Process Chain - Transfering Files to Application Server

Hi guys,
I have been trying to use BW Process Chain to load data from a flat file (CSV) into an InfoCube.
I understand for it to work, the file has to reside on the Application Server, and not the local workstation.
However, can anyone tell me exactly how I can transfer the flat file from my laptop into the Application Server?

The link is a nice introduction. But I'm still facing some issues. Here's a simple scenario:
I try to upload a file from the path "C:\BW_CSV\Month.csv". I go to transaction FILE and did the following settings.
1. Logical file path definition:
    a.   Created a new entry called "ZBW_CSV"
2. Assignments of physical path:
    a.   Syntax Group: Windows NT
    b.
Leopard01\BW_CSV\<FILENAME>
Note: Leopard01 is the server name.
3. Logical file name definition:
    a.   Created a new entry called "ZBW_CSV"
    b.   Physical file: Month.csv
    c.   Data format: BIN
    d.   Application area: BW
    e.   Logical path: ZBW_CSV
After all this, when I try to preview the file from the infopackage, I still get an error message -- "Error 8 when compiling the upload program".
I wonder what settings are not properly configured. Please advise.

Urgent : Download file from Application Server via Process Chain.

Hi Experts,
My requirement is to download the file from Application Server to local work station using an ABAP Program .
I want including the above ABAP program in a process chain to execute the program daily,
I tried to use ARCHIVFILE_SERVER_TO_CLIENT and GUI_DOWNLOAD but unfortunately both the above FM doesn't support to run through Process chain.
Can any one of you help me to send the code which selects a file from application server, downloads to local system and deletes it.

Regarding your case ..
I suggest you to create the program where it run this function: WS_DOWNLOAD.
After it, the program is run by your process chain.

Transfering data from bsis table to file on application server

In my program iam selecting data from bsis table and transferring to file on the application server.
Code:
Tables: BSIS.
data: file type rlgrap-filename.
Select * from BSIS into BSIS.
Open dataset output in text mode encoding default.
Transfer bsis to file.
closesdataset.
1, Issue when transferring iam getting dump due to type conflict.
2, Here I cant create a structure like bsis and define type c
    varialbles as its an upgrade project.
3, I tried field-symbols using type casting but data in the
    application server is showing junk data with ##### in currncy
    fields.
4, In earlier program there is no internal table defined for bsis,
    Directly passing to work area and transferring to file on
    application server.
Please let me know any feasble solution to approach.
If need i can post the complete code.

Here is my code....in ECC. While executing program is going to dump saying character type error.
tables: bsis.

when i try to execute process chain the DTP it is giving below dump. Exception CX_RSBK_REQUEST_LOCKED logged.
when i execute the DTP manually and trying to delete the previous request, it is giving for dump ITAB_DUPLICATE_KEY.
so to delete the generated file from application server, how to delete it for specific dates?

The main program was "RSBATCH_EXECUTE_PROZESS ".
In the source code you have the termination point in line 2874
of the (Include) program "GPD6S3OE0BCVGC6L9DBNVYQARZM".
The program "GPD6S3OE0BCVGC6L9DBNVYQARZM" was started as a background job.
and when i check the dump it is point out at below code

In the global section

Open hub error when generating file in application server

Hi, everyone.
I'm trying to execute an open hub destination that save the result as a file in the application server.
The issue is: in production environment we have two application servers, XYZ is the database server, and A01 is the application server. When I direct the open hub to save file in A01 all is working fine. But when I change to save to XYZ I´m getting the following error:

Message detail: Could not open file "path and file" on application server
Message no. RSBO214
When I use transaction AL11, I can see the file there in XYZ filesystem (with data and time correspondent to execution), but I can´t view the content and size looks like be zero.
Possible causes I already checked: authorization, disk space, SM21 logs.
We are in SAP BW 7.31 support package 6.
Any idea what could be the issue or where to look better?

Hi, there.
Posting the resolution for this issue.
SAP support give directions that solved the problem. No matter in which server (XYZ or A01) I logon or start a process chains, the DTP job always runs in A01 server, and it causes an error since the directory doesn´t exist in server XYZ.
This occurs because DTP settings for background job was left blank. I follows these steps to solve the problem:
- open DTP
- go to "Settings for Batch Manager"
- in "Server/Host/Group on Which Additional Processes Should Run" I picked the desired server
- save
After that, no matter from where I start the open hub extraction, it always runs in specified server and saves the file accordingly.

InfoSpoke fails with message "Could not open file on application server"

BW Experts,
I created an InfoSpoke that is configured to extract to a flat file. The name of the file is specified using a logical filename. During extraction, the infospoke reports the error message "Could not open file on application server" adnd marks the extraction process as red(failed). I have tried to run the InfoSpoke in background mode and in dialog mode and the same error appears. After i run in dialog mode, i checked SU53 for authorization errors and did not find any. I also tried changing the Logical filename setup in transaction FILE to a more "friendly" directory in which i'm sure i have authorizations (e.g. my UNIX home directory) and im still getting errors.
Can you please share your thoughts on this? Any help will greatly appreciated. I also promise to award points.

Thanks for helping out.
If i configure the InfoSpoke to download to a file using "File Name" option and also check the "Application server" checkbox, the extract works correctly (extraction to the defualt SAP path and filename=infospoke name). If i configure the InfoSpoke to download to the local workstation, the InfoSpoke also works correctly. It's only when i configure it to download to the application server and use the "Logical filename" option, that i encounter a failed extract.
Here are the messages is the Open Hub Monitor:

Hi ,
In ECC 6 if all the unicode patches are applied then UTF 16 will defintly work..
More over i would suggest you to ist replace # with some other * or , and then try to see in debugging if any further # appears..
and no # appears then try to split now.
if even now the # appears after replace statement then try to find out what exactly is it... wheather it is a horizantal tab etc....
and then again try to replace it and then split..
Please follow the process untill all the # are replaced...
This should work for you..

Problem in uploading file from Application Server

i got a problem in uplaoding a file from application server.i am having two folder (one folder name is current and another one is processed)in application server. In current folder i am having N no of files.I want to upload all the files names into one internal table and i want to process one by one file.After processing each file the file should be moved to processed folder and the files should not exist in current folder.All these process must be done everyday.Please rectify my problem asap.

How to store file in Application server.

Hi all,
I have done a report where using excel sheet data i hv to insert in ztable. I have done it i hav converted excel sheet data into internal table and then inserted into ztable. It is working properly. using p_file like rlgraph-filename i have taken the parameter and function module filename_f4 uploaed file.
Now i when i am runing the report it is inserting properly in foreground. But i have requirement that i have to run the report in background but it is giving error in background. So what i do is the excel sheet which i take as input should be stored in Application server and then i have to pick up the file from application server during the background process. So any body can tell me how to write the program to store file in application server and pickup that file again to run it in background.

Infopackage-Load Many Files from Application Server and later Archive/Move

I have a doubt,   I have a requirement of take many files to load into BI 7.0.. I used the infopackage before with option:
Load Binary File From Application server
I load information successfully... only with one file ...but If I can load many files (with different names) like the next list.. I think it's not a good idea modify the file name (path) on infopackage each time).. :
*All of this files will be on one server that itu2019s map into AL11.. Like

BW_LOAD_20090125.txt
BW_LOAD_OTHER_1.txt

Etc..
This directory it's not in BW server.. It's other server..but I can load form this location (one file by one)
Could you help me with this questions:
-     How can I Use an infopackage with routine that take all the files..one by oneu2026 in order of creation dateu2026and load into Target? Is it possible?.. I have some knowledge of ABAP.. but I don´t know exactly how I can say to system this logicu2026
-     In addition is it possible move this files to other locationu2026 like into Infopfwarchive u2026 just to have an history of files loaded.
I saw that in infopackage you have an option to create a routine.. in ABAP codeu2026 Iu2019m a little bit confused because I donu2019t know how I can specify all the path..
I try with:

This is the abap code that automatically you see and you need to modifyu2026
Create a routine for file name
This routine will be called by the adapter,
when the infopackage is executed.
          p_filename =
          p_subrc = 0.

I have some doubuts.. when you explain me the option:
All the above files are appending dates at the end of the file....
You can load the files through infopackage by using Routines and pick the files based on date at the end of the file..***
I need to ask you if you think that when you know the date of the file and the infopackage pick each file... thi can work for many files??... or how it's possible control this process?
About this option, I want to ask you If when you menction Unix code... where it's programed this code?.. in the routine of BW Infopackage??

Create two folders in your BW in Application server level, in AL11 (ask Basis team)
I call it is F1 and F2 folders.
First dump the files into F1 I assume that the file name in F1 is "BW_LOAD_20090120.txt", using Unix code you rename the file and then keep in the same foleder F1 or move to F2.
Then create InfoPackage and fix the file name (i.e. you renamed), so you don't need to change everyday your file name at infopackage level.Because in AL11 everyday the file are overwrite.
To I get BW_LOAD_20090120.txt file in F1, then I renamed to BW_LOAD.txt and loaded into BW, then tomorrow I get BW_LOAD_20090125.txt in F1, then I renamed to BW_LOAD.txt....
so in this way it will work.You need to schedule the Ubix script in AL11.
This is the way how to handle the application server...I'm using the same logic.
