Project Server (Office 365): timesheet with 0 hours actual work cannot be modified - bug or "feature"

Hi,
One of our PMs is trying to change a task in his project plan and gets the following message: "cannot delete or reassign tasks or assignments with protected actuals" . This would normally be ok since we have setup actual work to be reported only
through the timesheets but....when checking actual work on this task, there is only 1 resource allocated and he reported no hours. Interestingly, it shows 0 in the actual work and it's not empty (as you would expect if you dont report hours).
We tried to recall the timesheets of that resource and resubmit them (without any hours again) but that didnt work either. Idea good ideas?

Hi,
has user changed "Remaining Work" to 0? I have not tested, but I assume that cause 0 displayed as Áctual Work and stops you from deleting task.

I'm new to project server online (office 365).
I have a Project server online on Office 365 and I want to query all the projects and its Risks as an excel file. The Risks SharePoint uses OOTB content types and few custom column added to the list. I was told that the OOTB office data connection file for
Risks does not retrieve the custom columns and I was tasked to fix this issue.
I'm completely new to project server and could someone tell me how this can be accomplished. If I create a new data connection file will I be able to use SQL Query or using SQL Query is not allowed in Office 365 since the database is not known.
If using SQL Query is not an option how can I query the OOTB columns + the custom columns for all the projects.
I want to use the ODC file to generate Excel file which then can be used for different views like power pivot etc.,

You need to use the SharePoint list REST / OData APIs to get any custom columns as only the default Risks / Issues columns are synchronised to Project Online Odata.

Autodiscover not working correctly when Office 365 integrated with Server Essentials 2012 R2

Hello!
This last weekend I setup our server as new and to ease the creation of users, integrated with our Office 365 (which to this point has worked fine) and imported the users. This had a somewhat unexpected side effect in that the import used the email address
as for the user forename and then synced that change back to Office 365 and so needed to enter this information back in on the dashboard which synced back to Office 365. This may or may not have any relevance to our issue below.
I should also point out that we have our own domain name so within the original Office 365 setup we had just one .onmicrosoft.com user with all the rest setup with our own domain name.
At the weekend when it came to the client install, Outlook (2010 or 2013) would fail on the autodiscover with it asking again for credentials but critically displaying a server name of .contoso.com rather than the office365srvr.contoso.com . As I mention,
Office 365 had been operating fine for some time and DNS records where checked and have been set for sometime. I spoke to Office 365 support and after a while come up with a temporary solution (so that I could complete the client installs) of assigning each
user a onmicrosoft address, using that in the new account wizard to pick up the server correctly and then signing in the the Office 365 .contoso.com credentials.
This worked OK to get us past the weekend (although I am having to reset up profiles on quite number of users where they get disconnected but with no credentials box appearing) but isn't a solution. The clients do not see public folders or their archives
and of course we don't want to keep having to reset the profiles.
I'm think that there must be something in the internal network that needs reconfiguring but I don't know what. I have tried pointing the client to an external DNS server just in case the internal DNS server was throwing the autodiscover out but this has
made no difference.

Ah - solved my own problem.
Despite the domain DNS record looking OK and the Office 365 Portal domain checker not highlighting any issue, it looks as though the autodiscover is picking up an imap account provided by the web host.
I've added an alias on the local DNS server to point to the Office 365 autodiscover server and this has solved the problem.

Can't open Project Server 2013 word documents with office 2010 installed

hello forum members,
we having issues opening a word document in a Project Server 2013 . we have Office 2010 on our computers installed.
when I click on a document link, i get a message "The webpage cannot be displayed". the only way to open a document is to right click on link and select "Open".
Does Project Server 2013 require Office 2013 installed? If not, is there a way to open documents in Project Server 2013 without right clicking on links?

This is the know issue. I have experienced this issue with one of our client. The cause of issue as below -
Scenario
You have 2007 Microsoft Office installed on a computer.
On the same computer, you also have a Microsoft Office 2013 application installed, such as Microsoft Lync 2013 or Microsoft Word 2013.
SOLUTION
To work around this issue, remove the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support program component from the Office 2013
installation on the affected computer or computers. To do this, follow the “Install or remove individual Office program components” section of the following Microsoft Office website:

Project Server 2010 SP2 Timesheet Errors

Hi,
We use Project Server 2010, SP2 in SEM mode. Users use IE9. Some of our users complaining that while entering timesheet, sometimes "h" for hours is auto populated next to the hours entered in the cell... and sometimes dont appear and then timesheet
freezes. Anyone have any suggestions when would this happen and any resolutions?
And some users also get the following error...
An error occurred when communicating with the server. Check connectivity with your administrator to determine whether further action is necessary", then attempt to approve TimeSheet"

Let us know what turns up. It certainly looks like you are losing connectivity. The other possibility is that your databases are in need of attention. Ask your SQL DBAs whether they are following best practices for Database management and have a SQL maintenance
plan running on the Project Server databases.

Project Server 2010 SP2 - Use with IE11, Firefox and Safari

More groups in my company are being onboarded to start reporting time and managing projects out of Project Server /PWA 2010.  We found that one of the groups have MACs and use either Safari or Firefox. There are some members of that
same team who are using an HP machine but are using IE 11.
From what I am reading and what I am seeing it appears that with Firefox and Safari you cannot access Manage Timesheets or Project Center.  Has anyone found a work-around for this?
The work-around we are using for IE11 is to add Project Serrver to the Compatability View.  Does anyone know of a problem with this approach?

Look into using the 'IE tab' for Chrome/Firefox as a work-around. I had a similar scenario with Mac users and installed IE tab in their Chrome/Firefox browsers for them and worked pretty good for the most part. Hope this helps.

Project Server 2010 (PWA Timesheet) Error

Hello,
I am an administrator for Project Server and had a resource submit a timesheet in error. The timesheet was approved at the time and recalled by the resource at the same time. When the resource had tried to recall, they received back an error. I delegated
as the resource and tried to recall it as the user but it gets stuck with the green loading picture and never moves past that. It seems the status update was accepted when it got approved and now the timesheet is "stuck". From the user's standpoint,
it shows only as "Submitted" in their Timesheet status, but somehow it does not let me delete the timesheet. The error received is saying Invalid object, timesheet failed/blocking correlation. Anyone have any idea how to resolve this? Can't seem
to fix this error.

Is the Test and Production in the same domain. If they are not, then the SIDs associated with the SQL accounts may look the same but they are not. At times, I have had to recreated accounts when in different domains.
I would also use PowerShell cmdlets and see if it finds any issues, such as Test-SPContentDatase.. Validate the SharePoint content databases, because if not setup properly the Provisioning will fail.
Also check these properties.
$web=get-spweb http://prodproj01/pwa
$Web.AllProperties[“PWAURL”] ### see what the value is.. you may have to blank it out, specially if it is pointing to a different URL

Project Server 2013: QueueUpdateProject2 fails with LookupTableItemInvalidLookupTable error

We have a strange problem here using the newly introduced QueueUpdateProject2 PSI method in WebSvcProject. The server is running version 15.0.4481.1005 (Project Server 2013, March 2013 PU). Here's the minimum repro code:

PST Capture to Office 365 fails with Import error : Error opening PST File

I was dealing for more than a week to make it work this tool, Capture PST.}
Already have all requirements: and tried to install in different environments like Server 2008r2 or Windows 8 (not 8.1)
PST Capture Console is installed on the Domain Joined Machine.
You have mentioned that the User Account (PST Capture Tool's Service Account) is a Local Administrator on the Machine running the Tool.
You also have the Outlook 2010 X64 installed
And you have created the outlook profile for that Service Account.
Also not have any non-email items on my pst, is only a test PST with 2MB emails as a test.
I came back from Office 365 forum and they said you are the best guys for this topic.

Finally make it work after 2 weeks of war. Is not a product that you can use in your production environment, because have several complains.
Only works with PST which have Mail items (non calendars, or task, or contacts) and even you can not have a folder structure inside your Inbox, so it is not worth it.

Essentials Experience on member server - Office 365 Integration

A. Windows Server Essentials Experience on 2012 R2
B. Office 365 (existing subscription)
Attempt to run wizard for integration with Azure AD/ Office 365 results in "This task must be performed on the domain controller". At this stage there is only one, has ever only been one, domain controller in the forest. Fresh
install of a DC, no previous Essentials components ever existed.
So, how do you run the integration components on the DC?
DC doesn't have the wizard links in the %systemroot%\System32\Essentials directory. Attempting to run it over the network fails (accessing via Explorer). I hesitate to install DIRSYNC to the DC or any other components, thinking it won't have
the Dashboard integration (required). Can't find documentation of the configuration anywhere, but WSEE is supported as a member server, so why is there only documentation for installation to a DC? Even tried using remote dashboard access, obviously
this failed miserably because the remote dashboard is just a RDS published app.
Tried the Office 365 folks asking if they had any documentation for the process, met with "contact the WSE team, not an Office 365 issue", even though it's a connector to their setup, and at least they could have something to indicate whether it's
supported or a "how to". Nada on TechNet, it all refers to the Essentials server, not Essentials Experience. Bing search spits out lots of references to the articles about WSEE on domain member support, but nothing about features within
WSEE supported on a domain member.

I just built this up in Azure.
1 DC VM
1 Essentials VM (member server w/Role)
I can confirm i see the same behaviour.
This is an error from PowerShell which explains perhaps, a little more:

Project Server 2010 - Error 20010 with a master project and 3 sub-projects during publication

Hi,
Here is the situation :
One master project with three sub projects.
Sub projects are really similar (Same ressources and nearly same tasks but only the first contain real work for now).
Sub projects got no sub projects nor links between projects.
The owner of the master project got read rights through projects permissions on sub projects.
Sub projects are link in "read only".
We applied Project Server 2010 SP2 last week end and the issue appeared monday.
Here are the symptoms :
When we link only one sub project (Doesn't matter which one), the owner can publish, no problems.
With 2 sub projects, the error may occur.
With 3 sub projects, the error always occurs.
With admin rights, the error doesn't occur.
Here is the error :

If the project manager in question does not need to edit any of the three projects, the PM does not need to have Read/Write access to any of the three projects. Because you said that the PM needs to set links in all three projects, this means that
the PM will be editing all three projects. In order to edit the three projects, the PM must have Read/Write access to all three. Setting cross-project links constitutes editing of the projects, which is why the PM must have Read/Write permission.
Make sense?
Regarding SP2, I am not aware that this would change anything, but I could be wrong. The reality is that regardless of which SP you have applied to Microsoft Project and Project Server 2010, the PM in this situation MUST have Read/Write access to the
projects that he/she needs to edit with cross-project links. Hope this helps.

Office 365 Deployment with new local domain

I just started working for a company that has somewhat implemented Office 365 to about 100 users. They are mostly using it for Exchange Online. No ADFS or AD Sync has been done between the on-premise domain and Office365.
The same user accounts do exist in the local domain.
Once we get ADFS and AD Sync working what will happen between the Office365 accounts and the local accounts. For instance, in Office365 we have
[email protected] and locally we have a user
[email protected] Will the accounts just sync together and use the information from the local domain since the IDs are the same.

Office 365 support with VB6 based application for example Mail Merge

Could i know how to use office 365 in our project step by step ? is it free available as trial version which work successfully
As our project is currently using Microsoft Office 2003/2007. for we example we run Mail Merge module and it opened in MS word Office 2007 by default as it is installed in our local Machine.
Currently i don't have office 365 licence software, does it require?
My point of contact is one of client is asking for why not we are using office 365 which is on cloud version.

If you are developing an app for SharePoint, the app can call into a user’s MySite site collection and access their OneDrive for Business documents using REST or CSOM.
The REST call to get to the file would be:
https://YourO365DomainHere-my.sharepoint.com/personal/YourUserName_YourO365DomainHere_onmicrosoft_com/_api/web/GetFileByServerRelativeUrl('/personal/YourUserName_YourO365DomainHere_onmicrosoft_com/Documents/Shared%20with%20Everyone/myDocument.docx')/$value
