Program hangs when instantiating a DataSource

Hello everyone !
I am sorry to disturb you with a silly question. I have done some research but I am unable to solve this by myself. I am a JMF beginner, and I am trying to stream wav files with the RTP protocol. Sadly, I can't get to create a DataSource, because the program hangs here :
public Streamer(String rtpaddress, String filepath)
        mediaLocator = new MediaLocator(rtpaddress);
        System.out.println("-> Created media locator: '" +
                       mediaLocator + "'");
          try
               URL url;
               url = new URL("http://127.0.0.1/sound.wav");
               DataSource source = Manager.createDataSource(
                      new MediaLocator(url)); // Program hangs here!
              System.out.println("-> Created data source: '" +
                                     url + "'");
             // set the data source.
             setDataSource(source);
             System.out.println("-> Set the data source on the transmitter");
             // start the processor
             mediaProcessor.start();
             // open and start the data sink
             dataSink.open();
             dataSink.start();
          catch (Exception e)
                { // Exceptions, etc... }I am quite sure my mistake is obvious : still, I have spent a lot of time trying to figure it out and I haven't.
Thanks in advance for your help !

  • Menubar programs hanging when multiple accts. logged in

    Hi all:
    I am having a weird problem I can't seem to find a solution for.
    I have three accounts set up on my iBook, of which all three accounts are usually logged in. We use Fast User Switching all the time. I have had this iBook since Feb 2006, but in the last three weeks a strange problem has cropped up. When I am logged into more than one account and leave the computer sitting for a while, all of the icons and programs on the menubar (clock, spotlight, airport, battery, FUS, volume, and bluetooth) hang and become inaccessible. When I put my cursor up there I get the spinning wheel of death. I don't think it's a finder problem because the standard menus on the left side of the menubar work, as does opening windows and programs from the finder and relaunching the finder does nothing to correct it. My energy saver gets hosed, airport won't connect to my base station, and I can't switch users. Has anyone else seen this behavior? I have reinstalled OS X twice; first time with an erase and install and replacing new users with backups I made; second time erase and install and only copying over essential files like music, photos, movies, and some apps. I only saw it fixed on the second install, but two days after doing so the problem started up again. It's annoying, because the only way to get things working again is to logout of the current user and login under another acct., but half the time when I do that none of the right side programs ever start—I am left with a blank menubar on the right side. The other half of the time I have to shutdown, only the computer never shuts down and I have to perform a hard restart (power button held down until system shuts off). I don't want to keep doing that because I don't want ot fry my HD.
    Does anyone have any ideas? You help is greatly appreciated!

  • Hanging when switching between programs?

    Is there a soluton to programs hanging when switching between one program to another?

    Safe Mode deletes some system caches that may help..
    Startup your Mac in Safe Mode
    A Safe Mode boot takes longer than a normal boot so be patient.
    Once you are in Safe Mode, click Restart from the Apple () menu then try switching between applications.

  • When I plug my headphones into the headphone/optical out jack programs hang

    I have an iMac 20 inch LCD. On the back their is a jack with a picture of headphones, but it is also labeled as "optical out". I plug my headphones in and they work. Great. That is not my problem today.
    My problem is that whenever I plug the headphones in or unplug them, iTunes (and other apps using audio) hangs and when I try to adjust the volume with the keyboard buttons nothing happens for 15 seconds or more and then the volume changes, not that anything is able to play. If I wait for a minute or so then all my applications start working fine again and I am able to hear my music and adjust the volume.
    What in the world is going on?
    1.8 Ghz G5 1.25GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Thank you. That is good information.
    Does this mean that there is nothing I can do about the delay? When I think of a delay, I think of maybe 10 seconds. I am having to wait for a minute or more for my audio to switch. While I wait, I have no audio and any audio program hangs. Is there a setting I can change? It seems rather ridiculous that I have to wait so long just to switch from internal speakers to headphones.
    It is like this on other Mac machines? Or it is just my iMac? I hate to compare Mac to Windows, but on Windows or Linux computers the switch is instantaneous.

    No answers, but some more questions:
    Before diving into the JNI stack trace, what does "hang" mean? Are there other threads running in your program? Is this the main thread?
    Looking at the stack -- and Googling libhpi.so didn't turn up much for me, other than similar complaints -- it looks like it's an output routine. What are you writing to? A local disk, or one that's remote mounted?
    Edit: absolute speculation here, but I suspect that it's a routine that's called when an in-memory buffer's full, in order to physically write the data onto whatever medium you're writing too. So probably not worth looking for an actual "buffer overflow" that's damaging memory.

  • LabView (8.2) hangs when using I/O operations with traditional NI-DAQ 7.4.4 after aborting LabView program

    Hello!
    We have the following problem:
    LabView (8.2) hangs when using I/O operations with traditional NI-DAQ 7.4.4 after aborting LabView program
    We freshly installed LabView 8.2 (2006) and NI-DAQ 7.4.4 on a PC running Windows XP (Service Pack 3). We built a larger vi that remotely controls a traditional NI-DAQ card (AT-AO-10) on a second PC via NI-VISA 5.0.3. We were successfully running this program until a power failure caused the first computer to crash. After this crash we were unable to start the program again: LabView freezes while loading the vi. LabView itself can be started but freezes when adding I/O operations from the NI-DAQ palette to a block diagram.
    We have tried to re-install NI-DAQ 7.4.4, but it did not help. We then re-installed all NI software, but still no improvement. In the end we decided to reinstall ALL software, first Windows XP, then LabView and finally NI-DAQ 7.4.4. This worked. However, after a few days of running the program we had to abort LabView via Windows Task manager and afterward we again experienced the same problem as before: LabView freezes when loading the program.
    Obviously, we cannot afford to reinstall Windows every time. Are there any known Windows XP / NI-DAQ issues that might cause the freezing of LabView? We would be very grateful for any idea.
    Best regards,
    Matthias

    Hello Sprice,
    Browse the shipping examples according to “Directory Structure” and then select
    DAQ to find the Traditional DAQ examples.
    There a lot of examples that are written for counters (Counter >>

    == This happened ==
    A few times a week
    == Not sure when it statrted

    Hi.
    When this happens, please press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and see how much RAM and CPU Firefox is using. If they're sky high, then... Well, that kind of issues are, unfortunately, more common and the we'd like. Thankfully, 99% of the cases are very easy to solve. However, you do need to diagnose what your exact problem is. Do this:
    #run Firefox in safe-mode to disable all extensions and plugins. If this fixes your issues, be them with RAM or CPU usage, then you know it's a problem with plugins or extensions. Proceed to number 2. If safe-mode doesn't fix the issues, then read bellow, after this list;
    #update all extensions and plugins in your Firefox. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
    #disable all extensions and plugins in your Firefox (not running safe-mode). Being certain that, as in safe-mode, the problems you're having have gone away, enable one plugin at a time. You should be certain that you WANT that plugin to be enabled, so keep your overall number of plugins as low as possible. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic plugin, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all plugins (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all.
    #enable one extension at a time. Again, be certain that you WANT that extension to be enabled, so keep your overall number of extensions as low as possible. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic extension, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all your extensions (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all;
    #you're done! You've fixed your problems with problematic add-ons.
    Ok, if disabling all extensions and plugins through safe-mode didn't work to bring Firefox's CPU and RAM usage to good levels, then you have different issue. The most likely scenario is that you have a third party software running on your computer that is messing with Firefox. Do as follows:
    #do a virus/malware check on your computer. If this doesn't fix it, proceed;
    #disable all software running in the background that you don't want to have running in the background (in windows, this is done by pressing WINDOWS+R in your keyboard, typing "msconfig" (without the commas) and pressing enter. Now, under the "Startup" tab, you can uncheck the software you don't want, and reboot your system for changes to take effect. If you're unsure of what software you want running, ask someone with more experience). If this doesn't fix you issues with Firefox, proceed;
    #check your firewall/antivirus/security suite for enabled functions/features that you don't want and/or may be conflicting with Firefox. You'll find that these features are most likely tied to Internet Security features, such as link scanners or URL checkers and the like. If you're not sure they are conflicting with Firefox, simply try to disable to see whether or not that's true. As long as you don't browse the web with your antivirus completely off and your firewall completely turned off, there should be no problems. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
    #check your operating system security options, mainly advanced options that are not configured by default. While it's very unlikely that this may be the cause of the problem (after all, it's the last item on the list), it's remotely possible. If this doesn't do it, I'm out of ideas. Except make sure you've followed my instructions correctly.

  • Encore Hangs When Program Returns To Focus

    I'm having a lot of problems with Encore CS5 and performance. This is an 8-core system with 8GB RAM.
    Anytime Encore CS5 loses program focus and then you turn to it, CPU utilization jumps to 25% across all 8 cores, and it just hangs for almost 2 minutes. Everytime. Yes, there may be some pause as PSDs update and such, but this is ridiculous.
    Anyone have this problem?

    Is Encore less likely to hang when it imports a Premier project from a file, as opposed to a dynamic link? It still has several months of my work hostage and can't produce a DVD, or even an disk image. Also, based on another thread, (of many that are finding problems in Encore), is there a chance this doesn't handle m4v audio? Lastly, does anyone know of another DVD authoring application that can import native Premier files? I have no idea why Encore is included in a suite of professional applications, and need to find an alternative that works.

  • FF hangs when trying to save pdf files

    Adobe pdf documents open fine but when I try to save a copy, FF hangs (hourglass, stops responding). Right-click and "Save link as" also hangs.
    Under Tools->Options, if I select either "General" or "Applications", it hangs. All add-ons (there are only a few) are disabled, safe mode makes no difference.
    Sometimes, I can right-click on FF on the taskbar and close it, but usually I have to use the task list to kill it.
    IE (ugh) handles pdfs fine. I've changed the download directory, cleared the download history, cleared browsing history/private data, no change.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Can't correlate to a particular update, since I don't always open pdfs

    I tried uninstalling and re-installing FF 3.6.6 and then uninstalling and replacing it with 4.0beta. The program hangs under the following conditions (that I've found so far):
    Load pdf (I can no longer even view them)
    Click on "Tools>Options"
    Import bookmarks from an HTML file
    This happens with a clean install of FF, no changes whatsoever to the default configuration.
    On my home computers, FF works great, it's just here on my work machine. No coworkers have reported similar troubles with the same software. Is there a way I can figure out if another program is causing weird things to happen? Some diagnostic I can run that will indicate where FF is having trouble? Any assistance would be really appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Printer driver hangs when printing with Office 2013/Windows 8 64 bit

    Printer: HP Color LaserJet CM1312nfi
    Printer Driver: V5.1 (up to date, downloaded from HP support website) or Generic V5.6
    OS: Windows 8 Professional 64bit
    When I try to print a certain Excel document with Excel 2013 and printer driver V5.1, the program hangs and needs to be terminated via task manager. This happens always with the same document, but not with all documents. The program hangs also when opening the print preview for the same document.
    The same document prints fine with the generic printer driver V5.6 and with the driver that comes with Windows 8.
    The same document prints fine with driver V5.1 under Windows 7 and Office 2010. The combination Windows 7/Office 2013 was not tested. The combination Windows 8/Office 2010 was also not tested.
    When I try to print an empty document with Word 2013 and generic printer driver V5.6, the program hangs and needs to be terminated via task manager.
    My conclusion is that the HP printer drivers have a problem with either Windows 8 or Office 2013 or a combination of both.
    The printer driver that comes with Windows 8 and is automatically installed is useful as a temporary workaround, but it lacks certain options, e.g. manual duplex.
    On request, I am ready to send the Excel document by e-mail for verification of the problem.
    Any help or suggestions will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Uli

    From what you describe you are having issues printing from MS Office. Have you had trouble printing from other resources on your computer (e.g. from the internet or another program)? The first thing I am going to suggest is that we start by uninstalling and reinstalling the printer from the resources available online.
    First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it (this is important). Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
    In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.

  • Windows 7 hangs when creating a new folder and hangs again when renaming it.

    Ok, so I have a problem where Windows 7 hangs when creating a new folder and hangs again when renaming it.
    I have documented this problem on my blog here:
    Windows 7 hangs when creating a new folder and hangs again when renaming it Rhyous's 127.0.0.1 or ::1
    This has my hardware details, etc...
    I consider myself an expert at troubleshooting (being in support for over 10 years including time as a Lead Technician doing Windows 2000 support focussing on performance), and have checked quite a few things to try to pinpoint this issue, but I just can't find the cause.
    I am asking others if they have seen this issue. I need to know if it is only on my workstation, or if others are seeing it as well.
    Have you ever right-clicked, chose new folder and then had to wait 45 seconds for a new folder to appear.
    Then the same thing when you try to rename the new folder, a hang of about 45 seconds before the new name take affect.
    Anyway, let me know if you have experienced ths.

    Hi,
    I suggest you temporarily uninstall the antivirus program to check the issue. You need to make sure that you have the installation file to reinstall it later.
    If it does not work, I suggest you also test the issue in Safe Mode and Clean Boot to determine if this is a hardware or a software issue.
    Good luck!

  • Disk Utility hangs when erasing external disk

    In Time Machine I wasn't able to figure out how to attach an external drive via USB. I guessed that it probably wouldn't work on a MS-DOS filesystem, so I started Disk Utility, which I never have used before. I have formatted disks before on Linux and on Windows, so it's nice to see a great app for this.
    In the Time Machine brief help text, there is not mentioned what kind of filesystem that is required or if it work with any filesystem. So I searched, and it seems as if HFS+ journaled case-insensitive is the filesystem that one should choose. Can anyone confirm this?
    When I click erase then the Disk Utility program hangs and I see the spinning beachball. The Activity Monitor program shows that disk activity stops after a few seconds. There is no more activity, so after 5 minutes I stop the program.
    I have tried several times, and I see the same behavior. I even tried restarting the computer. But no luck.
    Now my external disk no longer shows that it's a MS-DOS filesystem, but shows that it's HFS+ journaled case-insensitive. Probably not ok so far. I try creating a single patition, with format: HFS+ journaled case-insensitive, without OS 9 drivers installed. When I click apply then spinning beachball again and diskactivity stops after a few seconds, and I stop the program after some minutes where it has been inactive.
    My guess is that the disk-erasing task failed and has left the disk in a broken state. During this task Disk Utility began to hang for a reason that I don't know.
    My second guess to why the create-partition task failed, is that the disk is in a broken state, and thus the partition cannot be created, and Disk Utility hangs.
    How do I format the external disk from the command line?

    In Disk Utility, select the drive mechanism (not the volume on it) and click the Partition button. Use the Options button to choose the GUID partition scheme, then make one HFS+ (Journaled) volume.
    There is no point in using the command line for this task, because if Disk Utility cannot deal properly with the disk, Mac OS X will not either. Disk Utility is using diskutil to do the partitioning and formatting.

  • LR 4.4.1 on Win 8.1 suddenly started to hang when importing via usb from camera

    I'm running LR 4.4.1 on Win 8.1 on a fairly new toshiba laptop. Worked fine for a few months; but then I have been unable to solve the problem of Lightroom hanging when I try to import directly from my camera via USB. If I download pics from the camera using file manager, and then point LR at the new folder [once the camera is unplugged], it can then see the folder on the hard drive and will import them without issues. But if the camera is installed, going to the import screen hangs the application.
    I have tried:
    deleting the lock file
    installing and  running LR 5
    reinstalling LR 4disabling all the usb drivers, rebooting, and enabling
    disabling everything in the start menu
    deleting the preferences file and letting LR build a new one..
    I can import from the SD card reader, but I nervous about that as I have had card corrupted before and lost pics when downloading that way with other laptops.
    The camera is a Sony NEX-5N.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
