Process chains to allow parameter to be entered.

Hi All,
I am new to process chains. How to create a process chains where "PROCESS CHAIN NEEDS TO ALLOW A PARAMETER TO BE ENTERED - DATE(same as in report)" in 3.5v. Parameters to be entered in process chains, Please provide detailed steps to create.
Thanks,
Jaswantha

Hi,
Process chain triggers with the help of variables, events etc... you need to create a variant for each process. For example to trigger an process chain you need to create an start variant where you can mention the date and time to trigger the process chain.
This is just an example. Go through with below link to learn it in detail.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/8f/c08b3baaa59649e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
Hope it helps.

  • Implementing a custom process type for a process chain

I have created a custom process type for a process chain that allows a user to send back a failure or error status when calling an ABAP program.  I copied the class that is used from the existing ABAP process type as a template.
The process type works fine, I just cannot find out how to recreate the documentation for my custom type using free text. When you maintain the process type there is a field for the documentation object, but I can't find where in SAP to implement this.
I have tried looking at the document maintenance using SE61 and looking into the class documentation from SE24 with no success.  The only detail that is provided in the SAP help portal is:
"If necessary, assign a documentation type and a docu. object to the process type. The docu object can be called up via F1 in the process chain maintenance overview tree. "
Does anyone out there have any experience with this that can push me in the right direction?
    Thanks,
    Eddie

You can create and maintain system documentation from transaction SE61. This is how you would create documentation for a process type or if you wanted to create a book. <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a4/d47df949e111d189730000e8322d00/frameset.htm">more info</a>
Here are the steps to make your documentation similar to that used for the ABAP process type:
    From transaction SE61:
-Create a document of type TX (either from scratch or by copying RSPC_ABAP which is used for the SAP-delivered ABAP process type)
-Make any changes you need. I suggest downloading the document in ITF format and make the changes in a basic text editor and then uploading your changed document. It's a little easier to tell what is going on that way.
    Now on to transaction RSPC.
Once you save your changes, go to RSPC and select on any chain you have to get into the "plan and check views of process chain maintenance." Then just go to Settings -> Maintain Process Types.
From here you can select your process type, select TX from the document type dropdown, and then enter the name of your document in the docu. object field.
    Hope that helps.

  • Metachain in Process chain is failed

    Hi friends,
yesterday process chain was failed because of some errors.
after correcting i did manual load to all as in the meta chain .
Today process chain was failed because of the same meta chain not even running. there is no process monitor option and displaying messages are said previous job is running still.
So please advice i need to start that meta chain and it should run normally from tomoro...
Please help me in this regard...
    Regards
    Anil

u can proceed with the immediate schedule of that local chain for today and then do as what I have suggested.. this will resolve ur issue..
Meta chain was running fine in  ur case with the Direct Schedulign option.. bcz it might have been with the immediate schedule in the scheduling screen.. .. If that is the case then the Process chain will allow this settings for the Local chains to run as per the sequence..
After todays manual run.. u can deschedule the entire chain once and then reschedule with the proper time details and the periodicity..
    Thanks
Assigning poins is the way to say thanks... If ur issue is resolved then u can close this thread by assigning points..

  • How to do a infocube selective deletion in a process chain ?

    Hi all,
I encounter a little diffculty : I have a process chain that allow me to load daily R/3 datas into a BW/APO infocube, that works perfectly. The problem is that the volume of datas naturally keeps on growing, so I'd want to create a new step in the process chain, that would allow to make selective deletion in the cube.
For example, after every data loading in the infocube, datas of the cube that are dating of more than x days  should be removed. I just can't find a process that allows me to do that, but only"complete deletion of data target contents", or "delete overlapping requests from infocube".
I'm quite sure there's an easy way to do that but.... Anyone go an idea please ?
    Many thanks !
    Fabrice

    Hi Fabrice,
To my knowledge, there is no standard process type in process chian that can do this. You can include a program that can delete the old records. I am sure it is a simple login in it. You can do selective deletion in infocube manually but I wish we have a variant that can be created at this screen and refer in a process type. But at this time, I see only the program as solution.

  • Passing parameter to process chain - logical file name

    Hi,
Is there a way to pass a parameter to a process chain? Iu2019m trying to define logical file name (via transaction FILE) allowing to point on physical files name containing a parameter to be defined at run time. Is it possible?
Example, consider receiving file ending by a number representing its source system origin:
Filename_1      (file coming from syst 1)
Filename_2      (file coming from syst 2)
As both file have the same structure I would like to specify a single datasource Filename_n and a single process chain in which I would set the parameter n at run time. Is there a way to implement that?
I first thought about an Abap routine reading parameter in a table but than Filename_n canu2019t be treated in parallel u2026 Any other idea?
    Cheers,
    Benoit

    Hi Benoit,
yes, it is possible to call the file paths with routine at infopackage.
if you have only 2 file and file names are constant, then you can create 2 infopackages and keep thse two in process chain.
    Start
    I
    infopackage 1
    I
    Infopackage 2
and from applcation sever, these files will be loaded.
if upi have more files, you can write a routine at the selection of file path, in infopackage.

  • Dynamic selection parameter in infopackage included in process chain

    Hello,
I have a process chain that contains three infopackages, they are launched sequently.  All of them have selection parameters calculated based on a parameter ID set in SAP memory by program, with ABAP sentence "SET PARAMETER ID.. ",..so the routine in the package executes a "GET PARAMETER id..." sentence.
The result is that no problem with first infopackage, the value is properly read, but for the other infopackages the value is not recovered from memory.
    Any idea?

  • Process Chain hangs on AND process

    Help Super gurus!
I've tried several versions of a chain that loads multiple InfoPackages serially then multiple DTP in parallel using filtering from the PSA to a DSO. All load successfully. Then I have the DTPs all meet at an 'AND' process before processing should continue to a cube.
The 'AND' process also shows green but it does not continue to the next process step. It just stops there, no more jobs running, no yellow, nothing. It thinks it's all done, everything after that is still blue.
Why does it hang there and what can I do to get it to continue?
    Thanks,
    Al
    Points available.

    Hi,
Not sure what is the root cause in your case.
Try this. It may work. Normally this is done after a step turns red and no repeat is available.
Method 1 (when it fails in a step/request)
    /people/siegfried.szameitat/blog/2006/02/26/restarting-processchains
How is it possible to restart a process chain at a failed step/request?
Sometimes, it doesn't help to just set a request to green status in order to run the process chain from that step on to the end.
You need to set the failed request/step to green in the database as well as you need to raise the event that will force the process chain to run to the end from the next request/step on.
Therefore you need to open the messages of a failed step by right clicking on it and selecting 'display messages'.
In the opened popup click on the tab 'Chain'.
In a parallel session goto transaction se16 for table rspcprocesslog and display the entries with the following selections:
    1. copy the variant from the popup to the variante of table rspcprocesslog
    2. copy the instance from the popup to the instance of table rspcprocesslog
    3. copy the start date from the popup to the batchdate of table rspcprocesslog
Press F8 to display the entries of table rspcprocesslog.
Now open another session and goto transaction se37. Enter RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH as the name of the function module and run the fm in test mode.
Now copy the entries of table rspcprocesslog to the input parameters of the function module like described as follows:
    1. rspcprocesslog-log_id -> i_logid
    2. rspcprocesslog-type -> i_type
    3. rspcprocesslog-variante -> i_variant
    4. rspcprocesslog-instance -> i_instance
    5. enter 'G' for parameter i_state (sets the status to green).
Now press F8 to run the fm.
Now the actual process will be set to green and the following process in the chain will be started and the chain can run to the end.
Of course you can also set the state of a specific step in the chain to any other possible value like 'R' = ended with errors, 'F' = finished, 'X' = cancelled ....
Check out the value help on field rspcprocesslog-state in transaction se16 for the possible values.
    Thanks,

  • Help! about process chain execution status

    hi:
we nearly have one problem about the process chain execution status,
when error occured during  process chian execution, we fixed it in time,
however, even the error repaired, its status still showed yellow, and this
stop the subsequent process to excute.
Any body who can provide some help to solve this problem? thanks in advance

    5. enter 'G' for parameter i_state (sets the status to green).
Now press F8 to run the fm.
Now the actual process will be set to green and the following process in the chain will be started and the chain can run to the end.

  • Report on process chains using SEM-BPS

We are looking to develop a tool to:
    1. Monitor data loads at the process chain level
    2. Within in the same tool, enter error resolution /
action steps for all failed loads
    3. Report out % of successful or failed loads, using the data captured by the tool.
We have studied the BW Tables rspcchain, rspcchainattr, rspclogchain, rspcprocesslog, rspclogs, rseventchain and
    rspcchaint.
We are considering the following options:
    1. Develop an ABAP report and allowing the process chain monitor to manually enter the error resolutions (Perhaps in a Z-Table)
    2. Create an InfoCube in BW using the above tables and then write a query, but we can not allow the user to enter error resolutions in the query.
    3. Create a transactional infocube in SEM-BPS using the above tables and use the input functionality of tansactional infocube to facilitate the error resolution report entry.
Can anyone suggest any alternate solution, or has anyone encountered similar requirement on project?
One more doubt to check: is there any way to create an infoobject with CHAR type to enter data with 1000 or more characters? Or is there any other alternative solution to it? The doubt is to take care of the text entry for the error resolution.
    Milind Vad

    Just some thoughts:
Have you considered using document service in BW or even KM (Portal) technology rather than CHAR 1000+ fields? This would give you more flexibility also on the type of document.
For loading there are monitors available (based on tables like RSMONMESS). If you are interested in loads only (and not other process types), maybe using information from the BW load monitor could be beneficial (like RSMONMESS) rather than the process chain stuff.
Maybe it's even worth having an InfoObjekt with a resolution code that links to a document describing the resolution with a key and whenever there is a new solution available create a new key with a new document. That would be most beneficial for reporting (like how many times has this problem / resolution occurred and the like).

  • Process chain executed synchronously produces dump and hangs

Process chain (RSPC) being executed synchronously hangs on a step (not first) with yellow status. Analysis of ST22 shows there is dump: RAISE_EXCEPTION
The chain loads data from flat files on frontend to several characteristics (attributes and texts). All the steps are sequential.
After the start first file is loaded successfully (info package), subsequent data transfer process has no errors too. But the second info package becomes yellow and hangs just after ( after some time timeout occurs and the step becomes red). In ST22 i see dump, text of the dump is below. Analysis of the dump reveals that 'GUI_UPLOAD' FM doesn't work during execution of the second info-package.
    The chain looks as follows:
    1. Info package 1
          V
    2. Data transfer process 1
          V
    3. Info package 2              <-------   hangs here because of dump

If i load the step manually it works. The hung step is possible to re-execute after it gets red (with context menu) and it works then. After that it hangs on the 3rd info-package and so on.
The file lays on a network drive, but i suspect it doesn't matter

  • Process chain problem...., its urgent

    Hi all
in my process chain we are loading 4 loads into ODS. After 3 loads, 4th load didn't take place. its not yet started even 3rd one successfully ran. its not showing error also. what can i do. after 4th one ODS activation process is there.
Please advice me. will i go for manual loading. if i do manual, what abt activation after 4th load. will i do activation also manual or else it will trigger automatically as part of process chain........../
    Advice me frnds..., its urgent
    Regards
    swetha

    Hi Swetha,
Sometimes, it doesn't help to just set a request to green status in order to run the process chain from that step on to the end.
    1. rspcprocesslog-log_id -> i_logid
    2. rspcprocesslog-type -> i_type
    3. rspcprocesslog-variante -> i_variant
    4. rspcprocesslog-instance -> i_instance
    5. enter 'G' for parameter i_state (sets the status to green).
Try this solution with your 3rd ODS..hope this will solve your problem for this instance. This is just a workaround.
Before next scheduel of the process chain..remove the link between 3rd ODS and 4th ODS and then reconnect once again and activate the process chain and schedule it as per your schedule cycle. From next upload onwards everything works fine.
Assign points if it is helpful.

  • PSA to Multiple Data Targets in process chain

    Hello All,
I am trying to create a process chain that loads data from an already loaded PSA to further targets. (Note that the infopackage to load from R/3 to PSA is in another process chain). I am using the "Read PSA and Update Data Target" process type. But it allows only one data target. I need to push the data to all the targets of that infosource. Do I have to put a process for each target? Or is there a work around? Please help.
    Thank you,
    Rinni.

    Hi Hemant,
Thank you for your detailed answer. I know that it is mostly not practical to have the InfoPackage and "Read from PSA" package in different local chains. However I am facing a situation where I need to create a chain that just extracts all the data from R/3 and loads it till PSA in BW (This is very time critical, so we do not wish to put any other processing in this chain). And in the second chain, we want to put further processing steps within BW. That is the reason, loading from PSA to ODS needs to be in a separate chain.
Another thing is the variant does have a field to enter Data Target, and that shows only the targets of InfoPackage, but allows me to select only one. However, I will go ahead and try with the Infopkg entry as you suggested.
But if you could just elaborate on why you said, I CANNOT have PSA to Targets in a separate chain, I would really appreciate it!
    Thanks again,
    it was a big help!!

  • Parallel processing in process chain

    Hi All,
In 3.X i created a process chain. after dso we get activate data store object data. In that i went and activated parellel processing.
How do i delete  the parallel processing (how do i disable that) .
    Thanks in advance.

Go to t-code RSODSO_SETTINGS, then enter your DSO name and change. At maintenance of runtime parameter screen, at the "Parameter for Activation" section, click Change Process Param. Then change the number of processes value.
If the value is 1, it should state Serial Processing.
If the value is more than 1, it should state Parallel Processing.
Modify the value, save. And reenter the "Change Process Param" to see the changes.
