Purchasing organization & cost element IN BOM

Hi All,
I facing a problem with "N" category items in BOM. When i'm creating a BOM & adding a component which is non-stockable "N category", system is by default copying the Purh. org & cost element into this component.
I checked the material master for this Non-stockable item & in this we can maintain only puch group & no where we maintain Purchasing organization & cost element.
Please guide me from where could these values being copied into componenet details in BOM.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
You will not maintain the values like Pur Org and Cost Elements in Material Master . As it is non stock material you need to maintain the same in BOM itself so that system will allow to create Purchase orders with Item category "K".

  • Block GL / cost element to be use in purchase order

    hi expert,
i want to ask is there any way to block GL been use in purchase order but in meantime can use in FI posting?
I heard can done with cost element block for integration posting?
Can any expert advice the detail?
    Thanks.

There is no standard functionality to block any GL for specific purpose.
We can block it for entire company code/Chart of Accounts.level
However at OB28 create a new validation
We use WE document type for GR or RE document type for Invoice
    Go to OB28
    Prerequisite
If the Document type = WE or RE

  • G/L accounts or cost elements for maintenance order

    Hi,
    Can anybody explain the following.
1- What are the applications of inventory and consumption cost element / GL accounts, while posting goods issuance, good receipt and maintain service entry sheet with reference of maintenance orders' reservations and purchase requisitions? I want to know which cost element or GL account is debit and credit during every posting. And What are their impacts on maintenance order?
2- What is the purpose of "source" (cost element group) and "settlement cost element assignment" in allocation structure when we want settle maintenance order on cost center?
3- On which accounting term, the maintenance order should be settled, cost center or GL account? what is the best practices?
    Regards,

    Goods Issue & Goods Receipt:
In OBYC, G/L account for Inventory posting & Offset account for that Inventory posting will be maintained. Inventory posting will be BSX & Offset will be GBB.
In Material Master, valuation class will be assigned. Based on this valuation class, this entry will be taken.

  • Sales Order - order reason - cost element error in PO creation

    Good day Friends,
We have a third party order scenario in our group among different company codes (FI-SD).   This scenario is working fine among the existing companies.
Now there is a requirement from finance department to capture the revenues at different cost centers based on the order reason selected in the sales order.
When order reason is mentioned in the sales order the system is giving error at the time of purchase order creation as u201CCreate account 123456 for 16.05.2010 as a cost element in controlling area INTu201D
Where as if the sales order is created without order reason there is no problem in purchase order creation.
Here the account 123456 cannot be created as cost element because it will stop the other existing processes in this controlling area.
    Thanks

I can tell you why it's occurring and maybe give you a few suggestions on what to do.  The G/L account assignment for the third party sales process is determined based on the account key/modifier assigned to the transaction and the valuation class assigned to the material.  In this case, the account key/modifier is determined based on the account assignment category assigned to the purchased order (in the standard system the account assignment category is X for third party processing and the account modifier is VAX).  You would find the G/L account based on the combination of the account key = GBB, account modifier and valuation class using t-code (OBYC).
Saying all that, currently that combination is finding a G/L account that is not setup as a cost element (probably your cost of goods sold  account) and that's normal for these types of posting.  You can only make postings to cost centers for accounts that are setup as cost elements, so currently the system will not let make a posting to a cost center.
So if you want this transaction to post to a cost center, but don't want to create a cost element for this account, then you must use a different G/L account for these postings.  The simplest options would be to either change the account modifier assigned to the account assignment category or assign a different valuation class to these materials.  Once you've change one of those you can now assign a different G/L account to that combination in OBYC and create that account as a cost element.
    thanks,

  • Cost Element Error during Activity Confirmation

    Hi,
We are using assembly processing to create projects. After project is created, a requirement arises and we manually assign few internal activities in CJ20N. When we do like that, a cost element gets picked automatically in the cost element field of External TAB along with Purchase Org & purchase group though it is an internal activity. This doesnt happen in already created activities during automatic creation.
We don't need the system to bring these values for cost element, purchase org. & group. We are not using this cost element anywhere. In network profile cost element field is blank.
So whenever we confirm the activity it throws an error message. CK197, G/L account for company code / costelement does not exist.
    Kindly advice.
    Regards,
    Rahul

    Hi, Rahul,
Have your system is gone for any recent upgrade for EHP4 ?
This error is due to EHP4 please implement following said notes
    1285728, 1277967.
And after that remove the cost element from activities present in external tab which are created before not implementation which are giving error.
    revert after resolving the issue.

  • CO - Cost of Goods Sold as a cost element?

    Hi,
I've been creating primary cost elements for cost and revenues accounts.
I have already created cost elements for revenues, but I have some doubts about an account Cost of Goods Sold. Do I have to make cost element for it?
SD module is being implemented and revenues and cost of goods sold will be posted on SD orders.
    CO-PA will not be used.
What is the best solution? Should I create cost elements for Cost of goods sold Account and if YES, which cost element type should I choose (1 or 11?)
    Best wishes,
    Karol

Thank you very much! Your answer solved my problem.
I have one more question about profit centers assignment to material master.
I have divided my profit center hierarchy in such a way - that I could easily prepare a COS profit and loss statement using them. Basically I have such profit centers like:
    - Profit on sale of Goods
    - Profit on sale of Materials
    - Profit on sale of Service
    - Costs of Production
    - Other costs of sales
    - Costs of Administration
As you can see I didn't reflect in this hierarchy an organization structure.
I was wondering which profit center could be used for Material master assignment.
I know that for sales order there has to be assigned one of:
    - Profit on sale of Goods
    - Profit on sale of Materials
    - Profit on sale of Service
But I don't know whether it is OK to use them for materials master assignment. Can you suggest me some solution? I think that there should be different profit centers for goods and different profit centers for materials.

  • Taking wrong cost element in Preventive maintenance.

    Hi Pm Gurus,
I am running Preventive maintenance scenario. I have created T/L with External service as control key (PM03) and given description of external service (no service no), entered material group, cost element, price, Purchase group etc. when the call object is generated from the mainteance plan which is assigned with the above task list, i am not able to see the cost element in Maintenance Order external services view, the purchase Requestion is getting generated automatically in the maint order, when opening the PR the account assignment differs from what i given in the T/L. so at the time of settelment it causing error.
Kindly let me know what settings i have to check.
I have already created default profiles for external services, material procurement and assigned to the order type.
    Thanks in advance
    R. Loganathan

As mentioned in above threads, you can check for cost element in OBYC.
Cost element for External Service will be derived in following ways.
    1. Create Default Value profiles for External Procurement
    2. If you have maintained material group & valuation class in service master, it will check in OBYC for GBB. Double click that. In the next screen, search for VBR with the valuation class mentioned in service master. Cost element should have been maintained, that will be filled up.
    3. If you have not maintained any valuation class in service master & you maintained material group in service master, it will check for valuation class in IMG => Material Management => Purchasing => Material Master => Entry aids for Items without Material Master. In that screen, search for material group which has been in service master. Take that valuation class. Do the same step as in step 2.
    4. Neither Material group nor valuation class in service master, do the same as step 2 & for the VBR without valuation class would have been maintained. Cost element will be taken from there.
    5. If no data is maintained in above settings, then the cost element will be picked up from task list.

  • Cost centre and cost element related tables

    Hi,
Could any help me in knowing whre the cost centre goup and cost element groups are maintained.
Could you help in proving the link tables between Cost centre, Cost centre Group, Cost element and Cost element group.
    Regards,
    Krishna

    Hi,
Please refer to Table SETLEAF for cost element group and cost center group. This table is based on set class and 0101 is for Cost Center Group and 0102 is for Cost Element Group.
Cost Center Master data table is CSKS and Cost element Master data table is CSKB. To the bse of my knowledge you cannot directly join these two tables with SETLEAF table as key figure fields are not common. In case you are getting any ABAP report developed, you can ask the developer to write a code saying Controlling Area is equal to Organizational Unit as Set Subclass.
    Hope this helps.

  • COPA cost base same cond. map to NET Sales different cost elements problem

    Hi Guru,
    I have the following issue:
I mapped ONE billing condition type assigned to ONE value field.  ZPCD is assigned to value field VV110 (net sales)
That one condition type can post to 2 different cost element based on the account assignment group of the item
One cost element is set up and revenue type 11 and the value is posted to COPA value field NET SALES
The other cost element is set up as cost type 1 and the posting to COPA is blank i.e. no posting to value field NET SALES
In both cases a COPA document is created i.e. total 2 COPA documents one for each posting.
    What is the problem??
    Thanks
    Linda

For the purchased products, you may perhaps use the condition type VPRS to bring in the  material price from the material master.

  • Revenue Planning to cost elements

    Hi,
I am Working on Project system object.
When i am trying  planned revenue is added on the project, I need to find if there is a way to assign the revenue amount on the lowest WBS to a cost element. This is required for revenue amounts to appear in costing reports. CJ42 is used to add planned revenue manually.

    hi anuradha,
    Revenue Planning
    Use
Revenue planning can be necessary when you perform results analysis on a sales order item and use a results analysis method that uses the planned revenues to calculate the results analysis data.
    Features
The net value (revenue) for sales-order-related production is determined in pricing in Sales and Distribution (SD). Pricing depends on specific conditions which you maintain in Sales and Distribution.
A particular customer orders a particular quantity of a product on a particular day. The variable factors – customer, product, quantity ordered, date – determine the final price for the customer.
The system uses the conditions you specified to calculate the gross price at which the customer is invoiced; any discounts applying to the customer, for example; and other values such as freight charges and tax.
Pricing is controlled by a pricing procedure which is selected through the sales document type. Price elements such as prices, surcharges and discounts, freight costs and taxes are saved in Sales and Distribution as condition types. The pricing procedure determines which condition types are used and the sequence in which they are calculated in the sales order.
    Condition Types
The standard system contains the following condition types that can be used in connection with unit costing, product costing, and preliminary order costing in assembly processing:
    Condition Types for Pricing
    Condition Type
    Meaning
    EK01
    Cost of goods manufactured (CGM)
    EK02
    CGM (statistical)
    EK03
    Fixed CGM (statistical)
Condition type EK01 is mainly used for cost-plus contracts in which the sales price depends on the expected costs.
Condition type EK02 is mainly used when the sales price is a market price and the expected costs are only used for informational purposes.
Condition type EK03 offers the capability of transferring the fixed costs of a cost estimate into the conditions.
The costs are transferred from the cost component view Cost of goods sold into the condition type.
The above-mentioned condition types must be of category Q. Whether a condition type of category Q is only used in pricing as a statistical value or for price calculation is controlled in the pricing procedure.
The condition type is created in Customizing for Sales.
The condition type can be selected as follows:
    Through the sales document type
Condition types EK01 and EK02 are specified in the CndTypLineItems field in the sales document type.
    Through the requirements class
This enables you to define different condition types for different sales document items of a sales document.
Condition types EK01 or EK02 are specified in the CndTypLineItems field in the requirements class.
Condition type EK03 is specified in the CondTypLinItFix field. You can only use condition type EK03 in conjunction with the requirements class.
    Planned Revenues
Revenue elements from the SD pricing procedure that are not statistical are updated as planned revenue on the sales order item that carries costs and revenues, and can be viewed in the Product Cost Controlling Information System. Sales deductions can also be assigned to revenue elements through account determination, and updated on the CO object for the sales order item.
The condition type is selected through the sales document type.
Condition type EK01 is selected for sales document type TA (standard order). This means that the value from the cost estimate goes directly into pricing. A surcharge is calculated from this value and the net value for the sales order item is calculated.
Condition type EK02 is selected for sales document type TA (standard order). Pricing is carried out on the basis of condition type PR00. To maintain this price, choose Logistics ® Sales/distribution ® Sales ® Master data ® Prices ® Material prices and enter a material price. The material price is updated under condition type PR00, while the values from the cost estimate are updated under condition type EK02 and can be used for informational purposes.
Actual Revenue in Product Cost by Sales Order
    Use
In Product Cost by Sales Order, actual revenues are updated to the sales order item that carries costs and revenues at the time of invoicing.
    Integration
You can view the actual revenues in comparison with the planned revenues and costs in the Product Cost Controlling Information System at any time.
You can settle the costs and revenues that are updated to the sales order item to a profitability segment in Profitability Analysis (CO-PA) during period-end closing for Product Cost by Sales Order. When you perform results analysis, the results analysis data are settled to CO-PA.
The processing in Product Cost by Sales Order therefore differs from the processing in Product Cost by Order or Product Cost by Period (make-to-stock production and with a valuated sales order stock without a sales order item that carries costs and revenues).
If you perform this type of product cost controlling (such as in addition to Product Cost by Sales Order), then in Product Cost by Order or Product Cost by Period the revenues from invoicing are transferred to CO-PA.
If you are using the cost-of-sales accounting in Financial Accounting (FI) and are using a valuated sales order stock, you do not need to perform results analysis in order to transfer the cost of sales to FI. The cost of sales is transferred to Financial Accounting at the point of the goods issue posting.
    Prerequisites
To ensure that the revenues are displayed on the sales order item, you must create revenue accounts and possibly sales deduction accounts as primary cost elements of cost element type 11 (revenues) or 12 (sales deductions). Make the necessary settings in Customizing under Controlling ® Overhead Cost Controlling ® Cost and Revenue Element Accounting ® Master data ® Cost Elements.
To be able to settle the costs to Profitability Analysis, you must make the necessary settings in Customizing for Profitability Analysis. Make the necessary settings in Customizing under Controlling ® Profitability Analysis.
    Features
    Billing
Billing invoices the customer for the goods and services delivered for a sales order.
In Sales and Distribution, you create an invoice (billing document) on the basis of a reference document. In order-related billing, the reference document is the standard order or the delivery document with delivery-related billing.
The data such as prices and quantities are transferred from the previous documents into the billing documents. The price can be calculated in the following ways:
Using pricing on the basis of conditions (such as material or customer)
On the basis of the incurred costs if you want to use resource-related billing
When you enter a billing document, the system proposes a billing type depending on the reference document.
The billing type determines the following:
Which pricing procedure is used for account determination for Financial Accounting
Whether the invoices are passed immediately to Financial Accounting
Account assignment is controlled by the following parameters:
    The chart of accounts
    The sales organization
The account assignment group of the customer (in the Account group field in the Invoicing screen of the customer master record)
The account assignment group of the material (in the Account assignment group field in the Sales 2 view of the material master record)
The account key in the pricing procedure
    thanks
    karthik

  • Restricting Cost Elements in Internal Orders

I am setting up new order types for our Marketing Department. I want to ensure the only costs charged there are Marketing Costs (ie a small range of Cost elements). I've put the range into the allocation structure, but that only seems to control settlement cost Element, and doesn't stop anything I don't want coming in to the order.
Is it possible to restrict postings coming in to a range of Cost elements? Ideally, this would stop the problem at source i.e. you can't raise a Purchase Order assigned to the Internal Order with a cost Element outside the restricted range?
Is this possible? If so, could you kindly point me in the right direction?

    Hi gbrandreth,
Allocation Structure, as you correctly understood, is only for Settlement transaction.
Pls try to use "Validations" for your requirement.

  • Provision for sevices entry cost  addit in BOM material

    Hi GURU's
I client want to services cost is also to be added to the material production cost as with the BOM.
ex. suppose production qnty. is 100 ton& BOM materials qnty & cost is suppose 10 & 100/-. and the services charges (cost) is suppose 100/- per ton then the cost of services  is appended on the Production material with BOM material cost.
Is thier any provision to append services cost on the production material against process order.
Thanks in Adavance for ur immediate intimate.

    Hi
There is no direct link between Movement type and Cost element G/L account. It is not advisable to change the standard movement type 261 for BOM components for GI in OPKA.
The possible way to have a new G/L account in BOM cost element field as per u r requirement is to create new valuation class and assign it to Material master of u r Non stock material in Accounting view
    Steps
    1) Create a new valuation class say ZVCL in OMSK and complete all relevant settings
    2) Now in OBYC > GBB > for VBR >for New Valuation class ZVCL > Assign G/L AC no say xxxxxx in Debit and Credit columns
    3) Then Assign this valuation class in Material Master.
    4) Now chk the G/L account in BOM as u mentioned and observe it as xxxxxx
