Problems submitting a book order

It has been virtually impossible to purchase my book created on iPhoto. It takes ages to assemble (seems to hang at last page) and then starts to transfer the book and crashes about 25% of the way through saying 'an error occurred uploading one of your files, try again' and then disconnects me from the internet. I have tried various solutions as requested but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else encountered this? Really frustrating and has taken the shine off trying to organise a Xmas present (I thought it would be easy!!!)

1 - preview your order to be sure it is ok - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040
2 - make sure your internet connection is good
3 - try at different times of the day - there have been several reports of intermittent overloading that caused problems ordering this Christmas season

  • (Someone else with a) Problem submitting a Book order

I have now tried 5 times to submit the same order. Each time I get the following e-mail back:
"Unfortunately, we were unable to process your order because the files received contained data that was unreadable or otherwise unprintable. Your order has been cancelled and your credit card will not be billed.
This was caused by one of the following:
    1. Upload Error. Loss of connection or file corruption during order upload may cause an incomplete order. Resubmitting your order usually resolves this issue.
    2. Low Disk Space. If your computer is running on low disk space, your files may be assembled incorrectly. Create more space by deleting unused files.
    3. Unreadable PDF file or image files. Files are sometimes assembled incorrectly due to CMYK or Grayscale color space. Use the RGB color space for best r esults.
Please make the necessary adjustments and resubmit your order for processing."
In terms of Point 1 no files are corrupted (as far as I know) and my connection is excellent.
    Point 2 - I have 1.75TB of space!
Point 3 - I do not have pdf files in the book. I do shoot in RAW on a Canon 40D. I wouldn't think this makes any difference since iPhoto just uses the jpg files any way. The total file size I am sending is 37MB - if it were the RAW images being sent it would be more like 440MB.
I have looked elsewhere on this forum and followed the advice given as to "Previewing Book". When I do this, no errors appear in the pdf "Preview Book" creates.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm gutted over the amount of time I spent creating the book and was hoping to provide my wife with a really nice present for Christmas!
    Regards

When they mentioned an unreadable PDF file they were referring to the file that iPhoto creates of the book for uploading and printing. Create a PDF by by starting to Print the book locally and select PDF->Save as PDF. This will create the same PDF file that iPhoto creates. See if it will open normally with Preview, etc. It's also a good time to proof the book to make sure there are no typos, all text displays as expected, etc.
Also check to make sure your photos are all RGB mode with the sRGB color profile and no black and white photos with the grayscale color mode.

Just got off the phone with apple support.  If the photo book completes the assembly process but fails during the upload process the problem is in their overloaded servers. They just started a free shipping promotion for the holidays which has increased the traffic dramatically. I bought a calendar a week ago and it went right through. I'm going to try again during less peak times.

  • Iphoto Book ordering problems

After 3 weeks of constant attempts I feel I need to see if anyone out there has a thought on why I receive a return email from my book order "Problems with your order - you have not been charged etc etc"
I have done everything possible from deleting photos, trying EVERY theme, deleting maps, background photos. I have corresponded by email with the Apple help, and I have spent about an hour at the Genius Bar at Apple to see if anyone can solve my problem. Everyone has comeback with "we don't know"
I work with a MacBook Pro Mac OS X 10.6.4, have plenty of memory, all software is up to date.
I am just about to reinitialise my hard disk, install iLife 11 and make the book again, as I can see no other way to try to get this book ordered. Hopefully, oh every so hopefully this will solve my problem.
    Any guru help?

Since yesterday there have been many reports from all over the world of people unable to buy a book or any print products from Apple.
Apple has to fix this on the servers.
See for example this link:  Re: Trying to buy book I created. When I hit "checkout" nothing happens. It's not like Apple to not want to make more m…

  • How to set product Id for event booking order?

We take paid bookings for a number of events through the year. Since the event booking information is identical for every event (only the event details change), we have implemented this by embedding the HTML from a standardised web form into each event's details section.
However, when the event booking is submitted by the customer, Business Catalyst creates a product whose name is constructed as {form name}/{event name} to correspond to this event. This product is referenced in the CRM order for this event that is linked to the customer. This means we get a separate product for each event type.
The problem is that the product code that is assigned to the event booking product is the ID of the web form that was used to process the event (ie. the form embedded in the event detail). Since we use the same web form for multiple events we are now seeing duplicate product codes.
I would like to create a common product for all event bookings and pass this product ID when posting the form on submit of the event booking. The reason for a single booking product is to simplify the synchronisation to our accounting system - otherwise we need to create a new product in the accounting system every time we add a new event.
Is there a query parameter I can include on the form's action URL or as an input field to the form that controls the product ID and / or the product name that will be used for the booking order?
The only other solution I can think of to solve this challenge is to create a unique web form - event combination for every single event. This is not a great solution due to the unnecessary duplication that this will involve - I would rather re-use a common piece of code.
Thanks for any help and advice.

If I'm not mistaken, the 'text range' in PowerPoint does not have 'language id' property whereas the 'text range' in Word does.

  • IPhoto "buy book" order fails at end of upload

I have created a 20 pg hard-covered book in iPhoto which I can preview with no problems and I can create a pdf version of it (34.6MB). However, when attempting to buy the book, I get an error message with CANCEL/RETRY as my options at the very end of the upload process. I have tried the following, but still no success:
    (1) safe boot - iPhoto crashes immediately at "BUY BOOK" selection
    (2) set energy savers to off - dies at end of upload
    (3) duplicated the book and tried to purchase duplicated version - dies at end of upload
    (4) changed the theme of the book and tried to purchase it - dies at end of upload
    (5) created a simple card and purchased it with no problems (so my account is fine) and I cancelled the order thereafter
Each page of the book has 2 portrait photos with minimal text underneath. The largest photo size is 4.6MB. All photos are JPGs. I rebooted my iMac each time before trying (2)-(5) above. I am running version 9.4.3 (720.91) of iPhoto. I have turned off my TimeMachine backup too and have all other applications closed when I attempt to purchase the book. To date, I have never had a problem purchasing books (last one in Dec 2012).
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Sadly, no change after updating v10.8.5(combo). A normal boot with an attempt to "buy book" from iPhoto, gets almost to the end of the upload and then gives me the following error:
In Safe boot, I get to the beginning of the Assembly process and iPhoto crashes. Here is a portion of the problem details:
I compiled my book on Thursday evening, thinking that would be the painstaking part. Purchasing it has become too much of a time consuming adventure! I did call Apple Technical Support last evening and the service agent suggested that I check the Apple Support Community discussions, so thank you for taking a greater interest in my problem.
One other thing I found regarding problems submitting photobook orders is at the bottom of http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2516. An excerpt from this webpage is below, but I can't find the "NetServices" entry in my Keychain Access window to try this fix. Do you think this is a piece to my puzzle or simply old info as it was last modified on May 24, 2012?
Again, I was able to order a photocard (cancelled the order within 90 minute window) as a test, so I don't believe I have an account problem.
    excerpt:
If you are using iPhoto '08 or iPhoto '09 and are unable to submit your order after following the steps above, please follow these steps to reset your Keychain:
    Quit iPhoto.
From the Finder menu bar, choose Go > Utilities to access your Utilities folder (or press Shift-Command-U).
In your Utilities folder, open Keychain Access.
Find the "NetServices" entry in your Keychain Access window.
Select the "NetServices" entry and press the delete key.
Reopen iPhoto and attempt to place your order again.
You should be prompted to enter your account information if you deleted the Keychain entry successfully.
After entering your account information, you should be able to complete your order.
If you are unsuccessful with submitting your order, please contact Apple Technical Support.

  • Accurate OM booked orders report

My objective is to develop a Booked Orders Report in Discoverer and I'm pretty new to Discoverer 10g.
My logic to property display the records is -- for each order in OM that header status is booked, determine if ANY lines are still open by looking at the Open Flag and if any line is still open, display all lines associated with that order.
example: SO# 100 has 4 lines where line 1 is open awaiting shipping (open_flag = 'Yes') and other 3 are closed (open_flag = 'No').
maybe I'm going about this the long way so if you know a cleaner way, please share....
The best logic in discoverer that I can come up with (based on the various line status fields) is that I can build a new calculation called l_open_flag that is setup as CASE WHEN "Order Lines".Open Flag = 'Yes' THEN '1' ELSE '0' and when I run the discoverer report, the l_open_flag is working and returning 1 or 0 as expected for each line.
The next step is to setup a second calculation to sum the l_open_flag called sum_l_open_flag and add a second non-display parameter to display any order where header level status is 'booked' and the sum_l_open_flag > 0.
the problem is that when I try to sum l_open_flag discoverer throws up a warning that I'm combining detail data point and an aggregated data point -- which I agree.
After adding the new condition to include orders where sum_l_open_flag > 0, I still only get just the one line item out of the 4 lines on the order that is still open.
Hope this is clear like oracle and thanks,
    Rob

    Hi rob,
From your example i understood is if open_flag=Yes it is open and when No then it is closed.Your going in the right path by taking the case as you mentioned.
But why are you taking the second condition sum(l_open_flag).definately it will throw warning. Why do you need this condition? Can you be clearer
I sugest you take a second calculation as calculation2=l_open_flag>0,this suggests that when you are giving zero(0) it says that you want all closed sales orders.
Anything more can you give more explanation.
    Best Wishes,
    Kranthi.

  • Tax Code changed after booking order..

    Hi,
We faced an issue that the tax code is changed to be the default value of the bill-to site after booking.
For example, The tax code of customer A bill-to is VAT0 (means tax=0%).
While creating a new order, 'VAT0' is auto carried out as the defaulting tax code.
We maintain tax code to be VAT5 (means tax=5%) and save the change. It work fine and correctly before booking, order total is included 5% tax.
But after booking, the tax code is auto-changed to be VAT0, and there is no tax in the order.
    What is the problem??
Should we maintain tax code after booking???
Or some setting should be checked to prevent the issue??
    Thanks in advance,
    best regards,
    Zhxiang

    Hi,
Here, we have tax method, in AR system options, set to Latin Tax Method, and Tax Code does not get default again after booking. If it is changed from VAT0 to VAT5, it remains VAT5 after booking.
I changed Tax Method to VAT, in a test database, and the tax code is not changed back to the default value after booking.
In the order type, tax event is set to entering, and we are using the original Defaulting Rules for tax code field.

  • Iphoto6-an error occurred while updating one of your files (book order)

when trying to order a book the book is assembled but then i get the above error message. it also says please check your network connections and click retry to resend your file. driving me nuts. network connection is fine.
i have successfully ordered a book before. i have checked file permissions, checked files in book by previewing printing it myself. all files are ample size for printing.
i have recently signed up to .mac and that isn't working either, disk login problem. Related??
has anyone else found out how to resolve the book problem?
    Will

Like others I have been unable to submit books or calendars for printing to Apple. I get the same error messages that others have received. I use CitiCard virtual credit cards account numbers. I noticed that the funds remaining available for the virtual number I used to try to order the Apple books and calendars has decreased. I tried so many times that CitiCards froze the virtual numbers. I actually tried two different virtual numbers before I realized that Apple was trying to charge each time the transaction failed. So far there appear to be no actual charges to my credit card, but I will be keeping careful look at my account for the next few days.
I am not going to attempt to order Apple books and calendars until posters indicate that the server problem has been resolved. My wife is very disappointed as these books and calendars were to be Christmas presents. We have ordered several books in the past and never had any problems. We may order the book elsewhere but are not aware of other sources for calendars.

  • Book Order will not Connect!

Created a book and all went just fine.
Now trying to purchase. The book assembly seems to go just fine... then when it is trying to connect... it just keeps going, never connecting.
    What could be the problem?
My internet is working just fine!
    Thanks for your imput.
    Tim

I submitted the same book twice. The first time (at 150 dpi) it went through fine the first time (with one exception I'll get to below). The second time, after changing the prefs to 300 dpi, I had the same problem you did. I submitted it probably 8 times before it went through. I wonder if this may be related to file size?
I did try deleting the NetAccess keychain but it still failed several more times before the final success, so I'm not sure whether or not that helped. By the way, I should mention that if you try this, read the directions more carefully than I did and use the delete key (or Delete command in the Edit menu) to delete only the selected login. There is a Delete command in the File menu (Delete keychain "login") that will delete the entire keychain and every autofill login you have ever stored!!
When you say it won't connect, is it hanging at the "Connecting" popup or the "Sending file" progress bar that follows? Each time I submitted a book, or tried to, the "Connecting" bar showed the moving blue stripes, but the "Sending file" progress bar stayed gray and never moved at all. The text said "Sending 0 KB of 95.8 MB" and never changed. It looked as if the entire process was frozen. However, checking with Activity Monitor (it's in the Utilities folder) showed that the computer was merrily pumping the file out. I actually cancelled the upload a few times because I thought that it was stalled before I thought to check with Activity Monitor.

  • My book order gets stuck with the message 'your book order is not complete'

    hi,
while trying to place my first order for a book, I get the message above, with the message that the book order is still being sent to the publisher.
during the book submission, I went through what appeared to be a re-registration (although, using the same details, the right information seemed to be picked up in later stages of the process.)
I am using Aperture 3 on Lion (10.7.1)
oddly, I can't get into my 'order status' part of the Account part of the Apple store either.
i'm not sure if something is incomplete, or what!
anyone have any ideas, or has experienced this in the past?
    regards,
    Nick

It seems that closing the application gives you the opportunity to cancel an 'in progress' book submission - the only way that I have come across.
Going in again and re-submitting has *thus far* done what is expected - I am now waiting for my confirmation email.
The address change screens are a bit of a mess, but that should not really make a huge difference if you are not having to change addresses - tabbing around the fields makes some sense of it. (apple, you may well want to fix this - contact me if screen shots would help)

  • HT1040 I have previously submitted a book for printing three different times and Apple has told me it's been unreadable. I have previously previewed it before sending and it was perfect. I have followed all other directions. Help.

I have previously submitted a book for printing three different times and Apple has told me each time it's unreadable. I have previously previewed it each time before sending and it was perfect. I have followed all other directions - updated software, all other applications off etc. What am I doing wrong?

Boot into Safemode and Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

  • Placing book order-iPhoto quit unexpectedly

I have been trying to order an 88 page large spiral photo book. Each time I try, it assembles all 88 photos then iPhoto quits and I get the -unexpectedly quit-message. I have relaunched, reset and relaunched but it still will not process the order. I placed an order for prints with no problem. Why can't I get my book ordered?

It isn't the size of the book. My friend recently uploaded a 100 page book without a problem.
    A few more ideas:
Is iPhoto up to date? Run software update.
Check the photos in the book make sure there aren't any error symbols showing up. They might look like yellow yield signs.
Call Applecare and see if they have any ideas or even an Apple Store.
    These two stink, but:
Rebuild the book from a new book. Maybe there is an error from within the book.
Rebuild the book using Kodak's service. I don't know if the kodak gallery software allows you to build and upload within the program or if it has to be online. There is a plug-in for iPhoto that allows you to upload photos to your Kodak account from within iPhoto, so that helps a little.

  • Why can't  my book order be processed?

I have tried (unsuccessfully) over the last 6 days to order a photo book. There is no problem to assemble book but the the message "your order cannot be processed at this time . Please try later"
keeps appearing . I have tried at four different locations but with no luck . I have successfully purchased many books in the past . This book is 98 pages and was created using auto flow. Any suggestions gratefuly received!

    Hi,
That problem came up last December (2010 ). The way it was resolved was to set-up a new account. That's what I did and got my order through. Good luck.

  • Problem - buying a book (Foto) over Aperture

since 2 weeks i try to order a fotobook from my private fotos over aperture- Program. I have had always the same problem. The book is ready. I order the book. The program is running. The program try´s to send the information. Then there is a news in german "Beim Laden einer ihrer Dateien ist ein Fehler aufgetreten" In english "With the store of one of her files a mistake has appeared".
I talked to the apple support. After 30 minutes diskussion. they said, that i have to build a new book und try again.
I have done that. But the same Mistake comes again.
    Any help out there?

See if you can create  pdf file of the book as described in this Apple document: iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it. If you can't then try repairing the library as follows: make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
