e da una settimana stiamo aspettando che ci mandino il programma!
Abbiamo conversato in chat con un addetto che ci ha indicato dove inviare il documento che attesta che
siamo una scuola, ma la conferma della verifica non è mai arrivata.
Quindi mi è sorto il dubbio che le scuole private non contino.

Multipage forms to assess students - use 1 page per student?

Hi
I need to set up a form to assess 16 students...rather than have the assessors complete 16 separate forms. I can use conditional branching to show or hide pages based on a selection at the start (so the assessor only sees the pages for the students they want to assess), but how do I return results that can be separated out by student...i.e. if the same "questions" are on each page can I identify them separately?

Sorry I don't quite understand your use case. Why do you not want the 16 students to fill out the form separately? If you do that, then you can easily see the results separated by student.

What formatting for external hard drives for my photo students?

I teach digital photography. Our classroom Macs are a mix of Intel and PPC (iMac 20", G5s). My students typically either come with a Mac laptop, buy one while here, or soon after they leave. Some (few!) have a PC laptop or will leave to go home to a PC laptop.
I've been buying one external harddrive per student (with FW800, FW400, USB 2.0, 250 GB) from macsales.com for students to put their digital photos on while here and when they leave my 12 wk. course. I encourage them if they have a Mac laptop to partition their external drive to have one partition for backing up their boot drive, one for their photos.
In the classroom, they may be hooking up their external drive to a PPC or Intel Mac.
What recommendations can you give for what formatting they should be using for their external drives? Intel, for PPC, or...MS-DOS (if they go to a PC)? (One student told me that her external drive which was formated for PPC last summer now won't show up on her MacBook Pro.)
I realize they can only use the FW800 on a few Macs (including 17" MacBook Pro, Mac Pro), and should not be using USB 2.0 for a drive they hope to boot a Mac with. I've heard formatting and using MS-DOS is very unstable (for PCs at least).

That's impressive and very user-supportive. At work, our students have space on our server to backup/store their work for the semester but are greatly encouraged to backup their stuff with either Cds or DVDs (and we don't supply those). If they use a personal machine, they are responsible for their own backups of their system.

As I mentioned earlier, an Intel Mac can boot from an APM formatted drive although this may or may not be the best solution. Unfortunately with partitioning via Disk Utility (and perhaps other tools as well - I've not investigated this yet), every partition must be of the same scheme GUID or APM.
The most important reason for backups (IMHO) is to safeguard personal work. The OS can be re-installed anytime and settings reconfigured if need be. Since the APM scheme can be used by both Intels and PPC for data, I would go with APM. Bootable or not, their important data will be backed up.
(I don't know why one student had a problem but it shouldn't be related to the partition scheme.)
For a bootable system/backup, I use Carbon Copy Cloner from Mike Bombich. Ideally, so long as there is space, I create a restorable image of a fresh OS install and put it away for a rainy day. I then clone my entire internal drive to the external (APM). Over the last year, I've been able to boot from it on my original iMac CD as well as have a hard copy of my work.
Once backed up, I would later use the option to only copy changed files instead of re-doing the entire drive. That was a feature in the PPC version of the app (which will run under Intel) although I haven't tried the latest universal version (3.0 beta). There are a number of other applications that can perform backups/cloning as well.

Student grades query of two courses

Hi everybody
I need some advices from experts. I'm trying to make a suitable database for students grades. I'm a bit confused in how to gather all grades of each single student into one from. let say that the students have two courses, where each course has 4 tests. The
4 tests of the two courses are summed separately, so we will have two total grades. Finally, the average of the two grades is considered as the final grade. Here I would like inquire, should I create one query for all grades or it is better to create a query
for each course grades then create a third query to gather the two queries. Note that I need to print out the first course grade (including the tests ). Also, In the second course I will have to print out the whole grades in details for the two courses.
Any help please.

I already own the Student/Teacher Edition CS6 Photoshop Extended and want to buy the Design Standard Student/Teacher edition in order to add In-Design and Illustrator to my Mac. My concern is that, since Photoshop is included in the Design Standard collection, will my pre-existng copy of Photoshop keep me from getting a serial number/license on the other two products since I know you can only puchase one product per student? I was just hoping someone could clarify this for me before I spent money on something that I may not can use. I really want In-Design and Illustrator and this is my cheapest route as a student.

There will not be any issues, while you are installing the Adobe CS6 Design Standard, you would not have an option to install Adobe Photoshop CS6 as its already installed.
Alternatively, You may de activate and uninstall the Adobe Photoshop CS6(curently installed) and keep it as a back up and use the Photoshop which is a part of Adobe CS6 Design Standard.

Dear community,
I have stranded on something I am not sure how to figure it out.
What I want is a page which contains an empty report and a LOV. When I select something from the LOV (which is a primary key), the empty report should be filled with the information stored/related to the LOV selection.
That possible. because I could not find or get any examples for this.
Explanation:
I have a page 1.
I have a region in page 1.
I have a report in page 1.
I have a LOV item in page 1.
When LOV item selection is pressed the report should be filled with tabledata linked to the lov selection.

Teacher looking for solution to generating a document linked to class roster.

I'm looking for an electronic version of the label.
I want to create a document (like a worksheet) that has fields for Name, Hour, Date at the top. Then, I'd like the PDF to generate a worksheet per student on my roster, automatically filling in the fields with their roster info.
When printed, every student would get a worksheet with their own name on it.
Any thoughts?

Timing Java Apps on Portable Devices and Desktops

I am trying find an efficient way to time my Java applications running on Linux on portable devices like Pocket PCs and other hand held computers. I also need to time the running of applications on desktop and laptop computers and compare the two. I am conducting research to find out if Java runs slower on smaller processors in comparison to larger ones. I am looking for either research or a program that can help me to accomplish this. I have looked at JProbe but I would prefer an option that doesn't involve buying software. Are there any basic programing languages that offer this option? Does the JVM allow timing test to be conducted by itself? Is Java a good language to make a timing program with or should I look elsewhere. If you have any information please let me know.

GROUP By function in where clause

I want to find the student who got the the highst marks with and SQL select statement. This is what I wrote.
SELECT STD_ID from Student where STD_MARK=MAX(STD_MARK)
But oracle gives an error saying group function is not allowed here.
Can u plz tell me how to get the student who has got the highst marks.

Filter Data in LTS

Hello All,
I have a table in the physical layer that includes several student records and each student has multiple records and each record has a date column (Test_date). Ultimately, I would like to see only one record per student by the maximum(test_date). I tried to put in the condition in the where clause of the LTS Content tab, however the records get filtered by the maximum test date in the table versus maximum(test_date) by student.
Can you please guide me in setting such a filter or ways to achieve this?

I made join with TIMES dimension (TIMES.TIME_ID=Student_records.test_date, both DATE columns), placed them in BMM and in Answers made request using only columns from Student_records logical table (in my case it is identified as a detail table):
Answers columns:

Answers filter (advanced, convert this filter to SQL option):
Student_records.test_date = MAX(Student_records.test_date by Student_records.student_name)
Result:

How to create a loop to run total of records for before and after unconstant date

Here is the data sample:
ID period code date

There are many students with many periods and many codes. I need to save a date when code = 'G' and count separateley records per student/period 2 times - before and equal that date and after that date, so in the end for period 00 I will have 2 values: 3 (before) and 1(after).
There are periods from 00 to 08. I am counting students abscencies before and after warning letter was sent (code G).
The result data should look : 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08              00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08     Total
                                            3 0   0   0   0   0   0   0   0                 1 0    0   0   0   0   0   0   0        4

Thank you for your answer, but I do care about the date the 'G' happened, because I need to reset count.
The logic behind is this:if a student absent for more than 8 times per period - the letter will be sent out to the parents , that will be code 'G' with period '-1' (it may happen that there will never be code 'G' , but I need to track all absencies). Once the letter is sent, the count starts over (the count starts over the next day after code 'G'). The absencies which happened before or the date the letter sent should count toward 'previous' abscenices, all other - absenices after the letter.
So basically I need total per period and total per period before or the day with code 'G'. Running total with reset with formula code = 'G' does not work.
I created a formula field which has global date (when code 'G' happenned) and it says if globaldate >= periodDate then date (1900,01,01) else (2100,01,01) and that formula is ok, but I can not use it in running total or can not create group on it and insert total.
Please help me with this. Thank you.

Web Gallery duplicating photos

I seem to have a consistent problem of photo duplicating themselves when I add new photos to a Web Gallery. The duplications don't show up on the actual Web gallery but are present within iPhoto, for example iPhoto says there are 96 images and the Web Gallery says 73. This problem only occurs when I add images to an existing Web Gallery and not when creating a new Web Gallery from selected images or albums. If you delete the 'dupe' all instances of the same image are deleted. Anyone else having this problem? any ideas to fix it?

My gallery/iphoto wish list is to have this solved and then to allow the gallery albums to have sub albums within them. Im talking 1600 thumbnail photos per student, 21 students!

I think you want to change the key photo - to do this open the web gallery in iPhoto (click on it in the source pane - the left hand list) and find the photo you want as the key photo and drag it to the little thumbnail at the upper left of the window to the left of the gallery name

hi i want to implement "Print all" button functionality in my simple school management software where the
report printing of whole students of same class can be done with a single "print all" button function.

its the simple student management system where the teacher will input the marks of the students in particular subjects and store it in the database. now i have to print that on the report card. printing report as per student might be troublesome so i want to implement the " print all" button where the report card of all the students in that class will be printed in the report cards. its: printer printing the report of a student in the paper (A4 size) and then printer takes another paper sheet and then print the report of another student of same class until finish. how to accomplish this task?

MAX behaving strangely...

I'm trying to do what at first I thought would be a very simple query:
I am extracting a list of course completions, and need to join to an 'order' and 'order_items' tables (think shopping cart - one order record relates to many order_items records) to find the order date to include in the extract. In the course completion table I have a student ID and product ID. The 'order' table contains the student ID, and the 'order_items' table contains the product ID and order ID. As a student can have multiple orders, I need to make sure I have the correct order and order_item records for the current completion record.
So, the simple query would be:
select ord.order_date c.title, c.end_date, c.score, s.name
from orders ord, course_completions c, students s
where s.id = c.student_id
and ord.id in
(select id from orders where student_id = c.student_id
and order_id in (select order_id from order_items where product_id = c.product_id));
However, this doesn't work, as a student might have mulitple orders for the same product (don't ask me why - I think it's bad data, but I have to accomodate for it) - the subquery can return multiple rows, so I am getting duplicate course completion returns with different order dates. I need to filter the subquery, so only the latest order is returned. I have tried using MAX in the subquery:
(select MAX(id) from orders where student_id = c.student_id
and order_id in (select order_id from order_items where product_id = c.product_id));
but this doesn't seem to return the correct number of rows - with my data I should get 11 rows - using the MAX I only get 4.
Any ideas anyone?

Well you could try the following.....
I added
* EXISTS for Order_Items - should be quicker.
* GROUP BY Student_id, this will allow your MAX function to work.
* Changed the "ORD.Id IN" to "ORD.Id =" since the subquery only returns one row.
