Product Tax rules & Destination State

Hi partners,
What's the best way to set up Tax Options for differently taxed products in Business Catalyst?
We have 3 types of product taxes: GST 5%, HST 12% and tax excempt 0%.
Some products have taxes and some don't.
Depending on website visitor's Destination State - the taxes will change.
A couple of examples:
Product
Canada - British Columbia
Canada - Other Provinces
United States
Candle
HST 12%
GST 5%
0%
Honey
0%
0%
0%
It looks like Taxes and Destination States are merged in Business Catalyst.
Once I add the Tax Options in Business Catalyst, for example:
HST 12%
GST 5%
Tax Excempt 0%
They appear in the Shopping Cart as Destination State.
Is there a way to set a different Tax to each product and
still be able to select a correct Destination State in the shopping cart?

Cody,
The solution that worked for us:
1) setup a tax for each province - examples Ontario 13%, Alberta 12%, etc. (Unfortunatelly there is no clean way to display GST & PST separately - so you'll need to combine them into a single rate, ie 12%)
2) DON'T apply tax to each product (just leave it as Not Applicable)
3) Enable destination state tax on shopping cart (this will enable the Destination State dropdown in the shopping cart, which will calculate the correct tax)
If you have different products on your website which require more than 1 tax in a specific State/Province (for example, in British Columbia you have one product taxed at GST 5%, and another product taxed at GST+PST 12%), then there IS NO WAY to do this properly in BusinessCatalyst (as of April 2013)

  • Setting Sales Tax for in State ONLY??

What we have here is a failure to communicate...  Either it is a language problem with support or they can't explain the feature.
All the answers I 'm getting are NOT answers to the question I'm asking. And the document is not clear either.
I have clients who sell products who ONLY need to charge sales tax to customers in the same state (PA)  but BC is charging 6% to all customers regardless of location.  We realize now that we should not have set the tax on individual products to PA 6%  (although that is VERY counterintuitive), and we set up our tax code for the USA with all states being zero and pa being 6%.   Tech cannot tell me how I should be setting taxes globally for products. IT is almost as if this feature does not exist:
ME:   No,    This is not acceptable nor does it make any sense.
In the USA, for most companies,  we only charge sales tax to In state customers, not out of state customers.  Therefore we need to be able to set up a global tax NOT on the product and NOT on the Country, but upon the state ONLY.
If this option is not available, it is a worthless system.

There are two proper ways to add tax.
    1. Add tax to shipping options: In this case, you create tax codes and shipping options too. Now, you add tax code to the shipping option as per the customer's destination country. Add a shipping option, and select the tax code in the shipping option. This is the more widely used method of applying tax. From what I had seen, you didn't create any shipping options yet, hence the confusion.
    2. Add tax directly to the product: This is what you had done. This will, as you have already mentioned, apply the tax to the product, irrespective of the customer's address details.
    Hope this clarifies the situation.
    Cheers.
You can set it as not applicable. If you apply tax to the product level, it will apply the tax to all orders for that product. To apply tax to all orders regardless of the visitor's location, you can apply tax at a product level. Check this document:http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/partner/tax-codes.html

Your question is really inappropriate to the Apple Discussions. The AD is a user-to-user forum for helping with technical problems and questions for Apple products. Sales taxes is certainly not one of those topics.
However, to answer your question. If your friend purchases a Mac in the Apple store or if you purchase it via the online store taxes will be charged. Sales taxes in the US are typically between 6-8 percent of the purchase cost depending upon the state in which it is purchased. There are a few states that do not levy sales taxes such as Nevada and Montana.
In addition when your friend takes the computer into your country you will likely be charged with import duties and taxes as well. If it's your expectation that this ploy will save you some money I wouldn't count on it.

    Hi Priya ,
Section 24 deduction works perfectly for me . Its clearly stated in the budget note released to get your system upgraded to N-1 patch level.
We are currently working on SAP 604 sp76(upgraded from 64-76) , and EA-HR patches updated to 55..
Please ask your basis consultant to check the levels and upgrade accordingly .
The manual changes given in the budget note are working correctly.

  • Is there any report that can show tax rates per tax code per state

    Hello Gurus,
I checked all standard SAP reports and they only list taxes based on the documents created. I am trying to develop a list of tax rates that are based on each tax code per state. Can some one suggest me how I can go about this.

    Hi,
Are you using SAP to derive tax rates at Jurisdiction level or a third party like Vertex or taxware? I haven't come accross a situation where we configure SAP to maintain tax rates per state. It is connected to third party via RFC and the rate is derived based on the jurisdiction code however, we configure the jurisdiction code numbering and levels in SAP.
    Thanks

  • Tax - Tax Rules - Tax clasificacion code

    Hi everyone,
    I'm re-implantant a eBS 12.1.3 from eBS 11i
I have setup EB Tax with a unique tax regime which has various tax defined... each tax has associated an unique tax status and each tax & tax status have associated various tax rates... Then, If I want to use "TAx Clasification Code" field from AP or AR invoices then I have to define one tax rule for each tax rates and I have created three tax rules and when I created a invoice and validate it (f.e, in AP) , system generates three tax lines...
Then, I suppose that the use of tax rules is for creating tax lines simultaneous, namely, a invoice could have various tax simultaneus.
So, If each invoice has generally an unique tax line, I suppose that I can only define an unique tax rules and then, I can only define an unique tax and I create all tax codes of 11i like tax rates associated a unique tax.
    For example:
    Now, I have defined:
Tax Regimen: tax : Tax status: tax rates: Determine Tax Rate (tax rules):
ES TAX SUPPORT VAT STANDARD VAT 18%, VAT 8%, VAT 0% 3
RENTING VAT STANDARD RENTING VAT 18%, RENTING VAT 4% 2
    IGIC STANDARD IGIC 5% 1
Then, I have created three tax rules (one for each tax) and each tax rule has associated "Determine Tax Rate" rules for each tax rates.
When I created Ap invoice and validate it, system creates three tax lines...
Should I create an unique TAX with many tax rates as tax codes in 11i?
Tax Regimen: tax : Tax status: tax rates: Determine Tax Rate (tax rules):
ES TAX VAT STANDARD VAT 18%, VAT 8%, VAT 0% , RENTING VAT 18%, 6
    RENTING VAT 4% , IGIC 5%
    What is you oppinion??
    Best Regards,
    Ricardo

How could I reply same functionality which I have now in eBs 11i?? namely, when I created one invoice in 11i, system fill tax derived of customer/supplier...however, it can not be replicated in R12.
    How could I do it?
Please, Can anyone help me define it?
    Best Regards

  • Write Source to Destination statement

    Hi,
We are making the code unicode compatible,
we re facing a problem in the
    <b>Write <Source> to <Destination> statement</b>
    as shown below
    WRITE SATZ-SOFE_ERSF TO SATZ-SOFE_ERSF CURRENCY P0008-WAERS
the unicode error is, the destination field must be of type Charracter.
If we use a temporary variable of type char, then we must convert this character variable back to the type P and assign it to the actual variable.
    How do we achieve this.
    Thanks,
    Chetana

if you dont want to use char type u dont need to use WRITE syntax.
you can use MOVE syntax to move data from type has any decimal to type any decimal.
WRITE is generally using when datas wanted to display formatted.

  • EbTAX define tax rule based on the purchase value

    Hi,
I have 2 questions to configure a rule in EBTAX.
    1. XXVAT tax only applies if the purchase value is greater than 100 HOL.
In Tax Determining Factor Sets I can't find the options to define this condition.
Where I can define this condition?
    2. In ebTax I can define the following rule?
If Purchase value = 1000 HOL
    Then:
XVAT12% applies to the first 300 HOL of the purchase
XVAT15% applied to the remaining 700 HOL of the purchase.
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi,
I have a similar need and would like to see if anyone out there resolved this using ebtax without customizations.
    Thanks you all

  • Product Category Rules in Shopping Cart

    Hi All,
Currently trying to figure out the logic behind how the SRM system fills in the Product Category field in the Shopping Cart when taking an item from a Punch-Out Catalog. From what I've researched so far, how it is supposed to work is:
If a valid value is passed through NEW_ITEM-MATGROUP[n] then SRM should populate this.
If no value is passed then default value maintained in Ext. Attributes of Org. Structure is taken.
Are there any other rules that I'm missing? What if the catalog passes a valid Product ID, but no Product Category, will the system take the associated Product Category from COMMPR01, or will it take the default from org structure? In our tests we found that is taking the default from org structure, and I'm not sure if this is a bug, standard, or configuration issue.
    Regards,
    Andrew Bondarev

    Hi Richardo,
Thanks for the response. We have already checked the table, and it doens't seem that there are duplicate entries for the Product Category.
We did just have a breakthrough though in that if we supress the fields NEW_ITEM-ext_schema_type and NEW_ITEMEXT_CATEGORY_ID[n], then the proper value is populated in SRM.
Note: We are performing the mapping on the APC side, so the value in NEW_ITEM-MATGROUP[n] is already the Product Category found in COMM_HIERARCHY. No mapping should be needed in SRM. I'm guessing that by passing a schema type and ext. category ID, SRM is looking for some mapping in SRM, but can't find it so it uses the value in the Org. Structure.
Now the issue is figuring out how to allow for the values  for Schema and Ext.Category to still be passed from APC, but have SAP ignore them.

    Andrew

  • ABAP porgram in update rule-Job stats

    Hi All,
I have an ABAP program that is in one of the update rules from source ODS to destination ODS. Source ODS has 20million records. When we are loading the records to destination ODS , Is there any way I can find howmuch time will take to process 1 record and  also when it is running how do I know howmany records it has processed or  howmany  yet to process ? I have tried with SM50 but not able to find much useful information?
Please help me and if you have any documents please send it to [email protected]

    hi Shravani,
try using this code.. ths is done as a report, you will have to change the fields.
**get the first 4 chars of the date. date is stored as YYYYMMDD format internally. check with the system year. sy-datum has the system date
    if comm_structure-stat_date+0(4) = sy-datum+0(4).
**get the month i.e the 5 and 6th characters from the date and compare them
    if comm_structure-stat_date+4(2) > sy-datum+4(2).
      result = 0.
**ELSE. .... you havent mentioned what u want to do if the month is lesser or equal to the system month
    endif.
    else.
**Get the first 6 chars of the statistical date.. i.e the year and month.
      result = comm_structure-stat_date+0(6).
    endif.

  • Transfer rules yellow state

    Hi Exterts,
i have done the BC installation of 0PM_C03
now we have to make  it adaptable to our system by  creating ZC objects
so i have created ZC objects
now transfer rules are in yellow state even though i have activated it
    i saw the mapping.
some infoobjects  and some field are not mapped in transfer rules
but i could see that all the objects  that are present in 0PM_C03  are mapped in transfer rules and also all objects are mapped in update rules.
now what i have to do to make transfer rules as green
    Please Advise ,
    Thanks in Advance.
    Nitya

    HI
    try this,
1.check the all dependent objects are in active version or not?
    2. are you giving the right source system name, technical name also check if any source system dependent fields your using and trying to club with different sourcesystem in transfer structure?
    3. Transfer Rule with YELLOW status signifies that there are fields/InfoObjects which are yet to be mapped. If all the Fields/InfoObejcts are mapped then the status would be GREEN.
