PSConfig failure after installing SP1

Hi Experts,
When I execute SharePoint Product Config Wizard post SP1 install, it always fails on the last step with logs showing:
"01/12/2015 11:19:01  5  WRN                  Unable to create a Service Connection Point in the current Active Directory
domain. Verify that the SharePoint container exists in the current domain and that you have rights to write to it.
Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: The object LDAP://CN=Microsoft SharePoint Products,CN=System,DC=domain,DC=XYZABC doesn't exist in the directory.
   at Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPServiceConnectionPoint."
This was not the case when I last installed March PU update. Is it mandatory to have the said AD container created as a part of SP1 install? In some blogs I read, there no need to bother as its an optional thing, however Upgrade Status comes as "Failed"
if PSConfig does not execute fully.
Also, I noticed the difference in the version for Config database and the SharePoint Server if PSConfig is failing.
Please help as I need to install SP1 in QA and later PROD Farms.
Thanks,
Thanks, Ashish Malhotra

Hi Ashish,
You might try running the psconfig from powershell vs the wizard.
psconfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force

  • After installed SP1 for SQL Server 2012, can no longer export to csv

After installing SP1 today via Windows Update, I am no longer able to export data to csv using the SQL Server Import and Export wizard. I get the following error message:
"Column information for the source and the destination data could not be retrieved, or the data types of source columns were not mapped correctly to those available on the destination provider."
"Column "col1": Source data type "200" was not found in the data type mapping file."...
(The above line repeats for each column)
The work-around I have to do is to manually map each column in the "Edit Mappings..." option from the "Configure Flat File Destination" page of the wizard. This is an extreme inconvenience to have to have to edit the mappings and change
each column to "string [DT_STR]" type from "byte stream [DT_BYTES]" type each time I want to export to csv. I did not have to do this before installing SP1; it worked perfectly for months with hundreds of exports prior to this update and
    no need to modify mapping.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit, SQL Server 2012 Express edition. Again, just yesterday from Windows Update, I installed SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 1 (KB2674319), followed by Update Rollup for SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 1 (KB2793634). This situation was
not occurring before these updates were installed, and I noticed it immediately after they were installed (and of course I restarted my computer after the updates).
In SSMS I just now created a test DB and table to provide a step-by-step with screenshots.
Here is the code I ran to create the test DB and table:
    CREATE DATABASE testDB;
    GO
    USE testDB;
    GO
    CREATE TABLE testTable
    id int,
    lname varchar(50),
    fname varchar(50),
    address varchar(50),
    city varchar(50),
    state char(2),
    dob date
    GO
    INSERT INTO testTable VALUES
    (1,'Smith','Bob','123 Main St.','Los Angeles','CA','20080212'),
    (2,'Doe','John','555 Rainbow Ln.','Chicago','IL','19580530'),
    (3,'Jones','Jane','999 Somewhere Pl.','Washington','DC','19651201'),
    (4,'Jackson','George','111 Hello Cir.','Dallas','TX','20010718');
    GO
    SELECT * FROM testTable;
    Results look good:
id    lname    fname    address    city    state    dob
1    Smith    Bob    123 Main St.    Los Angeles    CA    2008-02-12
2    Doe    John    555 Rainbow Ln.    Chicago    IL    1958-05-30
3    Jones    Jane    999 Somewhere Pl.    Washington    DC    1965-12-01
4    Jackson    George    111 Hello Cir.    Dallas    TX    2001-07-18
In Object Explorer, I right-click on the [testDB] database, choose "Tasks", then "Export Data..." and the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard appears. I click Next to leave all settings as-is on the "Choose a Data Source" page, then on the "Choose a Destination"
page, under the "Destination" drop-down I choose "Flat File Destination" then browse to the desktop and name the file "table_export.csv" then click Next. On the "Specify Table Copy or Query" page I choose "Write a query to specify the data to transfer" then
click Next. I type the following SQL statement:
    SELECT * FROM testTable;
When clicking the "Parse" button I get the message "This SQL statement is valid."
On to the next page, "Configure Flat File Destination" I try leaving the defaults then click Next. This is where I am getting the error message (see screenshot below):
Then going to the "Edit Mappings..." option on the "Configure Flat File Destination" page, I see that all columns which were defined as varchar in the table are showing as type "byte stream [DT_BYTES]", size "0", the state column which is defined as char(2)
shows correctly however with type "string [DT_STR]", size "2" (see screenshow below):
So what I have to do is change the type for the lname, fname, address and city columns to "string [DT_STR]", then I am able to proceed with the export successfully. Again, this just started happening after installing these updates. As you can imagine, this
is very frustrating, as I do a lot of exports from many tables, with a lot more columns than this test table.
    Thanks for your help.

What edition of SharePoint do you have and what patch did you attempt to install?
If you are on SharePoint 2013 Enterprise, please make sure you are installing Service Pack 1 for SharePoint Server:

  • It's very slow to access file server after installed SP1 of Win7.

I found it's become very slow to access shared files on file server after installed win7 SP1, (windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe),  access same file, the win7 without sp1 is fast in 5 secs, but the pc with sp1 need more than 30 secs. And
I tried to removed the sp1, everything goes fine, access fast as others.
I don't understand what's the reason and which feature affected it, I believe the sp1 can help Win7 be more safety, but why the performance on it get worse.
And I didn't find the same question or tips on forum or website, do you really haven't the issue?

  • Wireless net does not work after installing SP1 for Vista - Error code 10

After installing Vista SP1 on my computer (T61 - Vista Business 32 bit) my intel 82566mm wireless net does not work.
Windows says "Error code 10" and suggests that I update the driver. I have downloaded the newest driver via another computer, but it does not help. Still error code 10.
Any one else has the same problem?

I fixed the problem. Uninstall iTunes and then reinstall it clean. Looks like upgrading is problematic.

  • Access 2010 - Wizards not working after installing SP1

    Hi Folks,
After upgrading my Office 2010 64 bit to SP1, I've started Access and now I receive a series of errors related to the Wizards, making the software useless.
Here is what's happening (testing done in new files \ new db's):
Case 1 - Trying to insert a button in a form, while the "Use control wizards" option is activated
ERROR1: The database cannot be opened because the VBA project contained in it cannot be read. The database can be opened only if the VBA project is first deleted. Deleting the VBA project removes all code from modules, forms and reports. You should back
up your database before attempting to open the database and delete the VBA project. To create a backup copy, click Cancel and then make a backup copy of your database. To open the database and delete the VBA project without creating a backup copy, click OK
if I click ok I get
ERROR 2: The code contains a syntax error, or a <DB_NAME> function you need is not available. If the syntax is correct, check the Control Wizards subkey or the Libraries key in the <DB_NAME> section of the windows registry to verify that the
entries you need are listed and available. If the entries are correct, either you must correct the <DB_NAME> Utility Add-In, or the file acWzlib or this wizard has been disabled. To reenable this wizard, run <DB_NAME> or Microsoft Office Setup
again to reinstall <DB_NAME>. Before you reinstall <DB_NAME>, delete the windows registry keys for the <DB_NAME> Utility Add-in and acWzlib.
Case 2 - Trying to insert a picture as button background (using the properties tab)
ERROR: "Microsoft Access can't start the wizard, builder or add-in"
    What I did so far:
    a) Checked the Wizard file (seemed ok - read \ edit permitted for all users)
    b) Checked registry wizard entry (again - seems ok - no errors or bogus)
Right now I'm pretty desperate as I can't really use a lot of features. For the moment reinstall is not an option as I'm against a tight deadline. I would really appreciate any help \ support \ advice that can make this thing work.
P.S. - I forgot to mention that Access worked flawlessly before applying this SP1 - I'm really disappointed on how things turned out...
    Cheers,

  • Catastrophic windows 10 failure after installing virtualbox

    Hello,
I recently experienced complete and unrecoverable failure with the TP right after installing virtualbox and restarting my laptop.
    The symptoms:
-Black screen with cursor on boot, windows would not load any further after multiple restarts and waiting one hr+
-Unable to recover with the win10 boot disk i made, kept running into errors with any of the available options
After a little bit of internet sleuthing I found a post mentioning that virtualbox resets the networking on the PC, which in turn breaks the TP on reboot, same thing that happened to me.
I'm also unable to reinstall the TP with the win10TP boot usb I created, it keeps saying that none of the partitions match.  Right now it looks like I will have to do a full reinstall of win8.1 and load a backup image and restart.
Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone who wants to use virtualbox with the tech preview

    Hi codyvieira,
    Thanks for your sharing.
Due to current build is for technical testing, there might be compatibility issue existed between Windows 10 Technical Preview and old software.
We may wait for new version software for Windows 10.

  • CSM 3.3.1 - deployment bug? after installing SP1&SP2

    Hi all,
I've recently installed CSM 3.3.1 with SP1 and SP2 and I've encountered quite serious (for me) problem. Has  anyone met strange situations after installing service packs?
When I discover new device (i.e. router with 15.1 ios version) and make changes in ZBF policy, CSM deploys new configuration and everything seems to be fine. I must stress that only seems.
When for example I want to make only small changes to that device (by adding new username ans password) I make "preview configuration" and I see that CSM deletes part of ZBF policy - 10 of 12 zone-pair. For example for some reasons manager makes "no service-policy ...." in zone-pair. When I do another "preview configuration" (after adding another username) it deletes those empty zone-pairs. I thoung maybe naming doesn't suit it and I need to recreate all policy through CSM - nooooo. It did not help. Still it tried to delete some of policy.
Even when I created all ZBF policies from CSM Ive got situation when in one preview config it removes security-policy from zone-pair and after deployment in second preview it adds these security-policies to previous zone-pair. Its happaning in a  loop.
Or another strange behaviour is when I add new username it does sth like this:
    In "preview configuration" there is
    policy-map type inspect CSM_ZBF_POLICY_MAP_1
    no class class-default
    class class-default
        drop
while in GUI in CSM there is action inspect defined.
I've looked through bugtool, but with no success, so need any help.
    regards

    hi,
    thx for interest,
I didn't open the TAC case casue I didn't have much time for it, however the issue is resolved. It occured that SP2 to CSM was problematic. Right now I've got 3.3.1 version with SP1 and everything works just fine. To make sure that it was it, I installed then SP2 and the problem started again.
I don't have configuration saved but actually there wasn't much of it. It was a fresh system and only 1 or 2 devices ware added so I suppose it should be easy to restore the situation.
if you got any new info please let me know
    regards

  • Plug-in failure after installing Flash player.

Having terrible trouble getting Flash player to work in Safari 6.3.1 on OS X 10.7.5
It all started after installing a beta version of Firefox... that seems to break the plug-in. I've since deleted Firefox and still have Chrome installed... Flash works in Chrome (independent Flash player etc) but I just can't get it working in Safari.
I've followed the correct uninstall instructions, visited a site, followed the "You need to install Flash blah blah..." installed it and then get the "Thank you..." screen but then just get a plug-in error message immediately in the same window.
I've got the Flash Player preference in the System Prefs window, everything is set up correctly but it just doesn't work and it's driving me mad!
Please help... I like Safari! Don't make me switch to Chrome!
    Thank you.

Ok don't panic, I've sorted it now... after more investigation it turns out Adobe have bollocked up Flash Player 13.x on Macs of a certain age (2006 - 08 I think).
Find the uninstaller and then find a download for version 12.x and all is well in the world.

  • Deployment failure after installing SP11 - Error in Compiling Flex App

After installing SP11 for Visual Composer, I am now not able to deploy any of my models, even though they compile successfully.  The following was installed:
    VCBASE11_0-10003602.SCA
    VCFRAMEWORK11_0-10003624.SCA
    VCFLEX11_0-10003616.SCA
The specific error is as follows:
<i>Error in compiling Flex application: Error: Failed to read stylesheet: /vc/skins/defaultSkins.css
          (D:\usr\sap\PLD\JC01\j2ee\cluster\server0\GUIMachine_Business_Packages\TestModel_25034\FLEX_COMPILATION_FOLEDR\AAD15H.mxml:23)
    Failed to compile AAD15H.mxml</i>
"TestModel" is the name of my model in this example.  I would appreciate any assistance anyone can offer.
    Regards,
    Jim

    Hi Jim,
I have never heard of similar errors. Have you had a look at the stylesheet that is referenced? Maybe the file is corrupt, permissions are wrong or the path has changed? Try to change the defaultSkins.css.
You can also have a look at the source code after compiling. Select .mxml of iView AAD15H and have a look at line 23. Maybe you find some clues.
    Best Regards, Benni

  • Keyboard FAILURE after install...thanks Apple.

Installed an "upgrade" Leopard on my 1.8ghz Core Duo Macbook Laptop and after install the laptop keyboard would no longer work. No matter what I did, rebooted, safe mode, single user mode, nothing... No keys would register. Keyboard shows up fine in SysInfo, just wont type...
If I boot to the Leopard DVD, the keyboard works fine.
Thanks Apple for releasing this POS and making Vista actually look like a stable OS.
This is the last time I get burned like this.... no more.

    Hello all...
Just an FYI. I had the same problem with my MacBook. I installed Leopard and the keyboard stopped working. It was because of SideTrack. I was able to hook up with a firewire to my computer to my roommate's Mac and reboot while holding "T". My computer appeared on his desktop and then I went in and removed the SideTrack files. Works fine now.
Sounds like they'll have a Leopard update soon,
    James

  • Scrollong failure after installing Leopard

After installing Leopard, my trackpad failed to perform two finger scrolling on my Powerbook G4 17". It worked fine up until installation. When I look in Preferences, Trackpad, there is no longer a two finger scrolling option box to check. Any suggestions?

I would think that the best place to post this in the Leopard usage forum, as it probably is an issue with Leopard or needing an update from your mouse manufacturer for 10.5.

I should note that it was working fine before installing qemu, but I doubt that the installation of qemu is what caused this.
EDIT: I should also note that I am running Arch as the host system, not running Arch with qemu (which is what I've seen similar errors address)

  • 8500 alignment failure after installing new print heads

I replaced the print heads in the 8500 all-in-one wireless and get the alignment failed.  printer will print documents sent to it but follows with an alignment print page.  displays alignment failure alert.always prints alignment test page after every document printed.  Note:  replaced the print heads about two years ago without any problem.    patrick

Hello , I see here you are trying to get the alignment to complete successfully on the Officejet 8500, and I may have some suggestions for you. Seems odd, but the first thing I recommend is cleaning the scanner glass and white backing on the lid. Clean the ADF scanner glass strip, the white ADF plastic strip, the scanner lid, and the scanner glass. Sometimes particle's or debris on the glass can interfere with the alignment process, even on these printers that use the semi-automatic alignment process. Use only glass cleaner to clean the scanner glass. Do not use cleaners that contain abrasives, acetone, benzene, or carbon tetrachloride. These substances can damage the printer. Avoid isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) because it can leave streaks on the glass.  Spray a clean, soft, lint-free cloth with mild glass cleaner - to protect the scanner, do not spray the glass cleaner directly on the glass.  You will want to clean the ADF scanner glass strip, the white ADF plastic strip, the scanner lid, and the scanner glass.  You could check and see if you have missed anything by reviewing or even repeating the steps in this document; Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One Printer Series (A909). As well as the steps listed in An 'Alignment failed' Error Message Displays on the Printer Control Panel. Make a Note: HP recommends that you use genuine HP ink cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink cartridges or refilled HP ink cartridges. If you do not use genuine HP ink cartridges, the steps in this post might not resolve the issue you experiencing.  Another thing you could try would be to clean the electrical contacts on the printheads and inside the unit. Follow these steps to clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and inside the product. (Pulled from this document.) CAUTION: Follow these steps carefully to avoid damaging the sensitive electrical components.
Step one: Clean the contacts on the printheadNOTE: The ink nozzles on the printheads might clog if you expose them to air for more than a few minutes. The ink nozzles also might clog if you do not use the product for long periods of time.Make sure that the product is turned on.Open the top cover of the product.Press and hold the OK button for five seconds. The carriage moves to the left side of the product. Release the OK button.CAUTION: Proceed only if the carriage is on the left side of the product. If it is not, the printheads will be damaged when you install them. If the carriage does not move over, try turning the product off and on againWait until the carriage is idle and silent.Unplug the product power cord from the electrical outlet.NOTE: Do not turn the product off by pressing the Power button (). This causes the carriage to move out of reach.Lift the printhead latch.
Figure : Lift the printhead latch
Lift the handle on the printhead that the error message indicates is missing or damaged, and then pull the printhead out of its slot.
Figure : Lift the handle to remove the printheadUse a dry, soft, lint-free cloth to remove any ink from the electrical contacts on the printhead.CAUTION: Wipe only the electrical contacts. Wiping the ink nozzles, located on the underside of the printhead, can damage the printhead. Do not touch the nozzles. Doing so permanently damages the ink nozzles, and the ink stains clothing.Figure : Electrical contacts and ink nozzles
Electrical contactsInk nozzlesWipe the electrical contacts with the swab until no ink residue remains.Wipe the electrical contacts with a fresh cloth to dry them and remove lint. After the electrical contacts on the printhead are clean and dry, place the printhead on a sheet of paper or a paper towel. Make sure that the ink nozzles face up and do not touch the paper.
Step two: Clean the contacts inside the productUse a fresh, dry, soft, lint-free cloth to clean the electrical contacts inside the product.
Figure : Clean the electrical contacts inside the product
Allow at least five minutes for the contacts to dry. Check the contacts for lint or debris, and then dry or clean the contacts again if needed.Step three: Restart the productPlug the product power cord into the electrical outlet.Press the Power button () to turn on the product. 'Printhead missing or damaged, replace the printhead' displays on the control panel.Insert the printhead into its color-coded slot. Press down firmly on the printhead to make sure that the electrical contacts touch.Pull the printhead latch all the way forward, and then press down to engage the latch.NOTE: You might have to press firmly to engage the latch. If the error message indicates that both printheads are missing or damaged, repeat the steps in this procedure to clean the other printhead.Close the top cover of the product. The product restarts and then prints an alignment page.If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting. If the issue persists, continue to the next solution. You can review the Limited Warranty for HP Ink Cartridges and Customer-Replaceable Printheads for HP Inkjet Supplies, to find out if your printheads are in warranty. If the issue persists please Contact HP Support for further assistance. Fill in the model number and the form to receive a case number for quicker assistance.  Please let me know if these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Thanks,
