Problems on updating from 3.04 to 3.06

Hi,
I have Ovi Maps 3.04 installed on my X6. So far, so good.
When I try to update to the newest one through Ovi Suite, I get the infamous message "Something's gone wrong".
I tried everything, reinstalling Ovi Suite, switching off phone, restoring to factory settings, nothing.
I then dowloaded the sis file from Nokia website. By clicking on it twice I am able to install the newest Ovi Maps, but whenever I run it on the phone, it runs version 3.04!
When I go to Settings -> Installed Applications, I can see the 3.06 version there. I tried removing it, I did. However, 3.04 is still there, I can run it and it is not listed in the Installed Apps. How can I get rid of 3.04 and have 3.06 on my phone?

Have you tried removing 3.04 from installed apps , then load 3.06 ? This may solve it ! also you need to update the maps data on Ovi suite, as the 3.06 version needs later map data than 3.04, Ovi suite will remove your current data and instalkl the new regional maps !

Performance problems after Update from 7.6.00.37 to 7.6.03.15

after the Update from 7.6.00.37 to 7.6.03.15 in our live system we noticed a lot of performance problems. We have tested the new version before on our test system, but there don't noticed effects like this.
We have 2 identical systems (Opteron 64 bit, openSuse 10.2) with log shipping between them. We updated first the standby system, switched from online to standby (with copy of cold log) and started the new server as online system. After that we run a complete backup (runtime: 1 hour) for starting a new backup history and for activating autolog. Then
With the update we changed USE_OPEN_DIRECT to YES, but the performance of the system was very slow afterwards. After the backup it remains at a high load average (> 10, previous system had about 2-4), with nearly 100% of CPU usage for the db kernel process.
Next day we switched USE_OPEN_DIRECT back to NO. The system first runs better, but periodically rises up to a load average of 6 and slow down the performance of various applications (somebody says about 10 times slower). Here we also noticed a high usage (now 200-300%) of the db kernel process.
Our questions are:
1. Has something basically changed from 7.6.00.37 to 7.6.03.15, so that our various applications (JDBC, ODBC and Perl/SQLDBC partially on old linux systems with drivers from 7.5.00.23) don't reach same performance as before?
2. Are there any other (new) parameters, which can help? Maybe reducing MAXCPU from 4 to 3 for reserving capacities for the system (there is only one maxdb instance running)?
3. Is the a possibility to switch back to 7.6.00.37 (only for worst case)?
I have made some first steps with x_cons, but don't see any anomalies on the first look.

Hmm... that is really odd. When using USE_OPEN_DIRECT there is actually less work to do for he operating system.

Well of course there are bugs that have been found inbetween the release of both versions, but I am not aware of something like the performance killer.
We will have to check this in detail here.

Hmm... the question here is still, if the execution plans are good enough to meet your expectations.
E.g. for tables that you access via the primary key it actually doesn't matter how many rows a table has (not for MaxDB at least).

Sounds like the I/O is your most suspect aspect for overall system performance...

Ok - so this is next to no testing at all when it comes to performance.

Why do you want to do that? Have you observed any threads that don't get a CPU because all 4 cores are used by the MaxDB kernel?

Problems after updating from Mavericks to Yosemite.

Hello everyone.I have noticed some battery problems after updating from Mavericks to Yosemite like no charging at all (but the orange led was on )and not able to fully charged.I solve them with SMC reset and PRAM reset.Furthermore, battery discharges faster than before and its really annoying.Now I have notice that the upper right corner of my mac is getting hot.I'll appreciate any help

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
    b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button.             because it is three times faster than wireless.
5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.

Thinkpad G40 keyboard problems after updating from W98 to W7

Hi community users.
I'm new here with a, for me, typical problem.
I’m having a problem with my Laptop keyboard IBM ThinkPad G40, type: 23884SG, Windows 7.
Since I updated from Windows 98 to Windows 7 the keyboard definition is wrong. I’m not able to find the right configuration of it on base of the standard list of country and language definitions in W7.
Who can help me with this.
I already installed some drivers from the Lenova site but nothing seems to help.
So the problem is that I can’t find the right service from the country and language menu to the keyboard in W7.
All suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks for your response to my problem.
Problem isn't the choice of the specific language. The problem after the update is that I'm not able to choose the right combination of language and the type of keyboard selection in Windows 7. The selection list is long: from South-Africa to Sweden.
Although most of the characters on the keys on the lower part of the keyboard correspond with the ones on the screen but especially the keys on the upper part don't.
So I'm searching to a correct selection of the combination language and specific type of keyboard. Or there must be some driver witch can be download.

Problem with update from ODS to Cube

Hi All,
I had an issue, when i was loading from ODS to Cube everything was fine except one data package failed coz of some object locked( User : myself, though i wasn't running anything else except this), but i check in SM12 no locks exist for that particular time.
apparently the load failed coz of this single package, its a load from ODS to Cube, so no chance of Manual update from PSA.
any suggestion: do i have to repeat that load all over again( sucks !!! it is for 40 mil)

Check the Job log fro ur Job in the SM37 and check for that Datapackage is there any thing failed liek
"ARFCSTATE-SYSFAIL" if this is there .. it means its an Deadlock .. please check the ST22 dump...
U can use the PSA...
1) go to the 8ODS infosource and copy the Delta IP
2) check the option in the processsing as Update PSA and the subsequently into the data targets
3) Schedule the IP manually

Serious performance problems after updating from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7

I've got a Macbook Pro C2D 15" (late 2006). After updating the system from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7 and quicktime to 7.6.2, I experience serious performance problems which I have never seen before:
-From time to time, kernel_task has peaks in activity monitor (consumes a lot of CPU). In that moment, the mouse hangs for a short moment and audio playback is distorted/has drop outs.
-Recording audio consumes a lot of CPU (independent of the audio application).
-Video playback consumes a lot of CPU, regardless if I use VLC or the quicktime player.
Any idea what could be done? Thanks in advance.

After a few days of using CoolBook I report that my 1st generation MacBook Air is now reliable and never overheating, regardless of environment conditions.
I must point out that I do believe that it really is something new in 10.5.7 that is causing this problem as my environmental conditions have not changed and even Summer in Dublin still sees temperatures no more than 72F/22C. I am now in Madrid, where the environment is quite different, and I am still having no problem with kernel_task spinning.
I plan on reporting my problem to Apple anyway and being aggressive about the issue as MacLovinRanga did in this thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9647353#9647353). Perhaps many/all of those of us having this problem will obtain new MacBook Airs.

I got a View which contains a tree control. For this tree control I implemented the method onActionSelect.

Errors occur if there are inconsistencies between the Engine (e.g. Support Package 5) and the Developer Studio (e.g. Support Package 6).
Other "Class not found exceptions" or "No such method exceptions" may appear in the case of other Support Packages. Unfortunately, this results in a termination of the application at runtime.
You must ensure that the local version of the Netweaver Developer Studio has the same version level as the CBS
configuration.
In particular, the IDE plug-ins must not have a higher version than the generators of the CBS. Possible is a lower version of the IDE.

Problems Installing Updates from WSUS - Error Code 0x800f0826

Hi Everyone,
I have a WSUS server that I am using to dish out updates to the rest of my network. I am using PC's with Windows Vista SP1. Most of my PC's are installing updates fine with no problems - but there are a certain few that will not install any updates and return the error 0x800f0826.
All of the PC's are from the same image - so there is nothing different in the software setup that I am aware of.
I have been browing the net for ages, and have tried a few fixes - for example:
Starting Various Services and Setting to Automatic - No Luck
Renaming the SoftwareDistribution Folder - No Luck
Checked update history for failed updates and unassigned potential problem update - No Luck.
I am running out of ideas now - can anyone help?

Nothing but problems since update from v5

Is there any way that I can uninstall iphoto 6 and go back to v5? I have had nothing but problems since this update. At first no photos were imported, then once I imported them (which took a couple of hours), many of them are duplicates that I now need to sort. But the worst part is that many of them are thumbnails that are too small so that when i try to drag a photo into iWeb everything is pixelated and looks horrible. I have spent hours reading this help site and tried BatChmod and iPhoto library manager and rebuilt the thumbnails but still have these problems. I don't understand why everything worked beautifully in v5 and this "update" is causing so many problems. I didn't really want to update iPhoto in the first place. I bought iLife so that I could use iWeb and the other apps automatically installed. This is extremely frustrating.
Sorry for the frustrated tone - I'm just at wits end dealing with this for the last few days...

Thanks for taking time with this. Yes, when I first installed I also updated to 6.04.
Below, my responses:
"Very strange. Upon the initial opening of iPhoto6 your library photos are reorganized into a new folder structure different than methods employed by earlier versions of iPhoto. Once completed iPhoto ought to open automatically revealing your Photo Library as it existed in iPhoto 5. Either:
- iPhoto 6 never processed your original library and instead simply created a new Photo Library (hence the blank library you saw - moving the Library to a location other than the Pictures folder, or naming the Library something other than iPhoto Library could be contributing causes),
- or the app didn't work properly, which I doubt."
*It seems that it must have created a new Photo Library. I didn't rename or move the file prior to the update as far as I know. It was in the Pictures file and appeared to be fine, but when I opened iPhoto, the library was blank and said No Photos.
"It sounds like the problem began with the initial reorganization. Do you remember getting a prompt from the app. asking you which library you wanted to reorganize? Do you have multiple libraries? Have you used iPhoto Library Manager?"
I don't remember getting a prompt asking which library, but it could have happened. No, I only had one photo library. I only used Library Manager after I encountered the problem of the empty library and turned to this forum for advice.

If it's the former, you could trash the entire iPhoto Library folder in your existing Pictures folder, then move the backup library intact into the Picture folder. Well... no, I didn't have a current backup prior to the initial opening of iPhoto6. Completely my fault there.
"If the backup is after the reorganization, from what you describe, it seems your backed-up libraries may not have been reorganized. Advice is the same as in the previous paragraph."
I did that as well - launched hold option key, etc. Then I had photos after a few hours of rebuilding. That was good, but now I'm not sure what to do with all of the thumb sized duplicates. I think that all of the photos are there, just organized in a bit of a strange way - I usually had my library organized by roll according to date - and the rebuilding put things in strange orders and also merged some rolls, etc. For the most part though, each rebuilt roll is either fullsize or thumbsize, so that is a bit helpful. Since none of the previously sorted albums survived the update installation it's just very time consuming sorting through thousands of pics.
What I've done now is sorted rolls into fullsize and thumbsize, as a start to making sure that I have duplicates of all photos in both sizes before I do anything else. Once I have that job completely finished, what should I do with all of the thumbsize duplicates? Do I need the thumbs? Can I take them out of the viewing window of the application?
Of course I was planning on doing a backup the week that I got the new software but was too excited to install to remind myself to do the backup first... A good lesson to learn I suppose.

Problems since update from Windows 8 to 8.1

So the other day the Windows 8.0 side of my 27-inch, Late 2013 iMac with Fusion drive forced me up update to Windows 8.1 - it just started doing it automatically when I was on my lunchbreak. It seemed to update fine, and everything seemed to work once it booted up in 8.1. I noticed that the sound was no longer working on the Windows 8.1 side - it would only make the startup sound after a restart/turning on, and there was a red light coming out of the audio jack. Sound worked fine on the Mac side still. So, I updated the drivers here (Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5640) based on my computer model. During the instal of the drivers, it said "Need to repair drivers", and then went on to install without any problems that I could see.
This has now fixed the Sound driver issue, but now my keyboard is stuck in French mode (I think?) where when I type the "/?" character, it types "é" or "É". I cannot seem to fix this by going into Languages in Control Panel, or by re-installing the drivers.
What can I do? Are there any more details I can give to help someone problem solve this with me?

For the issue, let us try rebuilding performance counters to check the result.
Press Win+x, and click Command Prompt(admin)
Type "CD c:\windows\system32",and Enter.
Type "LODCTR /R", and Enter.
Note: This let you rebuild the perf registry strings and info from scratch based on the current registry settings and backup INI files.

Mobile App problem after update from Flex SDK 4.5 to 4.5.1

I have a mobile app that built in SDK 4.5 and running ok until update the SDK to 4.5.1 and then the app only loads the splash page and not even to to the firstview. The screen just stop at the splash page and no reaction, no debug window popup (test on the computer). If I change back to SDK 4.5, everything goes normal. Does anyone has the same issue? Please help.
I am in Win 7, Flash Builder SDK 4.5.1 plugin in Eclipse Helios.

Thanks for your respond. I wish I could show you my app; however this project is pretty big. Besides the UI part that was built for mobile, there are also part of the codes are including (referenceing) the old desktop project that still are complie in SDK 4.1. Mainly for the referencing codes to the old project are Caingorm's commands and service locators part, for getting the service call. Everything is fine and running on computer and mobile devices when using SDK 4.5.
I can try to build something to see if it will show the same situation. Thanks.

I updated from Mavericks to OS X Yosemite without backup

I haven't try any temporary fixes other than restart and download again.
Problem: I update from Mavericks to SO Yosemite without back-up. Everything is great but now iPhoto will not open even after I downloaded the iPhoto Library Upgraded available from Apple.
Question: Anyone else having the same problem and if so how do i fix this?
Problem: I have an external hard drive of 500 GB for my Time Machine but afraid to use it because it might delete my previous work and photo.

I have a 2008 iMac and a 2008 MacBook Pro and had the same issue with iPhoto after installing Yosemite.
I downloaded the latest iPhoto and then got the message to run the iPhoto Library Upgrader which I did.After that I opened the new iPhoto and it upgraded all my pics.
Are you sure you have the latest iPhoto - available free from the App Store?

Fire fox 14 is crashing every 15 minutes. Usining win7 .This is after updating from FF13. require a solution.

[solved]Update from kernel 3.3.6 to a newer kernel leads to module fai

Back in may 2012 I observed a strange problem: The update from kernel 3.3.6 to kernel 3.3.7 resulted in all modules failing to load. So: No keyboard, no mouse, no network, no graphics, no CPU scaling, maybe no other things that I'm not aware of. So till today I'm forced to use kernel 3.3.6 in order to be able to use the system. The problem persists even after the upgrade of kmod and glibc. But this can't last forever since the old kernel already starts to make some problems e.g. with the new modules path structure after the glibc update. So I wonder how I can diagnose the problem. Some remarks that might be helpful: It's not hardware related because I'm running an old installation which works perfectly. The only differences that I'm aware of between the installations are: 32Bit(working) - 64bit(not working); installed on: HDD (working) - SSD (not working); no external /boot (working) - external /boot (not working); GRUB installed: on the same drive as / (working) - on a different drive as / (not working). Of course some config files might also be different but at least the /etc/rc.conf are very similar (the MODULES and DAEMONS arrays are identical). But the problem is that not only the modules from the MODULES array cannot be loaded but also many other modules.

Do you have a bootable clone from prior to the update? If so, roll back with that.
Are your apps that won't open PPC and do they need Rosetta? Do you need to activate Rosetta?
Have you considered reinstalling 10.6 from your install disc and then coming forward with the 10.6.8 Combo Updater, then doing software update and not including whatever it was you installed that caused this propblem?
By the way - what update was it that caused this problem?
