Profile Manager crashes with Application

I am having a problem with running and apple script app and was hoping someone may have a suggestion. The app works great and as expected when run by a user. It creates an alias on the user’s desktop and links it to their windows Documents folder that already exists on our network. This part I am very happy with. The code is as follws, then I export it as an application:
mount volume "smb://servername/share/" & (system attribute "USER")
set localMyDocs to quoted form of POSIX path of "/Users/" & (system attribute "USER") & "/Desktop/Documents"
do shell script "ln -sfF " & "'/share/" & (system attribute "USER") & "/folder' " & localMyDocs
Previous experience showed that it is required to add an application to the /application folder on the server so that it will show in the application list in profile manager. This works with word, abobe CS and so on without the need for a full install.
When I add the applescript app to the servers /applications folder the profile manager website crashes when I try to add any applications:
If I remove the application from the server the error goes away and I can add applications again. This is a bit of a head scratcher, has anyone got any ideas?

10.8.4 running Server and Profile Manager.
I have a simple applescript that launches a bash script. In WGM I used to have it launch on login. Now on PM I have learned I need to put it in the server's /Applications folder.
When I try to access applications while using PM from the server, I get the same error as you. If I use a web browser on my Mac there is no error but the box stays empty (saying 'Loading Applications') with no apps in it.
Similar errors as yours show in the server's Console in either case. Ruby is crashing.
Will go looking for a script to look at...
thanks,
chris

SMC was working fine for me before installing 121308-12. Then it began throwing the following upon startup of SMC and would not recognize any hosts with the webconsole service running. Backing it out does restore operation. Has anyone else seen this?

  • FBUS Communication 3.1 manager crashes with AT card

I have version 3.1 of the communications manager which works fine with an application that is written which uses the old NI-FBUS API (the C functions).  On a different appliction which is coded up in a new application which uses the new NI-API (.NET code) the FBUS communications manager 3.1 crashes.  I have an AT FBUS card and wonder if that is a source of the problem.   That being that verions 3.1 of the FBUS Communications manager it is not compatible with an AT card.  I thought someone told me they "figured out a way" to get the communications manager version 3.1 to work on the old AT card???  So question #1 is an AT card compatbile with FBUS communication manager 3.1?
When FBUS communications manager crashes it is very random and doesn't seem tied to a device under test.  It happens sometime when doing reads, sometimes when doing write....there does not seem to be a specific point or location that it fails.  Again some times it runs fine for a long time and then fails other times it fails almost right away.  I have to restart the communications manager to get it to work again and reconnect a device.  Again my old program that uses the old NI FBUS API works great on the same card with FBUS Communications manager 3.1.

AT-FBUS is compatible with CM 3.1.
Have you tried the .NET examples which are installed with NI-FBUS?

  • Got Profile Manager working with Mtn Lion, but Apple's new deployment methodology has complicated things substantially - need help!

    Hello,
We recently (a month or so ago) were able to set up OSX Server/Profile Manager/Workgroup Manager on Mtn Lion, and deploy to Mac desktops (deploy 802.1x settings and certs)
When we upgraded the OSX Server to Mavericks, everything changed - PM is different in this version.  In order to enroll devices in PM it seems you need a Device Enrollment token, to get one you need to export a public key & add it to an MDM server on Apples website & in order to do that you need to create an account with Apple.  To create that account you need your Apple Customer # & a ‘work email address’ that is not already used.  Then you have to fill out a form & wait for Apple to approve it.
We have plans to utilize MDM at some point in the future, but for now, Profile Manager works fine - are we forced to utilize MDM in order enroll devices using profile manager with Mavericks/OSX Server 3.1.1?
Thanks for any and all help,
    -Drew

    Can anyone help with this?
Do I *have* to use MDM with OSX Server 3.1.1 in order to use PM?
    Thanks,
    -Drew

  • Profile manager sign with cert not working with signed cert

    Hello all,
I purchased a Code Signed Certificate from DigiCert (Who I have many other certs with)
I downloaded it and imported it into profile manager, it origionally told me that "This certificate could not be used to sign a profile" but after a restart that error went away, but now when I click the checkbox to enable signing it tries for 5-7 seconds and then just unchecks the box, but does not show an error.
If I change back to the self signed it works fine.
Has anyone had success with DigiCert Code Signed cert? or with this issue with another cert company?
    Thank you,

    Solved.
Got it working by calling DigiCert support.
They had me get the cert from Firefox in Windows and transfer it and apply their own intermediate certificate.

save it and you have a perfect raw - lensprofile
Ok, but what does it mean rename and correct the content of the lcp file?
It remains a profile created from jpg source, CameraRaw could consider it like a raw lens profile but it has no more value than a jpg profile, I believe...

  • Desktop Manager crashes with "unknown error" message before sync starts

I have the latest phone software, the very latest version of the desktop software and I can't get the sync to get past the initialization stage before it crashes.  I've read some of the other posts about changing the synch settings but I can't even get to the settings options before it crashes.  I've uninstalled the desktop software and reinstalled it (both with and without the media manager add on).  I've done a battery pull on the phone itself.  I've even done a restore of the last good backup of the phone.
Is it just me or does this house of cards seem to collapse every time there's an update to either the desktop software or the phone software?

If you have reinstalled the software without using the clean removal procedure I recommend you
use the procedure and the install the desktop manager again. The procedure cleans the registry and
completely strips all directories etc. This will save you headaches in the long run.
Use the first procedure to check the possible causes of the "unknown error".
Is it just me or does this house of cards seem to collapse every time there's an update to either the desktop software or the phone software?
Most posts I see regarding any new desktop manager are installation and setup errors by far.
The other posts mainly are Windows OS programs that aren't updated or unique to a specific PC setup.
House of cards? I don't think there are enough cards for a double deck pinochle game.

  • Power Manager crash with with Explorer searches

    Hi,
I had the same problem with ver. 6.07 repeating over and over again during last few days. It started when I switched the Explorer file search parameter from "search file names only" to "search file names and content" (Tools > Folder Options > Search > ...).
This morning I switched back to "search file names only" and  no crashes so far...

The steps to reproduce the error are those I outlined above; the issue reproduces on my equipment 100% of the time.  With the system booted and running normally:
    1)  Click the taskbar's 'Start' button.
    2)  In the 'Search programs and files' textbox, enter any two characters (e.g. 'ab')
    3)  A Power Manager dialog is displayed stating that "Power Manager has stopped working...To search for an update that will resolve this issue, click Next..."
    4)  Click 'Next'.  A Power Manager dialog is displayed stating "No update exists to resolve this problem."
    5)  Click 'OK'.  A Power Manager dialog is displayed stating, "Lenovo is constantly working to improve driver and software quality.  Unfortunately, we did not identify a solution to this issue at this time.  It is recommended to send an Error Report to Microsoft to help track the resolution to this problem.  Click Next to report this problem
    6)  Click 'Next'.  A Windows Explorer dialog is displayed offering three options: a) 'Check online for a solution and restart the program', b) 'Restart the program', and c) 'Debug the program'.  There is also a 'View problem details' button.
    7)  Clicking the 'View problem details' button yields the following

Clicking the 'Check online for a solution and restart the program' yields no solution; it simply restarts Windows Exporer.

  • Firefox crashes on start. Profile manager also crashes. Already reset.

Firefox crashes before it even fully starts. I tried to do the profile manager trick but profile manager crashes, too. I started in safe mode and did the reset Firefox thing, that didn't help.
I deleted the cache while in safe mode.
I even uninstalled and reinstalled, twice. I tried all the options in the safe mode dialog (disable addons, Reset Toolbars, etc).
    Screenshots of the crashes:

If you disable Hardware Acceleration, does Firefox start normally? [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL#w_turning-off-hardware-acceleration|Turning off hardware acceleration]]?
Also, can you give some crash id's? type about:crashes into your address bar, and copy and paste the numbers there (they start with bp-)

My problem was with Lync Recording Manager crashing with details in the OP's first post. LRM would crash as soon as it started to process the .mp4 file. Uninstalling Citrix Receiver fixed my crash issue completely.
LRM starts to process the files in
    %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Communicator\Recording Manager\Temporary Recording Files
and would save them elsewhere when process is complete.
Another issue was that LRM would not for some reason process the files in one of the recording-folders in the above 'Temporary Recording Files' folder. You can get around this by creating a new Lync meeting with yourself, start recording, then stop recording
& exit LRM at about the same time. This will create a new temp folder to be processed by LRM. Delete files in that new folder, and copy files from your old meeting to the newly created folder to kickstart processing for the old files

  • AFP / Profile Manager / Wiki problems Lion OSx 10.8.5 Server 2.2.2

I experience strange problems with our AFP sessions after upgrading to 10.8.5 / 2.2.2 where sessions will hang and a second session is opened. Users log out correctly. Seems that iMacs coming out of sleep mode are having this issue more then the ones with sleep disabled.
Most of the time I can solve the issue by having the user logout and then disconnect all the specific sessions in the server.app but sometimes I have to completely disable AFP and enable it again to solve the problem, this action has a lot of impact on th businees though. It also happens that only one session is shown but files remain locked as if there was another session still open.
All my users have their profile on the server so when this happens they cannot open mail etc. due to files being in use by the 'hanging' session already.
The AFP error log does not show me any errors at all, other then the shutdowns of AFP to make it all work again:
    Oct  9 11:36:00 proserver AppleFileServer[1176] <Info>: Server shut down.

    Oct 15 09:52:02 proserver AppleFileServer[52848] <Info>: Server shut down.
Since the upgrade I also have a non-working Profile manager / Wiki with the infamous "Error reading settings" error. For this I see the following errors in the logs:
Oct 15 14:07:14 proserver.repod.nl Server[23468]: Error: The server '127.0.0.1' reported an error while processing a command of type: 'readSettings' in plug-in: 'servermgr_devicemgr'. This is a production server with 12 people using it daily so for me it is not the first option to take the server down and start hassling with it so I would be pleased if someone could help me to sort these issues without having to interrupt the day2day business here.
If any more information is needed, please let me know, I'll be more then happy to supply it.
