Programmatic Detection of NI-IMAQ Devices In LabVIEW

Is there a way to programmatically detect what IMAQ interfaces are attached to a PC? Obviously this is possible through IMAQdx for 1394, Gigabit, DirectShow, but I've never seen this done using a plain vanilla Analog input. My goal is to have a program that allows a user to specify what type of video interface he is using for a specific test. He will have three options, NTSC analog, 1394, and HD-SDI. Detecting the 1394 and HD-SDI is relatively easy due to the "Enumerate Camera" VI that is provided with the vision acquisition, but its not clear how to do this with analog I/F's.
To summarize I am trying to programmatically detect in LabVIEW the interface labeled Channel 0 and circled in red below. Thanks for any input.

Unfortunately, there currently is not an IMAQ property node that queries your system for all IMAQ PCI devices. However, there is a possible work around for this. In LabVIEW under the Measurement I/O»MAX Configuration palette there is a VI called MAX Generate Report.VI that generates a report of all the hardware and software listed in MAX. You could use this VI to generate an html report, then read the report in as a text document, and then use string manipulation to parse the report to get relevant information. This is a bit of a work around and may take some unnecessary process time, but it would allow you to pragmatically determine what hardware you have installed on your machine.

Hi all,
I'm using Labview 8.0 to control a system which contains a USB DAQ device (9215A BNC for info). I can control everthing fine and use the DAQ card, but the software I'm writing will ultimately be supplied (as an executable or the like) with the system for use on end user computers. Its possible that some of the end users may already have NI DAQ cards installed in their systems. How can I make sure my software addresses only the DAQ card inside my system? Is there a simple way of programmatically listing all of the devices attached to the computer and then identifying the one that I want?
If I name the device in NI MAX, for example, if I then plug it into a different computer, does it maintain that name? Or is that a local thing only?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for the second reply. What I basically wanted was some way of finding the "device name" of the DAQ device in my system when its connected to a computer with multiple other DAQ devices attached. Ultimately, I did something similar to what you sent in that second example (see attached) which scans through the serial numbers of the DAQ devices attached to the computer and compares them with the serial number (entered manually) of my device. It then returns the device name that matches, so I can pass that to whatever future daq commands need it!

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Since I downloaded the last version of iTunes my PC doesn't detect any of my devices (ipad, ipod, iphone). If you get to the part where it asks you to uninstall iTunes, even though you have done it before, be sure to uninstall iTunes and the other components in the order listed.

My computer won't detect any of my devices

Hello everyone,
I've been having this issue for a long time now. In april, I got a windows 8 computer. Everything works perfectly fine. It always detected my ipod classic (despite it being old), my ipad first generation and my iphone 4. After updating to ios7 my computer stopped detecting my phone. No matter what I did it wouldn't detect it. About a month ago I synced my ipod classic and it worked perfectly fine. Around two nights ago, I plugged in my ipod and my ipad and it wouldn't detect it. my ipad would say 'not charning' and the ipod would in fact be charging. I've seen plenty of forums how you need to delete itunes and the mobile support thing and reinstall but it isn't helping me much. I did that already but itunes still doesn't detect any of my devices. i ran a test that itunes has, the diagnostics one and despite my phone being connected, it says 'no iphone,ipod or ipad found.' my phone charges when plugged but it's really annoying to not be able to sync any of my devices. Does anybody have an alternative or something else I can do? Thanks.

What operating system are you running on your E330 and X230?
The answer may be found by figuring out why it works on the E330...
Have you tried to use any other devices in the USB ports besides those 2?
And were the recognized?
Did these devices ever work with your X230?
You could try to roll back to a previous driver update and see if that helps?

Itunes will not detect any of my devices. Any suggestions? I've shut down and restarted, turned devices off and on. Not sure what else to do.

If your device is not recognized by iTunes, I would recommend the steps in the article below. Start with the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver. If the issue persists try all remaining steps.

Functions in IMAQ Vision for Labview same as those in Vision Builder?

Hi all...
i just have a simple question..Does IMAQ Vision for Labview has the same functions of Vision Builder?
I know that with Vision Builder you can develop an application interactively...but does it has more functions than IMAQ Vision?
So if i buy IMAQ Vision can i develop the same kind of applications that i would make with Vision Builder?
I´m specially interested in color matching and color analisys functions.

IMAQ Vision has much more than Vision Builder. Basically, VB was created using Vision and they implemented a good number of the functions in a menu driven format. However, there are many more functions available that were not integrated into VB.
Vision does have some good color matching and analysis tools.

How to communicate with third party bluetooth device using LAbVIEW

      I am trying to communicate with a third party bluetooth device using LabVIEW, I am using a bluetooth dongle. I am able to discover the device and able to open the connection by specifying the service as serial port. But after that when I am trying to read and write data between LabVIEW and the bluetooth device (using Bluetooth Read & Bluetooth Write functions) its not happening.
Dose anybody faced same kind of issue if so kindly guide me, this is first time I am using Blutooth protocol.

Hi,
I am able to talk with bluetooth / serial devices by using Labview protocol (not Wii dll). These are steps:
      Discover the bluetooth device in range (Bluetooth dicover.vi)
      Get the address of the device
      Pass device address to Bluetooth RFCOMM Service Discovery.vi to get service list
      Pass channel and uuid to Bluetooth open connection
      After that do write and read (Bluetooth Write / Bluetooth read).

SB Live! Value Detected as a "VGA Device&qu

I have an SB Li've! Value OEM, the card says the model is CT4830, and the chip is the EMU0K-NEF.
I cant get it to work on windows 2k or XP... in Win 9x works well with the CDs drivers, but in windows XP, the Windows installs is own drivers, without errors or problems, but the card dont work, the drivers hangs when they try to reproduce any sound.
So I try with the Creative Drivers... i cant get to install any of then, i get the "Setup caould not detect any Sound Blaster card on your system".
I also try with the Li'veDrvUni-Pack and the fix and manual install to add compatibility, but is the same thing...
So, a friend recomend me the KX drivers, I installed then, the KX drivers says is a EMU0K-CT4832...
But happens the same thing that with the Windows drivers, it simply dont work out...
But the card works well in WIN 9x with CD drivers, the CD have drivers for win 95 and NT...
For some strange reason, the first time that i plug the card, Windows says: "New Hardware Found-> VGA Device", and then update the info to the Windows own Sound Blaster Li've, Valor, drivers...
I try on 3 pcs in diferrent slots, and is the same thing... and yes on all of then and reported as "VGA device" in the begining, well i hear about that could be a EEPROM corruption, but with that is still possible for the card to work on Windows 9x? because is still working on 9x... but only with cd drivers...
Some years ago, back in 2002 (i buy the card in 2000), the card worked on Windows 2000 and XP, with the default windows drivers, the sound card was the only thing that work without do anything just after windows install over, but some day, without a reason, the card stop working on XP and I never get to work again, but thats it, EEPRON corruption...
So i decided to try with a program called WPCREDIT to check my EEPROM...

My subsystem ID is 8027, and even there is detected as "VGA Compatible" LOL!
But wait, in the drivers .inf files, say that is the correct Susbsystem ID for my card... so why is detected as a VGA device then?Message Edited by Shivansps on 02-23-200707:29 AM

That's really the first time I hear about such a problem... It may be a problem with the motherboard... Windows 98 doesn't use ACPI by default as XP, so if your board is old and not?fully ACPI compliant, it could explain the problems you are havingonly under newer OSs. (But I am no expert on the subject, it is just a speculation). If possible, also try to update your BIOS. Also regarding the drivers, Creative's Installer doesn't allow the drivers to install on OEM versions, so you must always run the installation manually. EDIT:? try the other option in wi-fi .. go to Settings >> Wi-fi >> under Choose a Network tap on "Other" .. type the name of your wi-fi router then tap on the "None" in Security... choose what type of encryption you're using (WPA/WEP etc) ..type in the security key ... then tap "Join""... let me know if its works for you...

Programmatically detect if working in RAC mode?

How can I programmatically detect if database is running in RAC mode. I found solution with dbms_utility.is_cluster_database but my boss wants to know is there any other solution. So is there :)

I am not fully sure of what you actually are looking for. The only devices we have which supports simultaneous sampling are the S-series devices and the DSA boards.
You can see if any of these boards are present in your system by using the system property and getting the device names and input the device names in the device property to get the product type. The product type will give tell you the name of the board as in PCI-6110.
