  • Problems installing FP v4.1 with LabVIEW v6.1 application

    We have a LabVIEW v6.1 application that interfaces to a FieldPoint FP-1000 Network Module for its I/O. We have been distributing it to customers for about 18 months with the FieldPoint v4.0.1 driver - no problems other than some difficulty getting the Watchdog Timer setup properly via MAX.
    The latest purchase of FieldPoint hardware came with FieldPoint v4.1 driver. There are three issues that have arisen with the advent of FP v4.1.
    1.) There occurs several (identical) warning messages during the FP v4.1 installation on Windows XP SP2 (the exact number depends on the selection of features to install). The message is "Error 1931" and it says that Windows stopped the installer from updating the stdole2.tlb file. It suggests that we update the OS, which has been done, but the messages continue.
    Question: is it critical that the stdole2.tlb in the FP v4.1 distribution be installed, or is this an error with no consequences?
    2.) When installing FP v4.1, we select LabVIEW v6.1 support, but disable the Real-Time v6.1 Support and the Examples. We also disable the LabVIEW v7.0 and v7.1 Support and the LabWindows/CVI Support. We keep the Documentation and MAX features. We have gone through the install/uninstall cycle several times and each time when uninstalling the list of features includes LabVIEW v7.0 Support - not v6.1.
    Question: does this indicate that the installer is erroneously installing v7.0 support and omitting the selected v6.1 Support? Or is this just an error in what is displayed by the uninstaller?
    3.) After FP v4.1 is installed (with LabVIEW v6.1 Support selected) our LabVIEW v6.1 application runs but fails to communicate with the FP-1000 Network Module. Upon quiting the application, there is an error message stating that the FP.Open.vi failed to run because the FieldPoint Server .dll was not found (no filename for the server- just ".dll").
    Question: Is this an issue of the installer not putting the proper FP Server .dll file on the computer (see question 2) or is this a matter of compatibility (do I need to install FP v4.1 on the development computer and remake my application)? Something is wrong here, FP v4.1 doesn't support a LabVIEW v6.1 application that runs fine under FP v4.0.1. Do I need to install the LabVIEW v7.x Support in addition to the v6.1 Support?

    Hi lkj,
    There has been few reported problem with installing FP4.1 in LabView 6.1, but none of them are similar to what you are experiencing. According to the 4.1 driver documentation certain vis from this driver version cannot be installed and used in LabView 6.1. What I would suggest is to uninstall the current driver and revert back to the ver. 4.0.1 since we know for sure it works in the LabView 6.1 environment. If you you'd like to use the 4.1 driver, then if would suggest upgrading to LabView 7.0 or 7.1.

    You need to apply some patches to get it to compile with newer kernels. I'd suggest using the PKGBUILD in AUR.

  • Problem when building an executable with labview 6.1

    I use LabView 6.1 and I want to build up an executable. I use the labview application builder to do this. I have already built up executables and I had no problems but this time I just obtain a labview vi library which is called "internal.llb" each time I try to compile my vi's. Do you have an idea to solve my problem please ?

    Make sure that you have "Single target file containing all VIs" selected
    under Build Option in the Target Tab of the App builder. Sounds like you
    have "Small target file with external file for subVIs" selected with the
    target being a llb.

  • Problems reading the serial port with labview 5.1.

    I open the example serial.vi , I select write to serial port, run the programm, I don`t have any problem. But when I select read serial port, I get the error code 16392and hex code error x4008. I need to know what can I do? Thanks a lot

    Any time you get an error in LV you can right click on the error cluster indicator and do a "Explain Error".
    If you do this for the error code you reported, the explanation says that it was a framing error.
    In serial communications, a framing error indicates that the hardware was not able to detect a start bit, data then the stop bits that comprise a frame.
    This prompts me to suggest that you check you port setting on the serial port. You want to make sure you are setting the port for the correct;
    Number of start/stop bits,
    Baud rate
    data bits
    parity (just for good measure)
    and hardware handshaking.
    I hope this helps,

  • Connecting Bluetooth accelerometer to labview

    Hello all, I am a graduate student developing a prosthetic leg for the VA and getting LabView to work with my device is the last thing I need to do to get my prosthetic leg to work.  I will freely admit that I am a complete beginner with LabView and I know the problem is my lack of knowledge and not LabView itself.  I was hoping that you all could enlighten me.
    So the basic problem is this: I am using a wireless accelerometer called a "WiTilt V3" developed by "SparkFun Electronics" and I cannot get LabView to connect with the device.  All I want LabView to do is graph the data transmitted by the accelerometer.  The accerometer typically uses a terminal program such as "HyperTerminal" or "Tera Term" and outputs the data in one line of code per data point.  An example of how the data look is this:
    Y=1.746
    Y=1.666
    Y=1.603
    Y=1.539
    Y=1.460
    Y=1.380
    Y=1.333
    Y=1.253
    Y=1.142
    Y=1.063
    Y=0.968
    So basically what I am trying to do is either have LabView take the place of the terminal program or have LabView call the data gathered by the terminal program in near real time (a delay of up to 0.5 seconds is acceptable.)  The accelerometer is connected to COM port 5 on my computer and the address is 00:06:66:01:99:aa.  Let me know if you need any other information.  Thanks.

    What do I need to install to use Mobile Module with Labview 2009?
    I have installed Labview 2009 but I don't see the PDA icon on the main page.

    I have seen this link, but it doesn't say what I need to check when installing Labview 2009 SP1 in order to get the Mobile Module.
    I work at The University of Twente and we have a full license, so I'm sure it has to be at the install checkbox somewhere...

  • Problem in soademo registering FulfillmentESB with ESB Server

    Hi,all
    I am a beginner in soa suite. Now I am stuck in a problem about registering FulfillmentESB module with ESB Server in soademo. The ESB registeration summary dialog display this error message:
    Entity Deployment Failed
    error code: 1003 : 5
    summary: Failed to create System "Fullfillment"
    Fix: Ensure that the (a) Repository is available. (b) The Connection information for the Repository is Valid. Also verify the detailed cause of error if available. Contact Oracle Support if error not fixable.
    Then I try to enter the ESB Control from the SOA page. After logon, I can't see anything in the ESB Control. It seems like the ESB IS is not connecting to the backend DB. But How can I solve this problem?
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Dear Martin,
    First of all I should thank for your attention. In order to save time, I should say that another thread is started regarding this problem, so to have a better focus I am inserting messages that may give some clues here too.
    1. Regarding service OLITE, I should say that there is no service with this name. I think it is because I have used recommendations of soademo and used oracleXE database. If I'm right.
    2.I am using DHCP, and all of the things are installed on my laptop, and there would be no need to other network resources.
    3.In hosts file there is only one line :
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    4.Windows firewall has been activated but some exceptions have been available.
    The exact messages in log files are followed:

  • Dv2000 bluetooth module problems..

    Hey all..  This is going to be a long post - Sorry in advance, but best to get as much info in as possible..
    Hey all - I'm at wits end and need some advice/support
    I have a laptop - an HP DV2000 (2413cl specifically) that I rebuilt from scraps. I got Fedra 15 (F15)set up on it, then a couple days later my internal bluetooth module arrived so I added it (it is the interal bluetooth module). When I fired up the laptop, the bluetooth icon appeared (wasn't there before, inficating the system saw and knew there was bluetooth now) in the upper left next to the wifi/network status and I thought all was well. It wasn't - The radio said it was on, but the actual system config ui (bluetoth settings) said there were no bluetooth adapters present (paraphrasing). So I hit the forums, and read many people claiming they had the same problem, and the solution was to install windows so you can install the HP software which includes a firmware update. This was good, though I wasn't thrilled about using my only backup drive as a temp windows hdd, because I also had an old BIOS on this laptop, and wanted to update it as well.
    After hours of waiting, windows was up and running. (the hours include downloading and installing most of the hp drivers and the nvidia drivers). The hp listed bluetooth driver had couldn't find a device, but allowed it to install anyway - I thought, okay, perhaps after the driver install it'll be able to detect it. Then the BIOS update, reboot and still no mention of bluetooth in windows. I then proceeded to install windows' 480MB of updates, thinking something in there probably was needed to fix a bug or something.. You know.. 2/3 of the way through, windows update crapped out on me locked up. Rebooting lest me in a system-locking state (blue screen) and last known configuration just hangs.. Ticked off, I slapped the fedora drive back in. Now, the only thing that has changed as far Fedora is concerned is the BIOS version, and somehow now I don't even have the bluetooth icon that appeared after the bluetooth module was plugged in (powered off of course, rofl). This obviously is a setback. I mean, F15 may have told me there were no bluetooth adapters/devices present, but it KNEW there was one, because the icon appeared. And the icon was NOT there before the module was installed.
    What can I do about this? Is there a way to manually probe hardware or make it try and redetect? Any insight on why a bios update would make Fedora not see the module now? What can I do, rofl
    EDIT:  This is a repost from the Fedora forums, where I am seeking help as well.  Before the floods start coming, I know Linux/non Windows systems are not supported, and that isn't an issue as I have the same problem in Vista as well.  So no, Fedora is not the problem, im fact, as I noted - before the bios update (to F.37 or 39 whichever it was that is available) at least Fedora knew there was bluetooth - Vista never saw it, not before nor after the bios update!   I'll assume all suggestions / ideas will be for Windows also..  If I can recover my vista, I'll post the exact download file names, but HP's support pointed right to all the files via exact model number, which is dv2413cl.  Vista 64 bit.  Thanks in advance for any suport, suggestions and help

  • Problems getting started with LabVIEW FPGA

    Two (probably) related questions:
    1. I am trying to get started with LabVIEW FPGA, and I am having trouble using a host VI to test my FPGA VI. I started with a basic QAM modulator VI, to be run on the FPGA, and I have reached the point where I need to verify the logic and timing with this VI running on the development computer with simulated IO. I have tried various combinations of putting the code inside single-cycle timed loops vs not; putting the modulator block directly into the host VI, and using the "FPGA reference" block. When neither the host VI nor the modulator VI use a single-cycle timed loop, I see correct behavior. In every other case, the output of the VI is either absent or incorrect. I need to use a single-cycle timed loop in the FPGA VI to properly verify timing behavior (as far as I know), so the one functioning case is not enough for me.
    I'm sure there is a key step I'm missing or misunderstanding, but I have not been able to figure it out myself yet. I've attached my modulator diagram as well as two different attempts at host VIs. I can share other information, but I'm not sure what is most relevant.
    2. I am also trying to test a simple wrapper VI for the Xilinx FFT block, and I am having trouble accessing FIFOs inside the host VI. I thought this would be relatively straightforward, but when I tried to change the "method" on an "invoke method" block, there were no options for accessing FIFOs, as I understood there should be. This is a total roadblock for me. These two diagrams are also attached, the test diagram shows the options available to me for the "invoke method" block.
    Labview 2013, PXIe-7965R, PXIe-8133 controller.
    I had to combine the diagram images; in case they are hard to follow this way, see the individual images here: http://imgur.com/a/oB6OD .
    Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    Hello Monguin61
    If you are having problems reading from DMA FIFO's you should test them using a very simple code to understand their behavior. First, you could start taking a look to the linked documents:
    Reading DMA FIFOs from Host VIs (FPGA Interface)
    Using DMA FIFO to Develop High-Speed Data Acquisition Applications for Reconfigurable I/O Devices
    FIFO.Read (Invoke Method)
    Then you could test and analyze a simple example to understand how it works, for example this one: Simple DMA FIFO Example for FPGA.
    Check the references when you are using DMA FIFO's, I noticed you did not connect them in the second picture attached.

  • Where can I found hardware to get analog signal from VCR and work with labview and then sample this signal in very high frequency?

    I am trying to build a Digital Video Recorder using Labview. The problem is that I found that Labview sample the signal in the order of milisecond. I wanted it to be in the order of microseconds. Also I am looking for a cheap Hardware solution if it is possible

    Your question does not make a lot of sense to me, so I will just point out a few things.
    1. The PCI-1411 works well with VCR signals. It has a BNC connector as well as a S-Video connector. The price is under $1000, so it is fairly reasonable. The amount of time you save getting it to work with LabVIEW is worth any extra cost.
    2. The PCI-1411 is sampling three colors at 30 frames per second, with an image resolution of 640x480. This is the best resolution you are likely to get from a VCR signal. The sampling rate for each byte in the image is about 28 MB/sec. This is in the microsecond range that you are looking for, I think. If you are only interested in the raw signal instead of the image, you could look at the high speed digitizing boards NI sell
    s that acquire at higher rates.
    If this information isn't really what you were looking for, perhaps you could clarify your question.

  • Fglrx module conflicts with labview 8.2

    Hi, i need your help.
    My graphic card is ATI x1300, and i am using slackware 12.1. This distribution used mesa for graphic driving by default and worked well with labview 8.2.
    After i disable the Direct Rendering Manager of linux kernel config and recomiled the kernel(2.6.21.5) and installed ATI officail driver successfully, reboot, labview got the "segmentation fault" error. I confirmed that fglrx module loaded with nothing error.
    Then i remove fglrx module and use Mesa instead, reboot, labview works fine.
    Any idea to deal with this problem? Or is this a known bug? I want to use fglrx for graphic driving.
    Thank you!

    Two suggestions
    Double check and make sure you have the Professional Development
    version of Labview. Do this by starting Labview ant then clicking on
    "Help" and "About Labview" The "About Screen" will tell you what
    version of Labview you have installed on your computer. If the "About
    Screen" says you have the Professional Development version of Labview
    installed on your computer and you don't see "Application Builder" in
    the "Tools" menu then I suggest you talk to your local National
    Instruments Sales Representative to get help.
