the other 2 following it came in at normal speed in a flash, as they should.
Tried another account where I knew there was mail in (having seen it on the server). They came in normally too. And so did all the rest of the accounts. Brilliant! -- I thought FINALLY, whatever the cause had been, I was through it. And I was thrilled as I'd been able to get all my mail in up to date at one sitting instead of the laborious process of going through each account in turn and having to walk away from the machine between them to do something else.
But a few hours later when I collected again, it was back to ultra-slow again. And today the same.
I've been searching around for some answers without a lot of luck: quite a few seem to report an overall slowness problem, or they're having problems sending mail out, but not so much my situation which only affects incoming mail. As I posted before, I can send normally, and the browser's also unaffected (so it's not the connection) -- it only happens with incoming mail.
Eventually I came across this 2009 page which seems to sum it up exactly:
http://www.nologinspace.com/show item.aspx?itemf=187&title=BT Internet POP Problems and Issues
There's no solution given, but it seems to nail the problem I'm having, and suggests it's some unknown issue to do with BT's POP servers.
Anyone come across this problem, or able to throw any more light on it? Or know what (if anything) can be done?
The only slight difference between their description and me is I don't get a timeout or error message, just sometimes the prompt "Your server has not responded in xxx seconds" and asking if I want to Stop or Wait. If that appears I tell it to wait, as my experience over the last week is the mail does arrive eventually if I wait long enough. Unlike them I haven't been deleting mail off the server either (except any spam), for the same reason. I've done that very occasionally in the past if one particular message persistently seems to be causing a logjam, but this doesn't strike me as one of those scenarios, because it's doing it over and over and over again, even when all previous mail has been cleared (excrutiatingly slowly!) from the accounts a few hours earlier, and every inbox is starting from empty with a completely new batch of different messages.
Any thoughts and possible solutions really appreciated.

  • Problems deleting mail from MAC

For the past few weeks (not everyday) I have had trouble deleting mail.
    The message is"
Message could not be moved to mailbox "trash iCloud"
The IMAP command "UID Copy" failed for the mailbox "inbox" with server error:  Mailbox is busy
I have also had trouble just moving mail from the inbox folder to other folders on my Mac.
At first I though it might be a cloud problem, but it has been going on too long!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Deanna

I am suddenly having the same issue in mac mail. Giving me an error message "email name cannot be moved to the mailbox null" "Destination mailbox null does not allow messages to be moved to it" I have no idea what mailbox "null" is. This just started happening a day ago... Any suggestions?

  • Problem with Mail after Mavericks download

I just downloaded mavericks and I'm having a problem moving messages from my inbox.  When I click and drag messages from my inbox to another folder, they move, but then show back up in my inbox a while later.  Then they are in both folders.  Any ideas?

Same issue my wife had. After login back onto iTunes and restoring from her last backup it was fine and all her info was back in place.

  • Anyone any advice on how to stop my mail "activity" from continuously caching? is this a problem? I have had inbox issues recently that are not resolved yet but I am not sure if they are related.

Anyone any advice on how to stop my mail "activity" from continuously caching? is this a problem? I have had inbox issues recently that are not resolved yet but I am not sure if they are related.

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Can't get into talk talk email account in Mozilla, you have undefined new mails in your inbox message. No problem with Internet Explorer though

I've been using the Firefox browser for nearly a year now but for the past three days I can't open my tiscali email account via Firefox. The message "you have undefined new mails in your inbox" comes up. Talk Talk technical help says there is a problem with Firefox and advised me to use Internet Explorer. I can get into my account through Explorer but would much prefer to use Firefox so please help me out.

Apparently TalkTalk mail will work with Firefox 4 and Firefox 5 ''if'' you set the browser to ''lie'' to TalkTalk mail by saying that you are still using version 3.6.
You can find the instructions for that in a post on the TalkTalk forums: [http://www.talktalk.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=185113#post2452787 Firefox 4 & TalkTalk webmail - Forums].
Note: when you open about:config the first time, it will display a warning message that you should be careful with the changes you make. That's definitely good to bear in mind.
    Does it work?

  • Unusual problem, my mail in inbox dissapears!

    Hi,
Just got an new Mac Mini. Imported everything automatically from my old G4 onto it. But....
My Mail Inbox is acting strange. ALL THE OTHE MAILBOXES ARE FINE, but the inbox shows I only have 91 messages when I used to have around 1000!!
On top of this, a random selction of messages in (and only in) the inbox don't display and instead show in italics something along the lines of "message cannot be displayed as it cannot be downloaded until account is taken online" or something along those lines.
The thing is, the account IS online and is working fine in all other aspecs. It is a POP3 account.
I have tried re-importing manually. No luck.
ANY IDEAS ANYONE? I NEED MY MAIL BACK!!!!
    Thanks

    Hi RedHavoc.
Not sure what makes you think this is an unusual problem. Actually, it's quite common. The conversion from Mail 1.x to Mail 2.x is broken. Take a look at the following thread to better understand the problem:
Help! "You need to take this account online in order to download it."
In particular, you may want to take a look at the following article (also referenced in that thread) to learn what you might have done before upgrading to minimize the risk of this happening, and what you may do after fixing the problem to avoid similar issues from happening in the future. DON'T do now what the article suggests, though, as that would make things worse in the current situation:
    Overstuffed mailbox is unexpectedly empty
More specifically, if this is a POP account, the following procedure should allow you to fix the Inbox problems:
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. Make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong while trying to fix the problem. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is stored.
    3. Create a new folder on the Desktop and name it however you wish (e.g. Inbox Old). It doesn't need to have an .mbox extension.
    4. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/INBOX.mbox/.
    5. Move the files mbox and Incoming_Mail out of INBOX.mbox, into the Inbox Old folder just created on the Desktop. These files contain all the messages that were in the mailbox before the upgrade to Tiger, and maybe even some messages that had been deleted. mbox is the most important. Incoming_Mail may or may not be present.
    6. Move any strangely-named Messages-XXXXXX folder to the Desktop (not into the Inbox Old folder). These folders are to be deleted after fixing the problem. They are temporary folders created during an import or an indexing process, and Mail should have deleted them when done. Their presence is a clear indication that something didn't work as expected. If you've been using Mail after the conversion and have already tried to fix the problem by rebuilding the mailbox or something like that, they might contain messages that are neither in Messages proper nor in the mbox file, so keep them around until the problem is fixed.
    7. Move everything else within INBOX.mbox, except the Messages folder, to the Trash.
The result of the above should be that INBOX.mbox contains the proper Messages folder only, and the Inbox Old folder on the Desktop contains the mbox and Incoming_Mail (if it exists) files only. Now, proceed as follows:
    8. Open Mail.
    9. The account's Inbox should properly display in Mail as many messages as *.emlx files are in ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/INBOX.mbox/Messages/. If that's not the case, select the mailbox in Mail and do Mailbox > Rebuild.
    10. In Mail, do File > Import Mailboxes, choose Other as the data format, and follow the instructions to import the Inbox Old folder that's on the Desktop. Do with the imported mail whatever you wish. You may move to the account's Inbox the messages that Mail failed to convert properly, and delete those that did get through and, hence, are duplicates now.
The following collection of AppleScripts has a Remove Duplicates script that can be useful for removing duplicate messages:
    http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Mail_Scripts.html
If all is well and you're not missing anything, the files on the Desktop can be deleted, although you may want to keep them for a while, just in case.
Ask for any clarifications or if you need further assistance.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder.

  • I cannot delete mail from my inbox and get a message saying (msg) could not be moved to the mailbox trash-POP account".

I suddenly cannot delete mail from my inbox and get a message saying " (msg) could not be moved to the mailbox trash-POP account".  It does not matter if I am trying to delete a single message or mulitiple messages.  Can anyone help?

If you're running Leopard, as your profile says, then you need to post your question in that forum, not the Snow Leopard forums. So if you're really running Snow Leopard, you need to update your profile to show that, as well as give more details about what kind of mail accounts you have, and who your email provider is.

  • Problem setting up smtp mail out .

Hi all you good people .
I am having a problem setting up the mail program . I'm using mail two under os-x leopard 10.5.7 . I have the pop mail working fine , but for some reason or another it wont send the mail out . I remember I got it working before , but it was a pain in the butt to do . So I ma forced to use Microsoft Entourage for my mail receiving and sending . I think Microsoft Takes more skill to use than the apple mail program .
I would love for someone to help me solve this . My mail server is from time warner . I use there High speed internet for my mail access .
    P.S Roadrunner .

    Hi,
I assume you are using Mail 3.6, and not "mail two"?
What Authentication are you using on this SMTP? If not already, try using None, and removing Password and Username from SMTP setup for at least one test. Most Roadrunner SMTP are authenticated by reference to the IP address of your Modem, and using a separate authentication of the SMTP results in failure.
Mail Preferences/Accounts/Account Information, then click on the arrows beside the name of the SMTP in the section on Outgoing Server. After you click on the arrows, choose Edit Server List. Then if the SMTP is set up with the correct name, etc, click on the Advance Tab, use Custom Port with Port 25, None as authentication, and do not enter any Username and Password. Under authentication of None, the name of the SMTP will not have your Username appended. This is the equivalent, after having previously done the set up, to those email clients with a setting to use the info of the Incoming for authentication.
Let us know, but Roadrunner can vary from area to area on this, but this is the way it seems to always work.

Hi were you able to resolve yours?
I was very worried losing all my medical stuff on my iPad Air 2, plus i have nothing to use for the next day! So i have to try all the possible things i read on the internet!! And this worked on my part (Thank God, and thank you Google)
    Perform a hard reboot
Hold down the Home button and Power button on your iPhone or iPad and keep holding them until you see the Apple logo. Once you do, you can let go. When your device boots back up, go ahead and check to see if the apps have started re-downloading. If they still appear to be stuck, continue on.

  • Problem-Solution: Help! Whenever I Archive a read e-mail from my Inbox, it shows up in Archive as Unread.

Problem: Help! Whenever I Archive an already read e-mail from my Inbox, it shows up in Archive as Unread.
    Solution:
    Open Mail.app >
If your vertial mailbox list on the right is already showing, then skip the next step.
Click [View] then [Show Mailbox List] >
Delete the Smart Mailbox "Today" from the list. >
    Quit Mail, then re-open it.
    Why is this happening?
I've seen this since Mavericks 10.9 launched but it's likely to have existed earlier than this. My conjectural opinion is that using a Smart Mailbox like "Today" (turned on by default) seem to exacerbate this behavior. I've noticed it happens a lot more often than not with a Gmail account as well, even running 10.9.1.

    Update to above question:
    Hello All,
To anyone with the same problem described above, on THEIR iPad (if it is running iOS 7.0.2):
Go to Settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; DELETE your *******@btinternet.com e-mail account, that you originally set up either using 'Other', or the 'BT' option which I am sure was in the list previous to the iOS 7 update.
Then ADD a NEW account choosing YAHOO from the list of options. DO NOT USE 'OTHER'.
Enter the correct details just as you (almost certainly) had already done in your previous attempts using 'other'.
When you see the 'verifying......' and 'the blue ticks' you should be able to exit settings and open your mail app and then receive all your 'old' e-mails again, AND be able to SEND as well.
All my 'old' e-mails, were NOT found in the 'old e-mail' folder though. THEY are still in my inbox.
So this fix worked for me.
After I deleted my account from 'OTHER' and put it in Yahoo, I like other people also ended up with more folders.
I hope this works for you on YOUR Apple devices.
    Bob
