Processing dimension error :DUPLICATE DIMENSION MEMBER %1 IS DETECTED

When I try to process the Account Dimension, I get an error u201CDUPLICATE DIMENSION MEMBER %1 IS DETECTEDu201D.
However my dimension does not contain any duplicate members.
Appreciate if someone could interpret this error message and help me resolve the issue
Thanks,

Hi Sowmya,
We had same error couple of times. The issue is you could have some blank rows inserted at the end of your master data. Try the following steps
1. Maintain master data
2. Go to the last row with valid master data
3. Select all rows below it and right click and delete
4. Save and process dimension
Hopefully this should resolve your issue.

  • Duplicate Dimension Members

    Hi All
When I am processing the Entity Dimension, am getting an error "DUPLICATE DIMENSION MEMBER %1 IS DETECTED".
But I had checked so many times there is no Duplicate Members (%1) in Entity Dimension worksheet.
Please help me on this issue.
    Thanks in advance
    Thanks
    Srikant Ranjan

    Hi Nilanjan
Yes, It is only for Entity Dimension.
As you have mentioned in your previous mail I tried the same.
I deleted all the members of the Entity Dimension and then I process the Empty Member sheet.
While Processing the Dimension still I am facing the same error "DUPLICATE DIMENSION MEMBER %1 IS DETECTED".
    Help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Dimension processing error: "duplicate id detected"

    Hi All,
Im facing an issue where when i try to process a dimension, i get an error message ."error while processing dimensions"
"duplicate id detected" .The reason for this is there are two identical id's with in the same dimension. "pu" & "PU".
Im not able to root cause, how BPC allowed processing of these identical dimensions in the first place. But becoz of this, whene ever i try to add a new dimension member and process the same, i get the above mentioned error.
Have you ever encountered this error in your applications.
If so, what is the way out?
Also, Is there a solution ,which does not involve deleting & re-creating the dimensions.
    Thanks in advance,
    sridhar

    Hi Sridhar,
Best way is delete both the line and process it. The wild fact in BPC is that if if you have used ABC as dimension member in cost center, you can not have same name as dimension member in profit center as well.
Is it not wild? So best way is delete the dimension member..but if you have posted some transaction data u have to delete the transaction data first..

  • Error: Invalid dimension member with special character / in BPC NW 7.5 SP7

    Hi experts,
We are encountering the following problem in our Financial Planning application.
We are migrating our existing BPC solution from one server to another through backup and restore. The existing solution was on BPC NW 7.5 SP 5. The profit_centre dimension in the existing solutions has several member ids with special character '/' (forward slash). The dimension never threw an error when processed in the existing solution and there is planning transactional data against these member ids.
While the entire configration , appset , files were successfully restored through UJBR on the new system (BPC 7.5 SP7) through UJBR (backup and restore), the masterdata could not be restored only for this Profit_centre (masterdata for other dimensions were processed successfullu). All the member ids with / are rejected for this dimension. The same error is thrown if processed through the admin client from the member sheet.
Error: Dimension member PC_FF/WS/NT is an invalid member ID
              Error in Admin module
Is there any setting which need to be made to allow / character in member ids? Any suggestion to get around this problem would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Abhiman

    Hi Abhiman,
Yes, you need to maintain the transformation file to correct all dimension member IDs. Can you please refer to the following link with a similar issue:

    EPMA!!!!! EPMA!!!!
I'm playing around with it to write a blog post and it is crazy. Only possible workaround (till now i'm not able to figure out a solution to it) is to copy the application and deploy it as a new one. Take copy of all objects (forms, tasklist etc). Delete the corrupted application and rename the new one to old.

  • Process Dimension Error

    Hi All
I get the following error message below in BPC 7.5 when trying to process a user-defined dimension Profit Center (PRCTR)
Error Message:   Parser dimension PRCTR's xml file error:
Any idea what could be wrong??? please help.
    Thanks,
    Oscar Tlatsi

    Hi,
The problem is that the xml file of the dimension is corrupted. Keep a backup of your dimension sheet. Please go to UJFS transaction, delete the xml file of the dimension and then process the dimension once again from the Admin.
    Hope this helps.

  • Schedule dimension error

    Hi All,
When scheduled dimension member processing for the category dimension using the admintask_makedim package with the input dimension = category and the input source table name blank. Geting an error message of "Cannot find TempScheduleMbrCategory table : Location (MakeDimension)".
    Please advice.
    Thanks
    Raghu

The data is not getting updated on the client side, because the excel dimension file in the webfolders is not updated. This file needs to be updated after the dimension processing is done. Please update the template version, so that each client machine downloads the new files to the client, the next time they log in.
Similar issue has been discussed in the following thread too.

    Hello Mady,
We are using EPMA applications and Classic applications; unfortunately we haven't taken any backup's of these applications.
I heard from some one that by performing EPMA re-configuration there is a chance of loosing the applications. Only Classic applications can be restored.
Please let me know if my understanding is wrong and kindly suggest the next steps to restore the applications.
Currently we are able to login only to Shared Services only; we can login to Workspace/planning but unable to access the applications.
Thanks for your help in advance!

Not sure if it's valid to have a dimension with 1 hierarchy and 1 level in that hierarchy. The hierarchy may have to have at least 2 levels. If you want the configuration of a dimension with 1 hierarchy and 1 level, CWM2 may want you to omit the hierarchy, thus creating the dimension with only 1 level.

  • OBIEE Evaluate - "Essbase error : Repeated dimension in MDX query"

    Hi,
I'm using OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 on top of Essbase.
I have a project dimension in Essbase with three levels - Total Project -> Project Class -> Project. I have created a new logical column in OBIEE to query two levels from project dimension, using evaluate function as below:
    Evaluate('%1.Members, %2.Members',  "Oracle Hyperion Planning"."ASOCUBE".""."Planning"."Gen2,Project" ,   "Oracle Hyperion Planning"."ASOCUBE".""."Planning"."Gen4,Project" ).
The above column when used in analysis, works fine, returning "Total Project" and all the projects. It breaks however when any filter is applied on project dimension with the following error:
"[nQSError: 96002] Essbase Error: Repeated dimension [Project] in MDX query".
I donot have any MDX skills and would appreciate if anyone can explain this error and provide any workaround for this. Here's the MDX that fails:
    With
      set [_Project0] as '{[Project].Generations(2).Members, [Project].Generations(4).Members }'
    select
      {} on columns,
      {{[_Project0]}} properties GEN_NUMBER on rows
    from [ASOCUBE.Planning]
    where ([Project].[1000000-Treatment Plant])
    Many Thanks

  • 'Essbase Error: Repeated dimension [Accounts] in MDX query'

    Dear Essbase Gurus,
I have an error in a query passed to my Essbase cube from an OBI front end, but the errors states quite clearly that it is an essbase error:
'Essbase Error: Repeated dimension Accounts in MDX query'
This is the query it generated:
    With
    set Accounts3 as 'Accounts.Generations(3).members'
set Attribute Calculations2 as '[Attribute Calculations].Generations(2).members'
    set Events5 as 'Events.Generations(5).members'
    set Month3 as 'Month.Generations(3).members'
    set Scenario2 as 'Scenario.Generations(2).members'
    set Year2 as 'Year.Generations(2).members'
    set Axis1Set as 'crossjoin ({Accounts3},crossjoin ({Attribute Calculations2},crossjoin ({Events5},crossjoin ({Month3},crossjoin ({Scenario2},{Year2})))))'
    select
    {Measures.Total e-revenue} on columns,
NON EMPTY {Axis1Set} properties ANCESTOR_NAMES, GEN_NUMBER on rows
    from Richmond.RichPOC
As an Essbase newbie I'm unfamiliar with mdx and have no idea what this means, any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi garycris,
Thanks for taking a look, I fear you may have hit the nail on the head, as I mention we are reporting on this using OBIEE, so we have imported the cube (BSO) into our OBI repository, OBI flattens the cube to make it look like a star schema it doesn't recognise the Accounts dimension correctly so we have to set it to be of type 'Other' after we have imported it, otherwise none of the figures in the Accounts dimension are actually reported (you can see the members but when included in a query no data is returned).
Another issue we found was that OBIEE appeared to substitute the name 'Measures' for Accounts when building the query, so we made 'Measures' the default alias for the Accounts dimension, to add to the issue I probably should have mentioned that the aggregation rule in OBIEE for this fact column has been set to SUM rather than External_Agg, but Oracle support have previously indicated that this is OK to do. The issue originally arose because we wanted to extend on of our dimensions with additional attributes stored in a SQL database table.
Sorry it is all a bit messy, the whole OBI with Essbase as a source is still relatively new, and it looks like there may be a few things for the mighty O to iron out, I posted this in here because the OBIEE forum has no posts with similar issues, so thanks for your help so far and anything else you can add.

  • Universe Designer: Error getting dimensions for cube

-Using Business Objects Edge 3.1 SP2
-SAP BW 7.0 (patch level 21)
This is quite odd behavior that seemed at first an authorization issue, but now I am uncertain.
-Attempting to create a Universe based on a Infocube.
-Universe connection is created with no problem using user 'ABC'
-Using Universe Designer on the BOBJ server, no issues creating the Universe
-Using Universe Designer on a users desktop, the Universe fails to create with error message:
A runtime exception has occurred. (Error getting dimensions for cube $0SD_C03 (catalog $INFOCUBE): Unknown error)
-Change the connection to use user 'DEF', the Universe creates just fine on the desktop
-Behavior is not exclusive to one BW object, happens no matter what 'ABC' tries to access from this desktop
So, at first I am thinking authorizations, but then the universe create would fail on the server as well.  If it is environmental, what could possibly affect this behavior.
Any ideas before I submit to SAP Support?

Oddly enough it was an authorization issue.
When authenticating against the SAP source system from Universe Designer on either the workstation or server, both traces show a missing authorization for RFC_NAME = RASB
This setting is not found in referenced SAPu2019s guides or whitepapers under suggested authorizations for Universe create.  What remains unexplained is why using the same credentials from 2 different computers had a different response.

  • How to copy data for certain member from one dimension to another dimension

    Dear ,
I want to copy data for certain member ("511102") from one dimension to another combinations of dimensions ,
I have the following combinations for "511102" :
    _("Budget2012","FY12","Working.V01","SAR","BegBalance","1011","G_10","custom Grades")_
I want to copy "511102"  to "salary"
-salary have the following dimensions :
    _("Budget2012","FY12","Working.V01","SAR","BegBalance","General group","All grades","General Employees")_
, I don't know if I could do it by datacopy of cross dimensional , But I don't HOW >>>
    Thanks in advance

    FIX("Budget2012","FY12","Working.V01","SAR","BegBalance","General group","All grades","General Employees")
    "salary"="511102"->"1011"->"G_10"->"custom Grades";
    ENDFIX
    or
    FIX("Budget2012","FY12","Working.V01","SAR","BegBalance")
    DATACOPY "511102"->"1011"->"G_10"->"custom Grades" to "salary"->"General group"->"All grades"->"General Employees";
    ENDFIX
Key thing in datacopy is to place the dimensions in cross dimension in the same order. Both sides (before and after "TO") should have equal number of dimension members specified.

    Alp

  • Error: 1012004 Invalid member name [Forecast- Active]

    Hi All,
I have a command that copies Forecast Pending to Forecast Active...
    DATACOPY "Forecast"->"Pending" TO "Forecast"->"Active";
This validates and runs fine, except it is not recommended practice to use Datacopy on dense dimensions, a more effective solution is to use the equals command..
    "Forecast"->"Active" = "Forecast"->"Pending"
However, this gives me the following error in essbase...
error: 1012004 Invalid member name [Forecast->Active]
can we not assign multidimensions on the left hand side of the equation?
    Thanks,

TO do this the formula has to be in a member block. Try wrapping the data opt. Ommand in
    in"forecast"(
