Problems Saving Document as PDF

My name is Jessica. I work at a local party store and I am their graphic designer for banners, etc. I work with Corel Draw, and when I was attempting to save a banner as a PDF through Corel Draw, something went wrong. I did all the normal steps, but when I went to open the PDF and proof check it in Reader, it showed up as a blank document. It was the same size as the document I created, but there was no color or text on the document, just white. Can anyone help me out here? We need to fix this as soon as possible or we can't make any banners for our customers.

It appears that you did not use any Adobe program to create the pdf. Something appears to have gone wrong with the pdf creation. I'm not a big fan of Corel Draw these days. I'd suggest downloading a 30-day trial of Acrobat and see if you can print from Corel to the Adobe PDF printer instance. If that works well, maybe your employer will consider either purchasing Acrobat. If Acrobat is too expensive, then there is an Acrobat Createpdf service as part of acrobat.com that can be a more affordable alternative.

Hi - i've been having this issue for over a month (since my company migrated to Windows 7) and JUST found the fix today. My issue was that I could successfully convert the PDFs, but once I tried to save them, Internet Explorer would crash.
The problem was that I needed to upgrade my Adobe Flash Player.
Oddly enough, it wasn't Adobe that told me this - I didn't get any errors or any upgrade suggestions on the Adobe site. Our Service Technician installed another web browser, Firefox (I had been using IE8), I logged in and tried to do a conversion, and then got the notification that Adobe Flash Player was out of date.
Once I upgraded Adobe Flash Player, it works fine, even in IE8.
    Hope this helps!

  • Problem saving files to PDF in Illustrator CS4 [Mac]

    Hi all,
I'm having a problem with saving files as PDF's in illustrator CS4 - something I've happily done for years until about a week ago.
It seems to be something to do with the "Save As" command. When I select Save As and then select PDF, the PDF saves as a copy of the current file rather than it saving as a file itself. It also doesn't rename itself properly. Saving a file in the .ai format seems unaffected.
The multiple page function also seems to be affected - I can create multiple pages no problem, but upon saving the PDF reads as a single page PDF in both Acrobat and Preview. Reopening the same file in Illustrator reveals that the extra pages are there, but not showing in the PDF.
Any thoughts? I've trashed preferences and repaired permissions, but no joy....
    Any help greatly appreciated

Have you entered specific artboards in "use artboards"?

  • Saving documents to pdf degrades image quality significantly

I am using AW 6.2.9 to produce a monthly newsltter that always includes a photo or two. I keep the photos I insert at a high resolution quality. However, when I save to pdf to send to my organization to print it, the quality of the photo degrades significantly and the printout of the photo in the newsletter looks terrible. I have tried everything I know of in how I am saving to pdf, but nothing seems to work.
Any ideas on what I need to do to keep the quality consistent between AW and saving to pdf?

Since you are using AppleWorks, what format are the graphics before inserting them in the AppleWorks document? I'm guessing that the images are JPEGs. AppleWorks changes the resolution of all graphic formats except PICT to 72 dpi. There are a couple of things you can do improve the print quality of images. Since saving as a PDF is actually printing to a file, these suggestions apply.
    1. Turn on Fractional Character widths in Preferences > General > Topic: Text. This is a text setting, but it does improve the print quality of images.
    2. Open the image in Preview or GraphicConverter & Save As... a PICT to use in AppleWorks.
PICT is generally the best format to use for inserting or pasting into AppleWorks. I find the resulting graphic can be resized somewhat & the resulting saved AW file is much smaller than if using JPEG or TIFF.

Our IBM Unix system uses a program called VSIFax (Esker) to create PDF documents such as invoices.  Users that have updated to Acrobat version 11.0.10 can open the PDF but then when trying to save the document the get a message "This document could not be saved.  There was a problem reading this document (21)."  The problem is only occuring with updated version 11.0.10 (11.0.9 works fine).

A "quick" fix that worked for me was to uninstall Adobe... then download the base install for Adobe Reader 11.0.
Then download each of the individual updates and run them sequentially.
I've installed back up to the last security update which is version 08 and have been able to do normal Save As operations.
You will have to disable automatic updates in order to stay at version 08 until Adobe resolves this issue in a later release.

  • Problems saving documents in Pages 5.2.2

At the moment when I attempt to save a new document, the save fails and I get an error message:
I get a similar error if I attempt to export the document as a PDF or to MS Word etc.
This is a relatively recent problem (ie it has appeared sometime in the last few weeks).
I can open, edit and save existing files apparently without problem ... so I have a work around for now ... but any ideas?
I'm running a 2010 21.5" unibody iMac [4GB RAM; 500GB HD] with OSX 10.9.4 and automatic software updates.

It sounds like they are not Pages '09 files, they are files you have saved in Pages 5.2.
You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed 110 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

  • Having a problem opening documents in pdf

Not sure if this is in the right place - this website is very confusing.
I use a screenwriting software called CELTX. I recently had to have a new hard drive installed and subsequently had to re install CELTX onto the new drive. The upshot of that was, all the documents that I had saved to PDF that had been converted uses CELTX now won't open.
I get a message in ADOBE READER that goes:  Adobe reader cannot open 'title' (Celtx) because it is either not a supported file or the file has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email and not properly decoded).
I'm using ADOBE 9.1.3. Previously, Adobe supported my CELTX files with no problems,
I have posted this to the CELTX forum with no joy.
    Thanks for any help

  • Problem saving Reader extended PDF created in Livecycle with Javascript functions built in

    Afternoon
I have created an interactive PDF in Livecycle with built in Javascript functionality.  I need users to be able to complete and save the PDF so have saved it as a Reader extended PDF.  The problem I'm having is that when a user completes the form, saves it, and then opens it again the Javascript functionality is not showing despite showing the original selection that the user has made.  The Javascript is simply a dropdown menu that will show a different table based on the selection so isn't anything major.
I've trawled forums and this is driving me mad so I'd appreciate some help.
I am using Adobe Pro XI.
    Thanks in advance
    Ben

At the moment I can't sorry.  I've run the Javascript debugger in Adobe Pro and it seems there are some errors
Acrobat EScript Built-in Functions Version 11.0

Basically the form has been built in Livecycle Designer and have drop down menus that show or hide tables depending on the selection but when I Reader Enable the form and users make a selection and then save the form it is not showing the table when it is opened again.
    I appreciate your help

  • Problems saving responses in PDF forms

    Hi all -
I have created a few forms for my organization, but I've been getting a lot of feedback about problems with one of the forms.  It's set up just like the other ones (that don't have problems) - 22 drop down menus, 6 text boxes.
Often, when one person saved the form on their computer, they email it to submit, but the responses come through blank on my end... even though the saved version on the original computer has the responses saved.  For others, the form won't save responses at all.  Many times, people submitting this form have had to physically print and scan the form in order to submit it... which defeats the purpose of having the electronic form.
Any ideas on what the problem might be?  Is there anything I could do to fix these problems with saving?  Is it a problem with the others' version of reader?  I don't have any idea how to approach this issue.

Hi, sorry for my vague question, I'll clarify that -
I created the forms in Acrobat 9 Pro.  Mostly, the other people using the form fill it out with Adobe Reader.  They all have different versions, basically.  Whenever I hear about these problems, I've always told the person to update their Adobe Reader to the latest version... that has never seemed to actually help.

  • Have problem saving or viewing PDF attachments in outlook email

I can't open or save attachments that are PDF in outlook email.  I can save other attachments, wich leads me to believe maybe this is related to the ADOBE READER not set right.
Get error message that says, "Can't create file:  PURCHASEORDER.pdf.  Right-click the folder you want to create the file in, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions for the folder."
I am trying to save to desktop.  Have tried other folders too without success.
    Any help would be appriciated.

I don't have a problem opening PDF files attached to e-mail on either my MacBook Pro or my iPad 2.  Are they not showing up as attachments, or are the attachments failing to open?

  • [CS5]Can we prevent from saving document as pdf?

Can anyone suggest me how to prevent someone from saving the doucment as PDF?
I don't see any API regarding this.
Is it doable or not in illustrator CS5?

There's no way to prevent save operations in Illustrator. You can kind of stop 'Save', but as far as I know, nothing prevents you from interfering with any other Save operations (Save As, Save A Copy As) -- and this includes stopping specific formats.

my files are coming up as read only and i cannot save out a pdf. anyone have this problem?

i have two machines that i just upgraded from cs3 standard to cs5. last week i was able to export a pdf from indesign no problem. today my indesign file would not export a pdf (print or interactive) from my imac. i tried to export the same file from my laptop and the file came up as "read only" next to the name. it wouldn't export either. not sure what other info i can provide. thanks.

  • Problems Saving Document Info

Lately my Illustrator CS3 is not saving all of the images linked in the document info. Can anyone help?

Maybe you had the Caps Lock key held down. This embeds images when they're dragged into your file from the Finder or Bridge. Of course if you use the Place command you can control this with the check buttons, but these days most people just drag unless they're replacing a file.
