How can i do this?

Dear Krishna,
1. Yes, GP has backward compatability. Everything will be fine, unless you delete the old process templates. If you just deploy a new version, the old ones will work fine.
2. Can you please comment which SP are your machines on? The Delete Instance button was probably added in a later SP.

I attempt to open a second window from the icon but it does not open then when firefox is closed it will not reopen because it is still running in processes but no window displayed until you kill the process and then restart firefox.

I attempted to open a new window from the Firefox icon but nothing happens. I then went on browsing and closed Firefox but was later unable to open it. I checked processes and it was already running but there was no window displayed. I am running Windows 7 Professional.
This is repeated any time I already have the browser open and wish to open a second instance.

There are no standard list to provide, you should identify the issue through regression testing and raise an SR or create a thread accordingly we can help you.
Note:- Issues are vary to instance to instance, version to version, installation to upgrade etc..

Firefox become in Offline mode and unable to open any page and when shut down it remains in processes and freez up, blocking another to be run

When I on my Laptop, Acer Aspire 5735 with Windows 7 Ultimate run Firefox all runs perfectly smooth, all is working as expected, but when I go to Sleep mode or Hibernate (Firefox remains open) after turning on Firefox is not active any more, all open tabs are there but surfing is unavailable. Firefox reports message that it is in Offline mode (but menu File > Work Offline is not checked and if I check it and uncheck it again it doesn't have any impact). Which means If I open new tab and write web address it wont open, if I click any link in opened tabs from before, it wont open anything and it will show message that Firefox is in offline mode. After that I shut down Firefox by using Close(x) button and it disappears from desktop but it remains in memory and active processes not allowing any other instance of Firefox to be run. Finally I shut it down on force (End process) and start another instance and all works perfect. I am not sure is this only my problem with hardware/software configuration so I wanted to share this.

This is a pain but I have resolved it. This is instructions for Windows 7 but it may be the same on other Operating systems.

BPM Process and data management

Greetings,
I want to ask a question related with best practice topics. What is the best way to manage the information generated by process execution?. Its ok to have a database different from the workflow database to store the most important data.
I know this could be somethig redundant, but its easier to manage the data this way because managing an accessing the "BLOBs" in the workflow repository is not easy. Its there any advice in relation to this topic, any link or document ?

What I'm missing also within Process and Task Management Facade is the link between ProcessInstance and related TaskInstances.
I know I can get tasks for a user by Status or ID. But I see no way to get a set of tasks for a certain process Instance.
Will Process and Task Management Facade also be enhanced for SAP NW CE 7.3 EHP1?
Is it already known what new features will be available or is this information published during TechEd?

Unable to kill work process and user sessions.

Iam facing a different problem in my prd system.Dialog process of a particular user has been running continuosly for long time, when i killed it with cancel with core or with out core option in sm50 still it is starting automatically on different PID and going in to loop.Even though user is not logged in and no back ground jobs are running still the process is running on its own.Even i tried killing the PID from OS level using DPMON but was of no help.
I tried to kill the user session and log him out from sm04 from it was not happening, locked the user also but was of no help.
Has anybody faced this situation?Is there any option excluding restarting the system to solve this issue.

In case of multiple instances you have to log off the user from system wide select this option from SM04 while deleting user session again look for the action in SM50 for the process and if possible get details by activating trace from ST05 and filter with user, wp.

Are a single ns-slapd process and its 32 LWP (light weight processes) limited or bound to a single processor?

ns-slapd and its LWP sub-processes seem to appear as a single process in some tools. Does this limit them to only being able to use one of the available processors on a multi-processor system, either due to lock management or for some other reason?
W see all the CPUs on a four processor system receiving activity, but the system never exceeds 25% utilization, or, the total of a single CPU.
Is this a limitation, or are we just not using it much yet?

The short answer:
No, and you shouldn't need to worry about it anyway.
The long answer:
The configuration LDAP is never a bottleneck in an iAS system. You could have hundreds of iAS servers running off a single instance and a single processor LDAP would still be able to handle the configuration requests easily.
If you also use your LDAP server as an authentication repository, you should size your LDAP server based on your authentication needs. But even if you are using iDS as an authentication store there are several other factors to keep in mind.
1. iDS scales pretty effectively up to about four CPU's for the most important operations (i.e. reads)
2. Unless you are running some unusual application server hardware, you will run out of disk i/o long before you run out of CPU power.
3. If you have any significant load on the directory server you should probably offload it onto its own server (or partition) anyway so that it doesn't steal excessive amounts of memory from that appserver.
4. Similarly, if you are putting a lot of stress on the directory server with authentications, you should consider tuning the directory server for those authentications.
I guess a little more detail about your application server architecture would be helpful in figuring out why your CPU doesn't exceed 25%. I strongly doubt that it has anything to do with slapd, however.

Understanding asynchronous BPEL processes and threading

Hi everybody,
I have a question regarding asynchronous BPEL processes and threading.
I have an asynchronous BPEL process which delivers a message (picked up from a JMS topic) to a repository (via for instance an ICAN server). This transaction must be time-sensitive, i.e. first-in is first-out.
If I have several threads running concurrently I have no guarantee that the messages are delivered in the same order that they where generated. It seems that the suggested way around this problem is to use single-threading.
So here's the part that I do not understand:
An asynchronous request does not wait for a response. If I use single-threading then what happens to that single-thread if for some reason (for instance the ICAN server is not responding) the BPEL instance is dehydrated? Is the thread still allocated for waiting for the first response or does it go back and pick up the next thing on the topic? If the next thing on the topic is picked up then how can I be sure that the messages are delivered in the correct order? If the thread is still allocated to the single instance then does that not kindda go against the whole concept of an asynchronous process?
I hope some one can explain this to me.

Is there any way to have several BPEL processes running on the same server with different settings for how many threads to use?
It seems that the only way to set number of threads used by BPEL is to use the configuration in the BPEL console? This is an domain setting - which means that all processes deployed to the server is effected the same way?
I am asking because I am facing a scenario where I need one BPEL process to read from a AQ queue (well actually a topic) with a single thread and another BPEL process - deployed to the same BPEL server - to read from the same AQ queue with multiple threads.
Does anyone have any idea of how to do this? Can it be done?
Any suggestions, hints or reference to any documentation would be very much appreciated.

Dynamic navigation, on HCM Process and Forms "Web Dynpro FORM"

I'm trying to solve an issue regarding dynamic navigation, on a enhacement done at the Web Dynpro ABAP QISR_UI component for HCM Process and Forms.
I'm hiding the Adobe Form, and doing "do_dynamic_navigation" for a dynamic generated view container present at the VIEWSHOWFORM on the QISR_UI component.
The code works great, i.e.: the Adobe Form remains hidden and the custom form, using Web Dynpro appears.
I'm also using the HRASR00_PROCESS_EXECUTE_1 component to execute a Portal IView (Floorplan based component).
When the process is started, and the folowing actions are executed:
1- Select Employee
2- Select Process
3- Edit form
4- Press back (for example if the wrong process is selected)
5- Select the Process
6- Edit form again

Basically what I did was replacing the Adobe Form, by a Web Dynpro component that contains its own form, and associated logic.
Tecnically the steps to acomplish the task were:
1º Development of a component for showing a form. ( I suggest you to start with just a "hello world" or something very basic )
2º Enhance the QISR_UI component (VIEWSHOWFORM view, on the modify view method), something like
if form scenario = XXXXX then
hide the adobe form;
create a custom view container (the problem I had above), and create an instance of the component created on step 1
end if
3º Access the context that the original form returns (you can check the context debugging the VIEWSHORFORM view )
4º Pass the context to the component created..
I can't provide further details on this, I'm sorry...
I do not suggest doing this, this was a requirement so I had to do it... But this requires a lot of workarrounds, and lots of small changes in standard code related with process and forms... It's not, also, a "clean" solution

Process and Redirect Question

Hello -
Thinking back to some ASP and JSP practices, sometimes you might have a page that was purely for processing a form and then the page just redirects. I am wondering what the best way to do this in HTMLDB is.
For instance, if I have a report and I configure one of the columns of the report to be a hyperlink that reads "Process" or something. The desired functionality would be to run a process associated with this row in the report, then redirect back to the same report page. Like I said, in ASP or JSP my link might call another page which does the processing and then redirects back.
I tried to create a page with an "On Load" process and then an "On Load Redirect" following it, but it does not seem to work. Is there a cleaner way to do this in HTMLDB?

We have a branch type 'Branch to Page Accept'. When you branch to a page using this type of branch, the page is not shown: only the after-submit processing is performed. Then that page's branching is performed and you end up on yet another page.
What you need is a way to do this type of branch in a URL redirect from your report link. You can do this. Such a link to page 10 would look like:
f?p=&APP_ID.:10:&SESSION.:BRANCH_TO_PAGE_ACCEPT:NO::ITEM1,ITEM2:VALUE1,VALUE2Page 10 would be 'submitted' and would do after-submit computations, validations, processes, and branching. For the case you described, you'd redirect (or directly branch) back to the report page, but you can implement n-way branching logic as well.
And there's more: because pages often use the value of the request (the button used to submit the page) to direct after-submit logic, you can pass in a request in the URL described above. To set the request to 'PROCESS', for example, the URL would be:
f?p=&APP_ID.:10:&SESSION.:BRANCH_TO_PAGE_ACCEPT|PROCESS:NO::ITEM1,ITEM2:VALUE1,VALUE2The engine sees the request as 'BRANCH_TO_PAGE_ACCEPT' and skips the 'show' processing, going directly to 'accept' processing. Then the request that your page is interested in ('PROCESS') is parsed out and passed to your page as the real request value.

HCM Process and Forms Generic Service Error

I tried creating a generic service for HCM Process and Forms using enhancement spot HRASR00GENERIC_SERVICES. After I created a custom implementation I then added the filter value = ZH_FORM_HEADER (my generic service name/definition). When I try to go into the configuration and add the generic service and do the binding of the fields I get an error stating "Generic Service ZH_FORM_HEADER has more than one implementation." I have double checked and only one implementation is using that filter value and there are no implementations with a blank filter value that belong to this enhancement spot. Any suggestions on what could be wrong? I can create generic services and the implementations of the BADIs just fine in our sandbox just not in the development instance. Also, I have tried searching on OSS and SDN and couldn't find any messages associated with this problem.

We are having a similar problem. Our generic service works OK in development system. But after we transport the service to Test system, the service haveing the error " Generic service XXXXXX has more than one implementation".

Script QPAC: how to get a process manager instance?

Hi,
I was desperately fiddling about the scripting QPAC, trying to get an instance of process manager.
Since PATAbstractServiceEx is an abstract class, I cannot instantiate it and call its getContext().getProcessManager() methods.
I also tried to access a session using QLCSessionFactory.createSession("...") and then calling the session's getProcessManager() method. But no sessions were found.
Does anyone know, which classes/methods to use in order to get a process manager instance?

ENQ processes and semaphore 26 in SM66/SM50, SAPLSENA & SAPLSENT

We quite often see a number of DIA and ENQ processes in status 'running' with a Semaphore 26 error in SM66/SM50. Most of these (but not always all) show reads on tables SAPLSENA and SAPLSENT.
Many other processes - DIA, BTC and UPD - then have the 'stopped ENQ' status and also show reads on tables SAPLSENA, SAPLSENT and SAPLTHFB.
This doesn't last for that long but seems to be a common occurrence and we often get performance complaints during this time.
Note 33873 - What do the semaphores mean? - shows that this is the ENQ-TABLE-Semaphore.
One suggestion was that a filesystem backup running at the time was locking a file (enque related file??) but we have not been able to substaniate this. We could run the command fuser but which file is being locked?
We have already followed SAP Note 1384191 - Transaction SM50: Many processes with report SAPLSENA, but could not see any useful indicators in the log file produced.
Has anyone else experienced this or know how to check what is causing this?

enque/backup_file is set to the default, /usr/sap/S1P/DVEBMGS00/log/ENQBCK.
We have already ran fuser on this file, and although there appear to be a LOT of processes accessing the file, none of these belong to the filesystem backup which we thought may be locking it.
We are not using a standalone enqueue, the enqueue is part of the central instance.
What do you mean by dev_enqwork? I checked the dev_* files in /usr/sap/S1P/DVEBMGS50/work but there are a lot of files and a lot of meanlingless information, can't see anything useful here...
Are there any other files that the filesystem backup could be locking that could cause these issues? It seems to be backing up files in /usr/sap/S1P ... not sure it is this though as I have just seen ENQ semaphore 26 processes and there is no backup running now....

MST region and instances

I have a query regarding MST, I have attached the topology, i am suing 4500 switches as the CORE in the LAn network and many 2960,3850 as access switches, am also using Nexus switches. I would like to use Multiple spanning tree(MST) in the network. My plan was to make the 4500 VSS core as the root switch. However am confused as to how many regions and instances do i create. Please give ur valuable views on this as to how do i go about and apply MST on the network

Usually you don't need more than one region and one instance unless you have a lots of vlans and you want to load balance traffic. Multiple regions with multiple instance can make things complicated and hard to manage.
For switches to participate in multiple spanning-tree (MST) instances, you must consistently configure the switches with the same MST configuration information. A collection of interconnected switches that have the same MST configuration comprises an MST region as shown in Figure 19-1.
The MST configuration controls to which MST region each switch belongs. The configuration includes the name of the region, the revision number, and the MST VLAN-to-instance assignment map. You configure the switch for a region by using the spanning-tree mst configuration global configuration command, after which the switch enters the MST configuration mode. From this mode, you can map VLANs to an MST instance by using the instance MST configuration command, specify the region name by using the name MST configuration command, and set the revision number by using the revision MST configuration command.
A region can have one or multiple members with the same MST configuration. Each member must be capable of processing RSTP bridge protocol data units (BPDUs). There is no limit to the number of MST regions in a network, but each region can support up to 65 spanning-tree instances. Instances can be identified by any number in the range from 0 to 4094. You can assign a VLAN to only one spanning-tree instance at a time.

One more issue is that when i try to move my cluster from active to passive node the shared folders /sapmnt,saploc and db2dumps disappears and even after restoring the cluster to the active node i'm unable to see the shared folders.
Can anyone help me out in resolving this issue

You did not meet the requirements necessary for a SAP installation, you pagefile is too small. Check the installation guide for necessary pagefile requirements.
