"Publish Site" is dimmed and I can't publish.

I made some changes to an existing website and tried to publish those changes, but the "publish SIte" icon at the bottom of the window is dimmed. Some of my websites listed along the left side of the window are red, but I can't do anything about it.
Any suggestions or help?
Thanks!

Make another small change, like moving an item a couple of pixels, etc., to each of the pages you edited earlier and see if that will activate the button. OR try using the File ➙ Publish Site Changes menu option.

  • DO NOT UPDATE TO iWEB 2.0.3 - I did and I can;t publish anymore!

Ah, crap. I should have know never to download a new iWeb update before its been out for a few days. Ever since upgrading to 2.0.3 I get the dreaded "An unknown publishing error has occured."
Once again, Apple f's up iWeb.
    What a joke.

Hmm. I'm having the same problem. Have tried deleting tffs and pngs just in case it is an old problem recurring (or at least older posts regarding this "unknown publishing error" suggest the images are the culprits). This didn't fix my publishing problem.
Your fix suggests that the "publish to .Mac" function is (1) different from the "publish all to .Mac," since one works and the other doesn't, and (2) that the "publish to a folder" function is certainly NOT the same as the "publish to .Mac" and (probably?) the same as the "publish all to .Mac". My worry is that if I delete the site folder and then can't publish to it after all, then I might be stuck with no site instead of a dated site. I suppose that simply dragging the site folder from .Mac space to my desktop (and then dragging it back should the fix fail) might work; but, there's no guarantee.
Has anyone tried a "publish to folder" save after employing this work-around?
    Thanks.

  • Updated a page and now the "Publish Site" stays gray and can't update the site. What's up?

Updated my iWeb page and now it won't publish. "Publish Site" stays gray. What to do now? I'm not using Mobil Me. FTP published. Workd before. Haven't a clue now.

Try making a minor change to that same page, like moving an object a couple of pixels one way or the other, and see if the File ➙ Publish Site Changes menu option will work for you.

  • SP2010 and Infopath: Can't publish form, getting "An Administrator must approve this form template before it can be filled out"

    Hi everyone,
I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on this issue that I'm having, publishing an InfoPath form to SharePoint 2010 sharepoint site. To start off, I am admin of the sharepoint site I'm publishing to, with full permissions; I am NOT a central administrator
for sharepoint services though, that is our IT manager.
I have designed a simple form, questions and text fields, a button at the bottom to submit, and in the Submit Options for the form I added some emails to whom the form will go to once submitted.
I published the form the first time successfully, selecting:
    -Publish
-To a SharePoint server with or without InfoPath Forms Services
Selected the site where I am an admin on
-Enable this form to be filled out by using a browser
    --Document library
etc, next, next success, I got the URL for the form.
Went through just fine, until I opened the URL for the form and realized that I left the option to display the form Menu which I didn't want displayed to users.
I went back in InfoPath and removed these options from Form Options (Browser), tried to republish it, and at the "Enable this form to be filled out by using a browser", the first two options "Document Library" and "Site Content"
are no longer selectable, greyed out, and instead I can only select "Administrator-approved form template (advanced)" option.
What gives here? Why was I able to publish it the first time without any issue, but once I remove the option to show the menu in the browser, I can't republish it. This is such a huge pain and causing so must wasted time trying to find a solution. I have no
code in the form, it's a simple form. I tried adding the menus back, and it's still giving me the same problem about admin-approved forms..
About 6 months ago I designed another form for another sharpoint site, and I remember having run into this issue before but found a way to get around it, but I can't find that info anymore.
Can someone shed some light on this please, I find this behavior so inconsistent..
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Teredactle,
Based on your description, I did a testing per the below:
Create a blank form with InfoPath Designer, and add a Text Box and a submit button, the submit button send an email to a people.
Publish the form to a new library in my SharePoint site.
re-open the form via InfoPath Designer, and click File->Forms Options->Web browser, unselect some options
Then re-publish the form. I re-published the form via the Quick Publish and Publish->SharePoint server, they all worked well.
Whether you can use Quick Publish to publish the form.
As I cannot reproduce your issue, I suggest you create a new form, and test again, compare the result.
And test on another site, check whether this issue occurres on other sites.
    Best Regards,
    Wendy

  • Tells me iDisk is full, and I can't publish my website

    Hello,
I'm using iWeb '09 and recently took on the mobileme 2 months trial period. It will end on the 17th of April.
I began publishing a blog and it worked really well ( I have not more than 7 articles though ).
But now, all of a sudden, on the website main page in iWeb, the bar at the bottom shows me that iDisk is full and that I can't publish the website anymore.
Of course, my iDisk is not full, it has 9.05 Go available out of the 10.77 maximum capacity...
I checked on the Finder of my computer as well as online on the mobileme website and both tell me I still have plenty of space in iDisk.
Thus, I can't publish my last article (pretty small, une page of text and one photo).
If there is anyone who can help, I'll be grateful
    Thank you,
    Nicolas

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First make a backup copy of your Domain.sites2 file that's located in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. Then try the following:
    1 - close iWeb.
2 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
3 - go to your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
    4 - reboot.
5 - launch iWeb and try again.

  • The screen for my ipod touch 2nd ge has gone dim and i can barely see anything! what do i do?

the screen on my 2nd gen ipod went dim very suddenly and i can't get it to go bright again! i went on the brightness settings but it doesnt seem to make a difference...

Try the standard fixes to rule out a sftware problem:
    - Reset
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If you still have the problem than an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IMovie icon is dim and I can't click on it?

    Hi
The other day I noticed a blue bar under my applications folder. I opened it and saw that iMovie is dimmed and has the same bar under it and I can't click on it. It looks like it's updating but didn't finish or something. Anybody know what's going on?

    Hi halula3,
It looks like you had an update to iMovie stop during installation and never resumed or completed. See this article for how to get it started again -
OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1338
If it does not resume, you may need to go to iMovie’s page in the app store and click the “Update” button.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Why does my bookmarks automatically show up in my browser bar as soon as I start typing "www"? So every site I visit and bookmark can be seen by someone who might just happen to be at my PC while I/we search?

If I have "www.gambleitall.com" stored as a bookmark and I go to my browser bar start typing www...all my bookmarks (including www.gambleitall.com) will show up. But these are not history. Bottom line...a bookmark should not show up in the browser bar just because the website you are entering contains matching letters as your bookmarks. Lack of privacy.

If you have visited a bookmarked site then it will become history.
You can change what you want to see in the location bar drop down list:
    * Tools > Options > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest: History, Bookmarks, History and Bookmarks, Nothing
    * [[Smart Location Bar]]

  • I changed web hosts and can't publish through iWeb SEO Tool or Rage Site Map Automator. Do I need to delete the old site map?

I switched to iPage hosting since Mobile Me is expiring. Also recently upgraded to OS X 10.7.3 and am using iWeb 3.0.4 for my web site design. I published directly to the FTP from iWeb but all title tags, meta tags have disappeared and I'm not showing up in Google or others. I tried publishing from iWeb SEO but it couldn't complete the process.
Should I first publish to a folder as I did before with Mobile Me, then delete all old sitemaps and start over with the Site Map Automator and then try to publish from the SEO tool? Will I lose the key words and meta tags that are already in iWeb SEO?
    Thanks!

The problem is that most tech support people don't understand how iWeb structures a site.
When a visitor types in "domain-name-com" the browser expects to find an index.html in the root folder on the server. In "normal" websites the index.html file is the first page of the site.
The iWeb index.html file is a redirect to the first, or landing, page of the site which is the one at the top of the left column in iWeb just below the site name.
    iWeb produces two index.html files.
One is outside of the folder containing the rest of the files and directs to - folder-name/home-page-name.html
The other one is inside the folder and directs to - home-page-name.html
You have two choices of how you upload the files since you are publishing to a local folder.
You can upload the whole folder plus the external index.html to the root folder on the server and the URL to any page will be...
    http://www.domain-name.com/site-name/page-name.html
If you upload the contents of the site folder, and not the folder or the external index.html, the URL will be...
    http://www.domain-name.com/page-name.html
See this page for more info and the warning about breaking the RSS feed....

  • Differences between Publishing sites and publishing enabled document library

    Hi
what is the main differences between Publishing sites and publishing enabled document library
and how to enable publishing for document library?
    adil

Publishing Sites is an out-of-the-box site template designed to publish web pages and it comes with a pre-built workflow or without (depends on which template you pick). It comes with libraries such as Pages library, Publishing Images, or Site Images.
It is configured to fully customized the master pages (or add new ones), and page layouts.
There is no such thing as publishing enabled document library. A document library is not designed to publish web pages. You can have Site Pages library in a team site, but if you are looking to fully brand a site collection, then this is not your answer.
You will need to use a Publishing Site to fully brand your Internet or Intranet site.
You can enable the publishing infrastructure on any site that is NOT a publishing site, but this does not turn your provisioned site to a publishing site. It simply turns on publishing features, such as navigation management, master pages/page layouts management,
    publishing workflows, etc....

This is my scenario... I'mon my first mac! I signed up for .mac today and never used .mac before. well, I sued it to post some pics while on my trial and that worked like a charm.

  • Can I publish a site to a non-.mac domain?

I am a real new mac user, less than a week. I just got a power mac G4. I bought iLife, and set up a web site. I have had my own domain for a few years now. I published my site to my .mac account, and pointed my domain to it. The domain is www.hanklambert.com. My question is can I also create sites for others who have their own domains (my mother) and publish it directly to her hosting domain? If so, where can I find out how to do that.
    Thanks in advance,
    Hank Lambert

Yes, you can. But to keep things simple, I would suggest that you create multiple accounts on your computer to publish the different sites. That way you don't run into issues with two or more sites in the same Domain file, switching Domain files, etc.
Just create a new login account to your computer...say, for your Grandma's site. Open up iWeb there and you should see a blank slate. Once you have her site designed, just publish to her .Mac account or "publish to a folder" and you can FTP it to her webhost if she doesn't have .Mac.
The whole point is to keep your site separate from other sites that you might design. The easiest thing would be to have a different user account for each site if you are going to be administering these sites regularly.
