Projection in Google Earth and Oracle

I'm trying to build a demo with dutch data (The Netherlands) with the article from Justin Lokitz http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/lokitz-spatial-geoserver.html. In his tables he uses SRID 8265. Anyone any idea which srid I should use with my dutch (Navteq = lat/lon) data?
And does anyone have any idea why the maps of The Netherlands or Belgium or whatever in Google Earth (or Mapinfo) is straight up, and the map of the Netherlands with geodetic data always looks tilted and stretched?

Wijnand
Generally CS transformation is rather straightforward, although sometimes mathematical complicated. Most of the times CS transformation to projected coordinates is a two step approach.
First from WGS84 (lat lon) to Local geodetic datum (lat lon), Secondly a projection is applied to local projected coordinates.
For the first step, if available, a 7 parameter transformation is applied. These parameters will give you the 3 translation, 3 rotation and 1scale factors from and to WGS84 to your local datum.
This first step is actually a 4 fase traject.
from WGS84 (lat lon) to WGS84 (X,Y,Z) then the 7 parameter transformation is applied to get YOURDATUM (X,Y,Z). After this you go from YOURDATUM (X,Y,Z) to YOURDATUM(LAT, LON).
The second step will apply the projection on YOURDATUM(LAT,LON).
I would think that this general approach counts for a lot of transformations implemented. although there are some other transformations available, depending on the availability of the 7 parameters.

iPad bombs out returns to home page using Google Earth and other random Apps, why and how can I prevent it happening?

Quit/close all apps and restart the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
You can try this as well.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Connecting google earth to oracle

Im working in a project that consist of projecting datas (with latitude and longitude) from oracle DB 10, into google earth; is it possiblei ? and haw?
    think you!

Need more details...what exactly do you want to do? Pull coordinates from Oracle and pass them to Google Earth to be displayed?
It seems reasonable that you could write a program that connects to a database, gets some coordinate data from the db, then launches Google Earth with the coordinates as parameters, and zooms in on that location....
Seems reasonable, not sure if it's possible.....

  • Every time I download google earth and try to use it I received the message cannot connect to server why

I have problem on using google earth on my iPad and my MacBook Pro
All the time I received the message cannot connect to server

Sometimes the sign-in process goes kablooey for whatever reason. It can usually be remedied by tapping the options icon (the cogwheel out in the project selection user interface; upper right) > My Account. Sign in that way and you should be able to get everything going again. I just did it on my Google Nexus 7 2013 with no problems.

  • Google earth and google earth plugin not working on

    Hi,
I have a macbook 2006 with Intel GMA 250 and OS 10.6.8, and I cannot manage to make google eart work properly, nor google earth's plugin on safari, firefox, or google chrome. It worked fine previously, but stoped at a certain point (since several months). I have reinstalled the plugin several without success. I also tried troubleshooting from google earth, without success.
Does anyone experiencing the same problem knows how to solve it?
    Thanks
    THibaut

    More information would be great.
What type of site is it?  WordPress?  Joomla or Drupal?
What drag and drop theme or framwork are you using?
What version of software and theme, what type of hosting, what version of PHP and mySQL?
I'm having similar issues but details such as these will go a long way to grouping symptoms and getting to the bottom of the problem(s).
One thing I've noted is that in most cases everything is actually working.  It's just taking an unbelievably long time.  jQuery isn't the problem either.  It seems more closely related to the quantity of available tasks on a given page.
There are forum posts for v7 that say Safari isn't compatible with WordPress for example.  It is compatible and works just fine, but if you're running the latest version of Catalist Theme and their Dynamic Site Builder you can't do anything with Dynamic admin because all its options are on a single page which appears to be too much for Safari 7 to handle for some reason.  Folks are having similar problems with Genesis, Headway Theme, Pagelines and many others.

  • [SOLVED]Google Earth and LSB

    Good Morning Fellow Archers,
I've got an up to date x64 Arch install. I wanted to install Google-Earth from the AUR but was not able. I tried both packages, and both of them are failing looking for LSB-3. The current LSB in the repository is rev 4.
I followed one thread where I manually created a link for a lsb-3 install, and both google-earth packages still fail.
I do have the multi-libs enabled as I have one app that uses wine32 and it's happy. And the NVidia lib32 stuff is all there too.
I have X-Plane 9, which is a 32 bit app only, and it runs fine so I know the x32libs are all in place and working.
I think the long-term solve is for the google-earth AUR maintainers to square away their builds for lsb-4....but I'm not an expert in package builds or I'd jump in and help.....but reality is that I am not an expert.
In the meantime....how do I make this work without pounding a 'square' peg into a 'round' hole?
    Assistance will be sincerely appreciated!
    Dave
PS: Yes...I did try to follow the wiki article too.....

Thank you for the response. I have it installed and it works perfectly. THANK YOU.
The solve was simple. I was brain-locked on the lsb in the arch repository, and was not taking note of that I needed the lsb from the AUR.
    This was totally my error.
Again, thank you for the response.

  • 10HD Slate stopped running Google Earth and Youtube

The slate worked fine since it was purchased four months ago.  A few weeks ago, Google Earth started to only show a black screen and this week youtube stopped running.  It only streams a video for a few seconds before it stops and spools for a minute or longer before it streams video for another few seconds.  Chrome has also started taking a long time to search and open to a page.
I've cleared the cache on every app and I have shut down all running apps.  I've uploaded to the latest Chrome and Google and rebooted several times.  The tablet is running Android 4.2.2 and kernal 3.4.5.
    Any suggestions?

Just tried the same app on the same device - same results.  Google Earth doesn't work!
Google may have changed it to work only with KitKat...?
Meanwhile, the Maps app works fine and in the "Satellite" view is much the same as Google Earth.

  • KMZ (Google Earth) files on iWeb site

I use MotionX GPS to record tracks of our trips.
I then email the track to myself. This results in an attached KMZ file.
Launching the file launches Google Earth and the track is nicely displayed with the start and finish pins at the top and bottom of the window.
I would like to add the tracks to my iWeb blog, so that a visitor could select a track and GE would launch (in another window, if need be) and display the track.
Does anyone (Old Toad maybe?) know how to do this in iWeb?
    Thanks, HNick

OK. I think I got it so far. I got the GE plug-in (really the API, right?). Got my magic ID number (long). I now have GE in iWeb.
there are two parts, the ifr part is web gadget and an api for embed kml link to the gadget.
What I don't understand is how to get the KMZ files (one for each trip - 6 of them so far) into iWeb, so that they can be opened in GE.
first, upload your kmz files to your web host.
It looks like Cyclosaurus' example uses the track as part of the GE api - in my case that would be a separate instance (?) of GE for each track?
that's correct, go to my GE example here: http://goo.gl/w307f
copy the url (it's a long url) and paste it in text editor.
search for &upkmlurl= , you'll see it points to my kmz file on my site, replace my url with an absolute url points to one of your kml file.
also search for &title= and replace what after that with a title for your track.
end product is your GE URL to view in a browser. - long url -
back to your iweb project, add an html snippet; copy + paste the following:
    <iframe src="put your GE URL here - the long url " frameborder="0" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" allowtransparency="true"></iframe>
in iweb this will display as google map because iweb does not have support for GE plug-in, this also is true for browser that does not support GE plug-in such as ie. that's the fall back mode.
repeat the process for the other KMZ.

    - Google Earth error/warning message when launching it.
All drivers latest, pacman -Syu ran today.
I previosly had issues with getting VMWare's hardware-accelerated virtualized 3D support to work, due to lousy-crappy Intel graphics not supporting texture decompression in hardware (and Intel being too cheap to license it for Linux as well as Windows), but I worked around this with this hack -- this is why I choose to include the bulk of glxinfo's output, in case there is some other extension I'm missing.
I've played around with this for a while, but haven't been able to make any progress -- I may try and mess around with Google Earth and gdb to see what's making it think hardware acceleration is unavailable.
It seems I'm not the only person to report this -- here (I found more, but, natch, lost them and can't find them in history -- they were not insightful, anyway.)
I'm using google-earth from AUR (I wanted to try the 'official' Google Earth package, but for some strange reason that refused to install.)
Google Earth works fine, albeit sloooowly.
Any ideas on ways to fix/places to start looking? I've seen people mention Google Earth using it's own shipped-with precompiled libraries rather than system libraries, but prepending /lib:/usr/lib to LD_LIBRARY_PATH does not help (also, it seems that libQt* have been stripped from the installation by the AUR package, so it may be a moot point.)
I can't think of any more relevant information to include -- if I've missed anything, please poke me.
Thanks for your help, (I hope)

Pretty delayed update, but this was just an error in the xorg.conf: apparently something got changed, so regenerating the config with X -configure generates one that worked well.

  • Why is Firefox involved in taking sides with Google Earth's dumping of the website Climate Viewer News?

I like researching and I have sites that credible although the gov't may not like the data these sites collect for public awareness. Climate Viewer News relies on Google Earth and now this site can no longer do the work they've always done in getting the truth out there to the public... And Google Earth is bought and paid for and controlled by Gov't agencies in preventing those sites who value the citizens constitutional right to know what our leaders and others in power are doing to not only humans, but to this planet and more. I thought Mozilla Firefox's goal was to provide internet browsing privace and security to the public without interference from those control freaks who have the money and power to control it all. Where's the freedom? What about integrity and ethics? By submitting an opinion that is against Firefox leaves me wide open for attack...But I have always supported Firefox and the other programs from Mozilla and now this at CV News website "....“Mozilla is not interested in or working on Pepper at this time.” May 2011..." It saddens me greatly to see the good guys being bought and paid for. I have many friends who are Open Source and maybe they should hear about this issue: https://climateviewer.com/2014/12/28/death-google-earth-climate-viewer-3d/

We do not discuss development issues of decisions on this forum. It is for support of Firefox endusers, and mainly answers are from fellow Firefox users. Mozilla developers do not (or only <s>unyieldingly</s>!! ''exceedingly'' rarely) post here.
Of course we are not trying to be obstructive so links to where this is discussed,or to relevant information is ok.
Just some brief comments on the background.
    * FlashPlayer <br />Let's for starters point out that FlashPlayer is proprietary closed source software, and Adobe's FlashPlayer does not even support all the Operating Systems Firefox does. For instance newer versions of Android are not supported, and Linux is only getting critical security updates with that due to cease soon.
*Pepper <br /> Is a Google project, it effectively builds FlashPlayer into the Chrome browser. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Native_Client#Pepper
    * HTML5 <br />There are many HTML5 projects & features supported or in development for Firefox and that is probably the way forward.
I am not sure which forum is the best for you to try to engage with Firefox developers but see these

  • New Google Earth does not run on my 24" iMac

This morning I downloaded and installed the new Google Earth 4.0.2 beta on my 24" iMac. GE loads but crashes as soon as I attempt to navigate to any where. Now I am trying to download the previous version 3 from Google but it just downloads the newest beta and because I told the new version to replace my old version I have no version. Any body else having the same problem? I have 2.16, 2gig, 7600, 500MB iMac.
    24" iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

It runs fine here. Since you are having the same problem on the new machine, and the machine you migrated from (sounds like you migrated your Home folder) why don't you try this:
    1. Quit Google Earth
    2. Navigate to ~/Library/Preferences (Note: "~" is the Short Name for your user account, which can be viewed in System Preferences --> Accounts)
    3. Move the file 'com.Google.GoogleEarthPlus.plist' to your Desktop.
    4. Relaunch Google Earth and see if the problem persists.

  • Google Earth glitches

After a long time not using it I installed Google Earth 5. What is strange is that the maps render OK, speed is acceptable, but the fonts in some menu entries get garbled up, as well as the text that appears in the map (like e.g. city names, map data etc). Characters are missing or distorted. The same happens with text that appears when hovering over an icon that indicates pictures or wiki entries.
It looks like an overlay proble, but I am not sure how to fix it.
I run it under KDE4 on an HP laptop with Intel 945 GM chip. Have already tried disabling Kwin effects, changing fonts in Google Earth and changed some settings in xorg.cong (AccelMethod EXA) but no difference.
Starting in a terminal gives no errors either. Any ideas?

I'm having the exact same problem (GE5.0, KDE4.3, Dell Inspiron 6400 with Intel 945GM).  I believe it started when the X system video driver "i810" was replaced with the new "intel" driver, during the upgrade of kernel 2.6.27-2 -> 2.6.27.10 (I'm now using 2.6.28).
There appear to be two categories of fonts in the text overlays: a slightly larger font used for placemarks, labels of picture and wiki entry icons and for the text at the bottom of the screen, and a smaller font that's used for street names.  Often now, one of these two font categories is intact, i.e. all the letters are there, but many of them are missing in the other, and then again, after I clear the cache or change a font or do some other things, the situation is reversed.  As for numbers, all of them but the numbers 8 and 9 are always missing, and I can't read the calibration on the distance ruler nor the elevation or the geographical location.  The most usable 3D font I've found is Helvetica Bold 12; others are even worse, in terms of legibility.  But with all of them, there is always something missing.
This is not a problem with GE but rather with font rendering in Linux that is probably specific to the new "intel" video driver.  I.e. when I replace the "intel" video driver with the "vesa" driver (in /etc/X11/xorg.conf), i.e. run GE in OpenGL with software emulation, then all the text in the overlays is there, but GE runs very slowly.  I can't use the older "i810" driver either because that one was removed during the upgrade to the "intel" driver with kernel 2.6.27.10.  It's not compatible anymore with the newer kernel: the "i810" driver would crash the system and X windows would never start up.
This problem is extremely annoying, and it seems to be fairly widespread with GE for Linux but nobody seems to have come up with a solution.
