Prompt Values obiee

I have two prompts A and B
Users will enter value either A or B.
My req is like whenever a User wants to enter for Prompt A then B should be grayed out(disable) or other way around!!
Please let me how to handle this.
Thanks
NK

we will not be able to grey out a prompt while entering a value in another prompt.
In stead we can set a constraint to apply only prompt A When prompt A value is set.
for this in Prompt B you will have to write a SQL with a case tatement.
add this as a filter in your report.
case when @{prompt A} is null then @{promptB} end
let me know you update

  • Issue : OBIEE applying default prompt values when pressing return button

    Hi All,
On my dashboard, I am showing a summary report. This summary report has a link to detail report. I have provided a link for detail report just below the summary report on dashboard. Following is the issue which I am facing
[1] I run the dashboard for a particular prompt value on the dashboard. Let's say a date value = '1/1/2010'.
(There is no default value for the prompt).
[2] Now my summary report is updated according to the prompt value which I selected.
[3] I click on any value on summary reports and it drill down and recalculated the metrics
[4] Now when I click on the detail report, i get the detail report too ( in a new window). The issue starts from here.
[5] When I click on return link from the detail report page, it takes me back to the summary report page ( I land on the report which I got from step 3)
[6] I click on the return button under the summary report (rememeber I had drilled down) to see the report which i get in step 2
But, when I click on the return button under the summary report, it changes the prompt value too and applies the default value to the prompt and provides me the initial summary report with default promt value. The report which I got in step 2
Whereas what i want is when I click on the return link then I should get the report which I got in step 3.
Why does OBIEE applies the default value when I try to return back to my original summary report. Is this an OBIEE feature or I have some setting issue ?
Hope I have been able to explain the scenario!
Can anyone please reply on this. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ronny

    hey kart,
the issue is not about going back to the summary report ...the issue is when i click on the return link below the summary report after returning from the detail report ( which opens in a new window) then it takes me to the initial summary report ( which was loaded by default when the dashboard was loaded) with all the default prompt filters whereas my requirement is to go back to the summary report with the filters which users selected from the prompt ....
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Ronny

  • Restricting dashboard prompt values in obiee 11g

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to restrict the length of the dasboard prompt value to min of # characters.
Please let me know if you have any idea (JScript).
    Regards,
    Zameer

    See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg622942%28v=VS.85%29.aspx
Basically, IE9 breaks flash ExternalInterface calls if your flash component is embedded with an object tag with an embed tag fallback, and the object id and embed name is the same.
The easiest workaround is to tell ie9 to render your page in IE8 Standards mode. To do this, insert this in the element:
    <!-- Enable IE8 Standards mode --> <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" >
Otherwise, you might just want to use the object tag only or embed tag only.

  • Issue in Dashboard Prompt of OBIEE 11g

    Hi,
I had recently migrated from OBIEE 10g to OBIEE 11g.
I had found that there are lot of things which were working on OBIEE 10g are not working in OBIEE 11g.
    For Eg:
I have scenario where i have 2 dashboards with different dashboard prompts.
    - *1st Dashboard*: I have prompt with 4 columns Year, Month, Qtr and Week. I can filter the data based on the selection of prompt.i.e Summary Report showing all KPIs and when clicked on the any of the KPI it goes to Below report which shows the graphical view of past weeks data.
    - Report: Here i show all the week Ids in the Graph format and when clicked on the any week id it navigates to 2nd Dashboard(below) with appropriate week populated in the prompt and show the detailed records.
    - *2nd Dashboard*: I have prompt with 5 columns Year, Month, Qtr, Week and Day of the Week with some detailed report. Here the only Week Id should be pre populated and show data based on the week id selection in the above report.
The issue here in OBIEE 11g is, The month Id which was selected in 1st Dashboard prompt is also getting pre populated into the 2nd dashboard prompt. Which should not happen.
Note: This was working fine in OBIEE 10g.
Is there any way to fix this issue in OBIEE 11g.
    Regards
    Shyam

    Hi Bala,
    Thank you for your response.
I had tried that and resolved my problem but it was impacting other reports i.e
I have other reports in 1st Dashboard with different tabs, Here i want the prompt value to be persisted across the reports in same dashboard so that when i go to other tab with in same dashboard the prompt value should be pre-populated and the data should be filtered against that.
Now if i change the scope to page then i will be loosing this functionality.
It was working on OBIEE 10g and i lost this after migrating to OBIEE 11g.
Can you please help me in this regard.

  • Dashboard prompt value is not passing into the report

    Hi,
I am using OBIEE 10g. The problem is in Oracle BI Answers
I have a prompt and its related report. In the prompt, in one of the column, I am using sql result. The sql query is a co-related sub query where i have used 2 tables. employee_data and employee_region. The reason for using sub-query is that there is no data_center column in the employee_data table. It has the records for all the data_center e.g USA, UK,IND,AUSTRALIA etc So, I used the sub query with condition which will give the result on a particular data center (here it is USA) and this sub query's output is input for the main query. And the prompts works fine and gives correct result
The sql query used for the column in the prompt (in Oracle BI Answers) as
SELECT EMPLOYEE_DATA.ENAME FROM EMPLOYEE WHERE EMPLOYEE_DATA.ENAME IN (SELECT EMPLOYEE_REGION.ENAME FROM EMPLOYEE WHERE EMPLOYEE_REGION.DATA_CENTER = 'USA')Now in the report, there are 2 coulmns. - EMPLOYEE_DATA.ENAME and EMPLOYEE_REGION.DATA_CENTER
I have used the main column EMPLOYEE_DATA.ENAME for filter as 'prompted'.
The problem is the value from the prompt is not passing from the prompt to the report, what I found. Because, instead of showing the result for 'USA' data_center, It also shows other data_center 's (UK,IND,AUSTRALIA) data.
How filter condition I should use for EMPLOYEE_DATA.ENAME column in the report so that the prompt value will pass to the report properly ?
    Thanks

    Hi Kuldip,
There are 2 ways of doing it.
    1. Nice and good: For the section where the report is put have a condition to display only if it returns rows. For details please refer to :
    http://bischool.wordpress.com/category/guided-navigation/
    2. The easy way: Add a "No Result" view to your report and add few spaces in the text.
Let me know if this helped.

  • Prompted value corrupts SQL WHERE clause - bug?

    Using 10.1.3.4...
I implemented a simple pivot based request that navigates to a second request when the user drill down on one of the fields. This field is set to "value is prompted" in my second request. (I chose navigate method above drill (dimensions) for a few reasons not really important to this posting, mainly to do with format of requests at different levels)
All good and the drill down works well, parameters are passed correctly, except then I noticed that totals in my second request doesn't accurately tie back to my first request. After some research I found a very odd reason for this, my WHERE clause is getting corrupted - which almost looks like a bug in OBIEE and were wondering if anybody else has seen this behaviour from OBIEE and know a work around (before I try the Oracle support channels)
From Answers the request SQL is (I'll highlight the lines getting messed up):
    SET VARIABLE DISABLE_CACHE_HIT = 1;
    SELECT
    BUSINESS_UNIT.Segment saw_0, BUSINESS_UNIT."Business Unit" saw_1, OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY saw_2, OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY saw_3, YEAR(OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) saw_4, OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.TCV_IN_USD/1000000 saw_5, OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.WEIGHTED_TCV_IN_USD/1000000 saw_6, CASE OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY WHEN 100 THEN OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.TCV_IN_USD/1000000 ELSE 0 END saw_7 FROM "Sales"
WHERE (OPPORTUNITY.STAGE NOT IN ('Lost', 'On Hold')) AND (YEAR(OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &gt;= YEAR(CURRENT_DATE)) AND
    ((({color:#ff0000}OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY &gt; 25) AND (TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_MONTH, CURRENT_DATE,OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &lt;= 4)) OR ((OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY &gt;= 10) AND (TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_MONTH, CURRENT_DATE,OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &gt; 4{color})))
    ORDER BY saw_0, saw_1, saw_2, saw_3, saw_4, saw_5, saw_6, saw_7
Which results in the following SQL request (from NQQuery.log)... The prompted value (BUSINESS_UNIT.Segment) is added correctly to the WHERE clause, but see how the remainder get's changed:
    SQL Request:
    SET VARIABLE QUERY_SRC_CD='Report',SAW_DASHBOARD='/shared/01 - Financials/_portal/4. Pipeline',SAW_DASHBOARD_PG='Pipeline',SAW_SRC_PATH='/shared/01 - Financials/4. Pipeline/Pipeline - Current - T2',DISABLE_CACHE_HIT = 1;
    SELECT
    BUSINESS_UNIT.Segment saw_0, BUSINESS_UNIT."Business Unit" saw_1, OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY saw_2, OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY saw_3, YEAR(OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) saw_4, OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.TCV_IN_USD/1000000 saw_5, OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.WEIGHTED_TCV_IN_USD/1000000 saw_6, CASE OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY WHEN 100 THEN OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.TCV_IN_USD/1000000 ELSE 0 END saw_7 FROM "Sales"
WHERE (BUSINESS_UNIT.Segment = 'Enterprise') AND (OPPORTUNITY.STAGE NOT IN ('Lost', 'On Hold')) AND (YEAR(OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &gt;= YEAR(CURRENT_DATE)) AND
    ((({color:#ff0000}OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY &gt;= 10) AND (TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_MONTH, CURRENT_DATE,OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &gt; 4)) OR ((OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY &gt;= 10) AND (TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_MONTH, CURRENT_DATE,OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &gt; 4{color})))
    ORDER BY saw_0, saw_1, saw_2, saw_3, saw_4, saw_5, saw_6, saw_7
Which definitely explains why my totals do not add up when drilling down. Interestingly, if I run my second request without the prompt from Answers, the SQL request works like a charm:
    SET VARIABLE QUERY_SRC_CD='Report',SAW_SRC_PATH='/shared/01 - Financials/4. Pipeline/Pipeline - Current - T2',DISABLE_CACHE_HIT = 1;
    SELECT BUSINESS_UNIT.Segment saw_0, BUSINESS_UNIT."Business Unit" saw_1, OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY saw_2, OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY saw_3, YEAR(OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) saw_4, OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.TCV_IN_USD/1000000 saw_5, OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.WEIGHTED_TCV_IN_USD/1000000 saw_6, CASE OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY WHEN 100 THEN OPPORTUNITY_ADDON.TCV_IN_USD/1000000 ELSE 0 END saw_7 FROM "Sales"
WHERE (OPPORTUNITY.STAGE NOT IN ('Lost', 'On Hold')) AND (YEAR(OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &gt;= YEAR(CURRENT_DATE)) AND
    ((({color:#ff0000}OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY &gt; 25) AND (TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_MONTH, CURRENT_DATE,OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &lt;= 4)) OR ((OPPORTUNITY.CLOSEPROBABILITY &gt;= 10) AND (TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_MONTH, CURRENT_DATE,OPPORTUNITY.ESTIMATEDCLOSE) &gt; 4{color})))
    ORDER BY saw_0, saw_1, saw_2, saw_3, saw_4, saw_5, saw_6, saw_7
Anybody had the same problem before?

  • Display In Between  Prompts Value in Report Title

    Hi All,
I want to show the in between dashboard prompt value in Report.
So that when user download the report he will come to know the date range.
I have gone through the couple of links but it does not work.
I tries the below one but when ever i am selected the to_date it reset the from date also.
    http://obiee101.blogspot.com/2009/03/obiee-between-dates-prompt.html
    Thanks
    Nawneet

I would add one thing to Saichand's solution which I use for the situation you describe. If you create two dashboard prompts one for the "from" date and the other for the "to" date and then modify your filter on the date column to be:
    datecolumn >= @{From_Date} AND datecolumn <= @{To_Date}
...then you just need to add two more columns to your report to house the presentation variables. Make these columns the first two so that in your Narrative View you can reference them as "Between @1 and @2"
You don't need another report to place on top of your current one, just add the Narrative View to your existing report.

  • Passing Dashboard Prompt values to different dashboard.

    Hi All,
I want to pass the selected prompt values from my current dashboard to a different dashboard. I am using a navigate function to go to the other dashboard.
    The scenario is:
I am using a column formulae to navigate to the different dashboard. The column formulae written is:
    case when rank ("Table".column ) <=10 then cast(rank ("Table".column) as char(10)) else ''||'+'|| '' END
In this scenario, the dashboard prompts are not get passed to the other dashboard.
In other case when I do not customize the column as stated above and in the Column Property just give a 'Navigate' in the Value Interaction it passes the prompt values to the other dashboard.
Similarly can we do something in the column formulae or using something else to pass on the dashboard Prompt values to the other dashboard.
Please Note that the dashboard Prompts in both the dashboards are exactly same.
    Regards,
    Bhavik

    Bhavik,
Your nearly there, simply extend your URL syntax and pass the colum values with it, see here :
    http://sureshotstrategies.wordpress.com/2008/12/13/integrating-oracle-obiee-content-using-go-url-syntax-2/
    e.g
    http://webserver/analytics/saw.dll?Go&Path=%2Fshared%2FSupplier%2FRegionDollars&Action=Navigate&col1=Periods.%22Year%22&val1=%221999%22&op1=eq
    Passes colum : Periods.Year
    value : 1999
    operator : equals (=)

  • Restricting the Prompt Values based on Fact table data

    Hi,
We need dashboard prompts in OBIEE reports that will fetch data from dimension tables. Our all dimensions are conformed dimension having joined with multiple fact tables.
Because prompts are showing data from dimension table, it is showing all dimension data and few data might not present in the particular fact table that we have used in the report.
    For Example:
We have one Calendar dimension table that has 20 years data that means all dates. Now we have two fact tables Fact1 and Fact2.
In Fact1 we have records related to only 2007 Years data. And In Fact2 We have 2008 years data.
Now We are creating two separate reports in two separate page in one dashboard where the prompt is same. That is Calendar date prompt.
So In report1, The prompt will be Calendare and Result will be from Fact1. But as the calendar prompt from Calendar dimension, it showing all 20 years data though only 2007 years data is valie.
Similarly for Report2, It is showing all calendar dates in the prompt where Fact2 is having 2008 year data.
I want to show only 2007 years dates in the prompt for Report1 and 2008 years dates for Report2. That means I want to restrict prompt values based on the fact.
It will be great if someone can suggest on this.
    Regards,
    SS

Hi, I have a similar problem.
I have two dimensions: time and customer.
The two dimensions are joined into two Fact Table (Order, Forecast).
I created a dashboard prompt with two selections: the first is the Year (time dimension) and the second is the Region (customer dimension) with the option "cosntraint."
When I select a Year, not all Regions are shown, but only those that are present in one of two fact table for the year chosen. Which fact table?
What criteria will limit the values of the Region?
    Thanks

  • Cascade dashboard prompts in OBIEE 10.1.3.4

    Hi,
Is there any concept of Cascade dashboard prompt in OBIEE 10.1.3.4.
I have a requirement as described below -
Start date and End date dashboard prompts. (Calendar) - Results of Start Date and End Date selected are captured in the Presentation Variables Startdt, Enddt respectively.
Promotions dashboard prompt (multi select) - This Prompt should show the results from the SQL Query -
    SELECT "- National Promotion - Canadian Market"."National Promotion" FROM "SPDM" where "- National Promotion - Canadian Market"."NP Status"='Active' and "- National Promotion - Canadian Market"."NP Region"='Canada' and "- National Promotion - Canadian Market"."NP Type"='National' and "- Calendar".Date BETWEEN DATE '@{Startdt}{06/28/2010}' AND DATE '@{Enddt}{12/31/2010}'
But the results are not populating in the Promotions Prompt. Can anyone help me in fixing this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sri

    Hi
This is a known OBIEE bug.
    Please refer http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/presentation_variable_initialization
With a Multi Select dashboard prompt
You cannot set a Presentation Variable in a Multi Select dashboard prompt in OBIEE 10g. This is expected behavior. OBIEE 10g is working as designed. A Presentation variable can assume a single value. Because of that, presentation variables are not available when using multi select prompts. OBIEE 11g will introduce the ability to set Presentation Variables when using multi select prompts. In 10g you can try as a workaround using more than 1 prompt.
I don't more work arounds than listed here:
    http://obiee-blog.info/answers/multiselect-prompt-presentation-variable/
But, these work arounds might not suffice your issue.
Please let me know if you come up with a better solution.
    Good Luck.
    Chandu.

  • Cascaded Prompts in OBIEE 10g

    Hello friends,
Can some help me to understand how to implement cascaded prompts in OBIEE 10g? My situation is:
    I have three Prompts P1,P2 and P3
P1: Values are comming from a table
P2: Shows the value from a Stored Procedure, such that one stored procedure takes input parameter from P1
P3: Shows the value from a stored procedure , such that one stored procedure takes input parameter from P2
After selecting value from P3 , I will run the report. So here P2 is based on P1 , P3 is based on P2, ie cascaded.
I have tried this by checking the box Constrain for P2 and P3 (red some where that if we make a prompt with checked the Constrain box then its value depends on the previous prompt)
But for me this is not working even if check the Constrain box.
Can I some one help me to do this.
    Thanks,
    Mithun

    Hi Krish,
Value of P1 Im passing to a stored procedure (say SP1) to populate P2, same way values in the P2 (which is the result from SP1) I'm passing to SP2 which in turn gives the values in P3.
I'm using the SP1 and SP2 in the Physical layer as
    EXEC SP_NAME @parameter1 = 'VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.ID)'
Here ID is the session variable I have created.
And in the Dashboard, I have created the prompt P1 (on a field which is from a table), then the value is passed to the variable ID by choosing the 'Request Variable' option in the Set Variable drop down.
Same way I did for other SP by passing the value from P2..
Here for P2 and P3 I have checked the box for constrain so that value of P2 is depended on P1 and value of P3 is depended on P2.
But my problem is this method of cascading is not working.. that is P2 value is not changing based on the value I'm selecting in P1 ans same way for P3...
Hope my issue is clear to you..
    Thanks,
    Mithun

  • How to realize this reqirement in the dashboard prompt in OBIEE 10G?

    Hi,
I have a new query about dashboard prompt in OBIEE 10g..
All below is needed to Operator in the dashboard prompt.
We have 4 columns, 4 columns using multi-select type need to constrain together and need to show value which is related with product..
    e.g.
Now I display "REGION" column using multi-select in Control, and I need to show data which product name is not null. After I add "where product name is not null" in the SQL results in Show, then I cannot use the Constrain box.. and I cannot set any variable if I using multi-select type..
So anybody have any idea about this?
Your reply will be highly appreciate..
    Regards,
    Anne

    Hi Anne
User Input type as " Multi select prompt" keep it with constrain option then apply below query
apply like this kind of SQL query in Default selection --->SQL result section
SELECT "MX_PORTFOLIO_STATIC"."MT_BU_Level1" FROM "Position" where "MX_PORTFOLIO_STATIC"."MT_BU_Level1" is not null
    Thanks

  • Prompt Value

    Hi all
I am new to OBIEE i hope someone could help me out with this. I have a dashboard with prompt and i would like to show the prompt value entered by the user in the dashboard. How do i do this
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Megha

    Megha,
Using a narraative view it is possible to display prompt values in dashboard.
i.e. access the column values by specifying @1 for 1st column, @2 for 2nd column and so on... in a narrative view.
If you have a presentation variable defined in the prompt you are using, you can directly use it in a static view/narrative view.
    hope this helps

  • XML Publicher Report Output without Prompt Value

    Hello,
I've one report(XML Publisher) which prints various data from PS_JOB,PS_PERSONAL_DATA and some other Performance tables.
The Prompt Values are from a dynamic view which shows the Subordinate employees(emplids and names) of the login employee.
The base query view i created has all the information of all active employees from all Business Unit. Now when i select when employee from prompt table the output values for that particular employee and is ok. But when i don't select anything(no table edit), it is not showing the output of my subordinates but for all the employee. That is Right because i've base report view is for all employees.
Is there any way that if i dont select anything from prompt values i'll get only output of my subordinates only?
    Regards!

Thanks. I did try that before but the view didn't build but i don't how today the view built successfully.
But when i tried to run the query with a normal user who's having subordinate the excel output is still blank.

  • Error while passing prompt value in Column Formula

    Hi All,
I have created a dashboard and added a dashboard prompt on that with a presentation variable named "promptdyn" that is basically showing bank names.
Now i want to calculate the market value based on this prompt selection, so i edited the column formula as
    "WM FACT Sec"."MARKET VALUE" * EVALUATE('getBankBaseCurrencyValue(%2)' As Double,@{promptdyn},"Industry Type".INSTRUMENT_CCY)
But it is throwing this error:
    \nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred.
\nQSError: 22051] The argument number 1 is not referenced in this evaluate expression: getBankBaseCurrencyValue(%2). (HY000)
SQL Issued: SELECT "Industry Type".INDUSTRY_NAME, "Industry Type".INDUSTRY_TYPE, "WM FACT Sec"."MARKET VALUE" * EVALUATE('getBankBaseCurrencyValue(%2)' As Double,0,"Industry Type".INSTRUMENT_CCY) FROM WMAdHocReportingBMMSec
I don't know what is wrong here. Here i tried to pass the value of the prompt to the function.
Basically I have created a function in the database with two parameter as "bank name " and "Currency" and calling it with the help of evaluate function.
How could we store the prompt value and pass it to some other function?
Pls help me as it is urgent for me to solve.
    Thanks

    He Solved.
Just i missed out to write %1,%2 in the evaluate function.
But one thing i need to know that how can we store the value that is selected in a prompt say in dashboard prompt so that it can be used in query. Because i need to select a value first from the prompt and based on that i need to manipulate the values of the other request of the dashboard.
    Please Reply.
    Thanks
