Process Industry - Quantity Conversion

Dear All,
Scenario : We are creating a liquid form of material through process order say 1000 kg. The value is Rs 1000.  When the same material is used as a semifinished goods for other product the quantity produced in liquid form will be converted to solid form for costing purpsoe say 500 kgs(500 is liquid portion and 500 is solid portion). The consumpution issue will happen for 1000 kgs but from costing point of view the cost should be consider only for the solid content say 500 kgs at value 1000 Rs. How to map this scenario in SAP
Regards
Vasantha

Hi
You can have alternate unit of measurement which can be done from MM. You can do it in Material master in the Addition Data Tab, you would find alternate unit of measure & Conversion tabs, where you can say 1kg=X ltrs. You can give the prices in Purchase order, Info Record etc., in Ltrs also.
But for Costing purposes, there would never be any alternate unit of measurement to the best of my knowledge.

  • Quantity Conversion Error in Net Price Calculation

We are currently using SRM 5.0 ECS where we created a material PO and had a problem with the product not having the language E maintain in the material master. This caused the PO to have status of "error in process"  Once we fixed this issue and tried to reprocess the PO we're not getting the following error message in the Application Monitor:
No Instance of Object type PurchaseOrder has been created. External Reference
Puchase Order still contains faulty Items
Quantity Conversion Error in Net Price Calculation
Has anyone seen this or know what we can do to resolve this so that the PO gets replicated in R3?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Robert,
Regarding this backend error E 212 06 Quantity conversion error in net
    price calculation.
This error is because in the PO Order price unit is empty. And
quantity is null. So, please enter the quantity and order price unit
for this PO and order the PO again. Or you can retransfer the
PO manually using the FM BBP_PD_PO_TRANSFER_EXEC. (for this fm you need
to input the PO header guid, which you will get it from tx.BBP_PD
by providing PO number and object type as BUS2201).
This has worked for other customers.
    Hope this helps,
    Kind Regards,

  • Process Industry- How to map the Scenario?

    Dear Gurus,
The is a Process Industry, Chemical Manufacturing Unit, which does the following sequence of Operation to get the Semi finished material.
    1) Acid, TC, and Catalyst are 3 Raw materials
    2) Acid, TC and catalyst after being put into reactors, they Undergo 2 Phases. Crude and Distillation
At crude phase, Crude is Produced. But they dont want to do confirmation of crude.
At Distillation stage, Main Fraction(MF), a semi-finsihed material is Produced
But at the distillation Phase, 2 more, Products are produced in conjugation to MF.
These 2 Products are Lower Fraction(LF) and Residue.
When these LF and Residue are produced, they again put into reactor and some qty of TC is added to achieve MF which again produces some portion of LF and Residue. And these cycle goes on.
    They keep these process continuing.
In short: MF is derived in 2 ways
    Acid+TC+ Catalyst=MF
    LF+Residue+TC=MF
Please help me in mapping below Points comprehensively.( They want one Order Type for 2 phases.)
    1) How BOM will be made of LF and residue if I treat them as Co-Product??? Or some other technique in SAP can map it?
    2) What is the Step by step Costing configuration of Co-Products. I searched lot but unable to find the proper settlement rule of Co-Products.
    Thanks
    Shailesh Mishra

    Dear Rahul,
As I understand that Co-Products cannot be subjected to movt type 261 and same i have tested in system. So, concept of Co-Product is not applicable here either with Recursive BOM application.
The solution which we have found here is that Client will make one of BOM of Acid+TC+ Catalyst
which will give MF. The concept of Reverse Calculation will be applied. Daily product of LF and Residue will be extrapolated at the Month end. And the LF and residue Quantity will be tracked not from system. Only during month end, LF and Residue Physical Inventory will be taken and it will be treated as Raw materials So, in the Running Process Order 262 will be done of So-called LF and residue. Stock Up(+)
And same Qty of LF and residue will be subjected to 261(Stock Down-) in the next month New Order in form of Raw material.
So cycle of 261 and 262 of LF and residue in form of Raw materials will be Perpetual and settlement of orders will also be sacrosanct.
    Best regards
    Shailesh

  • Process industry parameters

    hello friends
I am going to implement in continuous process industry. Here liquid raw material passes through different stages having different process parameters . When material is in process, we have to check the parameters such as temp.,PH,liquid flow , etc. of that material at various stages.According to that values operator decides how much quantity of chemical should be added .
I want to display that parameter values in system so that it becomes easy to monitor whole procees. In SAP if it is possible to disply external values automatically ? How to do it?
In PP-PI where i can map this process?
    please help me,
    thanks!

    Hi Kiran,
You can do it with help of PI Sheet.
Find the below link to understand the functionality of PI Sheet.

  • Quantity Conversion in BI 7

    Hi All,
I have followed the documentation to do a quantity conversion from BT (Bottle) to TO in BI 7. Since they are not in the same dimension, I therefore have determined type 4 : Use T006 if available, otherwise, use reference InfoObject. I have referred to InfoObject 0MATERIAL, inside it I have determined the base unit of measure and generate a system DSO to store the conversion factor information.
But during my data transfer process, I keep hitting on error :
No quantity conversion possible     RSUOM     65.
    Can anyone please help. Thanks.

    Dear Handoko,
I have struggled with the same issue of unit conversion. Unfortunately for both of us, unit conversion across dimensions is NOT possible.
However, there is a work around for this. You will have to find out from your functional consultants how much does 1 bottle weigh. Then in the transformations you can use this to do the unit conversion.
    Regards,
    Prem.

  • Pricing in Process industry

    Dear All,
In our scenario for Job work in textile processing industry we need to maintain the price (PR00). This price normally maintained is Rs.7.25/mtr and Rs.60/kg, therefore conversion relation is (1mtr = 120 g), hence the average weight required is 120g.
There are two scenarios for example:-
Normally if the average weight is 120 g then the customer is charged by 7.25 / mtr. If the average weight changes then,
    1.     Now if the dispatch material is 1mtr =140 g the billing will be on Kg basis which is approx
                    Rs.8.40 / Mtr.
    2.     Now if the dispatch material is 1mtr = 110 g the billing will be 7.25 /mtr.
How to MAP this in SAP pricing.
    RamananPV

    Dear PV,
Create Master dta for the three materials like this.
    1.Material 1Average weight 120g
    2.Material 2 1mtr=140g
    3.Material 3 1mtr=110g
Take sales unit as mtr (M)
Maitain the price for the above materials based on the Unit meter (M) inthe transaction VK11 with the key combination Materail.
According to that if you enter Material 1 in the sales order as 100 mtrs it will pick up the price relating to that from the condition record which is belongs to the Material 1
I hope it will help you
    Regards,
    Murali.

  • Difference Between Production Industry & Process Industry

    Hi Freinds,
Hi have a query. What is the major difference between Production Industry & Process Industry?
I will give you a following example. Please carefully read it.
Take a example of TATA Motors. We all know it produces automobiles. So we will consider it as a Production Industry. But at the same time it uses the Paint to paint the vehicles is produced by it only. So can we call it as a Process Industry? If yes please explain it.
I will award deserving points accordingly for every reply.
    Thanks & Regards
    Saeed Arif

production:- conversion / processing the raw materials to finished products.
    differen type of industry:
job type of industry:- this is of mainly MAKE TO ORDER TYPE , suiting the particular customer requirments , after getting the order only you start doing the production
eg:- Turbine mfg by BHEL, Aircrafts and ship buildings etc.
so here your planning and costs change one order.
Repetative mfg or Batch tpe production: here the products wll be made in batches as lots eg 2000no or 5000nos qty as batches ,
here the planning and costing etc will differ from one batches to another.
eg: Automobile , apperal industry. this can be produced by strategies MAKE TO STOCK or by MAKE TO ORDER,
PROCESS INDUSTRY OR CONTINOUS TYPE OF PRODUCTIONS:
in this type of industry the Process remains same (constant) and procucts may with slight variation in composition,  in this type of industy almost every thing is mechanised . this type of indstry will have LINE LAY OUT/PRODUCT LAYOUT
ie at one entry all the materials go in one line and processed and at the end of the line you will be getting finished products. the complete line will be controlled by automated sensors by using sopostigated sensors. the only problem here is that in LINE  if one macine /station is have break down the complete production will comes to halt as one machine/station output is going to be input for oher staion/machine.
eg: cement, paints , food and beverages etc.
you can seggregate indstry type by materials or by the type of layout(ie mfg line)
so now coming to your doubt : TATA - AUTOMOBILES following hybrid type of laty out  ie mfg of automobiles is functional  layout , where there is flexibilty of planning , from paint sections on wards it follows line layout  ..
so you have to call it is as product industry , intern which have line layout for cetain operations , which pertains  to  process industry...

  • Increase the number of portions in process for each conversion object

    I experts,
I configured SAP TDMS 3.0 with SP 14 to transfer test data from QAS to DEV (both is ECC 6.0) for the first test with TDMS TIM (Time Based Reduction).
The data transfer phase is still running (99% - 60hs running). We analyzed the Display Runtime Information report and see that objects of conversion with similar calc. records and calc. GBytes have very different the Net Runtime.
TMDS currently is working with four objects of conversion, processing a portion of each.
Conversion objects that are running are:
    - Z_LTBP_002
    - Z_TSEGE_002
    - Z_VEVW_002
    - Z_YST27_002
We check in the receiver system, and we see that is use only one DIA process to update the each table.
How can increase the performance of the update? Is correct that use only 1 DIA process for this??
Can I increase the number of portions in process for each conversion object?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • ME21N--Quantity conversion error in net price calculation

    Hi MM experts,
Issue: while creating PO, when attempting to add the net price for line item. but system removes the cost and gives the follow error message says "Quantity conversion error in net price calculation".
The system was not able to convert the order unit into the purchase order price unit. Possible reasons:
    i) the conversion results in a net price that is too high, or
ii) the conversion factor for the units has not been properly maintained.
iii) Check whether the units of measure and their conversion factor are correct.
    I have checked material master>unit of measure> 1 PL = 22 KG maintained.
Can you please tell me how to resolve this issue?
    Appreciated early response.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Suresh,

  • Quantity conversion error in net price calculation in BAPI_PO_CREATE1

I'm creating PO from BAPI_PO_CREATE1 .here i'm getting follwing error
quantity conversion error in net price calculation.
plz guide me to remove it.

Are you using quantities directly entered by the user while calling the function to do the net price calculation? If that is the case, you should use FM CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT to convert the quantity from the external format into the internal one!
Another possibility is that some customizing is missing for converting quantities in different unit of measures (like the quantity in pieces is known, but the pricing calculation is being done on kilos.. but the convertion between these 2 unit of measures is missing).
    Good luck!

  • Query Designer : Quantity Conversion as per UOM

    Hi gurus,
I am facing a typical situation here. I have Product Quantity data that I fetch from R3, This has diff UOM based on different product. I know the conversion factor. I have not included the conversion factor in the transformation while loading the data. Hence in the cube, the data is loaded without any conversion.
Now, in my query, I want that the Quantity data be displayed always in say BOX (Whether at aggregate level, ex. Sales Office level or at a more granular level (product brand level)) it should always be in BOX. Can I make such a modification in my query so that the end result for quantity should always be in BOX.
    thanks n regards,
    Sree

    Hi Sree,
You can set unit conversion for relevant key figures in the Query Designer.
For that, you need to create a quantity conversion type first.
For a BW7.x system, use transaction RSUOM to maintain quantity conversion type.
It could be defined like this:
    Source unit: from data record
    Target unit: fixed: BOX
    Hope this helps.

    Patricia

    hi
QM in process industry can have a significant difference from Normal Automobile or Production system.
    It can be
1.Batch manegment can  form significant part of Process Industry.
2.Recurring inspection is also  huge part of Process Industry
3.Inspection points along with sample drawing procedure in Inspection planning can be used in process industry.
4.Shelf life material as you mensioned is significant.-->stability study
5.Instead of Production orders Process order are used in Process industry.
These are more or less can be observed in any process industry.
