Programmatically Importing Reports and Creating Business Elements

I am working on a project that requires creating new Business Objects environments from time to time. At the moment, we have a dedicated person creating the Business Elements and importing reports manually and it is a time consuming and error prone task. We want to store the report template .rpt files as well as the configuration of all their dependencies in source control and be able to re-create a new environment as a step in the deployment script.
We manually import report templates using the Central Management Console and we manually define the dependencies using the Business View Manager. Are the APIs of these applications open?
Is this possible to programmatically create environments with report templates, business elements and all other dependencies?

You are able to publish a report to Enterprise through the SDK, a sample is available [here|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/c0cdcdd6-c21e-2d10-019c-9f9ddd4ff336]
You are also able to create and modify reports through the SDK, samples are available [here|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/JavaRASSDK+Samples#JavaRASSDKSamples-ReportModification]
Lastly, there is no SDK that deals with Business Views.  This also relates to being able to create new reports through code, as we are not able to create a new report from scratch based on a Business View through the SDK.  It must first be created in the designer to create the connection.  You could then publish it to Enterprise and modify the report.

  • How to export and import reports and presentations?

    Hi Guys,
how to export and import reports and presentations from Analyzer 7.2 to Web Analysis 11.1.1.
Can you plz tell me the procedure.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Like I mentioned earlier, you can export documents and presentations to local computers and/or mapped drives.
    - Exported documents take ARD extension & presentations take APT extension.
To export the current document, select File, then Export, then Current Document. In the Save dialog box, indicate your local drive/network location to which the file is to be saved and click OK.
I believe- Analyzer 7.2 also has the wizard to let you Export docs. & Presentations.

  • Import reports and forms

i have installed PCM14 and BI Publisher, when i want to import reports and forms in PCM administrition, problem happened, " data model definition not found for "us/sql/        ",how to do it?Primavera Contract Management User Community

Hi Liu, It could be a bunch of things, but as a start point I would suggest: 1) The Reports & Forms path being entered in Contract Management Administration is incorrect.  If working with Multi-Project Reports or Group Level Letter Templates, the incorrect path may be located in the Primavera Administrator Utility (admincm.cmd). 2) Make note of the data model or report being referenced in the error message.  Locate that affected data model or report on the BI Publisher server, and remove it.  Then attempt to Import Reports and Forms again. • Importing Reports and Forms from Oracle to Portals

    Hi,
I have read somewhere that it is possible to import all ready created reports and forms from Oracle and view them as a Portlet in Portals. Is this actually possible and if so where do I begin??
Could there be an issue with rights, this is all new to our DBA and we have only just got permission to publish forms created in Portals to the repository. Any ideas??

Welcome to the forum. Please take a while to go through the FAQ to be found to the top right of the page.
Your issue is more to do with batch files rather than Forms. The only relation with Forms, as I see it, is that you will be using HOST/CLIENT_HOST to start a batch file with the file name to be deployed as a parameter passed to it.
You need to rewrite either a CMD batch file or a Powershell script to achieve what have set out to do.
For CMD batch files look up http://www.robvanderwoude.com/battech.php , or any of the other excellent resources available on the internet.

  • Portal Activity Reporting and SAP Business Warehouse

    Hi,
Does anyone out there know if SAP has or plans in the near future to deliver Portal Activity Reporting content via SAP Business Warehouse?
I would have thought BW would have been the ideal solution to enable some "out of the box" Portal Content in terms of extracting the data from the tables used for the Portal Activity reports, and then extracting them to BW for slicing/dicing & Presentation.
The current standard Portal Activity reporting does not supply what we need. We don't want to spend time and money developing this ourselves if SAP has plans to deliver it in the near future.
    Any news please?
    Cheers, Phil G.

    Hi,
Check this blog which tells about the future of Activity Reporting..

  • How to import catalog and create new link to folder in a new external disk

I lost my data in my laptop. I have a back-up into an external hd. Now I would like to import the catalog and change the link of folder to external disk

You can open the backup of your catalog file by copying it to wherever you want it to be and then double-click on it.
You would have to re-link all the photos inside of Lightroom using these instructions: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders

  • Custom Image Capture that Auto Imports the OS WIM and Creates a New Task Sequence

We just finished a consulting project where our customer requested an easy solution to capture thick images.  After hearing their reasoning it made sense for their circumstances.  The people that
will be managing the system will be non-technical and all they wanted was a very, very simple method of capturing and deploying images with no learning curve.   They wanted the ability to Deploy the images via PXE.
This quickly became both our easiest scope project but making MDT simple for non-technical users can be challenging.   The MDT capture and staging steps are pretty easy for tech savvy person but for non-technical people it presented a learning
curve that the customer wanted simplified. They didn’t want to understand sysprep, capture, importing an OS and then creating a Task Sequence to reference that new image.
So we changed the scope of our project to automate MDT to perform additional steps following the capture that would:
Automatically Import the Captured OS into the MDT Deployment Share
Automatically Create a new Task Sequence that references the newly imported image
Auto Name the Task Sequence with the Model Name, Date and Time of Capture
    The Final Solution:
Customer will setup a Windows PC Thick Image (All software and drivers)
The customer will Kick-off the Sysprep and Capture Task Sequence
The customized Task Sequence will capture, import the new image, and create a new TS with the new image
Customer can then PXE boot a new computer and Deploy the image or stage to media and deploy the image
We were able to remove the import OS and create new task sequence steps and this simplified it for our customer considerably.  If anyone is interested in this functionality
let me know and I can send you instructions.  We used Vbscript, Powershell and PSExec.exe from PowerShell.  It seems to being working pretty good so far

  • Using HR data in R/3 to create business partners in Solution Manager

Is it OK for me to setup Solution Manager to automatically download HR data from R/3 to create the Business Partners (employee role) in Solution Manager?
We have setup SAP CRM 4.0 to automatically download the HR data and create Business Partners (employee role) in CRM.  Since Solution Manager has the CRM component in it, I assume we can do it as well in Solution Manager.

  • Creating Business Object Reports and Dashboards utilizing Informatica

I need to create Business Object Reports and Dashboards utilizing Informatica database. Please let me know what connections I need to create to integrate the data into Web Intelligence, Universe, Xcelsius, and Crystal Reports.
    Thank you

I've just done some quick checking and I don't see a native connection type for Infomatica in Designer or Crystal.  (Designer is a tool for building universes - WebI and Xcelsius both read data through a universe, Crystal can read data through a direct connection to the database or through a universe.) This means you'll probably have to set up a "generic" ODBC connection in order to connect to it.

Premiere Elements 13 on Windows 7 (presumed 64 bit).....
    1. Music files and error message...are these music files from iTunes? If so, convert them to .wav in iTunes to convert them to wav version, and then import the .wav version into Premiere Elements 13 project using Premiere Elements 13 Expert workspace's Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets from where you drag the wav version to the Soundtrack.
The following are the instructions for the iTunes converting
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT1550
If any problems with the instructions, please let me know, and I will go through them with you.
    2. How you set up the project and the export settings that you select greatly influence your end product result.
    a. What are the properties of the source media?
    b. What project preset did you (manually) or the project (automatically) set to match the properties of the source media.
(If you do not know, please tell us what you see for the readings of Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, Pixel Aspect Ratio - even
if the fields look grayed out.)
    c. For your export...Publish+Share/Computer/and then what? And what preset? Did you use the default settings of the preset or did you
customize the export settings of the preset under the preset's Advanced Button/Video Tab and Audio Tab?
Let us start here and then decide what next.
    Thanks.

  • In Adobe premiere elements 12 it wont let me add a m4a file. It says that "the importer reported a generic error". Please help.

please help, I need to make a video and cant get in my music.

For background information, what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on?
I could ask you for a lot of details to build a troubleshooting plan. However, in this instance with .m4a file and "importer reported a generic error", I am going to cut to what I believe your workflow problem to be.
You are working with iTunes music. To use them in Premiere Elements (any version), please convert them to .wav file in iTunes.
    To do that....
    a. Open iTunes and go to Music - File Menu/Add File To Library
    b. Edit Menu/Preferences/General and there click on Import Settings
    c. In the Import Settings dialog, go to Import Using and set for WAV Encoder.
    d. OK out of that area.
In the Music Section/Songs, right click your import, select Create WAV Version
Then right click the WAV Version, select Copy, and then Paste it to the computer desktop
from where you import it into Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets
from where you drag it to one of the audio tracks.
Please let us know if that works for you.
    Thanks.
