Process chain doubt

Hi All,
In process chain in one process step which is delta load
for master data infoobject failed due to error as idocs not updated to business warehouse an d avlble in ale inbox, now below the step there are amny steps connected ,if we do no manuall update by going to the monitor screen ,status -process manually .then we have to do manually other steps ,so to avoid that i repeated the step,it fetched 0 records saying there are new deltas on r-3 side,so how can i know that the delta updated is with correct delta records compared to r-3 side records.
Thanks
venkat

Hello Venkat
You performed repeat step and it fetched 0 records saying that there are No new deltas on R/3 side and you want to check if you have missed delta records.
Few tips - Find out from RSMON , Generally everyday how many delat records are updated for that Info object .
If you know the tables for master data on this Info object on R/3 side then check what are new entries and changed entries (created on yesterday & changed on yesterday ) and validate it with BW Master data table .
Hope this helps

  • Error handling in process chain-doubts

    Hi ,
I have some doubts in error handling of process chains.
    1) I have  aprocess load infopackeage and subsequent process is update fromPSA.
process load infopackage got failed  , so i loaded  the IP manually and repeated the next i.e process update from PSA .
How to correct the process chain from now?
    2) I have  aprocess load infopackeage and subsequent process is Delete request in infocube .process load infopackage got failed  , so i loaded  the IP manually and repeated the next process i.e Delete request in infocube. Chain continued by deleting the right request . How this is possible ?
Plz  help me  as this is urgent and daily i have to deal with this  issues. If any documents on error handling is greatly appreciated.

Errors in monitoring of process chains can be categorized into 4 different sections...
    Master data - Full Update
    Master data - Delta Update
    Transaction data - Full Update
Transaction data - Delta Update.. in terms of loading of data which can be due to server shut down or system maintenance... errors due to incorrect entries in the OLTP system in which case you'll have to fix the errors in the PSA and manually load the data...
Otherwise it can have errors on Attribute change run being locked by some other job... Aggregate Roll up failing because of attribute change run being run at the same time... Problem with hierarchies and save hierarchies...
There can be problems with the data store activation if the ODS object contains any incorrect request sitting inside it... then, you need to delete the incorrect request and reload the data again...
In case of Transaction Delta failure, you'll have to request for a repeat either manually in the infopackage or using the repeat option if available on right clicking the load event...
For Master Data Delta failures, you need to do an Re-init by deleteing the previous initalization condition in the "initalization option for source systems" in the menu scheduler or reschedule the enitre chain... because, master data generally do not support repeat of last delta ...

  • RE: Process chain doubt

    Hi Guru's
I am loading 4 flatfile data loads(4 info packages) to the same ODS. my question is while creating, a single process chain with the 4 infopackages should i create 4 ODS0 DATA ACTIVATION or a single ODSO DATA ACTIVATION is ok?
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks In Advance

    VS Rao

    Rao -
if we have indexes in infocube they improves the performance (execution time) of  report on that infocube, but it take much time to load data into infocube when infocube have indexes.to avoid this we always delete the indexes before loading data into infocube after the data load is done then we create those indexes again (deleting indexes improves data load perofmance in infocube). we can do whole cycle in process chain.

  • Process chains doubt

    Hi all,
How can we schedule and monitor the process chains. How can we know that the process chains are executed correctly and where can we get the error messages for the failed processes?
Also when i drag the attribute change run process after an execute infopackage process, inside the change run process there are different object types namely for infoobject, hierarchy and again execute inforpackage.some of the system suggested attribute change run process has the object type as execute infopackage.when should I use infoobject and when should i use execute infopackage for attribute change run process. Also when save hierarchy process is used, execute infopackage comes as default object type.should i have to change that to hierarchy object type.
    Any suggestions is appreciated.
    thanks.

    Hi,
As mentioned by Jkyle you can easily Schedule and Monitor the Process Chain.
Also, for the failed process or for the successful process, you can define Messages. This Messages will automatically come in your Inbox with the Status.
Most of the people use this method for monitoring the Process Chain. You can do this by using the Context Menu of Process Type and say Create Message.
You can remove the InfoPackage by saying Remove Process.
Alternative is use Program RSDDS_AGGREGATES_MAINTAIN for Attibute Change Run define Variant for your InfoObject and Include the Process ABAP Process in your Process Chain.
Hope this helps. Please reward the points if the solution helps you and also let us know if you have any further clarifications.

  • Process Chain Flow doubt

    Hi,
There is a process chain of flow start>Infopackage>DTP>ActivateDSO_->InfoPackage1>DTP1>ActivateDSO1_
Only doubt starts where it is underlined. why the infopackage1 has been linked after the Activate DSO eventhough no dependency for DSO1?
Instead the infopackage1 can be linked after start variant of the same process chain, right?

  • Process chain running :doubt

    Hi,
I had scheduled one process chain which is running now---
now its in last step that is
    "deleting overlapping request in infocube----"
i had checked this job : it is running with out any hassles--
now after this only AND process is there to finish the chain---
Now i want to schedule the process chain again for weekend!
can i change the start varinat though the chain is still running??
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
Its not a good practive to reshedule the chains which is running now..
when u attempt to reschedule then the process will gets terminated from the point where its running .... I mean the present running job will be in active mode and it will gets finished.. but the process after the active process will gets disconnected as soon as u reschedule the chain..
So better to wait for ur chain to finish and then proceed with the reschedule...
Also before rescheduling try to deschedule the chain...
    Thanks
Assigning points is the way to say thanks..
If this resolves ur issue then close this thread by assigning points..

  • Doubt on Process Chain

    Hi BW Experts,
Due to some problems , we have stopped all process chains on 20/09/2007.
    We have MM process chain.
Just now i see the Delta Infopackage of MM. In PROCESSING TAB only PSA is checked.
Update Subsequently in Data Targets in not CHECKED.
We have not changed anything in Processing Tab.
But before 20/09/2007, we have the data in Infocube.
    How it is possible.
    This Process Chain looks:
    START--> DELETE INDEX>LOAD DATA (INFOPACKAGE)>CREATE INDEX>COLLAPSE-->DB STATISTICS.
Please can anyone tell me the solution.
    Regards,
    Anjali

    Hi Anjali,
First of all, what exactly you wanted to ask? Whether how the setting changed? or How to correct the setting?

  • Process chain developement doubt

    Hi,
I am developeing small process chain for loading master data(Delta).
I have already done innitial load of master data in infoobject, now i am developing a process chain to load delta master data. My question is shall i need to use different infopackages than used for initial load OR same infopackages used for initial load can be used for delta load process chain of master data.
    please reply.

    Hi,
Best practice is to use different infopackages.
But the same InfoPackages can also be uesd in the Process Chain. No harm.

  • Error while Activating a process chain

    Hi,
I have just modified the existing process chain with the new info package for loading into ODS and then delta update into the Info Cube.
when i am clicking on the option schedule and activate.
    Its giving error as :
    "InfoPackage ZPAK_49RJW545FSO2MB3NF1MIZ9NJ9 is
generated; NOT able to be used as loading variant"
This is a IP, which is used for delta update from ODS to cube.
I have checked the IP, its fine like i can do the delta through this pacakge manually.
Please help, points will be rewarded....

    Dear himanshu arora  ,
Go and check whether the Info Package exist ,
You can check in Rsa1 and give IP name and find it.
If your IP is not there please create it,
If tehre please check the all parameter associated with it.

  • Regarding "Delete Index" process in the process chain.

    Hi Gurus
In the process chain, I have Delete Index -> Load Info pacakge -> Create Index process in the above order.
I am loading few records, so no need to delete indexes everytime. Can i remove the "Delete Index" process from the Chain without deleting the Create Index process. Or do I have to delete both.
Could you please clarify my doubt if possible in detail.
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    aarthi

With the numbers you provided, you probably don't need to have the steps.  With Oracle (not sure about all the other DB flavors) there are some other considerations:
Not having the indexes when loading the data can improve the load time since the bitmap indexes are not very efficient with respect to inserts/updates. The more dimensions you have, the more indexes there will be and the more noticable the impact of having the indexes present when loading.
The drop index process only drops the F fact table indexes.  If you compress your cubes regularly so that you don't have many uncompressed requests, the index rebuild time will remain small, but if you have many uncompressed requests in your cube, the index rebuild time can begin to exceed whatever time you might save on the load with indexes deleted.
With bitmap indexes present, you can also occasionally receive a ORA-0600 deadlock error during the load process, and that can be prevented by dropping the indexes before loading or chose the load option packet by packet so that two packets are not trying to update the same index block at the same time.
Another concern in shops where reporting on the cube might occur during the load process - if you drop indexes prior to a load, any one trying to run a query on teh cube could have poor query performance since all the indexes will be missing onthe F fact table, this agina becomes more apparent the more data you have in the uncompressed fact table.
So it really comes down to your environment, but certainly drop the indexes any time you have large loads.

  • Long running process chains - No Dump / error message.

    Hello,
We have defined some steps in process chain that contains default macros. We mainly included that to ensure calculations happens even when users dont open or access the DP Planning book.
Issue is, these steps are running endless. normally it takes some 400 n odd seconds. But its running for the last 60000 secs.
No. of Planning objects or CVC is 2027 only. I had to cancel them and tried to re run this step or the whole chain no luck....
I have checked active jobs in SM37, there is none. So ideally there is no load on the system. Also no change to Macro or CVC's has been done. there was only one Transport that was moved and it was on the product master.
Also I have done the time series, Live cache, PA  Consistency checks. only in Live Cache there was some Superflous time series and it was corrected.
I am not getting a clue of why its happening nor where to start the analsysis.
Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated.
Currently I have made the subsequent events as independent,&  the chain is running execpting this step.
    Many Thanks
    Aswath Ram.

    Thanks for the reply,
These are custom macros. It adds two KF and copies to another.
The no. of periods is 24 time periods and roughly no. of CVC is 2100.
Another thing, this process chain has been running for last 5 to 6 months with no issues. Since sunday, its messing up....
I am doubting if its taking time read data from table or live cache. or is it because of some indexing. Not sure how to check that.
have asked Basis to check the system performance, if it might cause this issue.
    Many Thanks
    Aswath

  • How to create event based process chains

    Hi All,
I would like to know about event based process chains. In connection to this, could you please answer the following queries,
    1. How to create events
    2. How to link created event to the process chain in the same BI or BW system and as well as from
        externel BI system.
    3. How link one process chain with other process chain (i.e, After completion of one process chain, it
should trigger other dependent process chain)
    Thanks and Regards,
    Kotesh.

    1). Doubt regarding first question.
For example, i would like to create time based event (it should be trigger daily at specified time),
where we have to maintain scheduling options while creating event.
When i checked SM62 there i found only two options a). Event name and b). Description.
Could please send any doucument link if you have.
Ans : You can use function modules like "BP_EVENT_RAISE" in a program and schedule the program to trigger.
2). For externel BIW system also same procedure we need to follow or any difference.
Ans : Externally you need to trigger the same event.
3). i found dependent process chain also had scheduling options as direct scheduling insted of start using meta chain or API. As you said dependent process chain should be mata chain. it seems dependent process chain may be Meta chain or Direct scheduilg.
Ans : Its your choice how you want to schedule it.You can either make that dependent chain a metachain or schedule it separately.
I found at the end of first process chain they kept one process like Raise event and second process chain connected with the help of raise event process event name. If you have any idea about this process could explain a bit more.
Ans : May be they are raising the event in the main chain and triggering the dependent chain using this event.
But Metachain is preferred for such thing.Though it does similar thing.
    Hope this helps.

  • Process Chain error while creating index on cube

    Hi All,
I have two process chain P1 daily(except sunday) and P2 weekly(sunday), both have same process, i.e. cube C1 is loaded with same infopackage in both infopackage.
Now, on saturday after laoding the content index creating process on cube c1 is failed by process chain P1, but on sunday P2 have laoded C1 correctly and created indexes.
Now, my doubt is wheather i repeat process chain P1 from creating indexes or there is no need as indexes on cube are created by PC 2.
    kindly suggest,
    Regards,
    Rajvinder

    Hi Raj,
There is no need of running the process chain P1, the data has been bought by the process chain P2.
If there are any filters/data selection in infopackage level then you need to run the process chain P1.
Be make sure about the process chains and there infopackages/dtp's.
    With Regards,
    Ravi Kanth

  • Process chain

    Hi Experts,
I have created one process chain for uploading the data to the data store object.
While activating this process chain, I am getting following error "Process LOADING has no predecessor"
    Process LOADING has no predecessor
    Message no. RSPC021
    Diagnosis
Process LOADING has no process preceding it.
Only the start process is scheduled without any preceding processes in the process chain.
    System Response
The system is unable to activate the process chain.
    Procedure
Schedule the process so that it succeeds another process in the chain.
    with regards!
    ramesh

    Hi,
step 4: From load process and post-processing i drag and drop the execute infopackage
    from LHS to RHS .
when i do it so even the DTP info package is being transferred along with the DSO activation.
when i save and activate the process chain, the infopackage of the PSA turns red and it says the error
process has no predecessor. But i have the start process in the first step.
When you go for Step 4 automatically DTP info package is being transferred along with the DSO activation...remove them from there....Pull Manually DTP and DSO activation Processes and connect them...your process chain will look like:
    Start->Execute Infopackage->Execute DTP--->DSO Activation Process.
    Hope it is clear now....
Let me know in case you have further doubts...
    Thanks,
    Amit Kr.
