Programmatically Updating a custom realm

Hi,
We have created a custom realm that uses a rdbms. We have a piece of code that creates
a new user in the db, and puts them into the appropriate group,
but since we are using a caching realm, the
groups are not being updated automatically with this new user
being in this group. How can we programmatically call the add member method
or even refresh the cache.

Custom Realm Bug in WebLogic SP3?

I recently upgraded WebLogic 6.1 from SP1 to SP3 and am now
receiving a ClassCastException when invoking the checkPermission
method on a Custom realm ACL that extends weblogic.security.acl.AclImpl.
This code worked fine in SP1. It seems that other developers
have experienced this problem when applying service packs to
WebLogic 5. Any one else encountering this problem with
WebLogic 6 and what is the workaround? (Stack trace attached)

I was unable to determine the cause of the problem, but I was
able to identify that AclImpl was changed between SP1 and SP3.
I updated SP3's weblogic.jar with the weblogic.security.acl.AclImpl
class in the weblogic.jar from SP1 and the exception went away.
I did not see anything in the release notes for SP2 and SP3
that indicate what may have changed. Does anyone know?

Required methods in custom realms

Can anyone help.Being very new to this topic I have a few questions.I have been tasked to the job of constructing a custom security realm. All I want to do in this realm is to authenticated users, all the other tasks are to be passed to the caching realm, and therefore the WLSRealm.My questions are, What methods as an absolute minimum would I need to implement to supply the WLS with what It needs?What is the calling sequence of events made by the WLS against the realm?Were can I find more information regarding custom realms?RegardsPaul.

Custom Realm using LDAP?

Hi,
has anyone implemented a custom realm using LDAP? I was suprised to learn that
ACLs are not supported in the LDAPRealm. Our corporate direction is to have a
central LDAP security store - including ACLs. Unfortunately the LDAP server is
MS SiteServer! Anyway, I assume this means I need to implement a custom realm
- unless there is an alternative.

How to update a custom field of MARC table using BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEREPLICA

I want to update a custom field (Appended field) of MARC table using BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEREPLICA. Please help me in this issue. I cannot use BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA as this updated the MARC table record by record. I have to update bulk records at a time.

Use the Documentation given for struture in BAPI docuemntation...
For loading data into custom fields of MARC use the structure - BAPI_TE_MARC.
First, structures BAPI_TE_<NAME> (<NAME> = MARA, MARC, MARD, MBEW, MLGN, MLGT, MVKE, MARM, MAKT) and the appropriate check structures BAPI_TE_<NAME> (<NAME> = MARAX, for example) have to be extended by the customer to include the required fields. The structures that are delivered as standard only contain the relevant key fields. When new fields are added to this structure, you should ensure that a field has the same name as the field in the database table. Furthermore, the fields in the structures BAPI_TE_<NAME> can only be CHARACTER fields. Data element BAPIUPDATE is to be used for the fields in the check structure (exception to this: key fields.)
Parameters EXTENSIONIN and EXTENSIONINX are used for transferring data to the method. Field STRUCTURE contains the name of the structure (for example, BAPI_TE_MARA or BAPI_TE_MARAX). This names is used to identify the work area (for example, WA_BAPI_TE_MARA or WA_BAPI_TE_MARAX) to which the data is transferred. The remaining fields in parameters EXTENSIONIN or EXTENSIONINX contain data for the key fields (for example, the material number) and the data for customer-specific fields. The number of characters reserved in both parameters for the contents of the customer-specific fields must match the number of characters for the relevant field in the work area. If the number of required characters is less, the remaining characters are left blank. Only when all characters have been filled can the contact for an additional field be transferred. Bear in mind that only data for which an appropriate indicator has been set in the work area can be updated to the database.

Sun java system application server 8 custom realm lock the admin console up

Hi:
I implemented a custome realm. After I installed the custom realm to Sun App server 8 PE, I can get into the admin console any more. According to the log, the user is authenticated. However, this user isn't in write group to access the admin console. What would be the user group in a custom realm to access admin console?
In version 7, even you set up custom realm the admin console still not affected by the custom realm. Why is the admin console in version 8 picking up custom realm?

Previous reply was quite misleading - there is no such thing as default admin password for standalone installation of Application Server. Default values only apply to Application Server installation installed through Creator or NetBeans installer.
Otherwise, you have to specify admin user name and password at installation time. Admin username value is defaulted to "admin" so unless you changed it in your installation that should still apply. You had to enter explicit password values.
If you forgot those, you can either uninstall and reinstall or you can take a look at Troubleshooting Guide for instructions on reseting admin authentication:

How to access "Alternative Realm" or "Custom Realm" from components like Servlet ?

Says if I have alternative realm or my custom realm which implement
"ManageableRealm" interface. How can I access the realm from other
component, like Servlet or EJB in same WLS ? I tried using code like this

Which "myclass.DebugRealm" is classname of my own realm. This realm works

But it create a new instance of this class (I knew it 'cos I put debug
message in its constructor). So how can I get reference to the realm
instance which is created when starting WLS ?

Sorry to say that now I've got the way. I post here again for someone who
may face that same problem.
So strange that, I just changed the realm name in below code to "custom" and
then it works !! My realm is extended from "AbstractListableRealm" class and
I think I named my realm as "XmlRealm" in it constructor by call
super("XmlRealm");
But seems like its "getName()" method always return "custom", so in servlet
code, it' rather be.
BasicRealm realm = Realm.getRealm("custom");
if (realm != null) {
Class realmClass = realm.getClass();
out.println("Realm is " + realmClass.getName());
This works fine and no instance of realm is created. Anyway I saw that
constructor of "AbstractListableRealm" take String argument for "name" of

I have created a document library in which m uploading a excel sheet with values in it and i have created a custom list with same no.of.rows and columns in the excel sheet given the same name of columns. Now i have to make sure that whatever changes i do
in the excel sheet should automatically gets updated in custom list in sharepoint

You'll need to create an event receiver for when you add/update a document on the source library (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/gg749858(v=office.14).aspx)
Then, with code open the excel file and count the rows. You can use the OpenXmlSDK to do that (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5124)

Unable to create or update the Custom Data Provider WIS 10853

I have created the universe in designer then I created QAAWS. In the web intelligence tool, clicked for new document and then chosen web services under other data sources. After giving webservices detailed, I encountered the following error.
Error from Personal Datasource : Unable to create or update the Custom Data Provider: invalid information retrieved while trying to get the structure. (CDS 105109). (WIS 10853)
Can anyone help abt this problem? I wud very thankful for them.

Can you post the wsdl URL. It would be of great help if we could have a look at the wsdl schema. Not all schemas are supported at the moment and hence the error. You can have a look at the limitations section in the documentation guide.

Updating the Customer & Material Tax Classification via LSMW only

We need to update the Customer and Material Tax Classification via LSMW only, in such a way that on the updation of the Tax classifications the Customer Master and the Material Master should be updated automatically.
Please let me know if anyone has done the same also it would be really helpful if you can provide me the details.

It's not clear your question to me.
Do you want to update the Tax classification in the customer master & Material master?
I did same, but with 2 different LSMW"s as there is not link between customer master & Material master.
To update customer tax classification -
In that you have to feed relevant customer numbers with sales areas & relevant tax classification for one LSMW.
To update Material tax classification -
In that you have to feed relevant material numbers with sales areas & relevant tax classification for different LSMW.
