Producer-consumer design for temperature and pressure acquisition

I am working on my first LabVIEW program in version 8.6. I eventually want to be able to take both temperature and pressure measurements (6 RTDs and 2 pressure sensors), write them to files, compare the temperatures, and then turn 9 heaters (2 zones) on and off depending on the temperatures and temperature differences. I will also need to have necessary alarms and emergency shut down if something overheats.
To start, I am just working with temperature. I have made a program that reads 2 RTDs with the NI9217 in the cDAQ 9172. It plots the temperatures and writes them to file. Then it compares the 2 temperatures. If the temperature difference is greater than the user defined difference, an LED alarm lights up. This loops until the user presses the stop button.
The program runs, but then I get a 200279 error. It says that increasing the buffer may do the trick; however, I read online and watched a video on the producer/consumer design, which I think might do the trick. I am hoping with the producer/consumer design that I will be able to sample the temperatures faster (especially once I have 6 RTDs and 2 pressure sensors). Right now it takes about 11 seconds for the loop to run.
I have played around with trying to do the producer/consumer design, but I am not having much luck. I am not sure how to set it up. Do I need to have one producer loop with the DAQ assistant, and then 2 consumer loops (one for each RTD)? If I have 2 consumer loops, how do I then synchronize the data to compare the temperatures that were taken at the same time?
If I only use 1 consumer loop, how do I separate the data that is coming from one RTD vs. the other RTD?
Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have attached my attempt at the producer-consumer design. It runs much faster than the VI I attached in my first posting; however, it has bugs.
When I press the stop button, I get an error 1 (occurred at Dequeue Element).
Also, how do I get the graphs to plot with a fixed axis? For example I would like to see the plot of 5mins worth of data. I have tried turning off the autoscale, but it does not keep the axis from changing.
Any suggestions on how I can clean up this program? When I get to adding more RTDs, should they all be in this same consumer loop?
What would be the best way to add in the pressure data? With another producer loop and another consumer loop?

Better Design for EJB 3 and Java Web Dynpro

When using EJB Model on CE, to each method a Request and Response are generated. To a CRUD i've 4 methods.
I've a Foo (JPA Entity).

public Foo update(Update)
public void remove(Foo)
public List<Foo> findBy...
I think that i could use a Single view for both create and update method. But i will need a separated context objects to each function.
Request_<Bean>_create
Request_<Bean>_update
What is better in this case? a single method createOrUpdate on my EJB? Or a View to each operation?

Was generated one Request to each method.
Request_<Bean>_create
Request_<Bean>_update
I've mapped the both on my Component controller and have created on view to edit and create a new record.
When the record already exists i'm initializing the Request_<Bean>_createElement with record data, when is a new i've just initialize the new Foo object and put on currentElement of update.
On the generic save method of controller, a test is done to decide if the Request<Create> or Request<Update> model Object.

How to use form design for both online and Offline Scenrio!

I have created the forms using WebDynpro context with ZCI layout for Online scenario.
There are some fields which need to be prefilled and are read only.. Header fields.
There is no interface structures created seperately but the interface is constructed through webdynpro context.
Now that I have to use the same for offline scenario, I don't see layout in SFP of form. I can create a structure for Importing fields but there is no Layout for mapping?
Do I need create seperate forms for this as I have some prefilled hedaer fields which I can't pass using download beacause there is no context design available for this?

you could either create a separate form for your offline form using Data Dictionary interface or use the Data Dictionary interface for both of your forms.
You do have the option of creating your own XML file for your offline form - you may be able to copy the XML code out of your online interface, save it to a file and use that for your offline interface - i'm not 100% sure on this as I've never done that.

Creating one design for both A4 and Letter Sizes

Hi There!
I'm new to the forum. I've been tasked with creating individual catalogue pages for a global company. Some divisions in the US use 'Letter' and here in the UK we use 'A4'.
I was wondering if there's a way of creating a one page design - say in A4 - that when exported as PDF will print to both page sizes? I wondered if I could set the print settings in advance so the page automatically prints to fit page? Unfortunately haven't been able to find any advice on this.
Any other suggestions would be very much appreciated.

The answer is that the same page can be printed, scaled, in both formats, but it won't be pretty if you do it that way. In CS6 you can create an Alternate Layout in the same document so that you have both page sizes and can adjust the layout to fit the differnt shapes, then choose which to output. You can use Linked Stories so that you only need to edit one and the other will update.

Hi everyone,
I have a large document of proposal master pages that I would like to update with CS6. My usual work flow, when I need to make a new proposal, is to open a new document and just move over the master pages I need. This depends on which products they want, etc. Then I override the master pages in the new document and make whatever customizations I need for that particular customer.
Now with CS6, I'm thinking that I will just have the pages be pages (with fewer masters). I will make an alternate layout directed at each market segment we have, and also these pages for tablets and interactive PDFs. (Sometimes we are asked to provide a digital copy of proposals). Then, when I have a new proposal to do, I will do a Save As and make a copy of the main doc. Then I will just delete all the pages and the alternate layouts I don't need.
A few questions:
1. How do I set up my "intent." Most of these master pages are two pages, so I think the digital publishing intent messes that up.
2. Do you think this new set up would make the file huge? I have had size issues in the past and the file is already very sluggish.
3. Is this the best way to go about this work flow?

External storage for early 08 mac pro for video storage and editing

Early 08 Mac Pro mod 3.1, 2x Intel 2.8 Quad Core Processors. Bus speed 1.6 Ghz. 10 GB DDR2 FB-Dimm 800 MHz. USB2, Firewire 400, 800. ATI Radeon HD 2600 PCIe 256 mbVRAM. Currently running OS 10.6.8.
I use machine for photo and video storage and editing. I tried using 2x 3TB and 2x1TB HDD internally ( 8 TB total). All are Seagate Barracuda SATA 7200. Experienced constant spinning wheel and lockup requiring manual shutdown. I had upgraded to Lion and to Maverick. Did not help so I did a clean install of primary with Snow Leopard and did not install past 10.6.8. Works now if I don’t exceed 3.5 TB internally. I also discovered that my Disk Permissions experienced voluminous corruption that could not be repaired if I installed Java for Mac OS 10.6 Update 17 as suggested each time I check for software updates.
I need to be able to have a total of about six TBs available in my system for storage and editing of video via Imovie. I don’t know the maximum of HDD storage that can be used in the four internal bays without causing lockup and corruption. If 3.5 TB is about the max, then I would like to have some ability to have external storage via firewire 800 if that would facility fast enough transfer for either video edition and or playback. I don’t know if thunderbolt can be installed via PCI card. I could add a SATA PCI card. However, I assume that would cause the same problem as experienced with 8 TBs installed internally in the four bays.
I would appreciate any suggestions.

Does the High Point Technologies SATA3 PCIe connect to eternal drive enclosures or does it somehow connect to drives in some of your four internal bays?
Highpoint makes several RocketRAID 2700 series SATA3 controllers for Mac with external mini-SAS connectors, probably the cleanest/least expensive external hook-up. They also offer a combo internal/external board that (for marketing reasons) is listed as not working for internals with Mac Pro. I believe that this is due to pressure from Apple (who apparently does some business with High Point Tech) but to the best of my knowledge it will. Technically, the "not supported" statement is true since all the internal bays are tied to the motherboard SATA 2 controller, but this can be remedied with a special cable. HOWEVER... the boards are not bootable, so your system disk needs to be on the motherboard controller.
In truth, I bought one of their 8-port "internal only" boards designated for PC only and flashed it so the Mac Pro sees it as a 2722 board, so I have 8 internal ports. I'm not recommending you do the same unless you're pretty geeky, but the 2721 would give you half-and-half or the 2722 would give you 8 external with no mods to the board.

DFD diagram and ER crossmatrix for role definitions and role's privileges on objects

Having the question on derivative use of combination of DFDs and ER diagrams ( let us be more fixes and focus on Relational model ).
In DFD there are defined external entities and functions, data flows and data stores that are forming processes.
Functions represents procedures, transactions, transformations.
Dataflows presents procedures parameters, intermediate reports, temporary table data, data that is passed , retrieved/written, signals, triggers/events that controle or trigger function...
Context of my question is focused on external entities.
External entity suppose to denote the sourced or destinationed system ( for example Archiving system ) or operator, system that is out of scope of the DFD and it is mentioned just as target or destination or source of dataflow or control flow.
In context of these understandings I am using external entitiy also for types of users of the system: staff that is triggering functions or schedulers or job managers, or reporting systems ( or components of reporting systems like for example business intelligence extraction processes ).
What is my problem that on basis of external entity definitions and E/R model also define roles and privilege classes for access to data objects.
And from those generating ddls for database roles, privileges on entitities to those roles.
But in privileges granting to role having two different kind of privileges on data objects:
- privileges that are granted on various schema objects
For example role1 has grant on tab1, view2, procedure1, package3,
- the other type of privilega is based on the scope or range of semantically defined scope or semantic area.
Semantic area is scattered through tables because of normalisation and using semantic area as entity of which primary key is
partitioning the table data through many semantic areas.
So this privilege should be granted on basis of the rows in table not column ( more semantically then structurally ...row oriented more than column ).
Both privileges that are granted to roles are also basis for functional roles
( privilege that is granted that functional role has grant to trigger or execute some function or process ).
My question is?
How do you handle modeling technology for analysis and design for role privileges and consolidation between database and functional roles ?

Guess I was looking for the formal sequence of steps that would bring me to the
ddls for "create role ..." and "grant privileges to role".
You can do that.
1) I assume you have logical model and it's engineered to relational model, also you have data flow diagram created
2) You need to define information structures for flows connecting "Information store" to primitive process - attribute usage of particular entities should be defined for those "information structures" processed in flows
3) You need to define create, update and delete operation for flow going from primitive process to store - read is assumed in opposite direction
4) create a role in Process model and assign primitive processes to it - list of available processes to add depends on current data flow diagram
5) You need an open physical model for your relational model
6) Select "transfer process model roles to physical model roles" from context menu of top level DFD - select roles, relational and physical model there - roles with related permissions will be created in physical model
Entity1 is divided in several subtypes for different business areas.
And account manager for business_area1 is allowed to work on subtype1 ( view on prime table )...
Different implementation of entity hierarchies are not processed correctly in that wizard - i.e to get permissions to table corresponding to child entity - that entity should be used in information structure and flow.

I work for a organisation based in Sydney and we have a team license for creative cloud (single edition).
We have been producing single folio apps for the iPad and want to continue this through 2015.
At the moment we can only create apps for the iPad platform. If we upgrade to a Professional Edition DPS license can we create an unlimited number of Single edition apps for iPad, iPhone and Android devices?
We do not need multi-folio apps as we are not a publishing company.

FOr a client they are asking 40 Wireless IP Phone, with 3 floors, IPT side I am clear in design, but for access point design I am bit confused with standalone and WLC design.
Could please light me on Wireless design for standalone AP and WLC controller with AP , in the design plan to give both as options.
And also how to confirm a AP is a standalone or it wil work only with WLC.

I would suggest you subcontract this to a partner who is familiar with wireless voice designs. There are a lot of details and caveats to make sure it works.
For example: autonomous APs are not viable for voice installations. You need a controller to prevent the roam times from interrupting the call.

witch is fine I can always reduce this, but it was the timing feature I was
having difficulty with. I looking to monitor the temperature of a motor until
it has stabilised prior to testing and then to use this temperature as a
reference. Pleas forgive my ignorance if this is a very simple thing but I’ am

What I’ am trying to achieve is a vi I can use in a motor
testing setup, a part of this would be to warm the motor up until the exhaust
air temperature has stabilised, this takes approximately 10 minuets. I was
thinking of just letting the motor run for this time and leave it at this, but
some motors warm up quicker that others and. I am basically looking for a vi with
an adjustable temperature window of say ±5 C° in 1° increments, timing wise 1minuet
to 10min the adjustment is so I a can use this for another application. I tried
to adjust the code I found at the link below but had a little difficulty with
the timing. Thank you so much for your help it’s much appreciated.

What temperatures are acceptable for the CPU and Graphics card?

I have Intel Xeon X5400 series CPUs and a Nvidia graphics card.
It is interesting to monitor the temperatures but only if you know what temps matter...

How will an external Hard drive designed for the macbook Pro work with my White Macbook? My white macbook has a Firewire 400 and the G-Tech HD has a 800 to 400 compatible cable for the firewire.

I am asking this because I want the G-Tech Hard drive says that it is designed for the macbook pro. Yet, I want to back up faster with by using my firewire 400 which is not an option on the one designed for the white macbook that does not have a firewire (only a USB port.) The G-Tech Hard drive comes with the 800 to 400 compatible cable and has 5400 RPM with 750 GB. Also, I've heard that laptops with low battery (mine all the time) won't have the power for a bus powered Hard drive (as in no ac plug in adaptor.) Can I just plug in my laptop? Any one know the answers from experience with this hard drive?

As far as I know, if a harddrive works with a Macpro, it should work with the Macbook: if your Macbook is low on power, plug in the AC adapter
If your Macbook has a firewire port, then it should be fine. BUt i would do somemore research first.
