PSE 7 Help!!!

I uploaded a newer version of PSE from 5 to 7. Initially my photos were not coming up in the organizer. I called adobe and was told to "Get Photos" just as if I were pulling from my camera, but search and select all files under My Pictures. I did that and then it asked me if I wanted to import all the tags/keywords from Version 5. I selected all and said yes.
Problem #1- the tags that are listed are not sorted correctly and have many pictures missing from them. (ex. susie should be filed under People, then family, then susie and so forth, AND some of the tags are not ones I have created)
Problem#2-the clock at the bottom of the screen is still going and has been for about 2 1/2 hrs with a message "Generating Thumbnails"...should it still be going and once it stops will that fix my tags/keywords and sort everything like I had it in version 5?
One note: I currently have about 25K photos within PSE..so that may explain some things.
Please help!!

Thanks soooo much!! I unistalled ver7 and reinstalled after creating a catalog in ver5(I had never created a catalog in ver5), didn't know I needed to until now.
After reinstalling ver7...it had all my pics in the organizer, however, my tags were not attached..so I followed the steps in the link you gave me, (I had tried this earlier, however, there was no catalog to convert from ver5, so it couldn't convert), after following these steps after realizing that I needed to create a catalog in 5, it worked perfectly and carried over all my tags, keywords and organizing. Whew!!
With 25K+ pics, I was very concerned...Thanks soooo much again for your input.
IT WORKED!!!
My family thanks you too, b/c I have been pretty cranky with all this mess.

Pse help with syncing and nonpurchased music from itunes to iphone using icloud

Pse excuse myself for being such a noob. I am trying to sync music from which i have ripped from cd's to itunes using icloud. When i go into the purchased section there is no music to sync obviously as i havent purchased any music only ripped cd's. I beleive that this is where the music has to go to in terms of syncing to iphone. Is this correct or am i way off pse help guys.

Why would you lose anything? Your contacts will be in whatever desktop program you have chosen to sync your contacts with, your Apps should be in your iTunes Library, and everything else should be on your computer too (assuming you've been syncing/backing up as designed).
Are you trying to sync music from a different computer than you normally use?

On-LIne PSE Help Not Available

I installed PSE 12 on a MAC (Maverick OS). The software is from a special COSTCO edition. When I open PSE I get a message that on-line help is not availalbe and to reinstall. I reinstall the software, but continue to get the same message. What do I do to get on-line support while using PSE?

PSE 6 seems to lack PSE help

I recently installed PSE 6 for mac on my new Macbook pro. It came with a new epson printer. when I try to search for help in the PSE menu bar there is no PSE topics. There are Mac topics but nothing related to PSE and no option for online help. Should i uninstall, reinstall?

The blue search box is an OS X system-wide feature, which only searches the menus of the program.
But don't you see this:
If you select Photoshop Elements Help, that should open the Adobe Help Center for you.

Pse help. K7T66Pro2 cannot access serial ports in DOS window

My K7T266Pro2 won't access serial ports in a DOS window under Windows 98SE.
Windows programs can access the ports but no DOS programs - including my modem program, banking program, Tapcis Compuserve program and MDMDR a serial port diagnostic program.
I have tried both setting the ports in BIOS to AUTO
and forcing the standard values for com1 and 2
and I have verified that the serial ports are set for:
com1 irq 4 i/o 3f8
com2 irq 3 i/o 2f8
I know my way around serial ports.
Every other motherboard I have used under Windows 98SE has had no problems accessing the serial ports
under DOS.
I asked my dealer to try another K7T motherboard. He loaded Windows 98SE and could not access the serial
port in a DOS window either.
Is this something funny about K7T boards?
Do others have this problem?
This is a quite urgent problem. Please help.

I'm in deep trouble and tears with 10.6.5, Pse help

Have a big job to finish on my iMac, my primary machine.
Was running just fine on 10.6.4 but installed 10.6.5 downloaded off the normal software update, so I can update my iPad when OS4.2 comes out. The installation appeared to go fine. Machine restarted, installed downloaded files, and then automatically restarted as I presume it is intended to
*Then, just the start up sound and straight to a white screen.
*Tried to zap PRAM. Didnt work.
*Then and this is where it gets ugly, put in bootable CD with Disk Warrior to boot from CD. Didnt work. Tried every trick to eject CD from holding down the mouse, to Cmd Opt Shift Del. Nothing will eject the start up CD.* Nothing will take the white screen away.
Now I have a white screen, a CD stuck in the drive that wont eject or boot the Mac, a job to finish and I just am quite desperate!!* In fact its hard not to have a panic attack right now.
This morning it was fine. Now its not. I'm trying hard not to curse Apple.
*Please, please assist with some advice. I'm in South Africa and there are serious limits to what people know here.*
Nothing works. Im really scared I'm going to be in for a big bill to dismantle the machine to get the CD out and lose all my data as a result of the upgrade that wont boot.

Don't curse Apple. You must have tried updating a dysfunctional system resulting in corrupted system files. Unfortunately this means you will have to reinstall OS X. Fortunately doing so will not erase your drive.
First: Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
4. Press COMMAND-E.
5. If none of the above work try this:
Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
/usr/bin/drutil eject.
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into single-user mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.
Once the disc is ejected do the following: Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Reinstall OS X as you normally would and just follow the onscreen instruction. Your files and data will not be removed. After reinstallation the machine should restart normally. Reinstallation may take 45 minutes to an hour and a half, typically.
Last: Download 10.6.5 Combo Updater and install the update. You should be good to go.

IPhoto Library Repaired and Corrupted...pse Help..

Hi and tnxs for reading.
Today I had a big issue with iPhoto 9.5.1.
I use it daily and the integrity of my photos is paramount.
I have multiple Time Machine Backups for this reason on different HDs and TC.
Today, while transferring through USB my photo from iPhone to the Mac (running Mavericks), it suddenly shutted down. That was probably due to an old USB to lightning cable not working properly. I replaced it with a new one and the issue did not appear anymore.
However, when I opened iPhoto again, it automatically did a Photo Repair. At the end of it, I noticed that my Events were not sorted manually as they were before but alphabetically, but the worse thing is that I have a folder “Repaired photo” with 200 photos: 30 of then are blank and if I click them I get a message informing me that there is no reference anymore to that photo. As regarding the other photos in the folder, they are both in the folder and in the original events (as far as I have been able to check).
I would like to be sure to have everything repaired correctly. What is the best thing that I can do?
Can I rename the photo library to keep it as a backup copy just in case I cannot go back to the original, and restore the last Time Machine backup of my Photo Library? If yes, what is the correct procedure, step by step? Anything I risk by doing that? any reference or any data I am going to lose if I go for it?
Any other advice please just if there was another test to do with the current library before going to use Time Machine backup?

The best course would to restore the library backup copy made just prior to the aborted download and problem occurred. Then reimport the photos from the iPhone.

PSE 10 "help" - error message re Adobe Air

I am unable to access the PSE help within PSE 10. Each time I get an error message indicating that the problem relates to Adobe Air and that I should re-install it (Adobe Air). I have tried re-installing both Adobe Air and PSE10 but the problem persists - any suggestions

A clean re-install should have solved it.
I'd do these steps:
Close PSE.
Use Task Manager's "Processes" tab to kill any running Adobe or PhotoshopElements processes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall Adobe AIR.
Reboot.
Get the latest version of AIR from here:
http://get.adobe.com/air/
Install AIR.

Help component in PSE 11 won't work

Installed and unistalled twice PSE 11 but to no avail. Help Component contents will not work, such as Getting started, Forums, Support, PSE help, Video tutorials etc. Seems browser will not activate.
Any opinion and solution?

PSE 8.0 Cannot See All Tools

Good Day Eveyone:
I cannot see all the tools that are listed in PSE Help for PSE 8.0. For example Healing Tool - I only see the Spot Healing Tool on side of my screen. I do not see both clone tools. How do I get these other tools listed? Thanks.

Photoshop Elements 9 "Help" crashes on Lion OS X

I just installed Photoshop elements 9 on my Lion Macbook Pro. I took all of the software updates and I cannot launch any of the help topics. Everytime I choose help from the menu a dialog prompts me to restore windows then the entire "help" application crashes! I've scoured the adobe website for assistance and landed here. Finding help seems to be incredibly difficult, especially finding help for the online help. Has anyone else had a similar experience? What can I do? Is reinstalling a good idea? Where can I go to send a request to adobe for this issue? I'd like to speak with a representative.

Question. Help me get started.

I have PSE7 and PSE8. I could never get my cataloge to convert or move from 7 to 8. I gave up. Now I would like to start again. I am considering purchasing PSE 11. Will my catalog in PSE 7 to convert, or migrate or what ever to PSE11? What advice is available? Is it possible to talk to a human re: purchase?

Can I open Organizer in PSE 9 without having it organize my images?

I'm using PSE 9 strictly for its editing capabilities. I have over 8,000 images stored on my PC and don't want their organizational system changed. Horror stories seem to indicate Organizer will automatically try to reorganize my images if I open it but I'm curious what else Organizer might offer that I DO want to use. Can I open the Organizer tab without launching an automatic reorganiization of my image files?

I apologise that this not a 'reply' to the original question, as I don't know how to that.
This is in fact my own question.
1. I use PSE 7 or my just installed PSE9, "how do I organize my photo's" the suggested PSE way?
2. What I would really want to do, is CONTROL the pix that I want to come into 'Organize', when I do my different tasks. How can I do this?
3. Right now my PSE7 Organize photo's fill up PSE7 with so many pix, it is more confusing than helpful.
4. I just Installed PSE9, and told it NOT to use the organize pix from PSE7. Now I can't bring any pix into PSE9 Organize. When I try to bring in pix
    from'FILE", like I always would like to, the ONLY File Types that PSE9 is looking for, are "XML". I have NO xml pix file types?? Where is the XML file type
    coming from??
It seems that Organizier has turned a simple 'gather' pix event, into something very complicated.
I have read many pages of PSE Help on Organize, but it had not cleared this up for me. I understand that there is a way to 'group' or maybe 'TAG' my pix, so they may catergarized for selective imports, but even after reading the HELP, is not at all clear how this is done, or if it is what I want to do.
All I want to do is:
A. Bring in ONLY the pix I want, FROM FILE, (I assume Organize is proper way to do this), for each project that I happen to be doing, not All my pix at once. For a
    Collage as an example.
B. I want the choice of bringing in several pix at once sometimes, and do this "FROM FILE", at my selection.
Can this be done?
