PS/2 Pointing Stick axis problems/configuration

Hi,
I have a Unicomp EnduraPro PS/2 buckling spring keyboard, which comes with an old IBM style pointing stick and mouse buttons.  For clarity:
>>moderator edit: Removed large image. Please read Forum Etiquette: Pasting Pictures and Code. Thanks. --fsckd<<
The problem I am experiencing is that the mouse cursor seems to not recognize the left axis or something.
When pushing the stick to the right, it travels to the right normally, in a straight line.
When pushing the stick upwards, it travels in a diagonal line to the up-right.
The same for pushing it downwards, it travels down-right.
When pushing it to the left, the cursor does not move.
The left mouse button appears to do nothing.
The right mouse button acts as the left mouse button.
I have an additional USB mouse, which works perfectly well.
After researching as much as possible, I checked xinput:
─> xinput list
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Logitech G500 id=8 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Logitech G500 id=9 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ PS/2 Generic Mouse id=11 [slave pointer (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)]
↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Power Button id=6 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ Power Button id=7 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=10 [slave keyboard (3)]
It appears it is recognizing it as "PS/2 Generic Mouse     id=11" so I checked it's individual properties:
─> xinput list-props 11

And this is the point at which I have no idea how to progress from, is there a way to determine what numbers I need to set these variables to, to straighten this all out?  Anyone have any experience configuring this stuff manually at all?  Google seems to not know much about it, and the only relevant wiki page I was able to find was Mouse Acceleration.  Additionally, the man page for xinput doesn't seem to shed much light on discovering what variables one might need to use.
It also occurred to me that the recent news item regarding modular PS/2 keyboard support may have an effect, so I checked:
─> dmesg -t | grep '^i8042'
i8042: PNP: PS/2 Controller [PNP0303:PS2K,PNP0f03:PS2M] at 0x60,0x64 irq 1,12
So I don't believe that to be the issue, but I may be wrong.

Make sure that you are including the JDBC jar file in your classpath when running the application. If your compile goes smoothly, you can see the specific jar you need in the project's libararies (right click on the project to go to the project properties).

  • Problems configuring Platform Domain with MS Sql Server

    Hi,
We are having problems configuring a Platform Domain with MS Sql Server 2000.
We are using Weblogic version 7.0.0.2. These are the steps we followed
1.We manually created a database called TestDB and created a user account called
"system", pwd ==>> "weblogic" in SQL server and assigned him as the DB owner for
    the TestDB created.
    2. Changed dbsettings_properties files (Commented pointbase entries and uncommented
SQL Server entries. I gave the connection parameter as connection=jdbc:weblogic:mssqlserver4:localhost:1433
    in this file.
    3. Modified Config.xml and changed properties for DataSyncPool, WLIPool, CommercePool,WLIPool
and modified the RDBMS realm properties to point to the database.
    4. ran the create_db script and it seemed to have run fine looking at the log
    file.
    5. I then tried to start the BEA Server instance and I get the following error.
I am also attaching the config.xml file for reference.
Appreciate any help/suggestions. Thanks in Advance.

  • Why does the Point Stick on Dell Laptops suck so bad?

I have a Dell Latitude E6540 and a couple 7440's where the mouse will float if I use the pointing stick. I will use it for moving the mouse around and it is constantly moving after I stop. Let's say I want to close a window by clicking on the X. If I use the point stick to move the mouse vertically up and to the right, I will get over the X and lift my finger up off the pointing stick and the cursor will keep moving. It is SOOOO annoying. I moved to this laptop from a ThinkPad T420 and the pointing stick on that was so much better than this one. I hate using the touchpad, but when I'm fed up with this issue that's what I'll have to resort to.Someone, anyone, please shed some light on this situation. I can't believe that as long as Dell has been making laptops that this has not been an issue before. I can't be the only one affected.

Hi guys,I am about to order a bunch of hardware for my new vSphere home lab, my 16GB Macbook Pro is not enough anymore. The problem is I haven't been building PCs for ages so I am concerned I might miss something (e.g. fan, cable, tools?) or some of the components could be incompatible. So I would really appreciate your advice/help on the following shopping list (the prices are in AUD)I will have 2 ESXi hosts with SSD drives for vFlash Read Cache and 4x 1TB drives in RAID10 as iSCSI storage. Each host will have 16GB of RAM for now, will expand to 32GB later.I was thinking about 8core Avaton, but it doesn't have VT-d and is not significantly cheaper than E3, at least here in Australia. Also I thought about using Avaton as white box for the storage, but again it will cost me pretty much the same I would pay for Synology DS415+.Advice on the...

  • Pointing stick not working (EliteBook 8440p)

    Hi.
I just bought a used HP EliteBook 8440p.  The laptop seems fine apart from one issue; the pointing stick is not working.  The buttons for the pointing stick does work, so does the touchpad and its buttons.
If I open the device manager, I see an unknown device under "Other devices" (I'm not using an english version of Windows, so my translation might be off).  If I check its properties, it says "PCI bus 68, device 6, function 2".  Might this be the pointing stick?  If so, where do I find the correct driver?
I have installed the Synaptics touchpad driver, but this didn't help.  The OS is Windows 7 pro, 64bit.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    This question was solved.

Never mind.  The problem was that the ribbon cable for the pointing stick, had been inserted into the socket on the motherboard slightly askew.

  • Cursor moves when in tablet mode (screen touching the pointing stick on an X220T)

    Hi there,
when I put my X220T in tablet mode, the screen moves just enough to move the pointing stick in the middle of the keyboard to cause the cursor to move. I can't rest my hand on the screen without causing the cursor to move all the way accross the screen.
Am I missing a driver that would disable the nub when the screen is turned over it, or is this a design oversight? I've got the latest BIOS.
    Cheers,

  • Problems configuring HP Laserjet M1213nf MFP with Mac via AirPrint

    Hello,
I have a HP Laserjet M1213nf MFP printer, connected to a Dlink DSL-2730U ADSL router. I am having problems configuring the printer with my Macbook running OSX Yosemite. I can see the printers name in nearby printers but when I try to add the printer, the mac gives me an error saying, "unable to communicate with the printer at this time". The network settings on the printer are configure for iPv4 and iPv6 addresses.
Previously, I had the ADSL DSL-2750U model router, and the printer was connected fine. I did not face any issues then. I have been facing problems since I changed my router so the problem should be in the router. I have the IP for the printer reserved in the DHCP reservation list on the router settings using the mac address of the printer.
Can someone please help me out here? Is there something I am probably missing.
    Rgds
    ~n~

I talked to the DLink Support. They asked me to disable an option called "MultiAP Isolation" and Voila, the printer is working fine. I can add it to all my devices on the wireless network. I looked up google. Apparently, this isolation feature present in some routers, prevent wifi clients to interact with other devices connected to the wired network and also with each other. Thats why only my desktop which was also connected wired was only able to access the printer and not the laptops connected wirelessly.
Problem solved. Thanks for all your help on this one.
    Cheers!

  • TrackPoint pointing stick not working on brand new ThinkPadE440

I recently purchased a Lenovo ThinkPad E440 from the official lenovo website and received it two days ago. I would like to use the TrackPoint pointing stick but I can't enable it via 'Mouse Properties' in Control Panel as the entire TrackPoint section is faded out (you can't check the box that says enable). Could someone please advise me on how I can enable the trackpoint? Not sure if this is important but the laptop has Windows 8.1 installed.Thank you.

    Hi Pbahal,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
I’m sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with Track Point on ThinkPad E440.
I suggest you to uninstall current version of ThinkPad UltraNav driver, and download the latest driver for Windows 8.1 OS from the Lenovo link and install to resolve the issue.
Below is the link to enter the downloads page and install Wifi driver and check accordingly, please click on "Select Product" then in "QUICK PATH" enter the MTM no. select the exact model.

  • Problem configuring Username token profile on ALSB

    Hi All !!
First of all, thanks for your support!!
I'm facing a problem configuring an active intermediary Proxy service with username token profile. This proxy service has a security policy referencing Auth.xml file to implement Username token profile. That proxy calls a business service which calls a web service.
On test page, username and password is requested (already created in the security domain), then an error is returned "Unable to add security token for identity".

  • Pointing Stick cable clip lost - how to replace?

    Hi,
I bought a used HP 8440w in very good condition, except the pointing stick does not work and some of the keys on the keyboard were not consistent functional.
When I opened up the laptop, I saw that the clip on the keyboard zif ribbon cable was only half on.  I've fixed the keyboard issue now by securing the keyboard zif cable clip. The ribbon cable for the pointing stick was loose because the clip was missing.  There is no way for me to secure it.
Can I just order a clip instead of ordering a whole replacement keyboard?
The keyboard is perfectly fine now. I don't want to pay $50+ just to replace a tiny plastic part.
Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi Qnana,
I understand you are in need of a part for your HP 8440w. If you look at this site, you should be able to find the part if its replaceable.

If not to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at

  • 2540 pointing stick

Just bought a 2540p and although the pointing stick works fine as a pointer, it does not 'press-to-select', as my 2510p does.
Should the 2540p have 'press-to-select' on the pointing stick or not?  Many thanks.

To answer my own question in case anyone is ever interested... Yes, the 2540p pointing stick does have 'press to select' - but only if you have the right driver on the machine! Mine came with a crippled one.

  • Problem configuring RVS4000 router

I just purchase the Cisco Router RVS4000 vpn and I am having problem configuring the VPN option.  I just try all way I could imaging, but somehow something are missing and I don't know what it is.  Here are a image of my current configuration.

Without examining this in detail, it is only half of the equation.  The other end of the tunnel needs to be configured as well.  BTW, don't ever post your WAN IP and shared key in a public forum.  Change the key.

  • How is your mouse setup in xorg? (with a trackpad and pointer stick)

I have found plenty of information on the web to assist in setting
the pointers in xorg.  I have a new Dell D830.  It has both
a pointer stick and a trackpad.
I want to make sure I have this setup in a sane way.
I'm wondering if anyone has solved these and wants to post a working
    xorg.conf for me to try.
    1.  Is there anyway to control the speed of the pointer stick?  I had to do
xset m 1 1 to cancel out acceleration which made it usable.  I can live with
it, but I would like to have more control if possible.
    2.  The trackpad is working including the vertical scroll on the right.  But, double
tapping a word in any editor doesn't select the word, triple tapping selects it for a
second, and then deselects it.  It is seen the double clicks, though.  I can roll up
a window in Fluxbox by double tapping the title bar.
Note, both the pointer stick and trackpad work somewhat with this single device.  I'm puzzled
a bit by this.  I have quite a few devices to choose from.  /dev/event6 seems to do this.
Or may be it's the SendCoreEvents option.
    Currently I'm using this

    Driver "synaptics"

  • Nokia usb internet stick C-12 configuration problems and internet sharing

While set up is said to be simple, once done and you are connected the problems start when you are disconnected and try to reconnect, sometimes you can, but in the majority can't, which requires you to restart the computer, however the computer tends to freeze so you have to shut it down by holding down the little silver button. At the same time the Nokia program, which self installs itself in Network connections, has established up to 3 Links in "Location" and deleting two of them does not help, they soon re-establish themselves.
Any advice on how to configure this unit would be very much appreciated as its my own link to the outside.
In addition, when using previous USB internet keys I have been able to use internet sharing for my iPod Touch, but am at a loss with the C-12.

I had already done this and a blog by brightpointuk, on page four, setting out in pictorial format the installation helped, but did not suggested what the conflict may be after your link is dropped and you try to reconnect several times, failing this you then try to restart the Mac, but it freezes, which results in you having to press the top right silver shut down button, in the process I have seen a notice to say the C-12 won't shut down and needs to be forced quit, but as the Mac is frozen you can't do this. Once restarted its possible to reconnect until the next event and then the process may have to start over again. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Mega stick firmware problem

i had the mega stick 511 with the firmware version 2 and i updated it to version 3 and it stop working. now when i plug it into the pc it won't even detect it or recognize it to undo the updated version 3. what can i do so it will detect it, once it detected it as smp3 device but when i tried to undo the updated version it appeared an error window. what can i do?!?!?!

    FINALLY, THE SOLUTION
I have a brand new Megastick 511 USB 2.0 without FM, and I could get version 3.x firmware update done.
    My PC config is...
    ABit KV8 Pro Motherboard,
    512MB kingston RAM,
    Athlon64 2800+,
OS Win XP SP2 with every single update released,
but frankly, I don't believe this problem has anything to do with machine configuration, USB or OS issues. It's merely a question of doing the right thing. Of course, I'm assuming your USB is really 2.0 and you downloaded the right firmware and unzipped it to the MS-5511 folder, as stated in the manual.
Ok, folks. After having this very same problem for a few days, I finally figured it out. Yeah, I wanted this playlist feature this bad, and it's worth the price.
    Problems were...
    1- Device was not recognized as a USB 2.0 device, no matter the USB motherboard drivers were installed;
2- As soon version 3.x firmware updates were done, I got the old 'deadbrick' effect - oh, yeah, no lights or sounds out of the brand new player - which could be reversed with the old firmware, the one supplied with the CD.
What I did to have the playlist feature was...
    1- Took the battery OUT;
    2- Using the cable supplied, I pressed and held the play/pause button and kept it pressed until procedure was completed;
    3- Inserted the cable in a USB;
4- Windows showed the old 'hey, this device could be faster, blah, blah' message - just ignore it, as I did!
    5- Go to the MSI MS511 MEGA STICK Update program;
6- This is very important... at this point, it would be nice if the software could recognize the device, but IT DOESN'T! You will get a message saying 'Media state not started' or something like this after quite a while waiting. This mean it won't show your current firmware version! Once again, ignore it!
    7- Well, since the 'start' button was there, I clicked on it, AND I WAS AMAZED TO SEE THE UPDATE BEING DONE! Ok, I didn't wanted to format the device, as it was full of good music, but even unchecking the format option, the software keep saying this had to be done in order to upgrade the firmware - a fair price;
8- As all the copying and writing and verifying processes were done, I knew procedure was over, as the new 3.x firmware version was showing, and I could finally copy more tunes into my 511-now-with-playlist device! Only at this point I released the play/pause button.
Now, when I connect the 511 to the PC, Windows continues saying the device could be faster, but the Update software recognizes it immediatly! And for 512MB of stuff, it takes around 12min to transfer - as it did before - just in case you wanted to know.
    Enjoy, my friends!

  • 3D Rotating on it's own center axis problem...

Need some help here. This is my first time using 3D in flash.
I have a movieclip (picture 80 x 80 pix) that I am tweening to look like it is rotating like face of a cube.
    What I did:
    1. I transformed the z-axis to "raise" the picture off of the y axis.
    2. Then I rotated it around the y-axis from one end of my tween to the other.
Looks great when I scroll through the movie clip's time line but (starts on right almost paper thing, rotates to center square, and continues to the left again paper thin) The problem is when I place it on the stage and preview the swf, it rotates around its own center point and not the offset y-axis.
If I convert it to frame by frame animation, it works but I don't want to do that.
    Please advise someone.
    Thanks!

Sorry if I don't' quite get it, but my other thread was about the movieclip defaulting to the stages coordinates. In this case my movieclip's animation is rotating around the symbols center point and not around the y-axis as I would like.
I can move the transform the symbol from axis point to another and it is fine but in this case i am only rotating it but after I placed is away from the y-axies. I expect it to "orbit" around the y axis continually facing it...and it does when I move through the tweaned frames, but when I publish the swf, it no longer "orbits" around the y-axis but rather just spins around it's center point.
I hope this is a little clearer, and thanks for your other answer. I'll plug that code in as soon as I can.
