Profile storage space - Mozilla saved files location

Currently I have user with a 'Profile Storage Space ' of 30000kb on the C:Drive.. The C:Drive itself has about 100gb free but the user can't have his profile size increased..
Just to let you guys know, any personal/unshared files would be saved onto his personal F:drive with 100gb free space..
The issues my user is having when installing and using Firefox it installs fine as it saves onto his C:Drive but then when you launch Firefox it saves some cache settings etc in C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Mozilla (which is part of his profile space) and hence he gets a message your Profile Space has exceeded and delete items or else you can't logout..
So I delete this folder, run firefox again and it again imports 'something' and back to the same issue..
How can I map it so it saves this info into another location, maybe his F:Drive?
All help much appreciated..

  • Saving files, location and format

I just recently purchased a macbook pro, with the aperture software installed, and have a question reguarding the files used in the program.
I know that when you import photos, you must put them in a project, however i would like to know where this project is saved. Also, when i delete a project, if it deletes just the project and any modifications i have made to the master photos, and what happens to the master photos afterwards. Does the non destructive format follow to this as well? What about if i import from memory card to aperature, does it save a master image, and then put it in a project, or what happens?
    Thanks

When you launch Aperture, it will create a file in the Pictures folder called "Aperture Library. aplibrary"
This location can be changed from within Aperture/Preferences, but Aperture will not move this library file to the new location. If you need to move it, use Finder. If you don't move it, Aperture will create a new library in your newly chosen location when you next start Aperture. To prevent confusion, make sure you move or delete (so long as there are no required images in it) an unused library file.
I know that when you import photos, you must put them in a project, however i would like to know where this project is saved.
Aperture physically stores all images within a folder structure within this library. The library is a package, and can be navigated in Finder by right mouse clicking and choosing "Show Package Contents." When you do this, and you've imported some images, you will see some project files projectname.approject. These again are packages (groupings of file/folders). If you open one of these packages you will see a folder per image (image name)which contains the imported image, some index files and any version files for adjustment versions you may have created. Note the size of the version files are tiny, as only the rules/parameters are saved, not the image data itself ... which remains unaltered and pristine in the image name file).
Hence non-destructive editing is achieved without significant impact on disk space.
if i import from memory card to aperature, does it save a master image, and then put it in a project, or what happens?
They will be imported into the above structure under a project you are pointing at during import with that project's name. The "master" will be copied into this project and 3 - 4 support files (all small), including one that is the template to become the first version you create as you make adjustments. NOTE: Each master, its support files (metadata, index, etc), version files are all stored in one folder per master within the project package. The master is not altered or stored in a proprietary structure and so can be copied out using Finder if necessary ... although Spotlight does not scan packages that I know of.
Also, when i delete a project, if it deletes just the project and any modifications i have made to the master photos, and what happens to the master photos afterwards.
If you delete a project, or a master image within a project, the deletion is NOT undo-able within Aperture. However, the deletions do go into Trash under a folder"Aperture" You can drag and drop images out of here and re-import, or drag the project out and re-import.
    Hope this helps.

  • Backup or Storage Question and Default File Location

I just got a EX2 6TB and I am very new to this concept of cloud storage.I have my EX2 in RAID 1. I have two questions:  1) Can this product be used as both a storage and backup device or must you decide to do one or the other?1a) If you can use the EX2 as both for backup and storage - how do you do that? I want to use this primarily as storage and move files from my computer, which is full, to the EX2.  But, if I use the EX2 as storage then I assume I need a backup system - another EX2 or separate external drive. 2)  If I use the EX2 as my primary storage device how do I set my computer for all files to be saved on the EX2 without drag and drop every time for every file or all my daily work? Thanks! Mike

Hello and welcome to the WD Community.
    1) Can this product be used as both a storage and backup device or must you decide to do one or the other?
1a) If you can use the EX2 as both for backup and storage - how do you do that?
Yes, you can use that as both. Just make sure to map the drive properly and it will show within your network and you will be able to copy and paste files to it manually and to access to the drive directly.
    2)  If I use the EX2 as my primary storage device how do I set my computer for all files to be saved on the EX2 without drag and drop every time for every file or all my daily work?
Not sure if you will be able to set the unit as a primary storage for all of your applications. Some of them will not allow you to save directly to a network unit.

  • Change saved files location

Hi group. I want to send files to my 6270, via bluetooth, but the internal memory is full. How can I make my computer "see" the internal 128Mb card?

With Nokia PC Suite ( http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite ) and the File manager feature of it, perhaps.

  • Spaces in a file path

I'm not sure what to put in place of spaces in a file location. This is what I have:
do shell script "open /Users/rileylloyd/Adobe CS6 Master Collection/Adobe Photoshop CS6.app"
And this is the error I get:
    The files /Users/rileylloyd/Adobe, /CS6, /Master, /Collection/Adobe, /Photoshop, and /CS6.app do not exist.
I know usually it is %20, but I tried, it didnt work. Whats apple special version this time?

You could also use the string property quoted form of like
do shell script "open " & quoted form of "/Users/rileylloyd/Adobe CS6 Master Collection/Adobe Photoshop CS6.app"
While in this case adding the quotes isn't to difficult in more complicated constructs it can be tricky escaping just the right things.

  • Saving file to network location

    Hello all of you,
I encounter an issue with InDesign CS5 when it comes to opening and saving files to a network location. I added my company's ftp server to Windows 7 and it appears correctly in the My computer overview (there's an additional line besides the hard discs, DVD player, et cetera). The connection to the server functions fine, no issues here. No problem exists when opening files from this server from within InDesign; I can do whatever I want. Only when I try to save a file the network location isn't displayed anymore within the My computer overview in the InDesign "Save as" dialog box. The network location however appears in the pull-down menu at the top of the dialog box (and nested as part of My computer ...), but when I pick it there, it won't show the context of the server. Additionally logging onto the server (it's IP-based and anonymous logon) doesn't change a thing. Trying to save in the empty server space InDesign returns a "Can't save here" error message.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue? Building the document locally and then copying back to the server isn't a solution, because all external content that is linked in the document resides on the server.
    Best regards,
    Luc Peulen

Does anyone know how to solve this issue? Building the document locally and then copying back to the server isn't a solution, because all external content that is linked in the document resides on the server.
Scott is basically right. Lots of ID users work over network connections without issue, but if something is going wrong, it's the first place to look. I wouldn't have thought it possible to work in InDesign over a FTP connection!
If you can get Windows to access that server as if it were just another drive (using "Map network drive" in Explorer) then it should work normally. However, a generic Adobe phone tech wouldn't help you figure out why it wouldn't work - there are simply too many variables in a network environment for a generic first-level tech to figure out.
In the short term, the only solution I can suggest is:
Retrieve all of that external content that is linked in the document, and the InDesign document, at the same time, & store it on your local hard drive.
    Do your work.
    Save & package.
Upload the entire package back to the server.
Long-term, you'd need to talk to your own IT staff to troubleshoot the connection between your workstation and the FTP server. If you can get information about your network from them to post here, I bet that someone will make suggestions to pass on to your IT staff that will actually work.

  • What is the file storage space in macbook air 2012?

what is the file storage space in macbook air 2012?

it all depends on what you'll be using it for - how much apps you plan on installing - how much music you have - how much videos you plan on saving in your macbook air.
    i have a 2010 and 2012 Macbook Air - both came with 128GB - for my needs - it's fine.
As you can see from the image below - that is from my 2012 Macbook Air.  Still have lots of space left.

  • Trying to create file storage space on Azure

I want to create file storage space on azure.
I am using Powershell software with step by step example of tamram . Here is the url: azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/storage-dotnet-how-to-use-files
After you created a storage account you need to create the storage account context with the following command.
     $ctx=New-AzureStorageContext blackboxvideo KbG/0me7bFo/30iAjnqvs9DqKOcpIdEjfdOWE0ID7WBXykyys+PrEiJ8GlcryLg7DfMhI 7/spw59fhoRtOfrmw==
Then the next step is to create file share with the following command:
    $s =New-AzureStorageSharesampleshare
    -Context$ctx
When I do this I get the following error:
New-AzureStorageShare : The remote name could not be resolved: 'blackboxvideo.file.core.windows.net'
    At line:1 char:6
    + $s = New-AzureStorageShare sampleshare -Context $ctx

The file storage is activated on my profile. What am I doing wrong?
    Gerdus

Ok so 3 things, first, NEVER share your account name and private key out.
Second, go to the management interface (management.windowsazure.com), go to storage, go to this storage account and go into the manage access keys and regenerate this key (that resets it hopefully before someone has accessed it).
Third, open azure powershell and do a Get-AzureStorageAccount and check your urls and settings for the storage account.make sure your endpoints are correct.

  • Storage Spaces -error Location not available.

I have had Storage spaces running for a couple of weeks. 4 drives 3tb each, same make/model. Have them pooled into a striped "raid 5" setup thru storage spaces.  I travel and do some shift work. I frequently try to get access to them remotely
and informed that the drive pool is not accessible.  So when I get home I attempt to access it locally with same issue.
I see my pool (G:) in my drive list, I click on it no problem,  can see 1st directory, and can go into 1 folder.  If I try to do anything in that folder, go to any other folders or attempt to use any files in the root, it sits and waits and looks
like it is searching. I hear no drives spinning up and after about 2 minutes I get a pop up that says location not accessible.
In order to access the information, I need to shut computer down and reboot. Not only is this a bother, but sometimes not available remotely.
Are the drives going to sleep and not waking up?
Any help on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
    Chris

    Hello Chris,
Do you mean that you use a RAID5 drive to create a storage space, and it worked for weeks and now has the issue about ‘location not accessible’?
Please share us the whole error message and a screenshot is preferred.
Based on my test, I can normally create a storage space with 3 VHD. And it work with no accessible issue.
Please try to change ownership and permission of the drive and check if the issue still exists.
For more information about taking ownership, please take a look at the following article.

  • HT5824 I've been using numbers for iPad and I accidentally deleted a column. And the auto-save feature saved that and now I can't undo it. Does iCloud storage have backups of saved files from like 10 minutes ago? I have number

I've been using numbers for iPad and I accidentally deleted a column. And the auto-save feature saved that and now I can't undo it. Does iCloud storage have backups of saved files from like 10 minutes ago? I have numbers synced to iCloud.
I tried to undo it but the app crashed.
I am hoping there's like a previously saved version of my file in iCloud somewhere.

No, iOS does not do short term incremental back ups to iCloud such as you get with Time Capsule. It backs up when you do soo manually, or if set properly, when the device is plugged in and connected to WiFi. It will not have saved your changes as of 10 minutes prior.

  • I am receiving a notification that says that I am running out of storage space. I backed up time mating to an external hard drive. Can I delete some files to make room?

I am receiving notifications that I am running out of storage space. I backed up my mac book using an external and time machine. Can I delete some files to make room?
    If so,
When I want to restore from my time machine, can I pick and choose, say certain songs, photos or documents?

About TM "Backup Drive is Full"
Alert TM only deletes older files if they have been deleted from the source and when TM needs space on the backup drive for a new incremental backup. Time Machine "thins" it's backups; hourly backups over 24 hours old, except the first of the day; those "daily" backups over 30 days old, except the first of the week. The weeklies are kept as long as there's room.
So, how long a backup file remains depends on how long it was on your Mac before being deleted, assuming you do at least one backup per day. If it was there for at least 24 hours, it will be kept for at least a month. If it was there for at least a week, it will be kept as long as there's room.
Note, that on a Time Capsule the sparsebundle grows in size as needed, but doesn't shrink. Thus, from the user's view of the TC it appears that no space has been freed, although there may be space in the sparsebundle.
Once TM has found it cannot free up enough space for a new backup it reports the disk is full. You can either erase the backup drive and start your backups anew or replace the drive with a larger drive. You can also use the Time Machine application to selectively remove files, but that may be ineffective if you have to free up GBs of space.

  • Storage Spaces: Virtual Disk taken offline during file copy, marked as "This disk is offline because it is out of capacity", but plenty of free space

Server 2012 RC. I'm using Storage Spaces, with two virtual disks across 23 underlying physical disks.
    * First virtual disk is fixed provisioning, parity across 23 physical disks: 10,024GB capacity
    * Second virtual disk is fixed provisioning, parity across the remaining space on 6 of the same physical disks: 652GB capacity
These have been configured as dynamic disks, with an NTFS volume spanned across the two (larger virtual disk first). Total volume size 10,676GB. For more details of the hardware, and why the configuration is like this, see: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserver8gen/thread/c35ff156-01a8-456a-9190-04c7bcfc048e
I'm copying several TB from a network share to this volume. It is very slow at ~12MB/sec, but works. However, three times so far, several hours in to the file copy and with plenty of free space remaining, the 10,024GB virtual disk is suddenly taken offline.
This obviously then fails the spanned volume and stops the file copy.
The second time, I took screenshots, below. The disk (Disk27) is marked offline due to "This disk is offline because it is out of capacity". And the disk in the spanned volume is marked as missing (which is what you would expect when one of its member disks
    is offline).
I can then mark the disk (Disk27) back online again, and this restores the spanned volume. I can then re-start the file copy from where it failed. There doesn't appear to be any data loss, but it does cause an outage that requires manual attention. As you
can see, there is plenty of space left on the spanned volume.
Each time this has happened, there are a few event 150 errors in the System event log: "Disk 27 has reached a logical block provisioning permanent resource exhaustion condition.". Source: Disk.

This error seems to be related to thin provisioning of disks. I found this:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/hh848068(v=vs.85).aspx. But both these Virtual Disks are configured as Fixed, not Thin provisioning, so it shouldn't apply.
My thoughts: the virtual disk should not spuriously go offline during a file copy, even if it was out of space. And in any case, there is plenty of free space remaining. Also, I don't understand the reason for why it is marked as offline ("This disk is offline
because it is out of capacity"). Why would a disk go offline because it was out of thin capacity, rather than just returning an "out of disk space" error while keeping it online.

Interesting Thread, I've been having the same issue. I had a failed hardware RAID that was impossible to recover in place, so after being forced to do a 1:1 backup, I find myself with 5 2TB hard drives to play with. Storage Spaces seemed like an interesting
way to go until I started facing the issues we share.
So my configuration is A VM Running Windows Server 2012 RC with 5 Virtualized Physical drives using a SCSI interface, 2TB in size that make up my storage pool. A Single Thinly provisioned Disk of 18 TB (using 1 disk for parity)
Interestly enough, write speed has not been an issue on this machine (30~70MB/s, up from 256k on the beta)
Of note to me is this error in my event log 13 minutes before the drive disappeared:
"The shadow copies of volume E: were deleted because the shadow copy storage could not grow in time.Consider reducing the IO load on the system or choose a shadow copy storage volume that is not being shadow copied."Source: volsnap, Event ID: 25, Level: Error
    followed by:
"The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur in VolumeId: E:, DeviceName: \Device\HarddiskVolume17.(The physical resources of  this disk have been exhausted.)"Source: Ntfs (Microsoft-Windows-Ntfs), Event ID: 140, Level: Warning
I figure the amount of space available to me before I start encountering physical limits is in the vicinity of about 7TB. It dropped out for the second time at 184 GB.
FYI, the number of columns created for me is 5

    Steven Blom

  • Files in Storage Spaces taking WAY too much space

If you look at the following two Images:
You'll notice that while I have only 629 GB of files on the Storage Space, it is taking up an astounding 2.45 TB in my Storage Space. With the two-way mirror I have set up it should only be about 1.26 TB. I'm not sure can someone explain as to why my files
are taking up 4X the amount of space they should?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi,
I made a test in our test enviroment, it seems like the phenomenon you encountered is system design by default.
Generally speaking, when you create a new storage pool, and put some file into it. The value of Using *** pool capacity should 3X bigger than the practical capacity. While if you set the Storage Pool too big, it would produce error. The greater the
    number, the greater the error.

  • Using powershell to manipulate mapi profile and PST file locations

I have a situation whereby I need to move a bunch of PST files out of the default location in Office 2010 and change the mapi profile for the user so that the pst file location updated so the user doesn't experience any issues when launching Outlook.
My logic flow is as follows:
1.) locate All pst files referenced in the logged on users MAPI profile.
2.) Move these files to a another directory eg. c:\users\%username%\OutlookFiles
3.) Update the MAPI profile to point to the new location so that when the user launches Outlook he doesn't notice that the files have been moved.
I know how to copy the files using powershell etc. but how on earth do you query the MAPI profile to locate the pst files and then change each entry for a PST file to point to the new location.
    Anyone got any ideas?

What you are trying to do cannot normally be done with a script due to a whole host of reasons including differences in versions and lack of access to a users profile.
    !. Are you on Exchnage?
    2. Have you redirected the users folders with Group Policy yet?
Outlook OST files are not movable without the use of a third party tool.  It is far easier to just have the users create a new profile.
PST files that are attached in a user session can be moved using a script that can be run by the user.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
