Punch in monitoring

I have cs5.5 but can't use it in multitrack since whenever i try to do a punch in i can not monitor the track before or after the punch in.
I have downloaded the trial version of cs6 and this function work fine.
Currently i am forced to use Au3 which is also quite fine when executing a punch in.
Is there any likelyhood that cs5.5 will get a fix for this problem?

I would doubt that there would be a 5.5 fix released for that.
Strangely I used to use the punch-in function quite a lot in Au3 but then found it was a lot easier and more effecient (for me) to just drag the original take down to a new track and just start recording where I would normally punch-in on the original track and then I would mute the track with the original take (if necessary) when I got to the part I was recording over.
If I needed to do several takes over the same spot then hit ctrl-z and shift-space and your off and doing another take until you get a keeper

Here's the easy solution:
- Open Firefox
- type "about:config" in the URL bar - obviously, you will be careful ;-)
- type "browser.newtab.url" in the search bar
- (you'll see under "value" that nasty bing.com address it keeps sending you too)
- right-click on the selection and 'reset' the entry
Result: you will get Firefox' standard tile configuration with most used URL's

Need help with swf inside swf

Hello. The last few weeks I have come along way in flash,
being new to the whole software. I have watched numerous video
tutorials, one from www.entheosweb.com about creating a simple
gallery.

So after this, he saves as fla. I want it to be a movie I
embed on my flash website, labeled gallery. I have tried different
ways to do this, import to library. I exported my gallery as an SWF
movie, AND of course, FLA so I can go back and tweak as needed.
When I import the SWF to the library, so I can place it in
the gallery frame of my master movie, it brings in ALL the pictures
and next and prev buttons. It brings in all the frames into the
library, AND the SWF file. When I convert the swf to a movie clip,
and stick it in the page, its there in my gallery page, but its
playing REALLY fast, and all the action script I wrote for this
gallery has gone away. The prev and next buttons don't work. What
am I doing wrong?
I have read where I have to use file>open to library and
import the .FLA, but thats like 17 frames, and not a flattened
movie. What do I do then?

File length question...

I'm a java student, and I'm having problems. I have to take the information from a Vector, and write it to a disk file on the A drive. Then I have to be able to read the file back into the Vector for processing. I can't find any info on how to do that. I've seen 347 different ways to CREATE a file that isn't already there... but how do I set the length to be written, and then how do I read and transfer the data back into the Vector? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! I'm so frustrated that my wife is worried I'm going to break my hand from punching the monitor so hard...

Why don't cells align top?

First, I am a print designer and this web stuff is just too geeky for me. I never had a problem with this type of thing in FrontPage, but it seems to me like DW likes to do what it wants to do regardless of what you do with your mouse. What I mean by this is I click on something and it doesn't "stick".
Anyway, I'm trying to make this simple little table (yes, tables, CSS is a programming language and I don't get it). I want the images and text to line up at the top of each cell. Used to be easy.

WHY do the first item in waterproofing.html and the last item in undertile.html refuse to align top? Why do all items in decks work? I know I have messed around with these files because I get frustrated and then things just get weird and don't work. Every time I get to a point where I want to punch my monitor I start over and I end up with the same cr@p.
Is there a heirarchy between HTML and CSS? Why can't you use JUST ONE? I think I'm compounding my problems by just trying to click on everything there is to click on. Don't have these problems in print...

I'd make sure you control the margin and the padding on the paragraph tags like the previous page.

Also you need to make sure the images in the left table cell are aligned to the top of the cell. By default they are aligned vertically in the middle of the cell.
You could select the <td> cells individually, go to the properties inspector and select 'top' from the 'Vert' align pop up in the lower left corner.
You could tell all content on your page to align to the top of the table cells with css:

Frustration WILL I'm afraid get the better of you unless you know how html and css work. There is no quick fix, its months and months of a steep learning curve, just like any other profession. It takes time and patience.

Direct Monitoring a track while punching in?

Greetings!
I'm using the Saffire Pro 26 for my direct monitoring. What I'm doing is turning the output off on the track I'm recording to so the "blended" signal doesn't come through while I'm tracking. (latency'd vs. direct). If I "blend" the signal is just sounds nasty.
What I'm trying to figure out is how to MONITOR what I just recorded and punch in at a specific place without dragging the audio down to another track with an output set, and then trimming the audio where I'm punching in so it doesn't hang over when I start tracking.
This obviously isn't a problem when I'm software monitoring through logic, but even at the buffer set to 64 (as low as it can go) it still doesn't "feel" as good as direct.

Just for the sake of completeness:
Since the new recording will overlap the old one, if you just drag it straight in you will replace the "count-in" section of the original track. This is nothing to be concerned about because you can drag the right-edge of the original track back over the "count in" section of the new track (you could also drag the left and right edges of the new track to make the region smaller so it slips right in.

Nested Multicam Monitor Punch-in Issue?

I've gotten requests for providing "a little bit of everything" involving videotaped music performances. Previously, I've only provided a whole song utilizing the multicam editor window to scub back and punch in then roll edit to the beat.
"A little of everything" required syncing up all the footage and creating a multicam src for each song. More work :^( I'm glad to see that I could cut & nest the best parts of each performance.
Then something strange...
I srubbed back to the beginning of the next song, pressed the red record button in the multicam monitor, highlighted a camera angle, pressed play and though I recorded properly, seeing the correct song in the multicam monitor and/or the program monitor.
Upon playback, the previous song's video continued to play, overwriting it subsequent nested song. The audio is uneffected. I assumed, no problem, just delete the previous song & ripple/roll edit back the next song's clip to the beginning...
But the next song's video start is now stuck where the previous song ended it's overdub/overwrite. So I believe pick-up "punching in" (like audio) in nested multicams is not allowed. Is this true?
I believe now I must ...
1. Make a rough recording pass in the multicam monitor. Do NOT stop, scroll back, switch camera angles and punch-in across nested multicam's start and end edits/borders.
2. Use the ripple tool to slide cuts to the beat, then manually chose a camera angle directly from the video clip's pop-up list in the timeline.
3. Possibly use the razor tool to add a new edit point to switch angles.

BUG: Software monitoring and playback levels

Have you ever thought your headphone monitoring level jumped up or down, for no apparent reason ? I think I may have found out why... try this:
1) Turn ON Software Monitoring. Independent Monitoring Level can be on or off, it doesn't matter. Take an audio track with active regions on it, arm that track for recording, and press play. Move the record fader up and down--it will adjust the level of the playback audio. All is good. Move this fader down around -20dB, so you can hear the track, but it's quiet.
2) Now, stop the transport, turn OFF Software Monitoring, and press play again. The track's playback level has not changed, which is fine. Move the record fader up and down--it doesn't do anything. Would be nice if that fader controlled the playback volume, but that's more of a feature request. Here comes the real bug...
3) Take the track out of record, then put it back in record. Press play: BOOM!, your playback level on that track has now jumped to 0dB. And there's no way to change it--regardless of the level set by the record and play faders, you're now monitoring at 0dB.
4) Turn ON Software Monitoring, and everything goes back to normal--the playback volume jumps back to the setting of the record fader. Now, turn OFF Software Monitoring, and your monitoring level will stay where you just put it UNTIL you take the track out of record. Next time you re-arm the track, it will jump back to 0dB.
Very weird, eh ?
As best I can tell, when Software Monitoring is OFF, the only way to change your playback monitoring level (for a track armed for recording--using auto-punch, etc.) is to turn Software Monitoring ON, then back OFF again. That will set your level to whatever the fader is showing. But once you take the track out of record, the level resets back to 0dB.
Assuming this isn't some bizarre corruption of my system, maybe we could get Apple's attention to fix this ?
And I think there may also be a related bug where the live input monitoring level jumps (regardless of visible fader position) while Software Monitoring is ON, but I can't reproduce it. Just thinking I've experienced that from time to time, too, and it's such a similar problem to this one...

This happens to me on a fairly regular basis. In my case, the input volume is always LOWER than the fader position.
I will be, say, recording an electric guitar part. Software monitoring on (I monitor thru Logic). The fader is at 0dB, and the guitar on input is a bit loud in the mix, but good for overdubbing a part. After a few passes, the level on input, or even while in record, will drop a good 3 or 4 dB. Hit stop, hit play, and the playback volume is loud again. Go into record, and it drops... the fader was never touched.
This is isn't every time I record, but common enough to not surprise me... It's definitely a bug

Macbook Pro not waking up with external monitor

I've connected an external display to my MBP. I've been able to work out how to mirror the two.
But when I try to have the lid closed and then wake up the laptop with my wireless keyboard, the external monitor displays the desktop for a moment then also goes to sleep.
No matter how much I punch the keyboard nothing happens.
By the way, when I am running in closed lid mode I have disabled mirror.

Think I found a solution.
If I enable System Preferences>Bluetooth>Advanced>Allow Bluetooth Devices to wake this computer...it all seems fine

No audio on punch in

Hi all,
hope someone can help with this one.
Sometimes when I am doing drop ins using punch on the fly, no audio gets recorded..weird. If I deselect the record button and reselect it it seems towork again but this should not be surely. I am not using software monitoring but instead using cuemix dsp on my motu 192hd to avoid latency problems.
Any suggestions would be most welcome as it is a very annoying problem.

yes, it was happening to me also. my work around was to create a new track for the same audio object and do the overdubs there. But now I think I figured it out. I have to have the track I am recording to selected or no audio records. So even though a track was record enabled, no audio would record unless that track was highlighted. I don't know if this is the way it is suppose to be but, that's the way I have to work.

My PC monitor

I need help with this I'm using an HP w2338h monitor "23 wide LCD monitor . At start up of my PC or alone the monitor briefly displays the message "entering power save mode" no mouse clicking or keyboard punching revives it. If I click a button the the monitor it turns on again only to re-display the recent "entering power save mode" message again. Please help me! It was working fine earlier I don't know what else to do I cannot get pass this screen! I need professional help or someone who has recently solved this problem... Successfully

Please re-install Graphics Driver and that should resolve the issue

Multiple Monitor, change number!

My windows recognize my displays wrong.
My monitor is the "projector" (2) and my tv is my "monitor" (1).
Anyone knows a way to change it?
I have tried swap the cables, swap the hdmi entrance, nothing works.
Currently using a ATI graphic card, so the catalyst don't have the "display manager", driver beta, bla bla bla...

First of all, it seems like about 80% of the responses here are not only from idiots, but from idiots who didn't bother to read your entire post, not to mention don't know anything about anything. Pointing out obvious control panel functions is the most
unhelpful (and infuriating IMO) thing someone can do, especially considering the fact that most people in a situation like this will have looked around before resorting to posting about the issue, not to mention, anyone who has
BASIC computer skills (doesn't just use it as a facebook machine) knows about display options & the fact you can set one as a primary monitor & that you can move the monitors around to arrange how the displays are placed in person,
but the problem remains that it STILL labels the wrong screen with the wrong number. MOST if not
ALL of you think this is meaningless, well I assure you it is
VERY MUCH NOT. It is a
HUGE issue for people like me especially, who use software like Objectdock, Rainmeter & about 80% of the time don't have the screen which thinks is #1 even on, so it screws me over. It messes up everything, makes most of
my programs open on the wrong screen, which is off & I can't get to (infuriating & often either only fixable by aero hover+right click+move+right arrow key+drag mouse or not fixable AT ALL without somehow turning on that monitor to find & fish
the window out). Objectdock keeps shooting my docks onto the wrong monitors, and Rainmeter, Rainlendar & Objectdock can't handle a simple thing such as trying to tell the computer the monitor is disconnected....everything goes haywire. I have a Nvidia
card. I even bought DisplayFusion, and though I bought it for other reasons, I was really hoping it could help me with this....it does not in the least. The shortcuts don't even work, so even though I set it to bring all windows to my primary monitor on win+shift+right,
or whatever, it doesn't ever happen.
Then I have this other weird, infuriating problem, where a lot, or MOST
windows, if they don't appear on the screen I have off, they appear underneath my taskbar, which is on the top of my screen where it belongs, and I have never been able to fix this either. This is not something I can do anything about, either, about 80% of

When recording in punch mode- how can i hear the input prior to punch point

When in logic 7- i was able to set a punch point (formerly auto-drop) -- and have a client sing/rap/play to the track-- and before and during the actual selected area for the punch--you could hear the current input as well as the old track.
Now-- when i do the same i logic 9--- i can't hear what my client is doing prior to the punch point-- and neither can they. it only plays the audio track that already exists and only allows us to hear the input once the punch point happens.
Is there a setting somewhere where i can change this?

You should turn off "Auto input monitoring". I only have L8 and there you find it under Options->audio->Auto Input monitoring. Would guess that its in the same place in L9

Why cant i login to the server monitor tool on the server, also tryed from a remote machine.

Use the local path provided in Server Monitor. To add the entry for Server Monitor running directly on the box that is being monitored, [you can use the localhost/127.0.0.1 path|http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24514] or the local system option within the Server Monitor menus.
I'd encourage setting up a VPN solution here on your firewall, and not opening up the IPMI path through any firewall. Low-level console and similar hardware-level access can be a powerful attack vector, whether for a remote user that guesses right or for a currently- or formerly-authorized user that goes rogue. VPNs have various advantages, not the least of which is that you don't have to punch gazillions of protocol-specific holes through a firewall to get work done. And you can more centrally and more easily authorize (or de-authorize) specific remote access, given a decent firewall.
If you do want to expose your IPMI to the wilds, here's the [Apple Well-Known Ports List|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629], and you'll find the IMPI LOM stuff and Server Admin listed in there.
And for completeness, here is the general [LOM configuration sequence|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2773]. Remember to physically pull the plug to power-cycle the LOM itself; the LOM stays powered when the box itself is shut off. Pulling the mains for some seconds forces the LOM to reload its configuration and its network settings when power is restored.
Why localhost? NICs can serve multiple network addresses, and you can't get an IP packet out from one address on the box on the NIC, and back in the same NIC on a different address. Ethernet just doesn't work that way. And the host and the LOM can use the same NIC, though with different addresses.

WAAS FLOW MONITOR and NETQoS integration ( what ports do I open)

I am having issues integrating WAAS flow monitor feature with NetQoS in version 4.2.1.
The WAAS applicance fails to establish the initial session on port 778 with NetQoS which I believe it is needed to set the next session on port 9996 or 9995.
We have opened a "hole" for the WAE to register but still no go.
Any help will be appreciated..

The port used to communicate between the flow monitor and the NetQoS Aggregator and Management Console is TCP port 7878. You should be able to use the show commands on 4.2 to show the connection status. If the firewall is blocking that port, you'll want to punch a hole and it will continue to try to connect.
