Problems when I changed from POP3 to IMAP in Mail

When using POP3 protocol on my Mac I was able to have a sound played to let me know when new mail came in. Since I switched to IMAP protocol, I can't seem to make that happen.
I am running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and using the Mail program for our email. I also have an iPhone and an iPad and saw that using the POP3 protocol, when I read/delete my mail on one of the devices I have to repeat the same actions on all of the devices to keep them in sync. I was advised that using the IMAP protocol on all of the devices would keep the mail in sync on all of them, so I switched. That's when the sound stopped playing for newly received email.
I tried defining a rule that says play sound when specific conditions are met, but it is working counterintuitively (i.e. when I am sending a message but not when a new one comes in.)
Clearly, I am missing something. Is there a setting somewhere that allows me to have a sound played whenever a new piece of mail comes in? Looking for the support of the community on this one. Thanks in advance.

You need to make sure you have the correct settings in the mail servers: incoming and outgoing. Make sure they are imap server settings and not POP servers. You will have to check them on all devices. If it's POP on the other devices, it will not sync with IMAP.

Converting from Pop3 to Imap in Mail

When I got my MBP, I did not have access to IMAP email and set it up via pop3. Now I have an iPhone, iPad and my email is available via IMAP. I would like to change to IMAP and have the same look from any device.
However, I also use Contactizer (CRM type app) that links all my emails from addresses in the database. These are, in Mail, all saved "ON MY MAC".
It appears I need to delete the Pop3 and rebuild the email with IMAP. Is there any other way?
If I do that, how do I save all the sent emails and all those in the folders I have built? I can not afford to lose any emails.
Any suggestions?

Create folders in your "On My Mac" mailbox (use the Mailbox - New Mailbox menu, and choose "On MY Mac" as the location) and move all the mail you want to save into there - you can create as many folders as you need. Don't forget any mail in Inbox and Sent. Then delete the POP account and recreate it as IMAP. You can then move your On My Mac folders into your IMAP server folder.

I have to change hosts for my domain and primary e-mail address, and as long as I need to recreate my account, I’d like to change it from POP3 to IMAP. How would I change the account settings in Mail so that all my previous e-mails aren’t deleted when I change protocols? Thanks.

As I don't know whether what you want to do is possible or not, I would rather create a new account with the new settings and copy the emails from the old one to the new one (I think this will keep email dates correct). Then, after verifying that the new one works OK, I would delete the old one.

Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

After accepting an update this morning from Mozilla, I now get a second icon on my bottom toolbar when I change from either news to gmail or from gmail to news. I tried restarting my computer but it still does it.

I checked the home page assignment in preferences and found that the errant site had been appended to the normal (google) home page address. Incidentally, I had basically solve the problem within a session by erasing all history related to bbc. Without your fix I would been back to the same error next time I started Firefox from scratch. Instructions for converting from POP3 to IMAP in Outlook 2010

I have been using Outlook a POP3 Google Apps (Gmail) account for a long time. I have never used IMAP but am intrigued by the synchronization that accompanies IMAP. Since I often use my email from the Gmail web app away from my Outlook installation,
IMAP seems like the way to go. So I would like to convert my existing POP3 account to an IMAP account.
1- Can you point me to step-by-step instructions on how to do this?
2 - Will all my PST folders and email automatically sync to the Gmail servers?
3 - what problems can I expect to encounter and how do I avoid them?

No, you cannot "convert" an account from POP3 to IMAP.
You'll need to remove the current POP3 account (this will not delete any data) and then add the IMAP account. This will create an additional folder set which is required for the synching of the IMAP account (it will mimic the folder structure of the
IMAP account).
If there are messages in your local folder which are not on the IMAP server, you can move them manually to a folder in the IMAP account.
Before you start to reorganize your data, it is recommended that you start with a good backup of your Outlook data so that you can easily restore it in case something goes wrong. For instructions see;

in a EVDRE we always get the error "encountered problem when retrieving data from webserver"
When analysing this further we noticed this is always generated when a base member is selected in the CV and the expansion on the row for this dimension is has one of the following expansion settings:
DEP
ALL
NOEXPAND
if we select SELF, the error disappears again and the EVDRE works fine again ... is this normal behavior?

Note that the keyword "ALL" does not include the member itself. This may cause some confusion, but as Harish implies, when you select a base member it finds no matches if your memberset is "ALL".
If you want to design a report to handle the user moving back and forth between base and non-base members in their CV, you either need to include SELF,ALL or SELF,DEP, or something similar....
OR you need to get a little fancier, and use EVPRO to look and see if the CV member is base -- evpro(app,member,"CALC") -- and then use some conditional logic in Excel to choose the correct expansion options. If Calc=N, use Self, otherwise use SELF,DEP or whatever you choose. This can be a bit tricky if you then want the user to be able to drill down in the report (especially if you want the workbook option to insert add'l rows on the expansion, rather than replace), but it's all possible.

It's a built-in app, so it can't be deleted nor downloaded from the store. If you can't find it on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find it via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then is it hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > Camera being set 'off' ?
If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find it after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

That's because the BBC iPlayer app uses basic AirPlay to show the content, this means the original content is sent to the Apple TV for it to decode rather than mirroring the screen of the iPad where the subtitles are added.

I suspect that the problem is in your router. Do NOT consider your router to be blameless if some other devices seem to work with it.
Try restarting your WiFi router by removing power for 30 seconds. Don't just turn it Off. On many routers that doesn't really do anything but put the router into standby mode. If that does not help check for a firmware update for your router. If none exists which corrects the problem consider replacing the router.
There is a chance that some services turned on in your router could be causing problems. Look for a setting called QoS (Quality of Service). If ON turn it OFF.
If you need more help please give the make, model, and version of your WiFi router and how you have it configured.

Oracle Report Font problem when run report from oracle EBS R12

Dear All
I have developed one Report in ORACLE REPORT BUILDER in windows environment. I see the output of that report, its ok, I deployed it on the EBS R12 which is on Linux environment, when i see the output, its fonts totally change and due to change in fonts, output not same as like in previous stage. When i print from dot matrix Printer then sometime its shrink the character and sometime break the output..
Kindly help me in this regard, because this problem i am facing from last few days.

I have changed the fonts in the report, but when i run it from the EBS its has the same problem. from the EBS output font look like as (COURIER) rather than CALIBRI WESTERN.

Problem when transporting form from DEV system to PRODUCTION system

Hi Experts,
We are developing forms in ABAP, for example there is a form developed in dev system and this form has JS coding in some UI elements events like initialize, on change and on exit; also has one script object defined as variable. this script object has some functions defined in order to do some common validations and field specific ones too.
The form in DEV work fine, all the functions calling, all the validations and the events are working properly as expected. But there is a problem when we moved the changes done in development system into production system. Specifically the script object has the problem: even though the coding is the same in both systems, in production system we had an script error: "Body.CATALOGPARAMS has no properties", as if the Body.CATALOGPARAMS was never instanciated, or it is not defined...
The code that produces this error is the following:

itemCount = Body.CATALOGPARAMS.DATA.instanceManager.count;
CATALOGPARAMS is table defined as context table coming from an ABAP FM where is filled and passed into the form.
In order to fix this problem I changed that part for the following
var itemCount = 0;
var catalogTable = null;
catalogTable = xfa.resolveNode("Body.CATALOGPARAMS.DATA");
itemCount = catalogTable.instanceManager.count;
This still works as fine as the other in DEV system. But my question is: will I have the same problem when we transport the changes to production system, you have to know that a transport is not something that you can do every day, so I am taking precautions before the transport. Which of both coding is the best for doing this?
Any observations, comments, questions in order to clarify some points are welcome, so please do it.

before everything, I activated the form, then I added this form to a new transport using se80 transaction: I navigated through the form objects and I added the form to a new transport by second click on the form -> other functions -> write transport entry. is this the correct way to assign a transport package with the entire form (including script objects, layouts, and all you told in the last reply)??
Can you give me a guide on how-to add the specific parts to the same transport for forms?

Encore freezes when I change from DVD to blu ray

When I open Encore, or link from Premier pro CS4, and change from DVD to blu ray Encore freezes completely. Not even alt - ctrl - del works.
Everything works fine when making DVD's, the problem comes when trying to change to blu ray.
Has anyone seen this problem, - what can I do?
