Proxy service routing to business services

Hi,
I'm trying to route from a proxy service to one of two business services based on a value in a message - similar to the first AquaLogic tutorial, but I've written mine from the ground up. The message flow I've configured can decide which service to invoke, but then fails with this fault message: "Failed to get operation name from the incoming request." My two "business service" web services work fine by themselves. Does the proxy service's wsdl need to match up with the business services' wsdl's? What else could I be doing wrong?
Thanks,
Andrew

I mapped the operation name using the ALSB console. When selecting the business service to route to when editing the message flow, you are required by the console to select an operation. My two business services have one operation each. I have selected the operations I want to use in the routing table. Since the ALSB console is providing me with a GUI tool to select the business service and operation, I'm expecting that it will take care of putting the operation name in the message after the routing step.

  • How to use "Routing Table" option in Proxy service in OSB ?

    Hi,
    I have created Business and Proxy services in my OSB console. I have used "Custom Query" option while creating the Database Adapter and I'm passing one input parameter to the query. My input parameter is "Name".
    Based on the input values for this parameter, I need to pass a corresponding values to the query. For example, If I pass the following values to "Name" input parameter (India) I need to pass "Value1" to my query -
    India --> Value1
    China --> Value2
    America --> Value3
    To achieve this requirement, I have used "Routing Table" option. I have specified the values as follows -
    Expression - $body/fet:FetchCustDataInput/fet:Name
    Operator- '='
    Compare value - India
    Service - "My Webservice"
    Operaton- "My Service Operation"
    In the "Request Actions:" I have added the "Add an Action --> Messaging Processing --> Replace" and provided the following values -
    Replace <XPath> = $body/fet:FetchCustDataInput/fet:Name
    in Variable = "Name"
    with Expression = xs:string('Value1')
    and selected "Replace node contents" option.
    No validation errors I faced. I have created the Routing table in Proxy service. But when I try to execute the proxy service in my Test Console, I get the following error message -
    "The invocation resulted in an error: Unknown error while processing message for service ProxyService OSBQueryService/FetchByCustomQuery/FetchByCustomQueryPS."
    I have even enabled "Direct call" and "Include Tracing" options as well. The message under "Tracing" give "(echoing request)
    Routed Service. No Service has been invoked, the request is echoed.".
    Can anyone please help me to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Udaya

    Did you put any loggers in the proxy at request pipeline prior to route node ? Can you trace if the request has entered request pipeline aleast.
    If not just check the transport headers under the request window in the test console. There should be a text box for entering username/password which should be left blank. I have faced this unknown exception from test console in some browsers where an incorrect username/password used to get populated here. Check this ..

    The back end service basically complains the SOAPAction http header was not included in the request. Typically this header is added automatically by ALSB if the proxy is of type SOAP and the wsdl contain the SOAPAction value for the operation invoked.
    Alternatively you can force the SOAPAction header to be set to the correct value by adding a transport header action in the request part of the routing node.

    Did you try using the Operational branching node of OSB?
    You have copy the operation name from the inbound variable and populate the SOAP Header with that value into the SOAPAction tag.I think this will work.

  • Can anyone help me what is the use of business and proxy service in osb?

    Hi,
    I am new in Osb what is the use of business service and proxy service in osb.
    I know little bit proxy service is used for actual message flow. I saw some project proxy service invoking the (using service callout,routing and publish) service,but the wsdl of the services of the proxy and business service is same.
    Please can anyone explain the flow while executing through soapUI?(that means it will hit 1st business services or proxy service)
    I have this project structure
    business service
    1.reference.biz----> this is the wsdl of ex:reference.wsdl
    2.external.biz----> this is the wsdl of ex:external.wsdl
    proxy service
    1.referece.proxy--->this is the wsdl of ex:reference.wsdl(in this proxy we are routing to reference.biz proxy service both contains same wsdls why?)
    xqueries of request and response.
    Best Regards,
    Raju.

    Hi Raju,
    Proxy Service - It is the starting point of you OSB application which deal with receiving messages, inducing logic in it like transformation, if-else, replace, java call outs,etc. You can put in your program logic here and then invoke a business service to route it to your Database or to any other queue as per your requirement.
    Business Service - It is generally used for routing purposes, like inserting the input in your Database or sending it to a different queue or BPEL process, etc..
    Cheers,

  • OSB Proxy Service routing

    Hi,
    I have a simple Proxy Service which consumes messages from a remote endpoint queue (source queue). The Proxy Service simply routes consumed messages to a Business Service which puts messages into another remote endpoint queue (destination queue).
    When I test passing a message to the Proxy Service using the OSB's Test Console, the Proxy Service routes the message to the Business Service okay where the message is then placed into the remote endpoint queue (destination queue) as expected. But, if I put a message into the remote source queue, I can see that the message gets consumed by the Proxy Service but the message remains as 'pending' and, either the Proxy Service does not route the message to the Business Service or, the Business Service does not put the message into the remote destination queue. What could the problem be?
    Thanks in advance for any help on this.

    Hello,
    Still looking for an answer to this.
    Scenario:
    When enabled, OSB Proxy Service removes any messages placed in remote endpoint URI queue, but it seems the messages do not flow within the Proxy Service's message flow itself. When the Proxy Service is enabled, the messages in the remote queue get removed but are seen to stay in a 'pending' state. When the Proxy Service is disabled, the messages get put back in the queue. What are the possible reasons as to why messages would not get processed within the Proxy Service's message flow? All the message flow does is, route the messages to a Business service which then sends the messages to another remote endpoint URI queue.
    PS: When a message is injected into the Proxy Service via the Test Console, the message flows/routes to Business Service okay without problems so I assume that the problem must lie in the inital remote queue/Proxy Service interface somewhere. Maybe permissions or transaction related issue? But I can't see any hints to anything wrong in configurations or server(s) logs...
    Thanks in advance for any help on this.

  • Route the request from Proxy Service in OSB to external BusinessService URL

    Hi..
    Just set in within a routing options in a route node, either dynamic routing or just setting the uri, depends on your specific case..

  • Calling an MFL business service from a WSDL proxy service

    Hi,
    I'm using Service Bus v2.6, and trying to call an MFL business service from a wsdl based proxy service.
    I have done the following so far:
    - Define an MFL-based business service that writes MFL messages to a JMS queue and reads reply messages off another queue, and it works when I debug this business service by itself.
    - Define a wsdl proxy service that routes requests to the MFL business service.
    Since the tutorials don't have MFL examples, I'm struggling to get this working. I've tried different ways, but no luck.
    Here's my definition of the route node in the Proxy Service at the moment.
    1. Call a custom XQuery (.xq file) to convert incoming message to an XML representation of the MFL message, and assign the result to a variable "param1"
    2. Use "Service Callout" to call the MFL business service, and set Request Document Variable to "param1" and Response Document Variable to "param2".
    When I debug the flow, param2 (reply) comes up as empty, and I don't know how to make it work.
    I've turned on the JMS trace etc and the JMS bit is working (i.e messages being written, and read by the business service).
    There seems to be something wrong with the way I call it from the proxy service.
    Any help would be much appreciated..
    Thanks

    Hello,
    Can you indicate the classpath that you use to run your client, version of weblogic and the version of jaxrpc api that you are using.
    As a quick experiment adding the jaxrpc jar files to your classpath one at a time.
    This [url http://www.javaworld.com/javaforums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Enterprisejava&Number=3801&page=12&view=collapsed&sb=9&o=&fpart=1]chap seemed to have a similar problem to you and solved it by adding the jaxprc-spi jar file to his class path. It may be that the jaxrpc-impl is causing you greif.

  • OSB example calling multiple business services using a single proxy service???

    Hi,
    I have three business services created using http urls i.e.
    1. LoginBS
    2. GetListBS
    3. LogoutBS
    My requirement is to get a list of names from GetListBS using a single proxy service and to call GetListBS I have to first call LoginBS then GetListBS i.e. after authentication and then finally logout.
    Kindly help with a detailed example for this and I am new to OSB.
    Thanks,
    Vik

    Hi Eric,
    Thanks for the response. We figured that it is possible to call multiple services with Split Join. However, we ran into the issue you described. We had a blocking call and had to wait until each of the services returned a response.
    However, we needed a Async model for our design and felt that this might not be a right fit.
    We are now looking at implementing the publish option with QoS configured as this fits our usecase better. Thanks for the help again.

  • OSB: Retrieve list of proxy service/business service operations via OSB API

    Hi,
    I would like to retrieve the list of proxy service/business service operations using OSB API. I was able to retrieve References to all services on given server using examples from documentation (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/javadoc/com/bea/wli/sb/management/configuration/ALSBConfigurationMBean.html). I'm also able to retrieve the Reference to any given service I want.
    My problem is - what do I do next? I've read here[http://www.theserverlabs.com/blog/2012/03/14/alsbosb-customization-using-wlst/] , that one can use ServiceConfigurationMBean.
    But when I execute this code:
              ServiceConfigurationMBean servConfMBean = (ServiceConfigurationMBean) domainService
              .findService(
                        ServiceConfigurationMBean.NAME + "." + sessionName,
                        ServiceConfigurationMBean.TYPE,null);
    The servConfMBean object is null.
    I know that there might be some useful info in the statistics, but my proxys are enabled for monitoring, and therefore I'm unable to obtain statistics programatically.
    I've also learned that thereis a TransportManagerHelper.getWsdlDescription(ref) method. But it throws null pointer exception. I dont understand how to use it.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    There is an API change from the OSB release 11.1.1.3 and later....
    There is a solution, but this is based on Java & JMX:
    See support on this note:
    WLST scripting needed for note [ID 1431254.1]

  • Pleeease help... regarding Proxy Service and Business Services

    Hi,
    Can somebody clarify the following? I need urgent clarifications/
    1. Can Proxy service only be a Web-service, i.e. WSDL dependent?
    2. What about Business Services? What are the different ways you can host your Business Service?
    3. How does the client connect to Proxy Service generally?Is it using the endpoint URI or the hostname/port info or by some method call?
    Finally can somebody share code samples for use cases that use already developed transport providers like TCP, File etc.? I tried to use a file as input to the Proxy Service, but how to specify XSL transformations to the XML data that are in the file, as a stage in the Proxy Service pipeline?
    My e-msil ID is [email protected]
    Thank you for your help.
    Thanks and regards,
    TV Padmanabhan (TVP)

    1. No it can be any kind of request: binary, text, xml...
    2. ALSB support a lot of different transport/protocols:
    EMAIL, FTP, FILE, HTTP, JMS, EJB, TUXEDO. In ALSB 3.0 we will add support for ERPs: SAP, SIEBL ..., MQ native and SFTP
    3. It depends on the transport. For example for file, the client drops a file in the file system, for http it opens a http connection to the URL http://host:port/address etc...
    4. TCP/Socket transport is provided as a sample transport in ALSB 2.5 and 2.6. You can look in the weblogic92/samples/servicebus folder. You can also write your own transport if you like. There is a public SDK.

  • Can a business service call a proxy service in OSB

    In Oracle service bus, can a business service call a proxy service and if yes , what is the scenario?
    Thanks in advance
    Priya

    Yes a business service can call a proxy service......for example set your PS as http proxy service and set the endpoint url of PS in the business service..... Lets say when you have three service callouts to be done...the third service callout needs to retried in case of any failures, then you may move the third service callout to a new proxy service and use the buisness service for calling it,,, use the BS retry settings for retyring..

  • Correlation Exception - BPEL - Proxy Service and Business Service

    Hi All ,
    Correlation exception
    Flow - BPEL - Proxy - Business service
    We are invoking a proxy service from a bpel process with a correlation set(property set as Yes)) and it works absolutely fine when the service is available But the problem occurs when the service is down or a remote fault occurs.
    In the fault policy we had an action saying that retry three times but when it retries three times with the same correlation set
    <Action id="ora-retry">
    <retry>
    <retryCount>3</retryCount>
    <retryInterval>2</retryInterval>
    <exponentialBackoff/>
    <retryFailureAction ref="ora-human-intervention"/>
    <retrySuccessAction ref="ora-terminate"/>
    </retry>
    </Action>
    It was throwing an correleation exception.
    since it was hitting the service wth same correletion set it was throwing an error. Is there any way i can retry for the same service with out exception
    Thanks,
    Raja
