Problems with samsung syncmaster 173v

hi i got msi geforcefx 5600 [128mb] vtdr version ... anyway i also bought samsung syncmaster 173v LCD monitor ... but the strange thing is there are more contrasts on the sides of the LCD then the middle ... it is like that all non-windows and games ... i dont understand why and LCD cant adjust this ... for example if i change the desktop to plain color black ... i can see the difference between the middle and sides easily ... all the system is well setup so it is either the agp card or the LCD ... i went to the store and they give me the chance to test a new LCD (same one) with my PC and it turns out to be the same ... i contact to the samsung on their website (which they didnt respond) ... is there a firmware update or something like this ... pls help me ... it is the first time i am using a LCD and i guess it was not such a good idea to give up CRT :( ... btw my system is
pentium 4 - 3ghz (HT)
msi geforcefx 5600
asus pc4800 mobo
and the rest is not related with the problem i guess ... let me know any missing info about the situation ... regards to all

I recommend you get on samsung.com and look for chat.  I just finished spending about a hour with them about another model and covered a series on difficulties.  I was surprised to find out on their website that my Samsung LCD TV was not covered by any warrantee!  (It really is tho - but the site says "No".)   Just one of many surprises that they are still working on.  The other big deal is figuring out the software upgrade function.  Good luck!

  • I just bought Mac Book pro; trying to hook up dual monitor with Samsung syncmaster 2033 but no signal; I am using dvi to hdmi converter. Please assist.

I just purchased a Macbook Pro but unable to set up dual display with samsung syncmaster 2033 via DVI to HDMI port.
Thank you in advance for help.

There has been quite a lot of discussion here about driving twin displays with the mini, and more recently about the potential for USB video adapters to facilitate this, particularly in the light of several vendors claiming they have suitable MacOS devices and drivers 'almost ready'.
The DisplayLink solution seems to be the one most suggested as viable, though it's a pity they have not yet been able to move their drivers from beta - I suspect that puts a few people off. It's therefore good to hear of a real-world experience that should help others decide whether or not to go this route!

  • Problem: Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter with Samsung Syncmaster 2033HD

    Hi,
I am using the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter to connect to a Samsung Syncmaster 2033HD
However, I get No Signal with DVI as the Source.
It works when plugged into the DVI slot of the Mac Pro.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Chad

DisplayPort and its variant Mini DisplayPort, use a new and different protocol for communicating with your display.
A properly-functioning adapter can request the DisplayPort use "Dual-Mode", which produces a good approximation of single-Link DVI/HDMI. This is good for resolutions up to 1920 wide, which would include your Samsung (1600 by 900).
Wider displays require a more expensive "active" "powered" converter, to convert DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI.
So if the display works with a straight DVI connection, but not a DisplayPort adaptation to "Dual Mode" DVI the weak link appears to be the adapter, but you cannot quite rule out the display card.

  • Problem (ugly display) with Samsung syncmaster 2243

    Hello
I just plug my Samsung Syncmaster 2243BW on the mac mini (DVI). The resolution set is the good one : 1680x1050 @ 60hz, but the display isn' t clear, accurate, especially with the fonts.
    any ideas
    thanks in advance

Without knowing exactly what it is you see and object to, I will say that a 22" monitor with 1680 x 1050 resolution is at the low end of the scale among most monitors on the market in terms of density of pixels on the screen. If you consider one square centimeter of area on your 22" monitor, it will have approximately 1250 pixels within that area. Then consider that a 17" MacBook Pro will have 2750 pixels within that same area of one square centimeter.
Obviously text will look a lot more clear when there is a pixel density of more than double on one display compared to another. Again, I am not sure if this is the underlying reason for your complaint about your new monitor, but it's something to consider.
Samsung also make a 2343 monitor, and even though it is only one inch larger in size, it is quite a bit higher in resolution. You might be happier with that.

  • MacMini looks terrible with Samsung SyncMaster 225BW

I have the latest Mac working with a Samsung SyncMaster 225 monitor, and the font aliasing look terrible! Is there anything I can do about this? I have gone through the colour calibration and it is slightly improved, but it still looks pretty poor.
I have connected this monitor to a PC and the font display looks good, except for Apple's webpages (such as these discussion forums)! What fonts are used here? And why do these look so poor on this 22" 1680x1050 DVI connected TFT monitor?
    Any clue would be appreciated?

Thanks for the reply. I think it is half and half, the problem is both Apple and the Samsung. I believe the graphics adapter (Intel GMA 950) in the MacMini is pretty poor and what you said about Apple's font smoothing... and I think the actual Samsung panel is somehow not good with this adapter.
I tried the MacMini on an NEC 21" and it looked better, and I also tried it on a BenQ 24" and this was pretty good. I also have a iMac 24" and whatever panel they use in that, the fonts, etc looks pretty **** good!
So there must be something going on with the Samsung 225BW and the Mini itself! (Although, to be honest, my NEC 1770NX 17" LCD monitor is not giving that good a display at the moment!)
Is there a way of updating the driver for this Samsung (or this NEC 1770NX) monitor?! Are we all stuck with whatever driver the Mac uses when it detects the display?

  • Resolution problems with Samsung monitor

I recently purchased a Samsung Syncmaster 19" TV/monitor for use with my MacBook while at university. The monitor's resolution is 1440x900, and my macbook correctly chooses this resolution when plugged in.
My understanding was that when using a larger monitor, the proportions of OS X remain the same, you just have more screen space for windows.
However, while having slightly more screen space, everything is displayed slightly larger than normal. For instance, the menu bar and window option lights in the top-left corner are all larger, which is like running a resolution which is too low.
I am running a 2.16 MacBook, connected to the external display with a mini-dvi to dvi connector.
Is there any way to solve this?
    Thanks in advance.

There has been some issues using external monitors with Macbook Pros since 10.5.2 came out. I am one of the many. Check previous posts regarding this issue.

  • Problems With Samsung SCD107 Camcorder

Hi, I have the Samsung SCD107 Camcorder and whenever I turn it on and enter camera mode all I see on the LCD screen and viewfinder is black. I have been told that the CCD sensor is broken. I was wondering if this is able to be repaired and how much i would cost to repair it.
    -Thanks

    Hi matt624,
The problem with your viewfinder and LCD screen could be caused by a faulty sensor, but the only way to really know is to have a technician look at your camcorder. I would first suggest having a digital imaging expert in a Best Buy® store look at the camcorder. If they determine that there is a defect in your camcorder the Geek Squad® precinct in the store should be able to have it sent out to a service center.
If there is a defect in the camcorder it can most likely be repaired, but the real question is will it be cost effective to repair or would you be better off putting that money towards the purchase of a new camcorder. The only real way to know would be to have a technician determine what is wrong, and get a quote on how much it would cost to repair. It would be impossible to guess the cost of the repair without a conclusive diagnosis.
    Thanks for posting,

  • LR 2.5 and color profile problems with Samsung XL2370

    Lightroom 2.5 / Windows XP3 / CS4 Photoshop / Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 LED monitor:
Changed monitor from Dell to Samsung's new LED SyncMaster XL2370. Updated Nvidia 7900GS card driver to latest version available.... resulting in a complete mixup of photo colors in Lightroom2.5 as well as CS4 Photoshop CR2(raw) and Tiff files; white becoming red, blue becoming green....., so really wrong!!! JPEG files are not affected.
When I change Color Settings(RGB) in CS4 Photoshop from ProphotoRGB or AdobeRGB1998 to Samsung monitor color profile, colors get at least more or less right.( I don't know how to do that in Lightroom?).
How can I resolve this situation? My complete photo archive is at stake obviously.
Thanks in advance for your help and support!!!
    Paul

Thx Ian for your reply!  Some more questions...
-Is it "normal" when unpacking/installing a new monitor and updating card drivers that it mixes up color profiles? Your solutions seem still pretty expensive!
-How come that when using other (non Adobe)tools (e.g Canon Zoombrowser EX) colors are OK?
-I know how to specify color profiles in CS4 Photoshop but how do you do that in Lightroom?

  • Massive problems with Samsung Fascinate

I've had my phone for a little over 9 months. When I first got it, it was great. Then the "upgrades" came. I now have an unreliable brick. In the past 20 minutes today, it has reset on me 4 times for no reason. It freezes constantly, so I can't depend on it to make or receive phone calls (which almost made me late to work one day since I couldn't call to have someone let me in at 5:30 in the morning.)
Is anyone else having these problems? Is Verizon planning on fixing these problems? What are my options? Any advice would be helpful.
    Thanks!

I've had the same problems with my Fascinate.   Since the upgrade, it freezes up constantly.  It's so bad that I don't even bother to turn it on most days (then I find out I missed a dozen calls and messages).  It's really appalling that Verizon Wireless won't offer customers a better solution for a phone that clearly isn't working for them.  I'm eligible for an "upgrade" in about a month and I can't wait to get away from this high-tech brick!

  • Big Problems with Samsung Series 830 SSD SATA III (256GB) and W520

    Hi,
i get my W520 last week with an normal SATA 500 GB Drive, at home i changed it to a Samsung Series 830 SSD SATA III (256GB) and install windows 7 64bit pro via recovery media.
I was wondering, startup was taking very long .... from starting windows to the logon screen 1.45 minutes ... Now i tried a new recovery, same issue, tested the harddisk which is in good state.
I changed back to the 500GB Drive, startup take only 30 seconds around....
    Are there any known issues?

  • Problems with samsung scd 107

I have the samsung scd 107 and can't for the life of me figure out how to transfer the footage i have recorded on mini dv to the computer. I want to edit it but can't even transfer the footage to my pc (by the way i have a vista operating system so hope that's not a problem) so someone please help me. Do I need to buy something else to help transfer.

    Hi sweetsuicide,
To upload your footage to your computer so you can edit it you will need to get a 4 pin IEEE 1394 cord (also known as a "FireWire" cord) to connect your camcorder to your computer. Make sure you get a “FireWire” cord that has a 4 pin connection on one side (connects to the camcorder), and the appropriate pin count connector (4 or 6 pin) on the other side (connects to your computer). It sounds like you have a relatively new computer, which means you should only need the cord. With older computers you might have needed to purchase an IEEE 1394 add-on-card for the computer.
Directions on how to upload your footage start on page 78 of your user manual, and if you no longer have your manual you can download a copy from the manufacturer here.
    I hope this helps!

  • Problems with Samsung Continuum. Anyone else?

So I purchased the Samsung Continuum in June, and at first everything seemed fine. But after just a month or two the phone became very slow and would freeze often. I had to factory reset the phone several times, but the problems persisted. Shortly after that the phones alarm clock began to malfunction and would shut itself off after a few minutes or several hours. This is a problem because I rely on my phone as my primary alarm clock. My phone also freezes when I try to use the camera. When the phone freezes, it resends random previously sent text messages. Is anyone else having all of these issues? And will Verizon do anything about them. It is very frustrating.

Wow, sounds like alot of issues with your Continuum. My wife has one, so I am familiar with it. As far as the phone and freezing, what apps do you have installed? There are a number of troubleshooting techniques you can try. When you did the factory reset, did you re-install all of your apps? I just saw on Verizon's site that the Continuum does not support Safe Mode, so you may have to start removing apps one by one to see if there is an app that is causing your problems. Are you running any kind of advanced task killers or memory managers on your phone?
I would think the only thing Verizon would do is to replace the phone with a Certified Like New Continuum if it is within 1 year of your purchase. After that, you are limited in what they can/will do.

  • Problems with Samsung PN42A450 TV

    Hello,
First time here and I'll start with the problems
I purchased Samsung PN42A450 last year and bought additional 3 year warranty for $199.
90% of the time I watch cable and from time to time DVD movies.
After the first few months, a strange red spot in the bottom right corner started to show.
It was small, and you could've only see it on the dark (black) display.
But soon after it started spreading to the uper side on the TV and I called the GeekSquad.
The guy came over, checked the TV and order parts.
After two weeks another guy came to install it. It was the main board.
Problem fixed, but just temporarily. A few days later, same problem occured.
This time after watching the TV station longer, the logo on that station will appear on the next channel. like a red stamp.
    It was even worse.
Called geek squad again, guy came, and said it is nothing, that is normal for all the Plasmas and just did the adjustments. Problem solved, again for few days.
I call Geek Squad again, they send in third guy, who called Samsung and they told him they will send another part.
I am not sure what part it was, but the part looked like a green plastic and it was on the bottom on the TV. It didn't work. The red spot was still one. I was getting angrier, and said to that guy that if the TV is not repairable I am going to ask for replacement. He said he knows what the problem is and ordered another part. It was logic board.
He was so sure that will work. And it worked, but now instead of the red spot, the right hand side of the TV is more whitish than black, just the edges of the whole side.
I don't know what to do. I have waranty and I want to exchange this TV.
Did some of you have problems like this before?
I was really happy when I purchased this TV, but now after so many repairs and visits from Geek Squad it feels like I bought used TV for the price of new one.
    Any input is appreciated.
    Thanks

I recommend you get on samsung.com and look for chat.  I just finished spending about a hour with them about another model and covered a series on difficulties.  I was surprised to find out on their website that my Samsung LCD TV was not covered by any warrantee!  (It really is tho - but the site says "No".)   Just one of many surprises that they are still working on.  The other big deal is figuring out the software upgrade function.  Good luck!

  • Problems with Samsung Continuum

I am having several issues with my Samsung Continuum:
    1.  I use the email application for a yahoo and gmail account.  There have been several times where the app does not pick up messages for a significant period of time.  I typically do a soft reset of the phone every could of days to and it seems to reset this issue, but it doesn't seem normal that I should have to do that.
    2.  The other day a duplicate gmail account showed up in the email app.  I tried to delete one of them and when I did, both accounts were deleted.  I re-entered the account information and again it showed up twice.  I have re-deleted and re-added several times now and have not been able to solve the problem.
    3.  The music player application starts running on its own and drains the battery.  I use the task manager multiple times per day to stop this application.
Any suggestions as to how to solve these issues?
    Thank you/

These are all significant problems, but they're all resolvable. Please send me a personal message with your mobile number, a phone number where you can be reached and a good time for me to call. Thank you!
