Purchased Movie transfer

I've got two movies which I have purchased from Itunes.  One is on my iphone, one is not.
On my Mac, when I click on the movie, Itunes tells me that it can not find the movie.  How can I transfer the movie from my iphone so that it is on my mac?

Thanks, but the link to the iPad user guide was not particularly helpful.
It turns out that iTunes is not smart enough to let me download movies to multiple devices.  So, I had to transfer from my iPad to my library, and then transfer from there to my iPhone.  I would have expected iTunes to know that I had purchased it, and just let me download it again on my other device.

  • Unable to transfer purchased movie to iPad

I recently purchased "Twilight (2008)" and tried to transfer it to my iPad.  I got an error message that said that it was unable to do so because it is not authorized to be played on my computer.  However it plays fine on my computer and it sync'ed fine w/ my AppleTV.  It is HD/SD and has iTunes extra.  I tried setting the iPad preferences to "prefer SD version" and not include iTunes extras when syncing w/o luck.  I contacted iTunes support and they told me to repurchase and try again so I deleted the original purchase and purchased it again w/o any luck.  This is the only movie where this is happening.  Other movies have sync'ed fine and purchases since this one have also sync'ed fine.  Support told me that I would have to contact Tech Support which would charge me for support which totally bites because this is clearly a problem on their part.  Any ideas from y'all?
By the way, I'm using latest verion of Lion on a new Mac Mini w/ latest iTunes update.  iPad is iPad 1 w/ latest updates.

    *** FIXED ***
Just to update.  After posting the previous message, I was unable to sync any purchased Movies or TV Shows after Nov 15th to my iPad or iPhone.  When I tried to sync, it kept saying that those purchases were not transfered because they were not authorized for my computer (on which I purchased them).  All movies and TV shows purchased prior to Nov 15th would still sync fine.  Music and music videos have had no problems regardless of purchase date.
I suspected that there was something going on w/ iClouds because it was about the time that iClouds was rolled out that things stopped working for me.  I have two apple ID's.  One is for all my iTunes purchases which I've had forever and the other was more recently set up (couple years) for MobileMe.  I'm not sure if iTunes was confused because of this or not.  Things seemed to go wrong about the same time I made the switch over the iCloud using my MobileMe account.  Even though I purchased everything only using the first Apple ID maybe it somehow thought I was trying to sync using the second which had no authorized purchases.
At anyrate, I just got off the phone w/ tech support who figured it out for me.  There is a folder on your main HD under "Users/Shared" called "SC Info".  It is apparently contains configuration data for iTunes.  If you delete that by putting it in the trash then restarting the computer, it should solve this issue.  So the path to that folder is main_HD --> Users --> Shared --> SC Info.  After deleting this folder and rebooting, you will need to re-authorize your computer in iTunes then re-sync your devices and everything should transfer OK.
Hope this helps for anyone else who may be having similar issues.

  • Can't transfer purchased movie from iPhone to iTunes library

I purchased a movie from iTune store on my iPhone. When I sync'd the iPhone with iTunes an icon was created in iTunes movie library, but there's no movie, just an icon. The purchased movie is still on my phone. I've re-sync'd, re-built iTunes, etc... No luck.
How do I get the movie from the iPhone to iTunes movie library?
I've researched this for a couple weeks and have failed at every turn.
    Any input would be appreciated.

    tried that long ago...:)

  • Purchased movie from Itunes wont sync with Iphone but rental movie will????

I purchased a movie from Itunes and it shows up in my library movies but it wont sync with my iphone. Before I bought the movie i rented a movie to make sure it works and I liked the format so I know that it can auto sync with the iphone. In they Sync section of Itunes under videos it only has 2 headings. Rental movies and TV shows. There is no option for Movies at all so it does not even come up to transfer it over to the phone like with the rental.
I have solved the problem temporarily but would love help on a proper fix. If I check the box manual merge music and videos on the summary page I can get the movie over by dragging it from the library and dropping it into the phone but it still does not show up under the video tab but is on the phone. This then deletes all my music and I have to manually sync that as well.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am using a mac book with an iphone and a move in Itunes that I actually paid for - from itunes. I just cant figure it!
    Natalie

I think the layout in sync could be improved for movies perhaps putting Purchased Movies right after Rental Movies. When I am on that tab, Rental Movies (I have none and it tells me so) and then TV shows are visible on the screen with lots of blank space under. I had to scroll down to find the movie sync option (which may seem pretty obvious - but with all the white space after TV shows, I didn't notice that the scroll bar had room to scroll further). Yes, I feel a little stupid (and grateful to you for making the solution so obvious), but I do think the tab layout contributed to my ineptness.

  • I am having trouble downloading a previously purchased movie from the Cloud.

The movie in question is "The Mist." I have purchased a lot of movies from iTunes lately, and to save room on my Mac, I have moved all the movie files onto a portable hard drive and simply deleted them from my Mac. Thus, whenever I want to watch a movie, I just transfer it from my hard drive back onto my Mac no problem, and watch the movie. Somehow, "The Mist" got deleted from my hard drive, so I figured "No worries, I'll just download it from the Cloud and get the file back. I've done it before!"
iTunes does this frustrating thing where even if you delete the video file from your computer, the movie thumbnail still shows up in your movies library, and I guess the Cloud considers this as you still having the movie on your computer, because when I went to my purchase history, it said the movie was already downloaded on my computer, when in fact it was not (it also said this for all my other movies, which are not on my computer but on my PHD). Only after I deleted the thumbnail for the movie did it show up under "Not on this computer" and allow me to hit the download button. Then I get this message saying "This computer is already associated with an Apple ID. You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. This computer can be used with a different Apple ID in 80 days." It will not let me download my previously purchased movie!
I have already tried logging out and back in again, that did nothing. Do I seriously have to wait 90 days to redownload my movie again? Like, is that a thing? What if you have a hard drive wipe, and have to redownload everything from the Cloud again; would you seriously only be able to redownload all your movies in 90 day incriments? What if I need to redownload multiple purchased movies at once, do I have to wait 90 days in between each one?
Am I the only one having this problem? If so, any help would be appreciated.
If this is not a "problem" and merely a "thing" iTunes does for security reasons, then this is a complaint. I have legally purchased this movie under the same account that I'm currently trying to redownload it through, I find it ridiculous that I should have to wait 90 days; you don't have to wait this long for downloading multiple apps/songs/books. Alternatively, trying to redownload the movie from its store page on iTunes is not an option, because as far as I can tell, iTunes does not let you redownload already purchased movies from their store page, as with apps/songs/books. If you try to re-purchase a movie, in the hopes that it will simply let you download it for free, seeing as how you've ALREADY purchased it, instead it'll gladly charge you again for movie. So no, I am not willing to purchase the movie again, I would just like to re-download it from the Cloud as I've done with other movies before it. I don't know what makes this one different.

I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/

  • How do I share purchased movies with family members?

Can I share a purchased movie or TV show with other family members NOT using Home Sharing?  Can I transfer the purchase (like a gift) to someone else?

If you've purchased it for yourself then it will be tied to your account - you can only gift items from within the store, not from your purchases. If you don't want to use home sharing (which you can use to copy content between computers) then you should be able to copy them onto, for example, a flash drive, authorise your account on the other computer and then add the film/tv show to its library via File > Add To Library.

  • Purchased movies on Apple TV not showing in iTunes

I have video (purchased TV shows and video made in iMove) and purchased movies on an Apple TV (gen 1). In iTunes, I can see the audio recordings and both purchase and home made video but NOT the purchased movies. I really hate to purchase movies and place it on a hard drive I cannot back up.
    1) Why can I not see the purchased movies?
    2) Is there a way to back up the hard drive on Apple TV other than through iTunes?

Why can I not see the purchased movies?
Because they're not in the iTunes library. Control-click the Apple TV in iTunes and choose Transfer Purchases.
Is there a way to back up the hard drive on Apple TV other than through iTunes?
    Basically, no.

  • Why don't purchased movies from iTunes USA and Italy no longer sync in my iPad2 and iPod touch 4?

I used to be able to sync purchased movies from iTunes USA and Italy to my iPad 2 and  iPod touch 4. No more,  even before I upgraded to iOS6.

    - Transfer itunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - You can also redownload them by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - When they are in your iTunes library, connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.

  • Can't watch purchased movies on Apple TV

I purchased movies on Apple TV but I can't watch them through Apple TV, only through my computer. They are in 'Purchased on Apple tv" on iTunes but when I browse Apple TV, they are nowhere to be found. Do I need to transfer them somehow somewhere? Thanks!

Purchases made on the tv will at some point transfer themselves back to itunes, this will enable you to back them up and protect them against loss. Providing your sync/stream options are set accordingly you should then see them either be synced or streamed to the tv for viewing.

  • Purchased movie sync-back to iTunes causes Freeze

iTunes consistently freezes while transferring a purchased movie from the Apple TV to the iTunes Library during a sync. iTunes always freezes at the same point in the transfer, and is 100% repeatable. In fact, I have not been able to to use iTunes since making this movie purchase on the Apple TV.

The transfer consistantly fails about 25% completion. Not sure of the exact %, but the bar always stops at the same position.
There is no failure message. iTunes begins to consume 100% CPU utilization, and must be force quit. It is unresponsive.
This was the first purchase made since upgrading to v2.3.
I have restarted both my MacBook, and the Apple TV with no change in results.
I am unable to use iTunes because it freezes (see above) as soon as it finds the Apple TV on the network and begins to transfer the purchased movies to the iTunes Library.

  • HT2729 A purchased movie did not back up from iPad to computer when synced performed

I tried to sync a purchased movie. Did not back up to computer. Also lost artwork for movie picture. Show like a white tv screen

Purchased movies don't backup to iTunes, they should transfer into iTunes via the transfer purchases feature. Make sure that you actually selected the movie to sync in the Movies Tab of iTunes while you are connected to the computer to sync. Then sync again.

  • My old iPad has purchased movies on it from iTunes Store, however they do not appear on my new iPad - what can I do to fix this? Thanks

My old iPad has purchased movies on it from iTunes Store, however they do not appear on my new iPad - what can I do to fix this? Thanks. My new iPad air is wifi only

You might, depending upon what country that you are in (redownloading films isn't possible in all countries), the studios that they are from (even where redownloading is possible not all studios have agreed to it), and whether they are still in your country's store (studios ocassionally remove their films), be able to redownload them on your new iPad via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app.
If not then you will need to connect your old iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy them over to it via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, and you can then sync them to your new iPad.

  • HT204370 If i delete a purchased movie do i have to pay for it again? Or can i download it again ?

If i delete a purchased movie do i have to pay for it again? Or can i download it again ?

Whether you can redownload a film depends upon what country that you are in (they can't be redownloaded in all countries), the studio that it's from (not all allow redownloading), and whether it remains in your country's store (film studios, as well as other content providers, occasionally remove their items from the store) - what you can redownload will show in the Purchased tabs in the iTunes and App Store apps (and the ibookstore in the iBooks app) on your iPad, and the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
But rather than relying on being able to redownload it, if you haven't already got a copy on it then you can copy it over to your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases so that you can take a backup copy of it
