PXI-2567 cable

Hi
I received PXI-2567 module with only one connector without a cable. How can I get the cable?

Wessyn,
As outlined in How to Connect Signals to the PXI-2567, we provide a 78 pin DSUB connector and backshell kit for customers to create custom connectivity solutions for these modules. Many customer would use these to create their own cables or connectivity by soldering the connector to a cable or PCB. If you are interested in using a cable solution, it is not very difficult to find these solutions externally. Since this module is using a standard 78 pin DSUB connector, a quick internet search of "DSUB 78 Cables" reveals many external options for cables and connectivity.
As always, verify that the cabling setup that you do select can handle the voltage and current levels that your application requires. Additionally, you must install connectivity solutions according to local safety codes and standards and according to the specifications provided by the cable manufacturer.
Let me know if this did not answer your question!

  • How to use niSwitch_InitWithTopology with PXI-2567 relais card

    Hello,
I'm trying to get the NI Visual Basic example niSwitchControllingAnIndividualRelay.vbp working with a PXI-2567 relais card.
I doesn't seem to get my ResourceName and Topology (the first two parameters of the niSwitch_InitWithTopology function) right (the example program creates the errors 1074130544 "This session is not valid" and 1074135030 "Failure loading driver module").
Where can I find the right ResourceName and Topology for the PXI-2567 (self test all right) to fill in these two parameters ?
    With thanks,

    Hello AlessioD,
the relay card PXI-2567 stopped "working" again (I don't know why). So I checked the 'Tools' - 'Select switch card' from the Measurement and Automation Explorer with as result the error "Failure loading driver module" on 'OK'.
Seems that the driver module of this PXI-2567 can't be loaded. NI-switch 32.dll gives the same error report from the Visual Basic sample program.
What can be the problem and how to fix it ?
    With thanks,

  • Error when intializing PXI-2567 Hardware

I get an error when initializing my hardware(PXI-2567). The error is related to the source name. When I input the source name same as that found in the Measurment Explorer, which is in this case PXI4::11::INST, I get an error that the source does not exist. However, it does work with no errors if I input the source name as PXI1Slot17. How can I use the name PXI4::11::INST instead with out errors ?

    Hi CAN Programmer,
You cannot use the PXI4::11::INSTR resource descriptor because using it opens a VISA session to the instrument.  Using this initialization technique only allows you access to Traditional DAQ functionality.  The Independent Topology of the PXI-2567 needs functionality beyond that provided by Traditional DAQ, and therefore initialization requires the use of the DAQmx resource descriptor (PXI1Slot17).  May I ask why you want to use PXI4::11::INSTR as the resource descriptor?  There may be another workaround for what you are attempting to accomplish.

  • PXI-2567 fuse

I regularly blow the 5V fuse on my PXI-2567 boards (I only use the 5V supply). The card is wired through a Virginia Panel G12 interface to a custom load board. The fuse sometimes blows by simply changing test fixtures. The one time I paid close attention, the fuse was fine while I disabled and removed the current fixture, but then blew when I connected a new fixture to the interface. The fuse never blows during test operation so it's not an over current problem. I have verified that all relays are disabled when I change fixtures. One possibility is there is a current spike when I connect the new fixture, but it would have to be a lot of static buildup to cause this. (I am in nice dry Colorado.) Has anyone had experience with this and is there a recommended decoupling scheme to prevent the current spike? How about using fuses that are not slow blow? Any other ideas of why the fuse is blowing?
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Hi Bob,
So you are using a PXI-2567 that is
connected to a Virginia Panels G12. I’m assuming the relays the 2567 is
controlling are in the test fixture. I’d be happy to help you narrow this problem
down. I have some questions about your test setup that may help us figure out
what is causing the fuse to blow.
    1.
    What
relays are you using with the 2567?
    2.
    Are
the 2567 all channels open every time you switch test fixtures?
    3.
    Do
you have any kind of capacitive load on the 5 volt line in your test fixtures?
If you do, this could cause a current spike on connection that is blowing the
fuse. A capacitive load will draw a lot of current from a dc source until the
load is charged. This could also be why the fuse blows on connection of a new
test fixture and doesn’t blow when you remove a test fixture. If a specific
test fixture is not blowing the fuse every time it may be that the initial
current draw is just enough to sometimes blow the fuse but not always.
    4.
    Is
there any fixture that has never blown the fuse? If so does is that fixture’s
relays wired differently than the multiple fixtures that have blown fuses?
Any additional information you can give to
help narrow down the cause of the problem will be helpful.
    Thanks,

  • Configure PXI-2567 to Trigger on Rising Edge using LabWindows/CVI

I need some help configuring the trigger edge for a PXI-2567 using Labwindows/CVI.  I have been able to successfully create and execute a scan list using both the ni-switch and daqmx APIs.  However, currently the PXI-2567 triggers on the falling edge of an input trigger.  I need to configure it to trigger on the rising edge of an input trigger.  Every function I could find in the daqmx API for configuring the trigger edge gave a non-fatal runtime error, and I could find no such functions in the ni-switch API.
Any help configuring the input trigger edge on the PXI-2567 using Labwindows/CVI would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi JonRice,
You can configure the scan list to execute on the rising edge of an input trigger.  Here are the Labwindows/CVI and LabVIEW functions you would want to use to retrieve, specify or verify the edge of a digital signal that advances to the next entry in a scan list.
    NI-DAQmx C Property: More >> Advance >> Digital Edge >> Edge
You can get/set/reset this property using:
    DAQmxGetDigEdgeAdvTrigEdge
    DAQmxSetDigEdgeAdvTrigEdge
    DAQmxResetDigEdgeAdvTrigEdge
    NI-SWITCH C Attribute: NISWITCH_ATTR_TRIGGER_INPUT_POLARITY
You can get/set/check this attribute using:
    niSwitch_GetAttributeViInt32
    niSwitch_SetAttributeViInt32
    niSwitch_CheckAttributeViInt32

  • Using PXI 2567 in switch exec for use in test stand

I am using a pxi 2567 card and have used a simulated ivi driver to use it in switch executive. To operate the switches from test stand I need to create routes in switch executive. Do I need simulated relays for switch exec to set endpoints, if so where can i get a simulated relay; if not please advise.

You do not need simulated relays. The channel names on the 2567 will be your "virtual" relays. Each of the 2567's 64 channels have names like COMn and CHn, where n is an index from 0 to 63.
You may create routes in NI Switch Executive (and invoke those routes in TestStand). If you do not want to create each named route, you can also use an expression to indicate what you want to have routed.
For example, support your 2567 is named "Dev1" and you wanted to connect relay 0. The syntax for the connect route specification in TestStand would look like:
    "[Dev1/com0->Dev1/ch0]"

  • How could I control PXI-2567 from my C/C++ program?

I need to control the PXI-2567 relay driver from inside my C/C++ programs.
How could I do this, is there a dl, com, or something?
Please tell me if there are any integration documents or user manuals for using whichever method if any.

    Hi BSA,
You'll want to utilize the NI Switch Driver, which will install both example programs and the NI Switches Help.   There is a Function Reference Section in the NI Switches Help (which is installed with the NI Switch driver, and as well can be found on our website).  Example programs will be installed on your computer under Start»All Programs»National Instruments»NI-SWITCH»Examples»C .  You can also program your switch with2567 with DAQmx.  The differences between the two drivers can be found in this KB.  As well, additional resources for your switch are discussed here.

  • PXI 2567/6132

    Good day,
I'm making a PCB that utilizes the PXI 2567 and PXI 6132.
    For the PXI 2567:
I want to know if I can connect all the common grounds together. Specifically:
Common Ground Return CH0:7     (pin 42)
Common Ground Return CH8:15   (pin 3)
Common Ground Return CH16:23 (pin 66)
Common Ground Return CH24:31 (pin 27)
Common Ground Return CH32:39 (pin 51)
Common Ground Return CH40:47 (pin 12)
Common Ground Return CH48:55 (pin 75)
Common Ground Return CH56:63 (pin 36)
    GND (pin 39)
    For the PXI 6132:
I also want to know if I can connect the Analog Input grounds together. Specifically:
    AI 0 GND (PIN 67)
    AI 1 GND (PIN 32)
    AI 2 GND (PIN 64)
    AI 3 GND (PIN 29)
    AI 4 GND (PIN 27)
    AI 5 GND (PIN 59)
    AI 6 GND (PIN 24)
    AI 7 GND (PIN 56)
The question is because each ground belongs to specific channels, and we want to know if we can connect them all to a common ground plane. We have checked the documentation for these PXI cards but we're still not clear.
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Leslie

    Hi Srikant,
When you mentioned that the led is flickering, what led were you talking about?
The example, Switch Controlling Individual Relay begins by resetting the switch, so if you had closed any relays, calling this vi would immediately return all relays to their default state, open. If you are calling this VI multiple times, that may explain why you are seeing flickering.
This example vi was also not intended to be used as a sub-vi, it was meant to demonstrate how to use the DAQmx vi's and what inputs they require. I'd suggest using the DAQmx vi's directly in your application. You can use the "DAQmx Switch Close Relays.vi" to close one or more relays. It is the vi used in the example you mentioned.
The DAQmx Switch vis can be found on the Functions Palette under Measurement I/O>>NI-DAQmx>>Dev Config>>Switches
I also wanted to check if you were driving the relays from the onboard +5V or +12V sources, or if you were using an external power supply. You will want to make sure you aren't trying to get more current than the power source can provide if you are trying to close 20 relays.
Hopefully this points you in the right direction,
    Regards,

  • Pxi-2567 ground references

    Hi all,
I'm considering using a PXI-2567 in a project. However I need to check where the ground references connect to before committing to the purchase.
The pxi-2567 datasheet shows nine separate ground signals on the output connector. These are:
Connector Pin 39: PXI chassis backplane ground
Connector Pin 42: Common ground return for CH0:7
Connector Pin 3: Common ground return for CH8:15
Connector Pin 36: Common ground return for CH56:63.
My question is, are all these grounds internally connected in the PXI-2567, or does this card have some form of isolation between each of the eight banks, and also between the eight banks and the pxi backplane ground? (P.S. Looking at the datasheet, it implies that all nine grounds are at the same potential - but I just want to be sure).
    Regards,
    Tom

Hello bilby.  The eight common grounds that are each dedicated for one bank in the pxi-2567 are all tied to the chassis ground via the backplane.  Thus, you were correct in assuming that all nine grounds are at the same potential.

  • NI PXI 2565 Cable Definition / PCB Definition Support

    Hi,
I currently have a NI PXI-2565 relay switch and was wondering what the best / recommend methods for connecting to this device with respect to the chasis and at a PCB.  I am interested in what the mating connectors should be for a straight through cable and mounting fixture.

  • Is there any DDK, RLP or examples programming Relay cards PXI-2567?

I am trying to write a Device Driver for PXI-2568 Relay card. I can not find any Device Driver Kit (DDK) or Register level Programming (RLP) information. I program in Visual studio C++ using RTX. I have diver for M and E series ADC cards as well as DIO cards, but can not find any help for the relay cards. Where can I find any examples or other info?
    Thanks,
    Tony

    Hi Tony,
I have RLP information on the PXI-2568, but the information is limited and may not give you all the desired functionality that you're looking for.  If possible, can you provide me an email address to contact you personally?  Because the information is somewhat limited, additional support may be required, so I would rather not make the RLP manual public.  Also, I would like to discuss the caveats to the existing RLP manual and verify the information I have will make you successful.  Please note the email address you provide will be public information (at least initially), so you may not want to use your primary email address.
Another option is requesting support through phone or email via http://www.ni.com/support/, however phone and email requests require a valid service contract.

  • Pxie-6556 - How to control the rise time in the digital lines (hsdio)

    Hi,
Is there any way to control the rise time in the PXIe-6556 digital lines?
Even in a low frequency signal 10kHz the rise time is about 2ns.
    Tks,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello engfpe,
The PXIe-6556 is a 50 Ohm system, meaning the output is source series terminated to be 50 Ohms and all our cables and accessories are 50 Ohms.  With this setup regardless of the data rate you should have a clean rising or falling edge regardless of the data rate. The quality of the output (rising or falling edge) at your device will be related to the impedance matching of your cables.
The PXIe-6556 cannot adjust the slew rate by itself.  However you can insert some simple passive components to do this for you.  I've attached below to images.  The first is a schematic showing one way of slowing down the edge.  The second is the a simulated waveform showing the original edge rate before slowing it down, and the slowed down edge.   This simulation is not of the PXIe-6556 but instead a generic digital output for concept.  In the schematic R1 is set to 34 Ohms because U1.8 has the additional 16 Ohms inside it.  TL1 is the 50 Ohm output simulating the cable on the PXIe-6556.  R2, R3 and C1 are components you could insert after the PXIe-6556 cable before it goes to your device/cables.  In this setup the cable going to your device is TL2 which is also 50 Ohms but it could be another impedance in which case you would change R3 to match.
You can see in the attached images you can significantly slow down the edge with this setup by altering C1.  I hope this helps,

  • PXIe-1073 sytem not detected

I connected a PXIe-1073 system (PXIe-6363 and PXI-2567 connected) to the PC (running Windows 7) and the PC does not detect the chassis. It started happening when I recently upgraded to LabVIEW 2013 and NI-DAQmx 9.7.5.
I also installed the MXI BIOS compatibility software Ver 1.4, changed the DIP switch1 to ON position on the MXI express card 8361 and rebooted the computer. That did not solve the problem.
Then, I upgraded to PXI Platform services 3.2.3 and restarted the computer. I still don't see PXI system recognized in NI MAX. When the computer was restarted, the 8361's MXI card's switch 1 was still in ON position.
Any ideas on how to fix this issue ?
    Thanks
    Jeet

    Hi Matt
    Sorry for delay in replying.
After a lot of uninstallation/installation/repair of different driver versions, i have currently got the following software (see attached pic): NI-DAQmx 9.5.5, Ni PXI platform services 3.2.1.
In the picture, you can  see that all my cards are detected in NI-DAQmx devices as Dev1, Dev2 etc.
My PXIe-1073 is not detected or listed in MAX. I expect to see chassis controller detected and all the cards listed under the chassis controller as "PXI2slot2" device or "PXI2slot4" device etc.
The attached pic shows NI-MAX and device manager snap shot.
    Please advise.

  • Hybrid PXI instruments

Of the instruments listed below are there any that have hybrid PXI/SCXI version like the PXI-6289 (779639-01 and 779123-01)?
    PXI-4072
    PXI-5122
    PXI-2567
    PXI-8430/16
    thanks,
    darrow

I found the answer. The information is fragmented onto several documents/kb articles. On the chassis manual it tells you can use a PXI DAQ card to control the SCXI part, then just by chance you might find a kb that  (that address only chassis 1010/1011 so it really adds to the confusion when you look for controlling chassis 1050) it tells you can use any PXI M, E, etc which in turn send you to another Kb where you discover the production date when they stopped making cards with full length connectors which in turn links you to another kb that gives a list of cards that you can still request with the full length connector.
I guess a few things need to be updated on your website/documentation, if I might suggest:
The hybrid chassis manuals need an update to 2013 status of things, possibly including all infos about which cards can really control the SCXI through the backplane or at least a link to the kb.
The pictures of all PXI cards on your website needs to be updated to show the new connector, especially when you have an article about the SCXI control capabilities that shows the different connectors PXI Hybrid PXIe and Full Lenght connector and then you go to PXI DAQ cards product page and it nicely show you the card with a full length connector. (i.e. see the 6211 picture here http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/201614 or the 6225 here http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/201614).
