Problems Typing into Text Items

I HAVE PROBLEMS WHEN I'M TYPING STRINGS INTO TEXT ITEMS, IT IS WHEN TYPING SPACE BAR BETWEEN THE WORDS THE CURSOR MOVES FROM THE BEGINNIG OF THE TEXT. I SET THE PROPERTY KEEP CURSOR TO "YES" AND THE CURSOR MOVES FROM THE LAST OF THE TEXT, IGNORING THE SPACE BAR.
IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN I'M WORKING WITH DATETIME ITEMS.
ANYONE CAN TELL ME HOW TO SOLVE IT ?.

If u r using Oracle Developer 6 then you need to apply the patches . The latest patch is Patch6a.
These patches will fix the bugs u have reported plus many more in Forms 6.

You can always create your own difference function based on your own criteria. You can modify this to suit your needs.

Problem with multiline text item return on query

Hi there, I am a beginner in ORACLE, here when i write a query i engaged a weird problem,

:Order_Record is a detailed-form with multiline text items,while execute this cursor, it always rewrite the 1st line and wont go to 2nd line, I wanna get some help about how to display different records in different line in a text item.
btw, i tried next_record,next_item,next_field, but none of them works, the query is based on the record i filled on the master form, and show related record in detailed-form

Insert hyperlink into Text Item

I'm looking to create a footer text item for all reports that has a link that will launch an email to the BI team. I was able to find some javascript that I can use to launch Outlook but I can only get it to work with a button item or link item. I can't seem to figure out how to insert it into a Text Item.
What I want is:
"If you have any question please contact BI Team"
where BI Team is the link.

for example: you want to open the link on clicking on "BI Team" so write a code in WAD like this

Read a barcode(including line feeds) into text item

When I scan a bar code from a text item, I am unable to retrieve line feeds that are in a barcode. I need line feeds to retrieve various values encoded in the barcode. When I scan the same code on a notepad, I get output in multi-lines. But, oracle forms is removing the line feeds when I scan barcode in a text item. Please advice. Forms Version is 10g

It gave me output of 10.
Original string looks like this with control charactes <LF> and <CR>.

I have to get hold of <LF> character because it is used as delimiter for data values in barcode. But, when I scan it in oracle forms item, it is not reading <LF> character. Based on what you suggested, using dump and ascii, it ilooks like it is reading carriage return <CR> as CHR(10) and not <LF>. There is one more <LF> in the string and forms text item is not recognizing it. Dump output is shown below:

Problem with comparing text item with hidden item

Hi all,
I have two items, one text field which has a user name and other item which is hidden which also has a username input from a file.
I want to compare these two items.
But when both items are text fileds am able to compare, but when one is made hidden unable to compare.
Please help on this......

Hi Srini,
As long as you understand that the user can change the value of ANY field, even it is hidden, then I would suggest something like:
1 - Hide your existing Login button. On the button definition, in "Button Display Attributes" add the following into the Attributes setting:
style="display:none"2 - In the Login region's Region Footer, create a new button:
<input type="button" class="t12Button" value="Login" onclick="javascript:checkNames();">(Note that I have used a class name of "t12Button" - change this to match your current theme)
3 - Underneath that, add in your javascript:

Dear friends,
I want to insert values in the Text item using pushbutton e.g to insert 05CST884 into text item using pushbuttons '0' '5' 'C' 'S' 'T' '8' '8' '4' (alpha numeric buttons) in the layout editor and then fetch data based on the number entered with that of one in the table in the another text item2 in the layout editor.
Suggestions regarding how to develop and use effective triggers are welcome.

At the block level (for the control block where all your push buttons are, let's call it block1) create a WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger. Your [A-Z] and [0-9] buttons should be on a dedicated non-database datablock to reduce problems. As stated previously, this trigger should just contain the code:

Also on the pushbutton block, create a backspacve button with its own dedicated WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger containing:

This will hopefully erase the last character entered.
block2 should be based on the database table (see Property Palette --> Database) you wish to query and text_item should be based on the database item which contains the code you entered. All the other database items you wish to displayshould also be added to block2.
Add another FIND push button to block1 with the code:

execute_query;
Without writing the whole thing for you, I'd suggest you get a decent Forms tutorial book to guide you through the basics (Oracle Forms Developers Handbook).

10g Text Item Editor Not Working Correctly

We're having problems with the Text Item Editor in both Add and Edit modes, but esp. in Edit mode. The problems range from getting a gray text screen (no toolbar); getting a white editor screen (no toolbar); tools that do not load (e.g. font color); and tools that do not work even though everything else seems fine. Sometimes refreshing the screen works but not always. Our users are getting very frustrated continually refreshing and logging out/in. It's become worse in the past few weeks such that it occurs in nearly every instance when editing a text item.
Can anyone point us in a possilbe direction? We are using IE 6.0 and above as the browser.

How to delete text item in delivery

I am facing one problem in deleting text item from the delivery. In one case our store person have inserted taxt item by mistake in delivery. In the delivery there are two schedule lines one is of Tan and another is of tatx (which is by mistake inserted by him) he prepaired bill for the delivery and System split the delivery in two invoices, later on he cancelled the invoice of Text item Which value is 0. But now the delivery is showing pending in VF04 though we have invoice the 1st schedile line. After this I tried to delete the text itm by going to vl02n but system is not alowing me to delete the schedule line. error is document can not deleted. where as system is also not allowing thtough t-code vl09n after cancelling the invoice.
I need experts help to solve this problem. I wan to cleare the delivery from t-code VF04.

here the delivery is only one and system have created two invoices. I have cancell the invoice of 0 value by using t-code VF11, after this I tried for vl09 to reverse the goods movement but system is not allowing me becouse for the same delivery we have created two invoices and one is cancell.
so dear friend tell me is it possible for me to reverse the one schedule line from the delivery by using vl09n.

Text item validation into Formular.

From some days I have written my fiirst application using Oracle Forms6i.
In oracle9i I created table USER with column id_user number(5), username varchar2(10) and passwd varchar2(12).
In oracle forms builder I created the formular with 4 controls(2 fields - username and passwd ,one button to login user and Text item to the botton of this formular to print message for user). In ProperPalette for Text item 'username' and 'passwd' I set adequately Maximum Lenght peperty to 10 and 12(for 'passwd' field) and Required to Yes.
Then I wanted to make a validation username and passwd fields in this way, that the user can put in 'username' field the string with length between 8 to 10 and for 'passwd' between 8 to 12 and checking all other cases incorrect data entering by login user.
I created trigger WHEN-MOUSE-CLICK for button with this body:

Regarding to your post and your problem , obviously the code doesn't go into the
IF condition and validate it becouse the syntax is not appropriate and every time it goes to the IF it jumps into the exception part. Thats why you have to correct your code as fllowing.
if (:user_data_log.username IS NULL) and (:user_data_log.passwd IS NULL) then
etc till the end of the code.

Problems with IE and text item

Hi,
I have a problem with IE (v6.0) when I add an text item to a region. IE puts 2 records with the same content into the DB (table wwv_text), Mozilla only 1.
The Problem is, if I change the text of the item with IE, Mozilla, doesn't show the changes made, due to the fact, IE only changes one of the two records and Mozilla reads exactly the other one.
But if I add a text item with Mozilla, only one record is stored in the DB.
Is this a portal or IE bug?
PS: I have disabled version control on the entire page group.

is it possible that you add an item in a different language if you are using internet explorer. in this case 2 records are created. one for the base language and one for the translation. this also explains that you do not see the edited version of the item in the other browser - in case you are using a different language.

Problem in copying a text item content in forms 10.1.2 to other application

Hi all,
I have just upgraded my Form server 6i in Windows 2003 to to Application server 10.1.2 in Linux.
In previos version Application Users Used to Copy some texts from other Applications like Windows NotePad or Client/server Version of Application to webforms text items or vice versa.
In Application 10g it doesnt work. whithin the webforms we can copy and past content of texts but within Applications It doesnt wirk at all.
we are running Forms 10.1.2 on Windows XP, using windows IE as the browser.
Does Forms 10.1.2 use its Own clipboard?
does anybody know any workaround to solve the problem?

Thanks for your attention,
I Think it's not the certification mater, because in development environment I have Stand alone OC4j installed in Windows Xp witch uses the same version of Jinitiator and copy/paste functionality works fine.
Surprisingly when I connect to application server 10.1.2 witch is installed in Enterprise Linux from the same PC the functionality does not work.
I cheked windows clipbord before and after running the form application from and noticed that copy/paste mechanism of form doesnt effect windows clipbord ant it somehow uses a private clipboard within itself.
Any solution would highly be appreciated.

Problem with data saving into text file

Hi,
The problem I am facing wihile saving the data into text file is that everytime when I am slecting the path from front panel, the data which is being saved is appended with the previous data, i.e. not only in the new text file, the new set of data is saved but also, if there is any previuos run for the program, the corresponding data is also present in that text file.
However, when I change the same 'control'(file path) to 'constant' in the block diagram, and add the file path, there is no such problem. Basically, changing the "File path" from constant in the block diagram to control (so that it is displayed in the front panel) is causing the problem.
Please help!

Your shift register on the For loop is not initialized. It will retain the value of the string from the last time it executed. Initialize that and it should solve your problem.

Problems while uploading text documents into Unicode Database

I just upgraded our database from 9iR1 to 9iR2 (9.2.0.1.0). The server
character set is AL32UTF8. Now I'm facing a problem when
uploading text documents into the database via a web frontend.
I use the upload table defined for the PL/SQL Database Access Descriptor:

What is this? I studied the documentation, but didn't found a solution.
When trying to use Oracle's built-in procedure wpg_docload.download_file,
the content is shown the way it should be. Unfortunately, I can't use
wpg_docload.download_file in order to copy the BLOB content to another table.

Hi Roman,
the upload uses a BLOB (Binary Lob). Your Document is
stored as is in the binary representation. If you
use dbms_lob.read on a blob and your buffer is a varchar2 the binary representation is not translated!!!
use a raw for the buffer and utl_raw.cast_to_varchar2
to do the conversion to varchar.
