  • Putting a border on a cropped image/video in FCE 3.5

    Hello folks, my first post so be gentle.
    Can anyone tell me how I can put a border on a cropped image or video clip in FCE 3.5?
    At the mo if I want a border on a PIP I need to scale it down then make the border thicker, it meens the area that I want to see in detail (the PIP) is smaller than it is in the main window.
    So cropping is the obvious solution but when I do the border gets cropped out too.
    I could do it with miltiple layers but it seems a messy workaround.
    Cheers

    Please excuse me for horning in. Andy's instructions specify this plugin is for Final Cut Pro. Do you know if it is also good for Final Cut Express?

  • Is it possible to put a border or grame around video in Prem E 12?

    Hi all, sorry if this has been asked but I am new to this.
    I know one can stretch out video to cover the black bars either side of video, but I was wondering can one actually put a frame or border around a video?
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for the reply.
    I forgot to mention a feature of Premiere Elements 12 that just might be what you are looking for. Sorry I forgot to mention the following.
    The feature is Titles & Templates. Check out the Title templates under the Titles & Templates tab at the bottom of the Expert workspace.
    Each theme comes as credits, lower3rd, title, or frame.
    Pick a frame and drag it into your image on the Expert workspace Timeline. Then you will have the title template "frame" on Video 2 and the image for within the frame on Video 1.
    If you need to scale either, right click the Edit area monitor, select Select, and then select which file you want to work on, the file on Video 1 or the file on Video 2.
    You will probably have the greatest creativity opportunities for frames in Photoshop Elements, but the above way may work for you.
    Please let us know the outcome.
    Thanks.

  • Easy way to put black border around cropped video.

    Hi
    I was wondering if anyone knows of an easy way to put a 2-3 pixel black border around a cropped, shrunk video clip.
    Its kind of a picture-in-picture deal, but the "simple border" filter doesn't take into account the cropped edges. I've also tried drop shadow, but I need it to be hard lines.
    Any suggestions (I'm looking for the easy way because I need to apply this effect to about 100 clips, otherwise I'd just put a black colour matte behind the image).
    Cheers
    Chris.

    Layer the Boris Vector Shape generator around your clip. It's a great tool.

  • No basic border filter on cropped shots?

    I'm making a movie basically on V1 and V2. V1 is standard material from my own camera. V2 is imported from a 16:9 source. All shots on v2 are scaled to 80% (so V1 is partly visible) and cropped (all 4 sides), as to get rid of the black beams on top and on the bottom. Now i want to apply a basic border filter to the tracks on V2, to detach the material from the underlying tracks, but fce (2.03) refuses to accept the filter. Other filters are accepted without any problem. I presume that the problem is caused by the cropping procedure. If it's not possible to apply a border filter to cropped material, is there a way to do it in a different way?
    imacG5m20, 1.7 g   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   fce 2.0.3, canon 330i, panasonic lumix fz30

    Thanks for your help. I tried, but did not succeed in getting the precise image i'm looking for, and apart from that it would take a lot of time to do this as the V1 track is divided in more than 50 short shots. Anyway i now understand why i could not apply the border. What i need is a way to really cut the shots, as you can do in Photoshop (select your part of the picture and cut it out). This apparently cannot be done in FCE. I tried to do it in imovie, but no way. I have only little experience with QTpro, but as far as i can see, there is no possibility to really cut out part of the video, to get rid of the 16:9 black beams on top and on the bottom. May be some other application?

  • Cropping video/Changing ratio

    I have just purchansed Final Cut Express HD and am fairly unfamiliar with it. One thing I hoped I'd be able to do is crop some time-lapse videos I've made with my stills camera from 4:3 ratio to the 16:9 widescreen ratio, without distorting them, so they go with the video from my camcorder. Is it possible to crop video at the top and bottom to the wide ratio rather than simpy put it into widescreen and distort it?
    Imac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Ross,
    Are you saying you are working with an anamorphic sequence and you are placing 4:3 video into it?
    You could simply scale the video up 133% so it fills the whole of the widescreen. You will lose a bit of quality depending on the resolution of the existing movie.

  • How do I put a border on in pages

    How do I put a border on a page in 'pages'?

    Pamela,
    Insert a rectangular Shape
    Set the Fill to None
    Adjust the border of the shape to your preferred weight and color.
    Resize and Position the Shape
    Arrange > Lock the shape.
    If you need this on more than one page, Select and Copy the Shape before locking it, then Paste it to each page where you want it to appear
    Save the template..

  • I have never used my mac for desktop publishing before and am having some problems.  This sounds really dumb, but I can't figure out how to put a border around a text box.  Also, how do you edit the border, i.e. border color, thickness, etc. Help!

    I have never used my mac for desktop publishing before and am running into some real problems.  How do you put a border around a text box?  Can you edit the border - color, thickness, etc.?  Help!

    I think the best solution is to read Pages documentation, go to Help and you have a long list of options. Pages is capable of quite sophisticated things, some features are above Nisus or Mellel, so it is not so simple to summarize things in a few lines.

  • How to crop video using ROI

    Hello,
    Would some one please help me?
    I have a loop which continuously aquire images from a camera and saves it to a video . I would like to crop a region of this video by passing the co-ordinates of a rectangle.After I have the cropped video, I would like to do a intensity profile of the whole video and display it using a single graph ( intesnity changes for diffferent frames in the y axis and the the number of the frame in x - axis.
    Joyce Joy

    Hi,
    You can implement image cropping following the example:
    https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-11222
    You would have to programmatically generate the ROI rectangle if you do not wish to have user interaction in the code.
    I am not quite sure what kind of intensity profile you want, but here is a good example that performs it along a line, so you could just build an array of those and plot it.
    https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-20840
    Hope this helps!

  • Black border around my flash video in internet explorer

    The website that I built, I used Adobe media encoder and flash to make it a .flv file, the website works fine as far as playing the pages with video in Safari and Firefox, when I go to the same website in internet explorer the video plays with a big black border each of my video's, why would that be ? if you have internet explorer the site is dreamdigitalmedia.com
    thanks

    I watched your Chigago Public School and Ogsby Funiture commercials in IE 7 , and didn't see any black borders.
    Videos seemed to play fine; although the following error popped up each time:
    Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed.
    I responded to the error by hitting the 'continue'  button; and it did allow me to play the vids; but you'll probably want to check this out.

  • Why does border appear around embedded video?

    Hello,
    I have an embedded YouTube video in a page on my site. It was working fine for a while but I've just discovered that there is now a black edge showing on the left, right and bottom of the video? I created a white round cornered frame within Premier so that it's part of the video. I did this as the pgae it's embedded in is white so that when it plays back it appears seamless and with curved edges to match it's container. This worked fine for a week or so but now it has these black edges? Can anybody tell me why? You can see for yourself at www.glovesanddoves.com. Go to the fighters page and you'll see the video at the bottom. The video's width is a multiple of 16 and the ratio is 16:9 at 384px X 216px. The containg Divs are also set to these measurements.
    I've attached a screenshot below:
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Jack

    It only seems to be affecting the page when viewed in Safari although it was working fine for over a week before today?

  • How put a border round a table row?

    I have a simple table, and want to put a border round each row - for some reason nothing I do works.  I would also like a large space between rows than between the individual cells but again can't work out how to do it.
    Can anyone help?

    Just to close this thread, I'll show how I would do it -
    <style type="text/css">
    table {
         border-collapse:collapse;
    .row td, .row th {
         border:solid #000;
         border-width:1px;
    .row td+td {
         border-right:none;
         border-left:none;
    .row td.last {
         border-right:1px solid #000;
    .row>td {
    border-right:none;
    </style>
    </head>
    <body>
    <table>
         <tr class="row">
              <td>asdfg</td>
              <td>asdfg</td>
           <td>asdfg</td>
              <td class="last">asdfg</td>
         </tr>
    </table>
    </body>
    This is interesting because it illustrates the use of the adjacent siblings selector and the first descendent selector.  What's slick is if you know how many cells there are in the row, you could do it this way and bypass the creation of that extra class selector (td.last) -
    <style type="text/css">
    table {
         border-collapse:collapse;
    .row td, .row th {
         border:solid #000;
         border-width:1px;
    .row td+td {
         border-right:none;
         border-left:none;
    .row td+td+td+td {
         border-right:1px solid #000;
    .row>td {
    border-right:none;
    </style>
    </head>
    <body>
    <table>
         <tr class="row">
              <td>asdfg</td>
              <td>asdfg</td>
           <td>asdfg</td>
              <td class="last">asdfg</td>
         </tr>
    </table>
    </body>

  • White lines around cropped video QT Pro

    When I crop videos with a mask white lines appear on the top and bottom of the video when viewed full screen.

    Yep.
    They probably do and this has been reported since the first version of QT 7.
    It seems to only appear in "full screen" mode and is an issue with the mask track shifting one pixel "down" and one pixel to the "right".
    The only workaround I've found is to avoid using the pixel "correct" size for any mask layer.
    Since the mask track layer can't be adjusted (Movie Properties) you'll have to experiment with sizes.
    I use GraphicConverter ($30) to make my masks from a still image from the source file.
