ProcessBuilder won't spawn a new JVM

Hello everyone! I have a ProcessBuilder problem that I was wondering if someone could help me with. Basically it works as it's supposed to on one machine that I am using but won't run on some other machines that I shell into and run as a jar.
The software I have written has a GUI - this GUI has the ability to spawn smaller GUI's that the user may want to have around after the original GUI leaves. By using a MASK I can see if the user wants to run a child GUI as a part of the same runtime or as a stand-alone separate thread. I have been using a ProcessBuilder to accomplish this task and it works fine:
- The child GUI/Thread runs fine when it is a part of the same Runtime.
- The child GUI/Thread runs fine when the ProcessBuilder builds the separate JVM.
When I attempt to run this software on another machine that I am shelling into however I have some issues:
- The child GUI/Thread runs fine when it is a part of the same Runtim (embedded).
- The child GUI/Thread does not start at all when the ProcessBuilder attempts to run the separate JVM. (ps -aef is showing that absolutely nothing is happening, as does top or other process watching scripts).
I am baffled as to why this may be. The systems are different (I am running Fedora Core 3 normally here, and Fedora Core 6 on the other machines). Is there a security option somewhere which is stopping the JVM from being spawned, or an environment variable I am not aware of that needs to be included that I can add to the ProcessBuilder's map? I can gladly provide more information if what I have indicated is not enough, and thanks so much in advance for any help that someone can shed on this matter.

Fixed! Turns out I was giving a String[] command argument that worked fine in one location but not in another. The lack of errors was surprising - but that's because I was not redirecting the output/errors from the spawned process anywhere so it gave the illusion of mysteriously dying. All working now.

Exactly! The password I used to log on here and write my post I figured was the same Apple ID password I would use to reset my computer login password. But my computer isn't recognizing it as the correct password so it wont let me update my login password. I have 2 user accounts on my computer.
As far as the link you provided, I already looked to that for help earlier. It states:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Users & Groups, click the lock to unlock it, then provide an administrator name and password. Select a user, then click Reset Password.
I did these steps, but I don't remember my admin password. The question is: How do I reset my admin password so I can reset my log in password.
Is my admin password the same password I use to log onto this website to post questions? If so, like I said previously, I already reset that password and my computer isnt recognizing it.

I understand you are having some issues with iTunes on your Mac Pro. You may want to isolate the issue further by testing to see if it persists in a new user account:

You made a purchase and exhausted the credit on your card before it processed. All purchases are final. Contact iTunes Store support. You need to settle up before you can purchase or download anything else.

If you're using a fourth generation or earlier iPod touch, click here and download the software.
If you're using a fifth generation iPod touch and an Intel Mac, buy Mac OS X 10.6 from the online Apple Store and run Software Update.

I am trying to spawn a new PDF file to be created from an existing PDF using Java Script within the LC designer

I would like to see if it was possible. I thought it would be easy, as
there is a standard batch processing sequence (Print 1st page of all) using
Java that comes with Acrobat 7. This allows you to print the first page of
a number of files that you select when the sequence is run. Its code is:

To my uninformed mind it seemed logical that the same code, slightly
modified to print all pages, should work from within a form.
Anyway, if there is a way to choose individual files, I would appreciate

Try to force quit the mail app
Double tap the home button. When you see the app previews on the screen scroll sideways if needed to get the preview in question on the screen. Flick that preview up and off the screen to close the app. Single tap the home button or home screen preview to exit the mode.
Failing that, go into the settings, mail, contacts and calendars and remove your account info then put it back in and see if that works

When I click the new tab button it won't open a new tab.

When I either click the new tab button or right click on it and click New Tab, it won't open a new tab. It lights up as though its going to open a new one, to sign that its been clicked, but it won't open a new tab.

That can a problem with the Ask<i></i>.com toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)

I never had an administrator password-- I just hit enter and have never had a problem before with previous installations. I'm on an iMac, from 2007, running Mt. Lion (version 10.8.5). I've been looking for other's posts who may be having the same problem, but haven't found any. Can anyone help?

Ugh. The 'no password, no work' thing is a recent Apple development. I ran into it on my system and ended up having to do a clean install on a partition I fully erased.
I suppose, if you have the ability to, go online and look up how to burn a bootable DVD image. Download the 10.8.4 image then use the Disk Utility to make a boot image of it. You'll need a dual-layer DVD or a USB drive (or memory stick at least 8GB) If you've got an optical drive, burn the disk, if you've a USB device, use that.
Then get a pocket drive and copy your important files off the system or let Time Machine do a full backup.
When the backup is done, insert the disk and hold down the C key until the machine boots off of the DVD. At the point you get to the start window, go to the menu and choose the Disk Utility.
In the Disk Utility, reformat the drive. You go to the actual DRIVE (not the Macintosh HD, but the root above it that is the actual hard drive device)
I always do this and *partition* it into several volumes, the benefit being, you can store all of your music, documents and importans stuff on that secondary storage volume you make - it will have it's own index and then the first volume is where you put the OS and it will have it's own index as well. That way, if the OS throws a wobbler and you need to reinstall, you don't lose your data.
Depending on the size of your hard drive, it is good to give your OS partition at least 60GB and optimally 100GB, and the rest for storage.
Name your volumes, use the little box sliders to manually size them or put that number in the size window, select for the format, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and hit Apply and then the Disk Utility will quickly create your new partitions.
Once finished, quit the Utility and it will return you to the OS installer. Select the volume you want to install to and it should start up and install.
Once the installation is done, you'll get the new machine startup then you MUST put in a password for the computer. Once you're in, and to the desktop, don't bother with any Mountain Lion updates, go right to the App Store and get the Mavericks update and let it install the app to your Applicaitons folder, then do that install.
On a side note, there MAY be a way to make a disk image from the Mavericks application and avoid the entire Mountain Lion step.. I honestly do not know, but a bit of hitting the search engines may find out if there is. I think that if you looked for "make Mavericks boot disk or boot image' you may find something.
