Putting a PDF document in a button

I've found a discussion that puts an existing PDF file as the icon for a button on a form. But I cannot find steps to do so. What I want to do is create a hidden button that contains an "Instructions" document as it's "caption" or "Icon" that will be revealed when the user of the form wants to see instructions.

PDF Documents with Functional Buttons - Works for IE and FireFox but not for Chrome and Safari

To all,
Good morning. Our institution developed a PDF document with functional buttons for printing and e-mailing. When the document is viewed via Internet Explorer and Firefox, the functional buttons work as expected. However if the document is viewed via Chrome and Safari, the functional buttons do not work. The workaround for those who are using Chrome and Safari, the PDF document needs to be saved to their local drive before the functional buttons work.
Has anyone experienced this issue before? If yes, what was your solution other than the workaround.

Can't open a pdf document over two or more junction points

Hello,
if i open a pdf document that's stored in a directory and this directiry is accessable over two or mor junction points, it will be fail. The message say something abount access denied, but the security is set to full access. In other application (e.g. notepad.exe) i can access this document. Then i tested it with one junction point and it works.
So here is a szenario to test:
1) Put a pdf document at C:\Folder1\PDF-Document.pdf
2) I can access C:\Folder1\PDF-Document.pdf with Acrobat Reader
3) Create a Junction Point from C:\Folder2 to C:\Folder1
4) I can access C:\Folder2\PDF-Document.pdf with Acrobat Reader
5) Create a Junction Point from C:\Folder3 to C:\Folder2
6) I can't access C:\Folder3\PDF-Document.pdf with Acrobat Reader !!!
I can normaly access the file at C:\Folder3\PDF-Document.pdf but not with Acrobat Reader! In Notepad i can open the pdf document.
I tested the lasted version 11.0.1 on Windows Server 2008 R2 (Service Pack 1) with all normally available patches.
What's wrong? The original structure with the junction points are greater than the example above. But i've reduced it to this simple example.
Can anyone help?

It's possible it's a bug, or it may be a limitation in the software if it's a specialized kind of PDF that Reader for iOS doesn't support.
In any case, posting a link to the file would provide the engineers with some information to help fix the problem.
Keep in mind that the software for mobile devices has been in development a much shorter time than software for computers (Reader for Windows or Macintosh).

You'll want to ask in a Wordpress forum.
The basics are, you upload the document to your site and add a link to it. The Wordpress folks will have to give you the details on how to do that.

Adding Navigation Buttons for Users of PDF Documents

The default for Acrobat Reader (and even the Pro version)
seems to leave the Forward and Back navigation buttons OFF the
Acrobat Reader tool bar. You have to deliberately go into the Tools
- Customize Tools menu and turn on these two buttons in order for
them to appear in the tool bar. This creates problems for readers
of your PDF documents if the readers of your documents aren't very
computer savy. If you have links in your PDF document so readers
can navigate around, not having the Forward and Back buttons up on
the tool bar as a default makes these links almost useless. The
reader has to know how to turn these two buttons on and some
readers may not have a clue how to do that.
My question: Is there a way to put 2 navigation buttons on a
reader's toolbar AUTOMATICALLY when they open your document--ie,
something embedded in the PDF doc that automatically turns these
buttons on for the reader so they don't have to do it
themselves?

Inserting a pdf page to a document using a button

I am trying to figure out how to use javascript in a button. I have created a pdf that has a button that says Add Page. Basically what I want it to do is to add another page to the document when i click it. I have used the javascript console and know how to insert pages that way but for some reason that same code doesn't work in the button javascript. This is the code I have been using in the console
this.insertPages({nPage:this.numPages-1,
cPath:"InsertExampleSource.pdf"});
Whenever I put it in the button though and try it, nothing happens
Also this pdf has a bunch of text fields that happen to have the variables as ones in the documents.
What code would i write to change the rename these variable names using the same button.

Having a button open another PDF document or image

Hello,
I have been trying to get the app.openDoc("filename"); to open a different PDF document with no luck. We currently have our employees fill out a form while completing a tour of a store. What I would like to do is have the employee click a button to open a PDF of a document that would show what an acceptable uniform would be. I have tried using this for both a PDF and a jpg image, neither of which have worked. I tried every variation and thing I have read online, but I am now lost... Any help?

Maybe your filename path is off? Try putting the pdf in a folder called 'temp' on your c drive and use:
app.openDoc("/c/temp/mypdf.pdf");
Just to see if it works.

Can I add Action button on each page of my pdf document

I have created many power point slides with an action button on each slide that allows the user to click to display a video clip.   I would like to create a pdf document of this and replace each of my action button in ppt with an action button that works in Acrobat.
I noticed that action buttons can be added to forms, but I want to be able to add an Action Button on each of my ppt slides to start playing a video clip (each slide will have a different video).
I would like to do this using any coding method (i.e. Javascript, VBA, C , etc).   I think acrobat uses Javascript.
The reason, is that I want to display my power point slides on an IPad and they don't support hyperlink in power point.   I believe IPad does suppport the full acrobat capabilities.
Can this be done ??
Any suggestions where to start ??

NO problem creating the buttons and then playing this back in Acrobat. Works great.
However, unfortunately, none of the PDF viewers for the iPad support playing movies.   So playing it there won't work :(.

Using your example and not modifying it, I get the e-mail form filled out correctly and the pdf attached, however, I'm not prompted to sign it.

The application auto-saves your input when you close the document. If you left the document, as you state, the notes/comments should have been saved and should have been visible the next time you opened the document with the Mobile Reader (note that if you are opening the document with another app such as Apple's built in PDF Viewer, things like notes/comments may not be visible). Also note that if you are doing an Open In... from another app (like Dropbox), the version of the document in Dropbox does not update; only the version of the document in the Mobile Reader is updated.

Is it possible to Embed a PDF and command by a button within a PDF document

Is it possible to embed a fillable PDF form onto a PDF document and using the button to open the embedded file?

Files cannot be "embedded" in a PDF.
Attach the form PDF to the not-a-form PDF.
Create the Button field on the not-a-form PDF.
For the Button's Action select "Go to a page view".
You'd open the attached form PDF.
The Action wll look like:
Mouse Up
    Go to a page in another document
           File: PDF attachment
           Page: 1
           Zoom level: Fit Page
The default "Open" for the attached PDF is "Window set by user preference".
You can edit this to select either "New Window" or "Existing Window".

Can we put two tables horizontally in a PDF document?

I have 2 questions regarding PDF document.
1) When I have a table data which rolls over more than one page, it is not properly displayed. The first row of the table is repeated in every page. So there is a problem when a table splits over two pages.
2) Is there any way to put two tables one beside the other horizontally. I have more than 30 tables which has 4 columns and say 6-8 rows. Its taking more no. of pages. If two tables are put side by side, the no. of pages will be reduced.
Please provide your ideas, if any, on this.

Not possible in the current release of xMII (using PDF).
It would be possible if you created your report as an HTML page, however.
You can use BLS to write to the file and/or append to a string that builds up your HTML content. You can easily create callable "sub transactions" that take an xMII recordset and convert it to an HTML table, so that you can have reusable pieces (and simpler transactions to build the reports).

Open PDF document with a click of a button

Hello All,
I am trying to open a pdf document which is located on the Unix server when a button is clicked. The Button is of Item Style 'Button', the file is at a location for example /tmp/user/.
Can anyone please suggest with some already existing examples. I looked for a few in the OTN forums but everything was pointing to involving BI Publisher. But my requirement is to open an already existing document with a click of a button.

Thanks, the button is not only opening the document but before that the button click should merge the Pdf documents into one. The PDF merge is happening, but when I have a URL in the button its killing the merge functionality.
I used the HttpServletResponse and servletoutput stream to open the merged PDF document. Its working on my local machine, I need to try it on the server.
I was trying to use the XMLIMporter command to upload the OAF oage which already exists in the server. But this did not work for me. Since I am new to OAF may be Im missing something. Below is the XMLIMporter command.

The Search Page is in /customDir/module/page/webui/ this folder. Is Framework bounce needed in this case.
