Publisher 2010 is changing my layout in print mode/view

I'm trying to print a banner across several pages in Publisher 2010.
This is my problem in a visual nutshell:
This is how I want it to look:  http://i.imgur.com/0Kq75KW.png
This is how it changes in print view:  http://i.imgur.com/wleUaZL.png
As you can see, it's adding a thick white margin on both ends.
I have:
- Changed margins to zero and to other amounts.  (The white margin width stays the same.)
- changed the length of the "banner" and the margin changes with it.
- Tried to align it to the left, because it looks like it's centering it in print view.  In normal view/edit mode, the picture then shifts all the way to the left, but print mode is completely unchanged.
- I've tried moving the picture drastically to the left so that it's way off the banner template box.  The margins are unchanged, and the left side is just completely cut off.
I just want to it print in the exact way that the standard view shows it.
PS.  My printer allows me to print without margins, so that isn't the issue.

Hi,
When I was testing, I found the same puzzle that you met:
After trial and error, I found the solution: to change the Horizontal overlap and Vertical overlap in "Layout Options". See the example below, after I changed the Horizontal overlap and Vertical overlap to the certain numbers, the white margin disappeared.
Since I'm not working with the same file as yours, I don't know what overlaps should work for you, you will also need to try. Hope this can be a hint.

  • HP Officejet 8500A Pro Plus changes internet layout when printing

    My new 8500A Pro Plus changes the layout when I print from the internet.  My option is set to "preserve the layout".  For example, when there are three items in a row, it will print two on one row and push the third to another row by itself, even when there should be plenty of room for it to print as laid out, and even if I set the print to landscape.  This shows in the print preview, and happens when I print from another computer.  How can I get this to print properly?

    From the front of the printer: Setup > Network > Restore Network Defualts.
    Now, from the same Network menu, run the Wireless Setup Wizard.
    If that does not work, tell me about your new router.  What brand & model?  What kind of encryption (WEP, WPA, etc)?
    Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • How to change the layout of a category view

    I don't know how to change the layout of a category. I want to put 3 image's behind each other followed by some text, like a table with 4 columns. Instead of puting then in 4 rows

    larsprevo
    The category 'view' of items/folders uses the default style of the content area it is defined in (shared categories use the default shared style). Edit the default style to change the font/color of the items/folders returned within the category 'view'. Unfortunately, you don't have the ability to control the layout(like folder regions) - they always display in rows.
    Added an enhancement request for a feature that would allow you to control the display of items/folders in a category/perspective: 1828423

  • Page Layout when Printing slides from Keynote

    I don't often print my Keynote presentations, but I would like to be able to print FOUR slides on one sheet (landscape format) with one slide in each quadrant or corner. All I can select --as far as I can tell-- is a single column with all 4 slides minutely scaled down the page. The slides are far toooooooo small to read. CAN I CHANGE THE LAYOUT FOR PRINTING SO THAT HAVE 2 COLUMNS OF 2 SLIDES EACH? Many thanks for your suggestions!

    When I do Print > Handouts > 4 slides per page, it puts the slides stacked on top of one another (ie 1 column of slides, 4 rows). I assume you would want to have 2 columns of slides and two rows. I don't know how to do this in Keynote, but if you are in Keynote, just do a File > Export > PDF. If you are printing in color, I'd select Image Quality > Best. Once you have the PDF of the presentation, open it with Preview. From Preview, do a File > Print. When the Print "window" comes up, you select your landscape orientation. At the bottom of the window, you will see a dropdown option that says "Images per page" and select 4. This should do the trick.
    Be careful when you do the export from Keynote to PDF. There are a lot of options to include or exclude page numbers, builds, etc. in the PDF.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can users without Publisher 2010 view (read only) Publisher pieces in a SharePoint 2010 library?

    I'm (very) new to SharePoint 2010 and fumbling my way through it with a certain amount of success. We have a variety of Publisher 2010 items I wanted to be made available in a library. Not all of the users in the group have Publisher, so I converted them
    all to PDF...which doesn't seem to work with SharePoint 2010. So my question is...if a member of the group does not have Publisher 2010, will he or she be able to view these same items if I post them as read only in Publisher? OR, even better, is there
    a workaround for PDFs? Thanks so much! --SMGKatz

    EDITING original response to Mike Smith below.
    Updated here:
    At Mike's suggestion, I tried the XPS/XML route and we have a WINNER!!! Multiple problems solved.
    Thanks, Mike!
    This is helpful and leads me to a second question... we all have either Adobe Acrobat X Standard or at least Acrobat Reader, but the PDFs were giving us trouble. When you mention "a PDF viewer" were you referring to Acrobat Reader or is there some
    sort of plug-in that plays with SharePoint?
    The only way to convert them to Word would be to save the Publisher pieces as images and drop them into Word, which I can do. I had hoped to post items in the library that users could download to use and the PDF is much more versatile than a Word document
    for this purpose. I haven't yet tested the quality/resolution of the PDF vs Word w/ an image dropped in, so I don't know if this would be an issue, as well.
    We've always gone the PDF route. Maybe I'll explore XPS options and see how that works out for me. I have to be honest, I never knew what XPS was until you mentioned it and I looked it up. So thank you for that, as well! That may end up being my solution!

  • How do you change the default size of the print batch size for mail merge in Publisher 2010?

    I appended this question to another thread with the same topic but have not received a reply, so I'll try with a new question. Publisher 2010, when doing mail merge, will only merge and print two records at a time. How do you change the default size of
    the print batch size? This is for a 4 page document, 8 1/2 x 11, printed two sides on 11 x 17. I've tried all the suggestions that were in the other thread. The response that was marked as the answer by the moderator is incorrect and does not work. Nothing
    suggested in that thread works. A registry fix that worked for Publisher 2003 won't work because the print batch size key does not exist in the registry for Pub 2010. At least not that I can find. Printing to an XPS document doesn't work. It asks for a filename,
    prints 2 records, asks for new file name, prints 2 records, asks for new file name, and so on. The same for printing to a PDF document. Merging to a new Pub document doesn't work. When I print that job every other sheet is turned over. I.e., sheet one has
    pages 1 & 3 on top, next sheet has 3 & 4 on top, and so on. This makes it impossible to run them through the folder. The same thing happens when I print that complete merged document to XPS or PDF. I have the latest drivers installed for our printer, a Toshiba
    2500C copier/printer connected via network. What do I need to do to to change the batch size to something reasonable, like 100 records?

    It's been two weeks since I posted this question. What does it take to get an answer? I cannot believe it's being ignored, nor can I believe that someone in MS doesn't have an answer.

  • Problems printing Microsoft Publisher 2010 into an Adobe PDF

    I have been trying unsuccessfully to print something that I made in Microsoft Publisher 2010 into an Adobe PDF. I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and Microsoft Publisher 2010. When I first purchased both programs about 9 months ago I was able to print the Publisher. NOw I receive a message when I try and print saying 'Publisher cannot perform that operation'. When I look under Printer Preferences with Adobe PDF in Publisher, the top 3 fields are blank. I have tried to edit but it will not let me. I have gone to my printer section and opened Adobe PDF Printer device and it shows all of the settings as they should be. I am not sure if it is an issue with Adbe PDF or Microdoft Publisher. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    First I click Print and I choose Adobe PDF from the drop down menu. Then I click Printer Preferences and under the Adobe PDF Conversion Settings, the top two are Default Settings and Security Settings. They are blank. When I attempt to edit them to add in the settings that I want i.e.- PDF/X-1a:2001 it will not let me do anything and it will not print. I checked the default settings and preferences under Devices and Printers and it has the correct information.

  • The appearence of tables in some Word 2010 documents changes after KB2880529

    I wanted to alert you that, since our company has applied
    KB2880529, some users are reporting Word 2010 documents (docx) having their appearence changed.
    More precisely, the issue concern the table inserted in the Word document : They are all messed up. For exemple, the begining of the table can look ok, then a few lines of the table are
    badly miss aligned (like moved 2 cm to the right), then you've got a few normal lines, then again several bads, and so on.
    Also, some of the cells, that were in the last column of the table, may appear half outside of the table.
    And the worse part is that, even if you take some time to manualy fix the table, when you save the document and re-open it, everything is bad again, and exactly as it was before... so basicaly
    the save doesn't work for the tables (it work if you change some text in the table, but not for the table itself (size of the columns, location of the columns, so on)).
    I can't profite any file because they are of a very sensitive nature and can't leave our company, even if I remove most of the content, our IT security doesn't allow it.
    Anyway :
    - we are absolutly sure it's
    KB2880529 that does that because when we uninstall the KB, and re-open the document, it look normal again.
    - it seems to concern only documents that were created using some old Word 2003 templates some time ago, and then opened in Word 2010. As far as I know it doesn't happens on 100% Word 2010
    documents.
    So, we are currently doing a package installed by SCCM 2012 in order to uninstall it on all the PC which received it a few days ago.
    Let's hope you'll correct that issue... and if possible that, in a near futur, you'll had a feature in SCCM 2012 to allow us to unintall KBs, like it was possible with WSUS.

    I'm sure there are some ways to fix the files one by one. Indeed, our tests indicate that it's possible, for exemple, to open them in "LibreOffice 4.2" (a fork of OpenOffice), which displays them correctly, and then save the file in .doc and then use
    Office 2010 to open this .doc and save it in .docx.
    But what I've forget to indicate is that the issue touch probably thousands of documents that have been placed in a "document management application" (I'm not sure how to correctly translate) over the years, documents that may be hundreds of users need to
    look at, for reference, from time to time... but basicaly the documents are "frozen" / archived, they must not be edited by anybody.
    I very much doubt you can expect MS to not apply updates, including via the next Service Pack, just because some tables in some of your documents are corrupt. Besides which, the same problem will quite likely resurface when you next upgrade to a newer version
    of Office. Ultimately, someone is going to have to check out all the documents with tables and verify their content. The scope of that project might be narrowed down after you've checked a few documents and found some common features between those with the
    corrupt tables. It's easy enough to write a macro to test the files to see which ones have tables. That can serve as the first step in narrowing the scope of the project. It's also possible have the macro that repairs the files restore their
    original time/date stamps if that's important.
    An entirely different approach would be to temporarily uninstall the update on one PC. Then use that PC to convert all the documents to PDF. Then use the PDFs in the "document management application". Since the documents "must not be edited by anybody" the
    PDF format is inherently more secure in that regard and can have security attributes set to prevent printing and/or content copying. The PDF format is also impervious to Word's tendency to change document layouts whenever you do little things like updating
    printers or changing between doc & docx formats.
    Cheers

  • MS publisher 2010 to PDF using Adobe Acrobat X Pro produces outlines on some of my images that are not there on the publisher file!

    I am helping a client publish a book through Createspace. We are both using Windows 8 OS. She created her document in MS Publisher 2010. I made the necessary edits to her book, (111 pages) and saved it as a pdf for commercial printing. The resulting pdf puts lines on some of the images. (All the images are jpg format, but it only happens to some.) I have tried creating the pdf in several different ways including print to PDF, Save as PDF, and Save and Send Wizard for commercial printing. I have also tried deleting and reinserting the images. I don't know what else to try. Does anyone have any ideas.
    The image below shows what I mean. On the left is the Publisher File, on the right is the PDF.

    I agree with your statement; even for a particular document, if I choose to "Print on both sides" and then print again immediately after, "Print on both sides" will be deselected.
    However, I'm not sure what you're implying by you're statement. I'm asking precisely why this setting isn't sticky. Acrobat uses a non-standard printer dialog; in the usual dialog I can easily set a defualt duplex setting. I almost always want to print duplex. Why can't I do this by default in Acrobat?

  • Print Layout Difficulties - printing in landscape mode

    Haven't upgraded to Pages 2 yet; in the meantime, here's a question related to Pages 1:
    How does one properly print in landscape mode directly from Pages? I'm trying to print a simple CD booklet, but all I get when printing directly from Pages is my page printed at the bottom of the page. This happens even when I select one of the landscape orientations (and I've tried all of them) from the Print Layout before printing.
    I'd simply change the page setup, but Pages gives me no way to rotate any of the objects once my once-horizontal document is now vertically oriented.
    On the other hand, if I do a print preview and save as PDF, I am able to print in landscape orientation from Preview. Which is fine, but having to take the extra two or three steps is frustrating.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hullo Kevin:
    I'm a bit surprised (and intrigued) by this. Seems to me you're starting off right, and the only suggestion I have to make (directly, that is) is to check whether you've used the available scaling options: i.e., if your landscape mode fills only half the page, will 200% make it fill the lot - or is the landscape orientation just refusing to rotate your content? From what you say, maybe it is, and you'll have found the way around it. But it seems pretty odd to me that you can print from preview as you want, but not from the original. Maybe somebody else can shed some light on this for you.
    But the most constructive reason I have for replying to you is that I do recall a CD booklet template - which might save you a lot of trouble. I can't tell whether it will suit you; but very likely it might.
    You'll find it on Gerry Straathof's pagesuser.com. It's called Monkey Business CD Booklet, for a CD that was released with it, and the content would seem pretty flexible within the template: it could like as not suit a very different look from the sample shown. Please notice the conditions that go with it, but I think I summarise them fairly in that it's mainly the content that is protected, rather than use of the template.
    In any case the site is live - it has a forum just like this one; and by the way Gerry seems to know his way around Pages pretty well, so you might like to put your question more directly to his notice by posting it on his site.
    So I've no real answer to your question - but I hope helps you to find one.
    Best Wishes and Good Luck.

  • Why did you have to change the layout of Firefox?

    I would like to know why you have gone and changed the layout of Firefox?
    I am still on Fx 3.6.18 because quite frankly 5.0.1 looks horrible.
    Why did you have to change everything and move things around. Why couldn't you have given us the same layout as 3.6.18 but with these new upgrades.
    I will never download Fx5. 3.6 was perfect.
    Also how can I contact Fx without upgrading?

    Sorry the old Feedback page - Hendrix - used with older versions of Firefox was disabled near the end of 2010.
    In Firefox 4+ versions there's a Help > Submit Feedback... menu item which leads here: http://input.mozilla.com/en-US/feedback <br />
    But you can't submit feedback there with an older version of Firefox, currently you need Firefox 5.0 or higher.
    The decision to change the GUI was made by Mozilla collectively, not by a small group of developers or by one person. If you put your efforts toward customizing Firefox to suit your tastes, it would be a lot more productive than trying to find out who to blame and where to complain about the changes made to Firefox. Geez dude, it ain't the end of the world. It's only a web browser, which can be easily modified to make it look like you thing it should look.

  • ITSMobile - Problems when changing screen layout with CSS

    Good afternoon,
    I have a service ZLM00(SICF) with some public screens in the stile MOBILE4(Service of  internet-se80), and I am trying change your layouts with CSS.
    Steps taken:
        1 u2013 I activated the repository MIMES (/default_host/sap/public/bc/its/mimes);
        2 u2013 I copied the mobile.css from internet service standard ITSMOBILE for my service ZLM00(se80) with the name ZRF01.CSS;
        3 u2013 I added the parameter ~ITSMOBILECSSINCLUDE = ZRF01 in my service ZLM00(SICF);
        4 u2013 I published all screens and file ZRF1.CSS;
    The problem:
          When I test the service in the browser, I see in the source code that the file CSS was added u201C<link rel="stylesheet" href="/sap/public/bc/its/mimes/zlm00/99/ZRF01.css" type="text/css" />u201D
          And the screens received some changes, however when I added a new line in file CSS for exemple
    /* --- Basic Row -
          .MobileRow {
            white-space:pre;
            vertical-align:middle;
            background-color:#F3F3F3;  "new lineu201D

    No.
    If you want to see how the screen will look; look in the iPhone/ iOS 7 section of this site.
