Q about deploying to browser and profiles

When I execute my project in the browser, the application does not render but the browser status bar freezes with this message:
"applet org.jdesktop.applet.util.JNLPAppletLauncher started"
Could it be that I have used functionality that works fine for the desktop profile but not for the common profile?
Is there any way to see what parts of the code won't work with a certain profile? If I e.g. choose the mobile profile, then e.g. javafx.ext.swing becomes unreachable, but is the same thing possible for finding out what works/not works in the browser v.s. stand-alone?

I ran into another weird issue.
Instead of having to edit the policy file to get rid of the permission error, I decided to put my local XML file on a web server instead.
I have tried to deploy the JavaFX example project InterestingPhotos (flickr http requst/xml parsing example) signed in the browser, and this works fine.
But, my own program, which also does an http request on exactly the same form as the flickr example project, gives me this exception when being deployed in the browser:
access denied (java.net.SocketPermission www.mydomain.com:80 connect,resolve)Do you have any idea about why? I mean, first of all, it's signed. Secondly, it only tries to access a public web resource, nothing peculiar about that...

Question about private web browsing and Spotlight

I was browsing personal webpages on a work computer using Safari's 'Private Web Browsing', but although Safari doesn't remember the pages, Spotlight does which is a little concerning!
I have excluded webpages from Spotlight searches but that doesn't mean the pages have gone. I have tried clearing my history in Safari and Resetting it, to no avail. Can someone tell me how to delete the webpages from Spotlight?

I checked on my computer and do not have this issue. And I have no website located somewhere on my machine, after cleaning / or resetting the browser.
In the "Safari" - Menu > below the "Private Surfing" > is "Safari Reset"

It seems like what ever the problem is that its related the Safari web browser, because it works fine on the Firefox web browser.
I think its some kind of plug-in failure because it giving me a LOC ERROR:
LOC ERROR: Unable to locate localized string for resource ID 5007.
How can I fix this Plug-in?
And, yes my softwer is conpletly updated…

Deployment in browser: setting width and height to 100% (or any %)

According to http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2.0/deployment/deployment_toolkit.htm for deploying a browser embedded JavaFX application, you can set the width and heigth properties to either a fixed value or a percentage value (or, assumedly, any value the browser can accept).

As a workaround, in the meantime, look at the build file in the source of the Ensemble sample application (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javafx/downloads/devpreview-1429449.html) which will patch a generated html file using a custom post processing ant task - this would not work out of the box using the NetBeans generated ant build files though. You could file an issue with NetBeans to ask them to support the workaround in their generated build scripts, but they may just decide to wait until a fix is available in the core platform. As there is a workaround though, I don't think this would be classified as a showstopper issue - just a pretty annoying thing.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

Firefox don't close when "browsing and Download History" is deleted on exit

Firefox doesn't close properly in about 50 % of cases. When closing FF, the window closes but the process firefox.exe isn't terminated. When trying to open FF again you got the error message "Firefox is already running, but not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." After terminating the process firefox.exe in the windows task manager, FF can be started again.
Error only occurs when under "Options/Privacy/Use custom settings for history" at "Clear History when Firefox closes" the option "Browsing and Download History" is selected.
All other options selected or not don't cause the issue.
I switched this option it several times. When "Browsing and Download History" at "Clear History when Firefox closes" isn't selected, the error doesn't appear.
Reproducible regardless if "Remember my browsing history" and "Remember download history" are selected or not.
Reproducible:
- after new installation of Firefox (Firefox 29.0.1 german, Windows7 64-bit)
- with different profiles, even with all addons disabled or running in safe mode
- with new profile with no addons or dictionaries installed
- with windows firewall turned off and deactivated antivirus program
- with hardware accellaration on and off

I want to describe the problem more precisely:
It only occurs when "Browsing and Download History" is delete on exit. The other option at "Clear History when Firefox closes" don't cause this issue.
Is there any other solution then to turn "Browsing and Download History" off?

Latest version of Window 7 FireFox came with malware including Unico browser and tons of other malware. Mac version seems to be fine. Has anyone else seen this?

I have been using FireFox for awhile now on both a Mac and Windows 7 computer and have loved it. It has been updated to the latest version by your request many times in both formats with no problems; until now. The Windows computer just asked me to undate to version. I went directly to Mozilla.org and it had 'Firefox Setup Stub 37.0.1.exe. When I opened this, I immediately got a blast of more nasty malware and viruses than I had ever previously experienced. I deleted all those unwanted programs that had downloaded; removed all the malware and viruses. Firefox worked for a minute before all this different malware and pop-ups and viruses started again. I then repeated everything and also removed firefox and the PC worked fine with a different browser.
I then tried a second time to a different Mozilla site that included US firefox in the website name and started over. Same thing happened again. These unwanted programs included Unico Browser and dozens of other that are very nasty. If you click on anything, they download a dozen other programs. If you go to control panel and remove them, they download 6 or eight new unwanted programs. I finally got all the malware, viruses and pop ups removed when I also removed Mozilla Firefox. I can only conclude that the latest version for Windows is corrupted. Any thought or recommendations? For now, I am back to using a different browser on the PC.

I did a refresh on my Fire fox browser and now I can't print anything. Help!

Browser was hanging up and issuing a not responding message. this would last for a good period of time. then all of a sudden it would load my home page of Yahoo.
Did a refresh of the browser and it solved the slowness of the page loading, but when I went to print a page everything would work until i actually clicked on the print button and a box came up telling me firefox had crashed and would send out a report. This happened after the browser refresh. Did something get removed so the browser doesn't recognize the printer? How do I solve this problem?

I used to be able to close the browser and still have the download box open and still download stuff but now I can't...what happened???!!!

I was in the process of downloading something tonight and decided to close my browser. Unfortunately, the download window also closed and that meant my download was gone and I would have to start over again.
I went back and started the download again and the download box showed the file picked up where it left off but when I closed the browser the same thing happened again; the download box closed when I closed the browser.
The reason I close the browser is because my downloads download faster when the browser is closed and now that option is closed to me.
Is this a new feature if so I don't like it as a matter of fact I would say I'm very pissed off with this new development. Please go back to fixing it so I can close the browser and still download.

I went to about:config like you suggest and changed the the thing you said. There is no improvement. Instead of my browser and the download box closing when I click on exit button/link now a box pops up with the message "If you exit now, 1 download will be canceled. Are you sure you want to exit?
I don't need a box to warn me that if I exit that the downloads manager would close as well...I already know that and that's the problem. I want a way to stop the download manager box from closing when I exit the browser like it used to.

I am using project server 2007 and WSS 3.0.
I have been facing a strange issue for couple of days. I am unable to open PWA in browser and MS Project Pro on application server.
Everything is correct whether it is URL or MS Project profile account on MSP. This is strange because i can open same PWA/MSP from other computers (Database server / Client PCs) but not locally on server.
When i try to connect to MSP on App server, i get the following errors in event viewer.

How to get background image to fill the browser and remain fixed in both IE and Firefox?

Basically what it says in the title. I've come very close in achieving this but something just doesn't tie up in the html and css code...
First of all, I'm using IE8 and the latest version of Firefox to test this.
I used 2 sources of information for getting this done: 1) http://css-tricks.com/perfect-full-page-background-image/ and 2) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8958697/css3-background-size-cover-doesnt-make-image-co ver-vertically
In Case 1 the example on the page called CSS-Only Technique #1 gives code that works almost perfectly for me, except that obviously I need a background image, however the CSS provided there is clearly just for an image dropped in the body of a page with no regard for other content that may already be there. The html code that I put on the page is simply <img class="bg" src="../images/background_image.jpg">
Obviously I used the CSS code provided in the example, minus the last bit which is "@media screen" etc etc, which seems irrelevant to me. Obviously substituting values to suit the image on my page.
So what happened is that it almost worked as intended in both the browsers (which means the image filled both browsers width-wise as intended and also remained fixed when I zoomed in or out in each case) except that the image went over the top of the current content that I had there already precisely because it's not a background in this "technique". (A curious side-note is that the image didn't push down the content, as I'd have expected in normal circumstances, but went right over the top of it so it hid it (like z-index).
One thing that does bother me about this "technique" is that if you click on View Demo just below the code provided you will see on the working example page (forest background) the image clearly works as a background and the content sits happily on top! So I don't know whether the person providing the example was trying to mislead people or what! Or he got lazy and showed a different page that didn't use the exact code he provided. No matter.
In any case this leaves me with the job only half finished, as I still need a background image that works like the 'normal image' code provided.
On to Case 2 and on this page the first example provided gives the CSS for the background image - namely the code within html {...} part and also shows the same 'normal image' code as given in Case 1. In this case however, although the person provided a suggestion, the css and html doesn't really tie up properly plus some of the css and html seems a bit redundant. So this time when I used the 'html portion' of the CSS code (i.e. just the bit that was most relevant) I got two different behaviours in each browser and neither of which was quite what I'm looking for. In IE8 initially the page looks fine (background fills the page and content is on top) however when I zoom in or out the background also zooms in or out accordingly so is NOT fixed. In Firefox the background image DOES stay fixed, however because the image originally is not the whole height of the browser I'm guessing the code stretches it downwards (while keeping proportions - so the image essentially enlarges) to fill all of it. The quick way to get around it is to probably add some white space to the bottom of the image just to give it enough height that it doesn't stretch/resize automatically. But it would be nice to find out anyway how to get around this in the code. Overall I would say that the result in Firefox comes closest to the desired solution but of course it doesn't help matters with IE8.
Apologies for the lengthy description but that should at least provide plenty info for anybody that might have a possible solution for me. Essentially what would be great is if somebody could advise me how to take the code from Case 1 and apply it to a 'background' piece of coding like the type that's contained within html {...} in Case 2. Like I said, it's so nearly there but I just can't make it work atm after trying to combine the various bits of code this way and that... Alternatively, if somebody has another html-css version that works nicely for achieving this then please by all means let me know! Thanks v much in advance!

I was told that the APP store software should give me no problems but the truth is that it locks up on the software. This machine is only 4 weeks old and I am using 37 g on a 1 T hard drive. There is no reason for it to be locking up. Also, when I try to use the help program, it always tells me that I am not connected to the internet even though I have used both the mail program and the browser with no problem just before that. I successfully used the help program on my pc lots of times. I did not need a $2000. plus machine to just get email. I just wanted to unload on somebody that might understand my pain and after checking out this site...I think there is a few of you out there.

The apps downloaded from the Mac App Store are written by third party developers, not Apple. If you have problems with those apps you need to visit the support area for their websites. Launch the App Store, locate the app name. You should see a support link.

Go to ~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.helpviewer.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash. Restart your Mac, try the Help menu.
If you need help finding that file, hold down the Finder icon in the Dock then click: New Finder Window. From the menu bar top of your screen click: Go > Go to Folder. Type this in exactly as you see it here: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.helpviewer.plist That will take you right to that file.
(.plist) files stores information about a particular app or in this case, the Help viewer. Often times deleting the .plist file resolves the issue.
It's fine to "unload"... we understand that you expect your iMac to be stable but there are times when things go awry. That's why we have these forums so that you can you get help.

Windows 8 critical update crashed lost browser and all history and tabs how do i get old browser

Install Windows 8 Critical update; computer crashed and lost everything; Microsoft OS will not let me back into programs, keeps blocking me and gives me a temp password so I can still use PC. Had to reinstall FIREFOX, can't recover old browser and my very important tab. I can't get to backup file and Microsoft is unable to fix the problem, so I am starting from scratch. Tried to use Profile information but it contains only my current profile.
Hope you can help.

If you do not have the original profile folder and its contents, or some backup of that; there is not anything we can do to help.
*Do you have any forms of backup at all ?
*Did you sync with another device ?
I am assuming the original hard drive has been reformatted, or is totally unusable.
