Problems with include tags

Ok, I am having a peculairly annoying problem for my site. My include tags (action or directives) are not working approx. 40% of the time. They did work in the past but they are not today. So for instance any of my pages that are referring to a common navigation bar using an include action show up without the navigation bar. It is a total mess. I am not sure if it is my servers fault or mine. I have already complained to my website provider but I was wondering if there is anything I can do to make them work or atleast throw an error when they dont get displayed instead of what its doing right now. If you think its a server issue, I would appreciate any tech jargon you can provide me to throw at them. They tend to say things like "it worked for me."
Btw, I havnt done anything fancy.. in a normal html page I have included an include action(s). None of my pages have more than 2 actions and 1 directive. Most have only 1 action.

Could you post a sample of a JSP causing the problem?

  • XSLT problem with img tag in Saxon

    Hi,
Iam getting a problem with <img> tag when transforming a document using Saxon transformer. In the input XSLT I have proper closing tag for <img>, but the output of the transformation is not well formed as the closing tag for <img> does not appear. I need to feed the output to a FO object to generate a print preview, but the output is not well-formed.
Kindly help to resolve the issue.
    Kind Regards,
    Abhinandan

Perhaps that is because you are generating HTML as your output? As I recall, <img> tags don't have to be closed in HTML. So try generating XML instead if you need XML.

  • Problems with iterate tags

    Hi everybody,
We're using OC4J 9.0.2 but we have a problem with iterate tags. The doAfterBody is ignored and so, the body is never done !
This work fine with version 9.0.3. If we compare the two generated servlets(9.0.2 & 9.0.3), the code is really different.
Is this a know bug, is it possible to solve this problem ?
Our client is still in 9.0.2 and is not ready for an upgrade.
    Any idea is welcome ...

It's unlikely anyone can help you if you don't show any of your code or explain what is really happening.
Have you set breakpoints (or added print statements) in your doStartTag, doEndTag, and doAfterBody methods, and verified the return values are what they should be?

  • Problems with include jsp

Hi... my english are not good enough but im trying to explain.
I wanna include a url using <jsp:include tag, but my url have params.... so i know i have to use <jsp:param 4 each param.... So i did a little scriptlet that takes the url and separe each param to put it in a bidimensional array then i make a string with all the result... i mean... <jsp:inlcude page="relative URL" flush="true"><jsp:param name="hi" value="2"/>... next param... next param... </jsp:inlcude>.... i write the string at the jsp but it seems doesnt work.. this i made it with a document.write...
the problem here is... the string its ok coz if i cut and paste the result i work great... but... if i make it dynamically ... nothing happens....
Either i did put it the bidimensional array at the request.setAttribute for catch it at the next jsp and make a bucle for... but the same trouble... nothings happen...
    Some idea? :(

You definitely want to use a jsp include action, not a directive. The directive
happens at translation time and does not process the requested page. An action
happens at request time and treats the requested page as a new request, thus
including the results of the invoked jsp.
BTW, the include action is the tags that looks line <jsp:inculde
page="included_page.jsp" flush="true"/> or something similar (parameters can
    also be specified).
The JSP 1.1 spec has more details. See sections 2.7.5 & 2.7.6 (for the include
directive and a quick comparison of the directive vs the action) and 2.13.4 (for
    the include action).

  • Object parameters with include tag

    Hello,
I have a problem with JSP. What I wanna do is to call a JSP file with an object parameter. But all I can do is passing strings to the page.
Since I need to iterate on the object string parameters isn't enough for me.
Any ideas, like putting the parameter on session or build the page servlet based?
I am confused and any help would be great.
    Thanks.

    Reposted to fix syntax:
I'm using the book "Web Development with JavaServer Pages" as a reference for writing my code. In it there is some code for iterating through an indexed JavaBean property. I am doing the exact same thing but it won't work for me. I have included the code at the end.
If I use project.getCode() this works but when using the getProperty tag I get a null value. If I change the line
    project = projectList[a];
    to
    pageContext.setAttribute("project", projectList[a]);
the project.getCode() doesn't work but the getProperty tag does.
According to the book, I should be able to declare the Project object reference using a Bean tag then change the reference later.
Is this a JRun bug or am I doing something wrong?

  • Problem with include and relative path in jsp

Precompile jsp with wlappc in 9.2, I got the error "The include file was not found" when the jsp use <%@ include file="../includes/dataEntry/code_error.html" %>
This code used to work with 8.1. I notice that someone has report the same problem with 9.0 and you have patch for it. Is it fix in 9.2 or do I require a patch as well?
              Thanks,
              Khuemy

When you precompile, can you say "Keepgenerated=TRUE". It might help you track
down the difference with the URL. You should only get a 404 error when the
resource is not found at runtime, which is independant of when you compile. The
difference should be in how the URL is compiled.

  • Problem with custom tag

I have written a custom tag that I am having problems with. It works on some machines, but not on others. I have a page that uses many 'standard' tags. I have correctly set the URI etc, because all of my other tags work. However, on some machines, my custom tag gives me an error:
attribute does not support request time values
I'm assuming that I have the correct versions of standard.jar etc because all of the regular jstl 1.1 tags work. It is just my custom tag that throws an error.

    Any thoughts/help greatly appreciated...

I encountered the same problem in our environment. I did the same thing as
James. Simply re-initialize all variables in the do end tag.
Also, with the nested tags you use you may also need to implement cloneable
in the inner tag if the outer tag keeps references to all the inner tag
              instances.
For instance if the outer tag kept a vector of references to the inner tag,
then you would need to use clone() on the inner tag before adding it to the
              vector.

  • Problem with import tag in xsl files and include in xsd files

    Hello,
I've been developing an application using JBoss as server. Then, i created an especific path for xsd and another path for xsl files. In both cases, i created a main file that include (xsd) or import (xsl) the other files. My problem is that i have to specify the exactly path where the imported xsl or the included xsd files are, even though they are in the same path as the main file. What i want to know is how i say that the other xsd and xsl files are in the same path that the main file that is importing them?
here's an example of my import and include declarations:

  • Problems with and tags while reading the xml file

    Hi

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

         String resultFilename = root.getChildText("filename");
         Element tabSet = root.getChild("querydata");//doesnt work
         ArrayList tabSetlist = new ArrayList(tabSet.getChildren ("tabdata"));//doesnt work
The code commented with "doesnt work", is not working. What must be the problem ?
    Thanks in Advance
    Martin

Okay. Your original example XML didn't include < or > which was rather confusing if that particular feature was supposed to be the cause of the problem. Also calling them "tags" was rather confusing since "tags" is the term for the things that come at the beginning and of an element, like this:<data>...</data>Anyway, I assume your theory is that documents that don't have < in a text element process correctly and documents that do have < in a text element get "stuck" in the parser? Well, from your original description the process appears to be:
    1. Create XML
    2. Parse it into a Document
    3. Send the Document via JMS
    4. Receive the Document via JMS
    5. Process it.
And it's step 4 that is "stuck"? That would be my guess based on the code you posted.

dearranged page which has the code of the left_nav.jsp present in the html
    output.
On opening this page to edit, when a small modification is made and the file
is saved, a reload of the same page gives the proper output with all the
    jsp's interpreted.
    Thanks to one and all,

  • XML File - Problem.with naming tags with XI standard functions

    Hello,
    simple (?) problem:
Receiver expects an XML file via file adapter.
(The source data comes from an RFC connect to XI.)
In the XML tags like these are expected (following W3C definitions):
    A)   </gdt:ValueGroup>
How to define a data type with a ":" in its name or to convert it to the required tag?
    B)   <gdt:ExtendedAttribute gdt:guid="4c102d6b077de7c1f0e27391e40bb80f" gdt:code="X01" >GR2 LI3</gdt:ExtendedAttribute>
This one is a real nice one. The part with "gtd:guid=" within the tag is variable. How to add such values into tag names?
Any ideas if this is possible with standard and how.
If this is the limit of XI I think we need an XSLT- or JAVA-maping program to generate the required file.
    Thank you for any help!
    Best regards
    Dirk

    Hi Dirk,
    just one thing:
    >>>>The part with "gtd:guid=" within the tag is variable.
this is ok as it's just an attribute
    of the ExtendedAttribute tag's name
so it can be variable without any problems
(you can fill it in the mapping for example)
