PSE10, Auto Analyzer freezes the hell over

Hi,
I am in trouble with PSE10 Auto Analyzer. This feature nver worked well and v10 is even worse. I have a good PC but Auto analyzer just freezes the whole thing. It even lock the PC off the Internet.
Exemple, 6000 pictures catalog, 8 CPU, 12GB of ram, SSD Drive, WIn7 Ulti.
PSE10 freezes. I tried to disable all Auto Analyzer in the options, it looks a little better.
Also I tried a couple time to run Auto Analyzer, then the progress bar show Starting Auto Analyzer 0% and stay stuck there for hours. The PC cannot even be accessed remotely. Have to force reboot from the power button.
I am not happy with PSE10, it looks even worse than PSE7, 8 or 9.
Any idea why this is sooo bad?

My PC is new, rated at 7.1
I had Photoshop organiser since 2002, the Element since 2004 for several versions and 3 computers. Actually, I was already using photoshop back in 1991.
By moving the files around and loosing some of them sometimes, I may have ended up with a bad catalog. I also had issues witht the former PC and PSE9 but not to that extent.
I tried to create a brand new catalog, then I do not get the freeze anymore unless I try the infamous analyzer but I loose all of the classification work I have done over the years.
Also, by moving things from a drive to another and from a directory to another, I get the catalog confused but there is no way I can move 6000 photos from within the organiser.
I find two annoying things, 1) cannot move massive quantities of photos at once from within PSE
2) PSE auto reconnect is searching at random in every drives/folders making this feature a total flop. It would be so much better to be able to limit the search to a specific root folder rather to have this stupid search all over the place behavior.
There are thing I find great in PSE but the things that are not great start to really bug me.
Next thing I want to try is to look into the catalog file, if by any chance it is some kind of xml doc, then I can edit it directly with replace functions rather than letting the software doing a sub-par job.
I may have totally misunderstood PSE even if using it for many years and even if I am profficient in IT but if I did not get it, it mean something is questionable. It should not take a PHD to use PSE.
Is there any chance Adobe can look into my catalog file see what is wrong? The stock repair command find nothing wrong.

You don't state your version of Elements, and that is important, since most of the tasks of the autoanalyzer have been removed from version 13.

Thank you for entering this thread. While you are here, could you clear an important point at an appropriate time so as not to interfere with the good discussion that you are having with elenah at the present time.
In the details for what you and elenah are exchanging, this has nothing to do with the Elements Organizer's AutoAnalzyer options. You can leave them on or off. What this has to do with is an inescapable process of Premiere Elements, that is, conforming audio files (cfa/pek) and conforming video files (mcdb). When you and elenah point to Edit Menu/Preferences/Media, you are pointing to the conformed video files.
Now here is my question to better understand for all of us what happens when the user click Clean Now at that location.
Set Media Cache Size
Default 5 GB
This is meaning to me
a. The file size of the Media Cache Folder in Common Folder is going to be whatever results from the program automatically piling conformed video files (mcdb) files there, be it 1, 5, 50, or 500 GB or whatever.
Cleaning up that pile up and stopping the pile up are different. We are talking user clean up here and not user being able to stop the conforming process.
b. For project automatic monthly, the Clean Now is triggered to reduced that Media Cache file size to 5 GB according to the preference set.
For user manual on demand, the Clean Now is triggered to reduced that Media Cache file size to 5 GB according to the preference set.
At no time is that 5 GB set going to limit the program from piling up as much as it wants/needs to in that Media Cache Folder in the Common Folder for its required video conforming.
Have I interpreted the above correctly or am I overlooking essential factors? In the above interpretation, I see no bug but rather the way the program is designed to deal with video file conforming. In elenah's case, I wonder where the Media Cache Folder video conforming files are tracing back to in the Elements Organizer or elsewhere to generate 50 GB of conformed video files.

Love the Bundle (PSE8/PE8), but I HATE THE AUTO-ANALYZER

Hello everyone;
I'm a big fan of the Adobe Bundel's (PSE & PE), I have been using them for over 3 years now, I started with PSE4/PE2, then PSE6/PE4 and now PSE8/PE8. I'm also a very avid user of the Organizer Yes I do, Call me Crazy, but I do like it. To be honest I cannot complain.
But, Dear Lord in the Heaven; What was Adobe thinking when they release this version with that THING called "Auto-Analyzer", it just create such a mess that is incredible. I wonder how the &*^%$ they tested this "Alien Thing", I think I now the answer for that one; They used Just Folder with only one photo.
Yes I did turn On the the "Auto-Destructive-Analyzer", and just imagine what this Virus did with over 15,000 pictures and 100's of video clips. So, after I recover from the SHOCK of this "Auto-Destructive-Analyzer", I turn it OFF and Untagged all those "Smart Tags".
Please ADOBE create a FIX to UNINSTALL/DESTROY/DELETE the "Auto-Analyzer" from the Organizer so nobdy will be able to turn it on by mistake.
The Bundle (PSE8/PE8) so far; I like it, But PLEASE, take my ADVICE DO NOT TURN ON THIS "THING".

I guess I spoke too soon! I really can't believe this nightmare is not over yet! My account is still wrong. The credit that I was due totaled $63.00 I am looking at a message on my phone saying that $21.01 was credited which makes my balance $219.72. I received a text the following day that says, I processed your credit of $30.00 and your new balance $216.73 how is that possible? None of the late fees were credited and the amount due for my monthly charges are wrong. Before any changes were made to my data plan back in Nov. My monthly charges were $140.00, I needed my hot spot back and i was told that the hot spot will increase my bill $10 for each phone that totals $20. The customer rep that change my data plan at that time also gave me a credit of $20 to compensate for the increase until I had time to talk with customer service about the mix-up with my Hot spot. I originally had the hot spot, but the rep that change my plan almost a year prior told me nothing was changing except I was getting more for less money. I explained to that rep that I need my hot spot 4 times a year...and I don't want my plan to have any changes. To verify what I'm telling u check my account and see that I called from Albany New York wanting to know where my hot spot was and I was told I didn't have the hot spot on my account since the last data change! I lost money once again due to the verizon rep's. so my current data plan the rep promised would increase $20 which makes my monthly charges that were $140 prior to the change $160 after the hot spot was returned to my account. Then I was given a $12 credit per month for 12 months because of so many mistakes made to my account so with that $12 credit my monthly charges should $148 + surcharges + taxes and that's not what I see. I do know this much right now my account is in such a shambles I can hardly see the light at the end if there is an end! I need real help!

Elements 9 Auto-Analyze Causes Crash

I'm trying a trial version of Photoshop Elements 9. I've discovered that whenever it tries to do the auto-analyze function, the software crashes. I had to disable the "Analyze Photos for People Automically" to keep the software from crashing after startup. But still, it defeats the purpose of being able to do facial recognition which is the main reason why I want to upgrade from Elements 6 to 9. It crashes even if I try to analyze ONE picture.
I've read other posts but couldn't find any solutions. Is there a fix for this? Without the facial recognition, there's not much point in upgrading. In fact it forces me to look at other alternatives such as Google Picassa which does facial recognization just fine on my computer. But I'd prefer to stick with Elements if possible.
Any help would be appreciated.

I did have everything unchecked in the Media Analysis preferences. It would still crash whenever I manually ran the Auto-Analyzer from the context menu or the "Start People Recognition" button.
I went ahead and checked just the "Face" option but the results are the same. When I click the "Start People Recognition" button, it brings up a box that says "Analyzing Your Media", it pauses for several seconds and then it crashes.
Any other suggestions? Do you know if this a software issue or a hardware issue?

Orgainzer- auto analyzer language

I used the auto-analyzer for the first time and the key word tags appear in a foreign language.
How do I change the language to English?

To build on Barbara's suggestion, PSE has a number of problems dealing with the metadata in TIFFs produced by some Coolscan scanners (even though that metadata is standards-conforming). What format are the problem photos? Try opening them in the Editor and resaving them, and see if the auto-analyzer does any better.

Auto-analyzer options

I recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements6/Premiere Elements 4 to Photoshop Elements 8/Premiere Elements 8, and so far I really like the idea of the Auto-Analyzer. The one thing I've done is disabled the analyzer on startup.
However, when video clips are imported and analyzed, some of them are split due to content (I have a FlipVideo UltraHD so split by TC does not seem to be available). Firstly I do not want the content split at all, and secondly, the thumbnail for the first frame is removed. Is there a way to get the Auto-Analyzer to stop splitting? There are not many analyzer options, so I'm hoping there is a trick I can do in the registry. If I cannot disable auto-scene-split, is there at least some way to get the thumbnails back on the split scenes?

I just found this post, so I apologize for the late reply.
To the question regarding the destructive powers of the analizer, well it totally messed the dates in my video clips.
All of my videos (except for the most recent ones) now have the same dates!!
After a lot of reading and analysis, I've come to the conclusion that the analyzer changed the dates on my clips. My clips now have the same dates so the chronological organization of my videos went down the drain. All pics are fine
By looking at the dates applied to my files, the are all near the end of the year, right after installing PSE8 but before knowing the annoyances of the analyzer, so I'm leaning to the fact that every time the analyzer ran, it changed the dates of a bunch of clips to the date it was run. Now I have all my clips with their dates in either one of these three dates: 11/19/2009, 12/19/2009 or 12/24/2009.
Looking at the affected files in windows explorer, I found that the "modified date" has been changed to one of the three above mentioned dates. I'm now thinking that the analyzer was the culprit.
Also... in the scene groups it created for some (not all) videos, only the top clip has the wrong date; the hidden clip retained the correct date.
Does this make sense to you?
If so, I would appreciate your comments.
I've taken this to Adobe CS, but still no conclusions from them.

Auto analyzer performance improvements in version 9

Has anyone run performance tests on a manual execution of version 8 of the auto-analyzer and compared this with version 9?
I'm runing PrE and Organizer version 8 and am actually quite happy with it. I have many hours of video and thousands of photos which have been 'organized'. I'm taking advantage now of the manual execution of the auto-analyzer feature for my videos. I'm now a week into this running my computer 24x7 and figure I have another two weeks or so to go before auto-analyzer is done executing. I currently have M2T (1440x1050 60i) and DV-AVI flavored clips.

In my experience, everything about version 9 runs more efficiently than it did in version 8.
When I had version 8, I couldn't even run the Auto Analyzer in the background because it would stall my computer. In version 9, I can leave the Organizer to run the Auto Analyzer (aka Media Analyzer) in the background and it doesn't interfere with my work whatsoever.

Are you running Premiere Elements 8 as the 8.0.1 Update. If not, please do so

The automatic Background Rendering and AutoAnalyzer features of version 8 are major grabbers of system resources.
The 8.0.1 shuts off the automatic Background Rendering feature. See Edit Menu/Preferences/General and the background
rendering option there.
But, you have to shut off the AutoAnalzyer feature yourself in the Elements Organizer part of the program. To do that:
1. Click on the Organizer tab in the row below the active Organize header in order to open the Elements Organizer.
2. In the Elements Organizer workspace, go to Edit Menu/Preferences/AutoAnalzyer options and turn them all off.
3. To get back to the Premiere Elements workspace from the Elements Organizer workspace, in the Elements Organizer
workspace, go to File Menu/Exit.
But back to what you actually wrote

Are you saying, with Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 closed, that you are having these freezing problems with the non Adobe programs mentioned OR are you multitasking with Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 project open when the freeze occur in these non Adobe programs?
In the context of an opened or closed Premere Elements program, please check to be sure, when you close Premiere Elements, that the close is reflected in the Task Manager/Processes. When Premiere Elements is closed by you, are you still seeing it displayed in Task Manager/Processes?

Glxinfo/glxgears freeze the system like hell

I am running the latest updated Archlinux 64 bit box:

I am using openchrome and X runs fine. NO freezes in normals runs but as soon as I type glxinfo or glxgears it freezes the system an I can not do anything. keyboard, mouse all stop responding as if my system is dead, the only solution is Manual Reset button on my cabinet.

Welcome to the world of Unichrome. Via's integrated graphics chips open gl support in Linux is very poor. I have KM400 and I got GL working with it somehow. When libgl was updated to version 7.0.1 in extra-repo installing it broke the opengl on my system. X simply locked up when ever I tried to start any opengl software. I found from the openchrome.org:
"The 3D driver that complements the openchrome driver can be obtained from the DRI project. For now you should use the Mesa-6.4 branch; the last version known to work sort of reliably is Mesa-6.4.1."
I built libgl, unichrome-dri and mesa -packages with ABS from Mesa-6.4.1-branch and installed latest openchrome -driver from svn. Now opengl with my unichrome chip works pretty "stable". Of course it can't run the latest opengl -stuff but atleast I can run Blender with my laptop.

In the middle of an email composition, an address drop-down appears & I have to close the app. & lose my work. Or it will just hang up. This is new. What the Hell is going on? Has Microsoft taken over Firefox?

Firefox has recently started hanging up in the middle of an email composition; I have to lose my work & restart the app. to continue. Or, it will drop down an address list which cannot be removed; same result. What the Hell is going on? Has Microsoft taken over Firefox?

If you disabled the PSE 12 Auto Analyzer

For those who disabled the PSE 12 Auto Analyzer by putting a space into its name, be sure to go back and take the space out before running the 12.1. update. The update resets the auto analyzer to its original state, so you will need to go back and redo everything if you want to prevent it from running all the time after the update. I never had the Windows version set problem, so I don't know the update fixes that or not, sorry. Maybe someone who had it can post about whether or not it's still a problem in PSE 12.1.

Not for me (Windows 7).
I did not change anything for the renamed exe.
As the update seemed to be ineffective in the editor help menu, I started the update from the organizer. Once the update process started, I closed the editor and organizer, which I thought would speed up the process. Everything went well. The new ElementsAutoAnalyzer was updated in the the 'Roaming' subfolder. The old renamed one, was still there. No sign of the process visible in the task manager. Closed Elements, still no background process. Restarted the computer and the organizer : no background process...
I could not replicate the version set problem since the workaround; same since the update.

why the hell there are adds every where now? it was not the case earlier? and why the hell every time i change the home page to be the default one, the min i restart Firefox it came again to the same silly page i don't know from where the hell it came from?!?!
it was a very pleasant experience to use Firefox, but not anymore, i like it even its heavy on the machine and stuck alot lately!!!
the crash reports NEVER managed to be sent i don't know why!!

Sorry you are having problems, but probably some adware or malware.
Thanks for including System Information. I am not familiar with "''Vonteera Free Ads''" However it is apparently adware. Take care with advice followed from internet searches I would for instance NOT try the YAC site or tool.
Using the Firefox addons manager and the Windows Control Panel remove any obvious unwanted toolbars or programs. Then scan with multiple and fully up to date tools.

Please follow the advice in the link immediately above and then do the full scans as mentioned lower down in this post.
I note you have a ''user.js'' file that may need attention separately.
Post back saying what you tried and what the results were.
