Can anyone help me with more description in Support Phase................ i have couple of questions.
What are the responsibilities in a Support Phase of a Implementation project faced by Support team?
What are the common issues / problems to which they provide support?

you probably can get a book written as an answer on the couple of questions
suggest you take a look at the ASAP methodology - production support strategy

also there would be varouos support methodologies mentioned in various consulting company websites that might help you build your own
as for common issues/problems... totally depends on your support level
could start form BAU support to only high level trouble shooting...

    ny customer use Charm Implementation project for managing roll-outs of new countries in his SAP ECC Landscape.
    Now Test Phase is going to end and he asks himself: "how can I manage issues after go live in Charm?"
    If I have to create additional TRs for bug fixing in the weeks after go-live can I manager them in Charm?
    I know there is the function for create TR direct in Talsk List, is this the correct way?
    In other words, do I manage issues after go-live out of Change Documents using Task list?
    As you know, Is there any best practices from SAP od from elsewhere?

    thanks for you contributions.But I realize I didn't explained myself completly.
    My situation is similar to what Bob described,
    I'm not in an ideal world (do you remember Clint Eastwood and Kevin Costner), and I think neither you.
    But, in my case there are not open TR to be recovered in project, but I suppose I'll have to open some TR (I hope a few) for fixing bug that will happen in production in the days post roll-out.
    So I wouldn't like to manage there fix in a maintenance project, because the reason of these bugs is in TR imported in roll-out.
    What I would like to do is to regress project to the Test phase (I don't need new CR and NC!) and open few Test Messages for fixing bugs.
    I'suppost It should be possilble.In your opinion?
    Ideas?

    In Payroll live support mostly user mistakes will be there, i.e. Postings of IT0014 might be done in IT0015 and also entering wrong details might be the reason.  Whatever the issue in payroll please analyse the problem in your perview and try to give possible answer in you authorization, if unable contact SME's.

    I am currently involved in a GATP implementation project.
    I would like know that -
    1. What are commonly encountered GATP related problems during Go-Live?
        [I have already prepared a list for the same. Some of the root causes are like -
        1. Incorrect strategy group maintained in the material master.
        2. During CIF model creation 'Availability Check' check box not activated.
        3. Availability check and allocation should be activated for the schedule line.
        4. Incorrect rule maintenace for RBA. (RBA04)
        5. Incorrect rule assignment for RBA. (AO11)
        6. Incorrect Check instruction.
        7. Incorrect Check control
        and so on.....]
    2. Is there any check list available in the forum for the same?

    Hi Piyush,
    1) You definitely need to ensure that your OVZJ settings are as expected in the production system after go-live as it can lead to zero confirmations or incorrect confirmations if is is missed.
    2) Coming to Product allocation, hope you know that system cannot read "0" allocation figure and to counter the same, perhaps you may need to build a solution to make it as "-1" so that system understands it better
    3) In the area of ODLs, you will face issues with incorrect data being available in ODLs, this is caused because of some inconsistencies ( I am sure ODLs as a concept is not fully fool proof ). You need to schedule the program /SAPAPO/ODLR in the production system weekly or if the data is less schedule it daily
    4) It may also happen that the logistics team had introduced some new calendars and APO team is unaware of it and you may encounter issues in Scheduling. Try to make sure that the time streams are created correctly and at the same all the relevant route scheduling condition records are correctly maintained w.r.t the data in the source system.
    5) Do a test run on Availability check immediately after system goes-live. this will tell you if there is any problem with the RFC connection, Live cache errors etc.,
    There could be many more apart from this.

    I'm getting a contact Apple Support message when trying to purchae in itunes.  Unable to buy anything.  Live support says "read terms and conditions".  No place to confirm acceptance.  No additional help available.  Seems crazy - All I want to do is give them my money....Anybody?

    This is a follow up. Finally, after almost 72 hours, I recieved another email from the original iTunes support representative. According to her, the problem is that one or more of my songs on the account are either not eligible for the upgrade or the file is corrupted and can not be upgraded. In short I cannot use the "Buy All" feature because I will always hit this roadblock. The only way to resolve this, is to upgrade each song individually or select a few songs at a time to upgrade.
    I will have to do this until I get the song or songs that is causing the problem. Once I have identified the song(s), I can chose to repurchase them and get a refund. All songs today are at the DRM free format so repurchased songs will automatically be the upgraded file.
    So I'll now begin the upgrade of the 314 songs. I guess it could be worse.
    Okay, I got an answer and an offer of a refund, but this answer certainly could have been provided three days ago. Am I being unreasonable?

    under windows 7 - 8.1right click on your desktop and choose screen resolution set a very basic resolution like 1280x1024 @ 60Hz (frequency can be set under advanced options); you need to have a working monitor to set this and then reboot connecting your al1916w. if it still gives you that message, can be a bad cable or some hardware monitor issue.

    Post Go Live support is usually much more expensive, as it is performed by the original implementation team right after cut-over. Issues get fixed quickly though, as you have an experienced team who knows the configuration and business processes.
    Support is much cheaper, as the company tends to hire full time employees, or outsource this role. Since the main implementation is complete, and the support will be longer-term, Companies really go a lot cheaper on support. The experience comes commensurate with the pay as well, so the issues take a lot longer to fix.
    Bug Fixation, I beleive, is illegal in most Western European countries, the U.S. and Canada, so I'd rather not comment on that, and frankly that whole concept kind of freaks me out

    Please let us know what is standard /best practice for below activities in SAP Support phase?
    Who will responsible for Authorization Matrix?
    Who will be first point of contact (Functional / Basis Consultant) to SAP user for any new authorization request?
    Who will do the testing & impact analysis of new authorization?
    If we provide any new SAP transaction code to the end user & user is facing authorization object issue then who will be first point of contact for user Functional / Basis Consultant?
    Also who will be fist point of contact (Functional / Basis Consultant) for new User ID creation request?
    In our current practice Functional consultant is dealing with end user. He is taking requirement of new Report/Transaction access request & doing analysis. Then he is taking approval from BPO & based on BPO approval Functional consultant is providing training to end user. When end user is accepted requested report requirement in standard report or transaction data process then Functional consultant is sending request to Basis consultant along with authorization parameters like Role, Organization parameters, type of activity (create/change/display/delete) etc.
    Our Basis consultant is not agreeing for this process & he want to directly deal with end user for all activities & he will take help of Functional consultant if required.
    Sorry friends this is not technical discussion but it is create big dispute between our internal support team regarding who will be first point of contact for any authorization related issue?

    Authorization Matrix that define "what position may have access to which authorization/ role" shall be developed by User (Management), with support from BASIS. User is the one who have the authority to decide, while BASIS should help User in understanding the technical knowledge of access authorization.
    2 to 5. BASIS.

  • Problem updating chipset drivers w-Live update

    Hi,
    I don't think my problem is directly related to live update but when I try to update to the current via chipset drivers, the setup seems to go fine and all files are extracted properly, but right when I click install,, near the end of the setup,, I get this....the error, Can't run 16-bit Windows program. It reads Cannot find C:\Documents and settings{the path to the temp directory\setup.exe (or one of its components).  It cant find the setup. I think It's related to my user account. I am logged on as administrator. Has anyone ever had this problem ? I only started experiencing this after I deleted an old user profile. Live update has allways worked just fine. Can I show setup the correct path ?? by the way, this happens even when I try manually without using live update. Help ?
    This is a great mobo. I have never had a problem with the MSI products I've used.

    Ok, I believe I found a workaround. Source of the issue, according to some XP forums, is Windows XPs issue to handle 16-bit programs without limitations ... or 321Studio's idea to use those applications. More specifically, XP has issues to handle 16-bit applications which are in subdirectories longer than 8 characters, e.g. C:\Program Files\321 Studio\....\etc. You can either tinker with the way XP treats these 16-bit programs in the registry (I am neither good enough nor brave enough for this) or you just alter the length of the directories.
    Anyway, here is what I did:
    Install the downloaded DVDXCOPY into a short directory, e.g. C:\DVDXCOPY (that may or may not have been key, but ist was part of succeeding).
    Then I copied the entire driver_install file into a newly created short folder called C:\Short (and that was definetely key to succeed!)
    Then I ran the setup exe file in the copied driver_install folder ... and voila! Program installed, 16-bit or not.
    And what is more, after a restart a did my first project (Bridget Jones PAL) and it worked.
