Process.Start - getting different output when running command using this method than I am if I run same command in CMD prompt

Hi
Creating an application to analyze .dmp files - all working well except this odd issue
If I open command prompt and enter this command:-
kd -z C:\Windows\MiniDump\042414-24632-01.dmp -c "!analyze -v"
Then it works and shows me all the output I need (shown at bottom of post)
If I run same command in VB.net using following code - then it doesn't give the same output - the bits I need at the end created by the !analyze -v switch don't appear
Any ideas why it is not seeing the switch correctly - setting a breakpoint and checking contents of startinfo seems to be showing correct cmd line i.e. "kd -z C:\windows\minidump\042414-24632-01.dmp -c "!analyze –v;q""
Dim myprocess As New Process()
myprocess.StartInfo.FileName = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Debuggers\x86\kd"
myprocess.StartInfo.Arguments = "-z C:\windows\minidump\042414-24632-01.dmp -c ""!analyze –v;q"""
myprocess.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = False
myprocess.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = True
myprocess.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = True
myprocess.Start()
TextBox1.AppendText(myprocess.StandardOutput.ReadToEnd())
Output when run from cmd prompt:-
C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Debuggers\x86>kd -z C:\Windows\MiniDump\042414-24632-01.dmp -c "!analyze -v;q"

Try it by opening the Cmd prompt as the actual process and passing the Filename and its arguments as the arguments of the Cmd process.  If you notice there is a "-C" before the Filename and Arguments in this example.  The "-C"
tells the cmd to execute the commands and then close itself.  You can also use a "-K" which tells the cmd to execute the commands and keep itself open.  Being you are not showing the cmd window you don`t want to keep it opened because the
user can`t close it so, that is why i used "-C".
 I don`t have the program so, you can just experiment to see what it does.  Maybe you should try using "-K" and show the cmd window by commenting out the CreateNoWindow line so you can see what is in the cmd window while testing.

  • Not getting any output when running the Webservice through Xacute

    hai all,
    I am using a transaction as web service to be called in another transaction in the same server. I can see the output of the web service in the tracer, when I execute it in the BLS. But if I run the same transaction via xacute query I am not getting any output. I had read in one of the threads that reference document has to be assigned. I tried doing that also, but no luck. Can somebody pls. throw some light on how to use reference document & whether it is required in my case?
    Thanks,
    vidhya

    Hai Rick,
                    thanks for the hint i have used document and row actions now iam gettting output through xacute...
    thanks,
    vidhya.

  • Why Do I get different result when Run as Admin to Standard?

    Why when Running this script to copy from the "config64" folder (if files exist)(if not copy from "config32")  if works correctly when running  Batch file normally (copies the config64), but using the exact same line when running
    the Batch file as "Run as Administrator" it doesn't work correctly (copies the config32, even though Files do exist config64 folder as they did when I ran it normally and it worked)
    >nul 2>nul dir /a-d "Folder\config64\*" /s && (XCOPY "%~dp0Folder\config64\File64.ini" "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\CompanyFolder\ProductFolder\" /y /d) || (XCOPY "%~dp0Folder\config32\File32.ini" "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\CompanyFolder\ProductFolder\" /y /d)
    UAC is turned off and I'm the administrator (only user on a standalone PC) running windows 8.1.
    Is there a reason or it is a strange bug with Windows 8.1?

    A LOT  more intellectual than
    Frederik Long Who just had no clue himself to not offer an answer. As I've only been looking at this for 2 weeks I think I've come far and you help is much appreciated. Thank you JRV!
    You seem to miss the point. Assuming that your problem is caused by a bug can prevent you from finding the real cause. If you had dismissed the bug theory then you might have done some real debugging, e.g. by breaking up your single-line script (which is
    hard to comprehend) into easily digestible pieces and adding some debugging code like so:
    @echo off
    set Target="%ProgramFiles(x86)%\ComapanyFolder\ProductFolder\"
    dir /a-d "Folder\config64\*" /s 1>c:\Test.log 2>&1
    if %ErrorLevel% EQU 0 (
    XCOPY "%~dp0Folder\config64\File64.ini" %Target% /y /d /s 1>>c:\Test.log 2>>&1
    ) else (
    XCOPY "%~dp0Folder\config32\File32.ini" %Target% /y /d /s 1>>c:\Test.log 2>>&1
    The log file would have told you quickly what is going on. Furthermore - why should I offer my own solution to your problem when JRV gave you a perfect answer straight away?

    Hi,
    did you check which servers has FSMO roles?
    You can do that via command prompt: netdom query fsmo
    For forestprep you must do that on DC which have Schema Operations marter role.
    Command
    Domain controller
    Number of times to run the command
    adprep /forestprep
    Must be run on the schema operations master for the forest.
    Once for the entire forest
    adprep /domainprep
    Must be run on the infrastructure operations master for the domain.
    Once in each domain where you plan to install an additional domain controller that runs a later version of Windows Server than the latest version that is running in the domain.
    Note
    Domains where you will not add a new domain controller will be affected by adprep /forestprep, but they do not require you to run adprep /domainprep.

  • Getting different result while running Dashboard SP Using Temporary table?

    Hi Experts
    I am getting different result when I run my dashboard procedure I am using temporary table with "ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS", below is the information
    I am running my attendance dashboard procedure which will display the employee attendance status based IN and OUT punches the status like AA-full day absent, GG-Full day Present, AG-First half absent,GA-Second half absent. Now when I run the first time my procedure for first time I am getting status AA even though IN and OUT timings are correct and if run it again then it is displaying the status for same employee as GG
    I didn't understand the problem where it is effecting the status

    ChakravarthyDBA wrote:
    It is procedure which will display the employee status, back end I am storing the procedure result in Temporary table with "ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS", when I run the procedure first time it is showing wrong information when I run it again second time then it is showing correct information. I don't know why the status is changing.
    first time employee status is AA --Full day absent and Second time is GG--Full day present (in both cases IN and OUT timings are correct only)
    is it effecting due to temporary table?
    So, you have a GTT and you're doing "something" with it and that "something" isn't what you expect.
    I've about summed up what you've posted and given us to work with. If you have specific examples please do share. Without them we're going to be of very little use to you.
    If you aren't getting the results you expect, it stands to reason that
    1) you don't understand the outputs you are supposed to be getting
    2) you have a bug in the code developed
    Please stop and think about this, pretend you are the one trying to help out. You've been given little to no information about a system you've never seen before. You need to explain your situation as you would if you brought someone in to your shop to show them this problem you are having ... the rules don't change just because it's not face-face interaction.
    Cheers,

  • My macbook pro gets very hot when running anything like games or videos

    I just bought a macbook pro 2.3 GHZ i7 with retina display.  It gets very hot when running just about anything of substance.  When I run a game like candy crush, the temperature can get to 167 or more.  I installed istat menus and started monitoring it.  I did notice that the fans never went on but after istats I was able to make them come on.  Without having a game going, the temperatures hover around 100.  Once the game starts, it goes crazy.
    I don't really know what the problem could be or if this is normal (it really can't be....This is way too hot).  I have owned the computer for about 2 months and I need to know what to do.

    You are still under warranty.  Call Apple Care. Make sure you get a case number as all repairs have an additional 90 days of warranty.
    #1 - You have 14 days from the date of purchase to return your computer with no questions asked.
    #2 - You have 90 days of FREE phone tech support.
    #3 - You have the standard one year Apple warranty.
    #4 - If you've purchased an AppleCare Protection Plan, your warranty last for 3 years.   You can obtain AppleCare anytime up to the first year of the purchase of your computer.
    Take FULL advantage of your warranty.  Posting on a message board should be done as a last resort and if you are out of warranty or Apple Care has expired.

  • I get no audio when running news videos from home page

    I get no audio when running video on firefox but everything works correctly using explorer or opera

    Hi coyote6014,
    It could be a couple of things. You might have accidentally muted audio for Firefox. The article Knowledge Base article [[No sound in Firefox]] will show you how to check.
    If that doesn't work, you should look at [[Video or audio does not play]]. This will show you how to troubleshoot any plugin/extension issues that might be impacting your system.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Is it normal for the 4s to get kinda hot when running apps/ video recording?

    Any know? Hope it's not a hardware issue.

    It's normal to get pretty warm when running hard, i.e. video or some apps.  If it gets too hot to touch, that's not normal.

    I've started getting an error when trying to transfer purchased videos to my iPhone.
    I get an error saying that selected videos will not play on the iPhone. They were purchased from iTunes and have been played on the phone previously.
    So far I've only noticed it on SD/HD videos, but not all SD/HD videos. Not had an issue yet with the judt SD files.
    Anyone else encountered this?

    YAY!!! Saved it in my Mac's Firefox Bookmarks for easy future access!
    Hope you are having a lovely afternoon today! I'm about ready to go bobo....I have an early meeting, and I don't want to oversleep! The nice part is that I work remotely, so I only have to wake up 15 minutes or so before the meeting.... I don't even use an alarm clock anymore (really, my iPhone alarm, which is much more pleasant), unless I have to get up at 6:30 or something....

  • I get different result when I paste with mouse and shift+ins

    Sometimes I get different result when I paste the clipboard content with mouse and shift+insert key combination. Why? What can I do to stop this annoyance?

    Just to add a little to the above, there really is no universally applied standard (not even close) for how the primary, secondary, and clipboard buffers should be used.  Any X program can use them however they wish.  But there are some common patterns: selected text should be placed in the primary buffer, and X pastes from the primary buffer with either middle click or shift-ins by default.
    This default can (and unfortunately often is) overriden by clipboard managers - I don't know why they don't stay true to their name and just manage the clipboard buffer, but they often don't.
    <mini rant>with no clipboard tools installed, selected text in any program I have is in the primary selection, and shift+ins or middle click paste from this primary selection.  Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V post to/from the clipboard buffer.  No need for extra tools.  If I install any clipboard manager, this default sanity of X11 goes strait to s(&*Y.  I don't like clipboard managers </mini rant>  <mini praise> X11 is great without any of that cruft added </mini praise>

    First: you should get a new keyboard. Seems your shift-key is stuck.
    Second: A header of a post is a header and not for a summary of your question
    Third: This is the forum for the tool SQL Developer. Please mark this question as answered and post again in Forms
    Forth: When you expect an answer, the least would be to include the errormessage and your forms version.

    hey I'm getting an error when I'm using an AU plugin its saying"Host Error: illegal midi databyte2 an my logic crashes any tips? thanks

    There is a minor issue with Logic where Logic sends corrupt midi data
    to plugins when recording in loopmode (looptool),
    we've released a hotfix for ElectraX 1.2 as well as fixed this in
    ElectraX 1.3 (currently in beta).
    ElectraX 1.3 is set for release in early July and if I remember
    correct the current ElectraX demo also has the fix included,
    so redownloading/reinstalling the demo should take care of it.
    In the meanwhile another possible workaround is to switch off
    loopmode when recording.
